A group of our family met the other night at That's Amoré to celebrate a birthday, it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The restaurant was busy, but that didn't slow down our amazing server, Kayla C. She was so kind, funny, and attentive. Such a gem! She checked in on us throughout the meal, kept our drinks full, and made sure everyone was enjoying their food. We started with appetizers, including the famous onion strings, which definitely lived up to the hype. Next came fresh salads and plenty of warm breadsticks. Kayla was happy to customize the salads for family members with different dressing preferences, which we really appreciated. The entrees were so good and very generously portioned. The menu has a great variety, making it easy for everyone in our group to find something they enjoyed. One family member brought in a bakery cake for the birthday celebration, and Kayla even offered to have it sliced for us, which was such a thoughtful touch (even though she was a bit disappointed that she missed singing "Happy Birthday!")! I haven't been to the restaurant itself in quite a while. Fortunately, we get to enjoy That's Amore's food every summer because they cater the concert series at Boerner Botanical Gardens, and they do an amazing job. I've tried most of the menu items, with the exception of the lasagna, and everything has been very good. They also serve a delicious sangria. This year, I finally tried their cannoli, and I was blown away by how good it was. It's not quite as good as one that's freshly filled to order, but it's surprisingly close. If you order the Italian sausage sandwich, be sure to add the grilled onions and peppers. While you're at it, don't miss the giardiniera from the condiment table. It adds just the right amount of flavor and heat. The staff who work these events are always super friendly and do a terrific job. read more

We went here with friends for dinner on a Thursday night. My partner and I go there a bit early and took part in happy hour in the bar downstairs. $5 for a mixed drink!? That's a steal. We also noticed the food menu for happy hour had some amazing items that were also not overpriced as some places seem to be now. The couple we sat next too said they had the fried eggplant and the portion was heaping. Once our party arrived, we sat on the patio which is beautiful! So many gorgeous flowers and the tables are spaced nicely so that we didn't feel like we were on top of anyone. The food was so good and we were amazed that our bill was $100 for four people! We all had entrees with the salad and breadsticks. We did not purchase drinks so maybe that helped but I felt like this was a good price for a sit down restaurant. Would recommend! read more

Always great in many ways. As a former Chicagoan, I had to try the newer Chicken Vesuvio entree. Flavors are right on, but Airplane Chicken is used in place of bone-in and the sauce had been burned off so overall the dish was dry. However, a very good attempt. I continue to love That's Amoré. My mom and I went for a late lunch and early dinner last Sunday afternoon. I got my usual chicken Marsala and opted for veggies as the side. My mom got the beef short rib bolognese. I tried some of hers and it was delicious. As always, we enjoyed the breadsticks and salad. We ended our meal with a slice of carrot cake. The cake was moist. We always forget about how great this place is for a non chain Italian option. We called ahead and heard that they're pretty booked up but we took a chance anyways. When we got there, a number of tables were open and we were seated right away. Our server was friendly and quick to help while also giving us time to read through the menu. We had a few bottle of wine as part of the rewards program so that was pretty neat. The back room we were in was a little cramped but we appreciated getting our breadsticks and salad pretty quick. By the time our entrees were delivered, we were almost too full to have any. You won't leave here hungry! Great stop yet again and we will definitely keep this one in the rotation. read more

Outstanding food and service, as always. I hadn't eaten there in a few months. Their menu has changed; the prices went up, as they have everywhere. But the food is still great. I had the ravioli (superb) and my partner had eggplant parm (also superb). The outdoor seating is separated from street traffic by a cornucopia of fragrant flowering plants that create a congenial ambiance. I highly recommend "That's Amore" as long as you go when I'm not there. My one complaint: the wait for a table. read more

Let's start off with the positives! The food at That's Amore really is good. We have the vegetable ravioli in a lemon cream sauce, and the flavors were fantastic. The breadsticks and salad are a perfect starter for the meal. Another positive is that our server was quite attentive and the meal came quickly. The initial restaurant experience left quite a bit to be desired unfortunately. I joined the waiting list ahead of time and there was still a bit more to go - no problem! But when the hostess took us to a table, she brought us to a booth, suggesting that I could just sort of keep the kids contained in the booth. I have a two-year-old and a one year-old, they need high chairs. I understand if they didn't have that type of table ready, but it was unrealistic to expect that we would make do in a booth and I would have preferred they had just said we need to wait a little bit longer for the correct type of table rather than packing up, going to the booth and then needing to go back to the waiting area. Luckily my toddler was fine with it, but that definitely could've gone differently. When there was a table ready, the highchair had to be in a certain place to keep it out of the aisle, which I do understand, but it did add some complexity for me with how I had to be spaced out from the kids. The highchair and the booster seat were very dirty and our server was happy to clean them when I pointed it out, but I do feel it's something I shouldn't have to ask. Overall, the food was excellent, and we enjoyed the actual dining, but the experience was not friendly for children or the parent. I am of the opinion that children are people too, and should be able to eat out with their parents (as long as it's in a way that the dining experience is nice for everyone in the restaurant!) so this is maybe not the restaurant for that for us in the future unfortunately read more

I decided to try this place while my sister, who loves it, was out of town. The unlimited breadsticks and salad are definitely fan favorites, and I can see why! The breadsticks were warm and freshly made, and the salad had an amazing dressing and tasted fresh. I also appreciated that they sell their own salad dressing, which was a nice touch. I tried the Ketel One martini, which was delicious, and overall, the service was good, though a bit slow on the lower level. We ordered the Crabby Chicken and the Chicken Parmigiana & Lasagna combination plate. The Crabby Chicken was okay, but could've used a bit more seasoning to bring out the flavor. Unfortunately, the Chicken Parmigiana and Lasagna weren't our favorites - the chicken was a bit dry and lacked flavor kind of tasted not that well done, though the marinara sauce was tasty. Had a huge Italian beef sandwich with perfectly cooked French fries and was not able to eat it all. The flavor was superb and came with a complimentary salad with bread sticks. My wife had the mushroom ravioli and said it was the best she has ever eaten. Mushrooms cooked perfectly and the sauce was creamy with amazing flavor. Our waiter's name was Ergi and we highly recommend him because he has a great personality and friendly character. We liked him so much that we gave him a 40% tip and he was worth every penny. A group of five of us went to That's Amore for lunch. One plus right away is that they agreed to give separate checks. if the waitress did not know an answer to someone's question, she willingly checked with the kitchen. I ordered eggplant spinach parmigiana, which turned out to be excellent. Before our entrees came they served the table an excellent fresh garden salad and breadsticks to share, which was a nice touch. We were served in a timely manner, except for one of our group who ordered lasagna whose entree came late. The waitress presented us each with our bills. It took her quite a while to run each of our credit cards, but we were not in a hurry. When our group arrived at 11:30 (with a reservation) there was no wait. When we left the place was full and people were waiting. The parking lot was packed, with good reason. The food was very good. I will definitely return. read more

We dined here to celebrate a birthday and had reservations. While the restaurant was very busy and clearly popular, the food unfortunately didn't live up to our expectations. Aside from the appetizer selection, I didn't particularly enjoy the meal. My family loves pasta, but the dishes we ordered were mediocre and felt like something I could easily make at home. I was also confused by the "specialty" pasta section on the menu, as most of the dishes didn't include protein. Only one pasta listed it clearly, and we had to ask our waiter for clarification on the others, which was a bit frustrating. That said, the wait staff was kind and friendly, and helpful. The pasta was edible, just not memorable, and the overall selection didn't impress us. I may not return, but it's worth noting that the restaurant was very busy while we were there, so it's clearly a favorite for many just not the right fit for me. read more

An institution if you're in Milwaukee. TA is the Olive Garden of local Italian places, without the microwaved food or big corporate ownership but with just as yummy salad and breadsticks. Great food! Went with a group this time. I have been to this restaurant many times over the years and I think their food is great. Their staff is great. It's a pretty facility. It has a nice outdoor seating area decorated with flowers. They play a lot of music from the rat pack and there's lots of pictures on the wall of the rat pack and other scenes from Italy. I have never had a bad meal here and today when we were there the group of five of us everyone loved what they ate. They used to have these pork specials on Thursday and they had this one pork dinner. I can't remember what it was called, but it had two pork chops and there was potatoes and I think there was green peppers and green olives and other stuff in it, it was wonderful and one of the best meals I have had. Sadly, they don't make it anymore. It's still a great restaurant, the meals come with salad bowl and breadsticks. They Have a great bar. They have room for parties. I flew in from out of state to take my friend of 30 years out for dinner for her retirement celebration. We had a 5 pm reservation. 1 hour and 10 minutes later, our plates were not cleared yet, a blonde hostess/manager told us since we were finished, they need the table for waiting guests. Not an option to move to the bar. Just leave. This restaurant is the place my friend wanted to go, but I would never go back. We found another great Italian restaurant down the street. That's Amore is our favorite fish fry place. We often take another couple or group of friends who have never eaten here before and it becomes their favorite spot, too! Last night was no exception... everything from the delicious bottomless salad, fresh hot breadsticks, side of garlic butter pasta and the FISH was so delicious. This is the 2nd time that I've gone in the last three months where everything was a disappointment, I figured the first time was just a miss , but this time I was excited to go after my surgery of having full hip replacement , they did not care about anybody being handicap or in a Walker , the walkways were not clear. They had dishwasher bins in the aisle and then as I was being seated, the bartender, Cody was being very mean /rude telling me you can't have a walker when I was just trying to get situated and using it as balance to get on a chair , it took at least 10 minutes, even though the bartender was yelling at me , so they saw us for a server to come over to bring water, but maybe because they didn't have any glasses cause there was glasses everywhere on the bar when there 4 people at the bar and there was lots of tables in the restaurant that were open when they told me there was a 45 minute wait but I understand nobody wants to work in the industry so they were probably short staffed. But at the bar, there was two bartenders that decided to just have conversations within themselves and not care about the tables in the bar where I was seated. We ordered two appetizers. The breadsticks came out cold and my fried bowtie was basically fried scraps. I asked if they could put the Brewer game on , there's ways of communicating politely and respectfully, which they did not do , but they just said no we don't have that , at this point, we asked the server to just pack up our dinners that had not come yet to go because I was so disgusted with with the service and the dirty looks from the bartenders and the dirty bar . Cody the bartender was wiping his sweat off as well as making drinks without even sanitizing his hands . It just was not acceptable. read more
