This restaurant is an icon in the Hales Corners area. Had birthday lunch here with 6 ladies. The outside patio is stunning with all the gorgeous flowers. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and appetizers. Shrimp Capri was too heavy on the lemon (could' not taste anything but lemon). Fried eggplant was exceptional. Seafood Amoré and chicken parm were also stand out delicious. Salad dressing is also great Our waitress was attentive and over the top accommodating, thank you! My wife and I went to That's Amore last night for dinner. We both ordered the Prime Rib dinner. I ordered the 14 oz. end cut and my wife ordered the 11oz. cut. She was pleased with hers but mine was delivered cold. After getting the servers attention she offered to take it back to prepare it correctly. About 15 minutes later my wife was done with her meal and my dinner was finally re-delivered. I received a different slab of meat which was not the end cut. I had 3 pieces of it and asked for a go container. We go to That's Amore quite often and have had many great "Italian" meals! I will NEVER order their Prime Rib again. I arrived home and just tossed my container into the garbage. I felt a waste of $34.00. read more

I have written several reviews of this restaurant in the past, and almost always favorable one. I went here for lunch with my wife recently, and for the first time we received a dish that was not as good as we have come to expect. The spaghetti with meat sauce had pieces of sausage in it, rather than ground beef, making us wonder if they just had some old sausage they needed to get rid of. Please tell me this isn't so. At the end of the meal, for some reason I was craving a shot of espresso. I have never ordered it here before, and now I know why. It isn't on the menu. No espresso in an Italian restaurant? I had a short ribs Bolognese and it was delicious. My husband had the prime rib and said it was Ok. The service was friendly and attentive. I did feel a little rushed - so much so that I had to tell our server to let us have some time to enjoy. I was a little upset that when we made the reservation online, their app inquired if we were celebrating anything - We were there celebrating our anniversary. Not once did anyone acknowledge our anniversary. why bother inquiring if the people couldn't care less. If I could leave less than 1 star I would, our server Brenda; who did not introduce herself or make us feel welcome but rather an inconvenience; was absolutely terrible. She didn't come back to check on us, we always had to prompt her for items instead of her just seeing that drinks were empty and offering to get a refill. The food was honestly quite terrible, as a larger party 3 out of the 7 dishes were left uneaten. I wouldn't recommend anything that doesn't have the red sauce. The other white wine sauce was over salted and tasted old. It felt like they just dumped the entire jar of cheese on it and hoped for the best. My family & I were having our dinner for the first time at your restaurant on Sat November 20th @ 6p. The staff was friendly & our waitress was kind even gave us an heads up that the kitchen staff was behind. We finally received our food; it was warm not hot which gave us the impression our food was sitting back in the kitchen for awhile before our server brought it out. In addition, my blacken chicken sandwich was missing mozzarella cheese (our waitress offered to take it back to melt the cheese but due to COVID I did not feel comfortable w/ my food going back & forth). We were disappointed w/ the temperature of our food because we were celebrating my birthday w/ dinner at your restaurant. That's Amore has added a couple of things to the menu since I last reviewed that are really extraordinarily good. The Beef Short Rib Bolognese has such a rich and complex flavor that it must be simmered for hours. Next up the Pork Osso Bucco. The sauce that encircles the Parmigiana rissoto is intense and is the ultimate complement to the rissoto. The pork shank is fall off the bone tender and delicious. Lastly, I've had the Monster Italian Beef sandwich that weighs in at 3/4 of a pound and is covered with Mozzarella cheese. This place just keeps getting better and better. read more

Well a restaurant that I have been going to for over 20 years was a complete let down for my husband's birthday party. It was a surprise birthday that I called in a monnth in advance and explained it was a surprise and tHat I will be arriving 15 min aftEr everyone else shows. When we did show up I told the server my name and party for 2. She looked at her book and said "Oh! That big party that's upstairs!" I gave her a dirty look and my husband instantly knew he had a party upstairs for him. Then sHe got cocky with me and said she didn't knoW it was a surprise. The day before that I called and asked if I could bring a cake because I'm a cake decorator. They said sure for a extra charge of $1.50 a person... so I cake that's gonna cost me $20 to make will cost a extra $24.... When I asked why. They said cuz they cut the cake. I didn't need them to cut the cake. I needed nothing but some extra small dishes to put the cake on. So we go upstairs and our table was pushed all the way against the wall. So there was only one way in and one way ouT. So anytime someone to was sitting up against the wall had to get up or use the restroom. Everyone else had to stand up so they could get out. That small closed in room was packed with people was so loud because it was so closed in everyone was shouting at each other just to talk. Then our waitress asked if we wanted separate bills and we saId yes. Then a server stopped her and said don't do it that way because she will get a better tip! So she came back and said she can't do it that way for a party so big... Then she wrote on the bottom of the receipt how much her tip should be 20%. read more

Great atmosphere, service is fast and friendly. Started with a salad and while the ingredients were supposed to be fresh, the lettuce was a bit wilted and tomatoes soft. Dressing was heavy, overall if ingredients were fresh, it would be a decent salad. We ordered the Baked Ziti and Lasagna. Both were good and sauce had great flavor, Lasagna seemed liked it had been premade, thrown into the oven and then hit with sauce and cheese. The Ziti was cooked just right and had a good proportion of cheese and sauce. Went out for a very early dinner on a Friday night with my neighbors. Seeing we have been having such gorgeous weather this fall season we decided to go eat out in the patio. We arrived at 2:30pm and were told very rudely by the hostess we only have 1 hour to eat at the table. Not sure what that was about but it was completely uncalled for. Once we were sat at our table it appeared to only have 2 waitstaff working outside in the patio. When our waitress finally arrived we gave her our drink order and patiently waited. We put in our order the minute we got our drinks fir fear we would not have enough time to eat our dinner within the time restrictions they gave us. The whole experience was less than savory. We initially got a bowl of salad but then never was offered another one. When we got our dinners 2 of the orders only received half of their fries. By the time the 2nd bowl of salad arrived we were just about done with our meals. Not sure what is going on there these days but it was not a pleasant experience. We called with a days notice to get a large dinner for 10. A big lasagna, garlic bread, salad, and gluten-free pasta for two and more. First, it was all ready right on time, no worried, and we picked it up from the drive thru window. The loaded it into the car for us as well. Only snafu? The have a billing system for regular orders and one for catering. Just be sure when you pick up that you tell them it's a catering order. But our guy was on top of it, and when he didn't see the order, first thing he checked was catering and found it. And all was paced very well. Easy to move and kept hot for the ride home and all the setup and waiting for folks to show (we didnt open the containers till then. No real issues at all. Just a brief second of minor panic when he said, "I don't see it here." The lasagna was fantastic, and the Red sauce is great. Our two who need gluten free were also very happy. When I go back to visit my aunt & cousins, I will remember this place. Look forward to getting it again. Would like to try the dining room. read more

The Host who is blonde mid 50s is one of the rudest people I've ever personally dealt with. Waited for ever to be seated, and then she had an attitude when she said it would be 5 minutes when half the place was still open. Booths and tables were open. So I said "I'll be back later then, no problem". Then she proceeded to say in a mockingly tone "it's only 5 minutes" not only that, but only one server on the floor? Really? But that's not all, proceeded to follow me and my friend out the door and insulted us on how we were being "disrespectful" and we were being too hard for no reason. Never again, after going there for roughly 10 years. Never again! Especially being essentially chased out of the door!? My God, never again if that's how they treat customers! Furthermore, the comments made by the Hostess/Manager were deeply disturbing and disrespectful. I've eaten here a few times but this is the first time on a Saturday evening when it was busy busy busy! Our usual day/time to go here is Sunday around 5 it's a great place to go when our extended family gets together for a celebration. I've got to say that there is a difference in their food from a Friday-Saturday service to a much less busy Sunday. It just feels less rushed the food is cooked to perfection. I of course love the food there on any day of the week but there is a difference in taste and plating between a busy weekend and let's say during the week. The other slight negative is the seating, tonight I felt like I was a sardine, every time wait staff walked behind me I waited for a tray to fall. Plus we had a reservation for 5 people and we had 2 totally different tables one was formica like the other looked marble the latter was a good 2-3 inches taller. It felt like an afterthought, thrown together haphazardly. There's nothing I could really complain about food wise. I enjoyed my steak as did my grandson who kept stealing mine the food has always been good but l find it to be better when it's less busy. Wow what a great dinner. I've lived in and out of Milwaukee most of my life and I had never gone here. My wife and I decided to try something "new" to us. We waited a little bit for our table, but it was Saturday night at 7:00 pm so that's a no brainer. Anywhere that's good is going to have that. Our server Therese was awesome. She was a bit busy but made sure she acknowledged us and brought waters right away. While making out dinner choices she took the drink order and came right back with them. My wife had a chicken dinner I'm not sure what it was called but a bit of a creamy sauce and it was great. I ordered the bolognese. Oh my god it was awesome. I've worked in an Italian restaurant for the past 5 years in Florida. We had similar to this on our menu,except we used pork. This uses short rib meat and was just the best Italian food I've ever tasted. So tasty, house made pappardelle was light and made perfectly. We were both stuffed and saved some for tomorrow to eat. This place will be our regular Italian place now. Theresa recommend, Carbonara for my next visit. She didn't steer me wrong with the bolo so I'm sure that will be just as good. We had a family celebration last night for about 30 people and I needed a restaurant to cater this. We thought we would try Thats Amore. We ordered the mostaccioli with meatballs for 20 people and a half pan of lasagna. The meatballs were separate from the mostaccioli, which was perfect for the vegetarian guest. We picked up the food through their drive-through all arrived home, hot. They included all the utensils, the warmers, a huge Italian salad, many loaves of Italian bread, butter, and Parmesan cheese. I can't say enough about how impressed everybody was on this dinner, I thought the prices were reasonable, and I would definitely recommend them and use them again. read more

We can all agree! Everyone gets what they want at That's Amore. My parents live nearby and we've all probably been going there since 1990 when it opened. I'm partial to the eggplant parmigiana, hubs loves the beef gnocchi. My parents and kids love their shrimp dishes. They have a very good prime rib special on certain days. The food is reliably delicious and the service is excellent. We have had large family parties here and used their catering - never been disappointed. Before I start, I do not know this restaurant, I don't know any owner or employees that work here. This was my very first time hearing about this place let alone eating here. It's my girlfriend and I anniversary and she really wanted Italian food. She looked around for at least 30min until she found this place, and I will not lie it looked really nice, so we went. We get there the place is beautifully done up. We order our food and we wait about 20-30 min. It finally gets to us I ordered the gnocchi and I get two bites in and there was a large piece of black plastic in my food. I pull it out and we waited about 15 min before she finally checks in on us for me to tell her about the problem. I'm letting you know I hate confrontation and I do not like to complain I promise you that. I told her nicely," I found this piece of something in my food..." and before I can go on she takes my plate and says "sorry about that" and just walks away. She takes the plate to the back and then comes back out 2 min later and starts taking the orders of her other (larger) table. Which okay I get it they are where your bigger tip is going to come from can't keep them waiting. But also was kind enough rude. She gets what I think was the manager after and he says he's sorry and says I do not have to pay for my meal. I wanted to give a second chance and asked if I could please have the menu I will just order something else because hey, I'm still very hungry. My girl friend is upset about all this so I just order to go. Pay the Bill, and head back home (45 min away). So I open up the box heat up my ravioli eat one, and as I'm about to eat a second ravioli I notice the black hair. I pull it out to make sure and yes it's definitely a f..king hair. That being said I'll never go there again. They wasted my time, money, and gas also ruined our anniversary dinner. I've only visited one time for lunch, but I have a feeling the food is awesome all of the time. The restaurant was very busy on a Friday lunch hour. The walls were adorned with framed photos of Dean Martin and Rat Pack music played over the sound system. Either they LOVE Dean Martin or his family owns a stake in the restaurant. I started with an order of garlic bread ($3.79). A platter of eight large diagonally cut sections of bread arrived. This was only $3.79?!?! Wow! The bread was perfectly crisp on the outside and slightly soft in the center. The top half of the bread was soaked in butter, but too much. They applied the perfect amount of garlic and butter IMO. This was some of the best garlic bread I've had. I wish I would have added the cheese to the order. Next time.... The Chicken Parmigiana lunch special ($9.79) came with unlimited house salad with house Italian dressing and garlic bread sticks which were crispy and chewy with a coating of butter and garlic. The chicken breast was coated with bread crumbs mixed with Italian seasoning, and it was tender and juicy. The house made red sauce was on the sweet side. I can't believe it took me so long to try this place, definitely among the best Italian food anywhere in town. read more

Though my birthday was 2/10/2021, my sister wanted to treat me to a celebration lunch. She asked where I wanted to go and I didn't know. So, I suggested an Italian restaurant and insisted that it not be a pizza place. I wanted a pasta dish prepared by a pro. I certainly got what I asked for! The lunch menu didn't really explain the amount of food we'd be taking home. Really, it didn't matter, it's my lunch tomorrow. (and we all know Italian food is better the next day). We were served a salad with so much vinaigrette, the lettuce was wilted. Personally, I'm not thrilled with vinaigrette as a salad dressing. We should have been warned. The breadsticks were terrifically cold and dry. Not that it would've helped but where was the butter? It may have salvaged the heat lamp rampage we, as patrons, had to deal with. Let me regress just slightly. I should have known this experience wasn't going to be pleasant. We walked in, asked for a table for two, while the host was picking up our menus. He began to walk away without acknowledging us. Sometimes they check their seating, but this guy said, "Are you coming or what? In an effort to identify this guy, he had dark, curly hair. Stood about 5'10" and a bit on the chunky side. (Manager: check your schedule for who was host during lunch on 2/15/2021.) This employee needs to be spoken to, retrained in customer service. If I ever come back to That's Amore (This was my first time), I will pick out that employee and get a manager to speak of this. The restaurant was fairly busy, which is good to see, but I don't think certain tables were anywhere near the 6 foot space requirement. There were 2 chairs at tables of four who were too close to one another. Every other table should remain empty to comply with State rules. This final statement is a personal peeve of mine but you'll understand. I am diabetic, and I'm not the only one to ever patronize That's Amore. Most of us have to shoot our insulin approximately 15 minutes prior to eating a meal. I noticed your establishment didn't provide a sharps container. It's obvious that your restaurant has no concern about their workers and customers. Those little needles are extremely sharp and will stab through a garbage bag easily and insert itself into the skin. There is blood and germs on those things after they're used. A pair of rubber gloves isn't protection for anyone. Most likely it will be a worker who's exposed to blood-borne infection. It only takes the installation of a red, approved, locked container. Think about it. My diabetic friends have chosen to boycott establishments who put people at risk. The food was great, plentiful and a good deal for the price. 41 months ago I met a stranger in this fabulous restaurant. It was Wednesday Feb 18, 2018. We have been inseparable ever since. On the 18th of each month we have a date night. When the 18th falls on a Wednesday we excitedly return to the magical place that started our life together. The atmosphere, the staff, the food ALWAYS amazing! Just the same way as the restaurants name translates from Italian. That's Amore means That's LOVE! And yes if you visit this establishment you defiantly will find LOVE!
