I continue to love That's Amoré. My mom and I went for a late lunch and early dinner last Sunday afternoon. I got my usual chicken Marsala and opted for veggies as the side. My mom got the beef short rib bolognese. I tried some of hers and it was delicious. As always, we enjoyed the breadsticks and salad. We ended our meal with a slice of carrot cake. The cake was moist. The frosting was amazing! As should be obvious from my previous reviews, I'll be back!

Let's start off with the positives! The food at That's Amore really is good. We have the vegetable ravioli in a lemon cream sauce, and the flavors were fantastic. The breadsticks and salad are a perfect starter for the meal. Another positive is that our server was quite attentive and the meal came quickly. The initial restaurant experience left quite a bit to be desired unfortunately. I joined the waiting list ahead of time and there was still a bit more to go - no problem! But when the hostess took us to a table, she brought us to a booth, suggesting that I could just sort of keep the kids contained in the booth. I have a two-year-old and a one year-old, they need high chairs. I understand if they didn't have that type of table ready, but it was unrealistic to expect that we would make do in a booth and I would have preferred they had just said we need to wait a little bit longer for the correct type of table rather than packing up, going to the booth and then needing to go back to the waiting area. Luckily my toddler was fine with it, but that definitely could've gone differently. When there was a table ready, the highchair had to be in a certain place to keep it out of the aisle, which I do understand, but it did add some complexity for me with how I had to be spaced out from the kids. The highchair and the booster seat were very dirty and our server was happy to clean them when I pointed it out, but I do feel it's something I shouldn't have to ask. Overall, the food was excellent, and we enjoyed the actual dining, but the experience was not friendly for children or the parent. I am of the opinion that children are people too, and should be able to eat out with their parents (as long as it's in a way that the dining experience is nice for everyone in the restaurant!) so this is maybe not the restaurant for that for us in the future unfortunately

I decided to try this place while my sister, who loves it, was out of town. The unlimited breadsticks and salad are definitely fan favorites, and I can see why! The breadsticks were warm and freshly made, and the salad had an amazing dressing and tasted fresh. I also appreciated that they sell their own salad dressing, which was a nice touch. I tried the Ketel One martini, which was delicious, and overall, the service was good, though a bit slow on the lower level. We ordered the Crabby Chicken and the Chicken Parmigiana & Lasagna combination plate. The Crabby Chicken was okay, but could've used a bit more seasoning to bring out the flavor. Unfortunately, the Chicken Parmigiana and Lasagna weren't our favorites - the chicken was a bit dry and lacked flavor kind of tasted not that well done, though the marinara sauce was tasty. I'd come back to try other menu items, especially with the breadsticks and salad on the side. The hostess was also very welcoming and friendly, which made for a pleasant visit overall

A group of five of us went to That's Amore for lunch. One plus right away is that they agreed to give separate checks. if the waitress did not know an answer to someone's question, she willingly checked with the kitchen. I ordered eggplant spinach parmigiana, which turned out to be excellent. Before our entrees came they served the table an excellent fresh garden salad and breadsticks to share, which was a nice touch. We were served in a timely manner, except for one of our group who ordered lasagna whose entree came late. The waitress presented us each with our bills. It took her quite a while to run each of our credit cards, but we were not in a hurry. When our group arrived at 11:30 (with a reservation) there was no wait. When we left the place was full and people were waiting. The parking lot was packed, with good reason. The food was very good. I will definitely return.

Without a doubt when someone wants to meet for happy hour and appetizers this is 100% my go to place. You know the place where you always order the same thing and the consistency and service and price bring you back kinda place. That is without a doubt That's Amore! Calamari, shrimp Capri and eggplant roll-ups are the perfect trifecta. Start with a Manhattan and then then order the house wine. If you have room for dessert the tiramisu is the bomb!

Plenty of tables when we got there, and were seated right away. It's a converted home (remodeled long ago), and there are multiple rooms for dining, which give it a more relaxed feel. The design/decor does look a bit dated. Our server got right to us. Got menu and ordered a couple of Sangrias. The Sangrias were red, refreshing, and a good amount. Given the lateness of the evening, we didn't get any appetizers, but I would have liked to try the Calamari (next time). We ended up with a small "special" pizza and the Lobster Ravioli. There were several choice for sauce of the ravioli and I chose butter garlic. While waiting for our entrees, we were served a basket of garlic bread. The bread was fresh, warm, and plenty of butter and garlic. A nice treat. The ravioli also came with a small house salad. Good, but nothing out of the ordinary. It didn't take too long for the entrees (we were the only customers), and they were hot, flavorful, and good portion sizes. Both were good, but if I had to be honest, not great. The pizza crust was thicker than we like. And the ravioli pasta was very good, but the filling was more like a paste with small pieces of lobster. Definitely could have benefitted by having more lobster. The service was very good, up to the point that we got our meals. After that, we never saw our waitress, until we were finished with our meal, and even then we had to ask someone to find them. Maybe they were busy cleaning up? Not sure. Overall, okay, but with some attention to some finer details could be so much better. Didn't end up on our "gotta get back to that place" list :(

I thought it looked charming, a hold-over from an era not that far in the past, but generally gone. I looked forward to dining there, but it took a recent invitation from new friends to get me through the door. The only reservation we could get was for 4:30. Hmmmmm...OK, I figured we'd be the sole patrons at that time of day, but I was wrong. And that tells you one thing you need to know: Tenuta's is popular, and rightly so. Despite being generally more adventurous in my choices, I ordered the pesto. I judge every Italian place by its bruschetta (on the menu but not ordered) and its pesto, and Tenuta's passed my personal test with flying colors. The most pleasing things about the dish were the very generous amounts of tasty sauce on the pasta, chicken, and zucchini. The least pleasing was the pale orange of the very underripe cherry tomatoes included. Companions had the nightly special (gnocci with bacon and a gorgonzola sauce) and the Calabrese, a tantalizingly spicy dish. Everything was perfect. Desserts ordered were the tiramisu (a large portion) and butterscotch boudino, a dreamy cup of butterscotch pudding, homemade butterscotch sauce, whipped cream, and a bit of sea salt. Service was quick, professional, and friendly. The restaurant is small, but cozy and welcoming.

The dishes served at Sorella reminded me of the food I devoured on the Jersey Shore in towns like Point Pleasant Beach, Brielle, and Toms River. Most Italian restaurants in Milwaukee serve pasta swimming in sauce, burying the pasta's flavor. Sorella got it right. The service was friendly. We sat at the bar eating late and had fun. Trattoria di Carlo(TDC): Just south of Milwaukee, TDC opened in Oak Creek, WI nearly 25 years ago…read morein 2002. Founder Carlo Pedone utilized his grandmother's recipes that she brought from Sicily. 2021 saw the restaurant close, but after a brief hiatus, it was revived by new owner Frank Carini in 2023. Carini still uses all of Carlo's original recipes. My experiences with the restaurant go all the way back to high school as my parents are fans of TDC's pizza. I'm going to get it right out there, I am not. Not as a teen, nor on second chances as an adult, which is why I'm reviewing their gourmet lasagna instead. Carlo's recipe fills the lasagna with ricotta cheese and tops it with a beef meat sauce. All of this is also smothered in mozzarella cheese. Two observations (not necessarily complaints), the first is that the lasagna was not as "tall" or stacked as what I typically experience, being flatter instead. Second, I thought it was interesting that a large amount of the toppings were not actually on the lasagna but instead trailed it. I know this does not sound appetizing, but it reminded me of a snail and its trail of mucus (with the lasagna representing the snail and the trail of cheese/toppings being the mucus). Anyways, before you scold me for that unappetizing simile, the gourmet lasagna at TDC was tasty and is Doughboy approved . Only I would order a dessert drink to kick off the meal I had there with my family, but let's be real, it's better than an appetizer. TDC's version of a chocolate martini is made with Five Farms Irish Cream, Chocolate Liqueur, and vodka. There was also obviously a little chocolate sauce, which the menu description omitted (along with the brand of vodka). You could taste the alcohol, but I wouldn't say it was overly boozy. It was just about right for a martini (which is still a lot for a lightweight like me). With a sweet tooth like mine, it still beats any standard martini, even if it's not the best chocolate martini I've ever experienced. Shaken or stirred, this dessert martini is Doughboy approved . Additionally, I included pictures of the fried Mozzarella Sticks and Ricotta-cheese filled ravioli we had for appetizers. The Mozzarella sticks were crispy on the outside and stuffed with melty cheese on the inside (you should have seen the cheese pull, and I wasn't even trying), doughboy approved . The ravioli was just okay . For dessert, I did try a little of my dinning companions' massive chocolate cake slice. There's a creamy chocolate buttercream on top of the slice along with alternating layers throughout the slice. The cake itself was rich and moist, while the frosting was chocolatey and sweet. Chocolate shavings also decorate the top of the slice, which in addition to the visual appeal, add a pleasant crunch that contrasts nicely with the soft and creamy cake. Dessert was easily Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews

Halfway into two slices I was full with the meat sweats. The cheese pull was absolutely perfect just out of the oven.
