    Italian beef with hair! Gross!
    Alec C.

This location is absolutely terrible. Overpriced. Staff is rude. Italian beefs are dry. Peppers are just cut up bell peppers. You have to pay extra for au jus. French fries are gross. Taste like bagged fries from the freezer section. And to top it off my wife got a hair in hers. Go somewhere else this place sucks.

    Custom deep dish pizza pie

My first time here. No seating inside. More of a takeout place. Asked if we could sit on the stool table but suggested if they put an umbrella for the picnic table outside we could sit there so that was nice and convenient so thank you for that . They have deep dish , double dough and pan style pizzas, salads, sandwiches, entrees, pastas. For deep dish pizzas it takes some time for it to be prepared so went to run an errand asked how long about 45 minutes was told came back and ok pizza was warm enough but would have wanted hot and gooey but I guess I can't really fault them for that its take out and it might have been there already for me before I came. It was tasty I like the sauce somewhat crushed tomato not too sweet or salty . The back edge of crust a little to hard crunch maybe do a butter crust or ask for it to be softer just my preference. I enjoyed the pizza over all . Will go back to try other stuff

You've got to be kidding me.

First time here. Came with another couple. It was a Thursday night, and we had 6:30 reservations…read more The place is a small, friendly looking standalone building on the corner. When you arrive, there is a bar with a seating area. There is also another seating area with a separate bar, which is where we sat. What I noticed first is that there are TVs set up throughout the restaurant playing Moonstruck, the 1987 movie with Cher and Nicolas Cage. It runs continuously, and I think without sound. I didn't have a direct line of sight, but I did notice it a few times throughout the evening. It's a quirky thing, and I like it. The inside is dimly lit, but bright enough to read menus and make out all the essentials. The lighting on the bars is a rich red, and it really sets off those areas. The walls are adorned with photos of iconic Italian female movie stars like Sophia Loren. I liked the classic vibe. The place was very loud. We were seated right away and settled in with waters, drinks, and menus. Our server did a nice job walking us through the menu details. It's mostly specialty pizzas, with a few appetizers, salads, and a couple of entrees. For drinks, there were a couple of Santino Sangrias, which were unique in that they included gin, a nice touch. There was also a Paper Plane Martini, which was very good too. I mentioned before that it was loud, and it was especially loud with a large group behind us. It got much better when they cleared out. I noticed that they have sound absorbing materials on some of the walls, which probably helps, just not enough. For dinner, we started off with a couple of Caesar salads. They were a good portion and easily shared by two. The dressing was fresh and the right amount. It was a great start to the meal. I would have liked to try the calamari, but nobody else was interested, maybe next time. There were three pizzas at the table, Margherita, Paisan, and a make your own with cheese, sausage, mushroom, and onion. I decided to be different and tried the Gigante Meatball Plate. The pizzas are Neapolitan, with bubbly, charred edges. All of them had excellent presentation and flavor. Neapolitans are not known for their sturdy centers, so you have to hold on tight to keep everything from sliding off. As expected, the meatball was very large. It's served with penne pasta, which was okay, though I would have preferred spaghetti. The sauce and cheese had good flavor. A solid entree, though not amazing. We were celebrating a birthday, so we saved room for a few shared desserts. We tried the flourless cake, tiramisu, and the chocolate hazelnut gelato. They were all good choices, satisfying, but again, not amazing. Lots to like about this place. Nice atmosphere, great service (thanks Tommy), and an excellent selection of pizzas. Would come back again, and this time order one of the specialty pizzas (Da Vinci).

My in-laws were in town visiting and are big Italian fans, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity. Spots like these are great- old buildings tucked away in a small neighborhood. It's been restored and updated plenty though. Including their outdoor space which boasts of tables and huge grass space where it looks like yard games are played. Inside is rustic. A handful of booths and high tops alongside the main bar in the front space. We were seated in the back portion of the restaurant which has a few more tables and a smaller bar. I'll note: upon entry they have a sign that says reservations are required. We didn't recall seeing that on their website, so luckily we were still able to be seated. I'd definitely recommend the rez though, especially on the week. This place is poppin'. Our server, Gracie, was super sweet and attentive. Waters were quickly delivered and then we were given time to browse the food & drink menus. I went for a glass of the Italian pinot grigio and it was lovely. For a starter we ordered the arancini, which was perfect because there was four of us and it comes with four deep fried rice balls that are stuffed with ricotta cheese and spinach. So damn good. As was the red sauce they sat atop of. My husband got the Capricciosa pizza, and I of course snached a slice. Loved it. The crust is thin and soft and it was loaded with Italian ham, artichokes, black olives, mushrooms, and mozz. No surprise it's a Santino's Pick! I also has their mediterranean salad with chicken. It's chopped style which is my fave. 10/10 would order again. Honestly we were all stuffed and went home with boxes. Fantastic food and fun atmosphere. What more could you ask for.

The menu states a Chicago stuffed pizza and since I'm from Chicago I thought I would try it even though I'm a thin crust cracker fan tavern style pizza from Chicago. Most people people not from Chicago have this misconception that it's a thick crust and they are turned off and say it's pan pizza that has too much crust and I'm tired of correcting them. Yes it's cooked in a pan with a thin crust and high walls like a pie cooked upside down with the cheese and toppings on the bottom and topped with a thin crust or not but the pizza sauce/tomato purée on top. I ordered takeout with a friendly young woman and the restaurant was very nice as I walked around and probably the nicest in the area. My pizza was ready in about 30 minutes and it smelled amazing. I ordered a 12 in stuffed Chicago style pizza with sausage which could feed 4 regular people because it's packed with cheese and toppings/sauce like a pie vs a flat pizza. Halfway into two slices I was full with the meat sweats. The cheese pull was absolutely perfect just out of the oven. The sauce was tasty with a garlic flavor and not sweet which I prefer as an Italian American. The sausage was top quality with some zing. Overall as a chicogan who likes thin over stuffed pizza it was fuc%ing delicious. This is a really tasty pizza with quality ingredients so they hit this pizza out of the park today.

Plenty of tables when we got there, and were seated right away. It's a converted home (remodeled long ago), and there are multiple rooms for dining, which give it a more relaxed feel. The design/decor does look a bit dated. Our server got right to us. Got menu and ordered a couple of Sangrias. The Sangrias were red, refreshing, and a good amount. Given the lateness of the evening, we didn't get any appetizers, but I would have liked to try the Calamari (next time). We ended up with a small "special" pizza and the Lobster Ravioli. There were several choice for sauce of the ravioli and I chose butter garlic. While waiting for our entrees, we were served a basket of garlic bread. The bread was fresh, warm, and plenty of butter and garlic. A nice treat. The ravioli also came with a small house salad. Good, but nothing out of the ordinary. It didn't take too long for the entrees (we were the only customers), and they were hot, flavorful, and good portion sizes. Both were good, but if I had to be honest, not great. The pizza crust was thicker than we like. And the ravioli pasta was very good, but the filling was more like a paste with small pieces of lobster. Definitely could have benefitted by having more lobster. The service was very good, up to the point that we got our meals. After that, we never saw our waitress, until we were finished with our meal, and even then we had to ask someone to find them. Maybe they were busy cleaning up? Not sure. Overall, okay, but with some attention to some finer details could be so much better. Didn't end up on our "gotta get back to that place" list :(

Aside from the appetizer selection, I didn't particularly enjoy the meal. My family loves pasta, but the dishes we ordered were mediocre and felt like something I could easily make at home. I was also confused by the "specialty" pasta section on the menu, as most of the dishes didn't include protein. Only one pasta listed it clearly, and we had to ask our waiter for clarification on the others, which was a bit frustrating. That said, the wait staff was kind and friendly, and helpful. The pasta was edible, just not memorable, and the overall selection didn't impress us. I may not return, but it's worth noting that the restaurant was very busy while we were there, so it's clearly a favorite for many just not the right fit for me.

This was an event I purchased as an adult-friendly evening, I do wish this was stated when signing up for classes or at least offer adult-only or all ages classes. It just wasn't the vibe I was going for that evening and frankly was pretty annoying. Although, the owner did try to play down the boy's presence and kindly answer his questions, etc - I probably wouldn't take another class there unfortunately. The class started with Petra giving a brief overview of the general recipe and then we got our hands dirty almost immediately kneading the dough. The dough got to rest for a bit while we got to sip on some beautiful red wine and Petra taught us how to make a puttanesca sauce. When we went back to knead some more, Andy had magically cleaned the stations and set us up for the next round! On our next rest break, Petra finished assembling the puttanesca with some pasta she made earlier that day and we got a healthy serving of fresh pasta and puttanesca, followed by a sample of some of the most amazing Panettone I have ever had. The care that Petra and Andy put into their work is evident, and their commitment to supporting organic, high quality foods is remarkable. Looking forward to many more classes here!

There's plenty available which is always a nice problem to have. I really liked the industrial design inside. It still felt cozy in spite of what is generally considered harsh. The dark wood and metalwork made a giant space feel smaller, in a good way. It wasn't terribly busy on the night we visited so the service was excellent. There were plenty of staff on hand as well, so I can't imagine that the service isn't also great on busier nights. Where I felt let down was in the food itself. The artichoke dip appetizer was my favorite thing. We also ordered a pizza to share and, while it wasn't awful, it wasn't that good. It WAS perfectly cooked, but nothing had flavor. The crust was blah, the sausage tasted like nothing, the pepperoni was crispy and the jalapeno peppers were mild enough, but still the only thing I could taste on the pizza. A little salt would go a long way in the dough, and maybe switch to a seasoned sausage. Hopefully they can improve on the flavors and seasoning, because this really is a nice sit-down pizza place.
