Sausage and olive on left, veggie on the right
    Anna L.

This is my fiancé's favorite, so when we were in town this past weekend, he decided it was time to introduce me. I can easily see why he raves about this pizza. The NY-style crust is thin but not soggy with a pillowy edge that is the perfect amount of un-topped edge for holding & folding, there is ample cheese, and the toppings are generous but not so plentiful you are overwhelmed. Prices for pizzas include 2 toppings (THANK YOU; of course I want more than just cheese on my pizza!). We opted for sausage + olive and a veggie option with olives, green peppers, mushrooms, and onions. As a veggie pizza lover, I have to say this was one of my favorites I've had - veggies were thinly sliced so the pizza didn't get watery. The sausage had nice seasoning as well. I'll definitely move this to the top of my list of restaurants to return to on our next visit.

Advertised as the best New York style pizza in Mequon, so we decided we would give it a shot. Had to call probably 6 times to get through, it was 5-6 pm on a Friday night. Placed our order and arrived at the instructed time, the pizza was not yet ready but no big deal it was done within 5 minutes of arrival. Pizza was great, we built our own. My biggest complaint is it's super overpriced. $2.25 to add onions is ridiculous! Maybe for meat but for every single topping it seemed excessive. It was 35$ for one large two topping pizza and a side of cheesy garlic bread. The taste of the pizza wasn't great enough to overcome the high price, but would definitely come back if prices were more fair. Otherwise there's plenty of other pizza places in Mequon to grab a Za!

New York style pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms. It tasted just as orgasmic as it looks.

My relative had also ordered an Alfredo pizza from their specialties pizza menu and that was also to die for! The Alfredo sauce wasn't overly salty and the chicken and other toppings were nicely interspersed throughout the pizza. Tonight we ordered the garlic bread, a deep-dish pizza with most of the toppings a supreme would have, plus a small 10 inch spinach artichoke chicken pizza from their specialty menu, with a cauliflower crust (Spinach 'N Choke is the formal name). Where to begin: I have never had a pizza with a cauliflower crust, and this crust was wonderfully thin! It has that slightly sharp flavor that comes out in waves and truly compliments the artichoke, chicken and spinach, and the sauce is the harmony to the melody that is the rest of the pizza. The garlic bread came in two huge slices that had a wonderfully browned cheese and garlic topping, where the butter just soaked through the bread so nicely it tasted like the entire piece was infused with the garlic and cheese! No on to the main deep-dish pizza. The crust was definitely deep-dish but not so bready that you lose the toppings in the bread and it actually had some chewiness that gave a pleasant intro to the pizza. The toppings and sauce were all the way out to the edges and the actual pizza appearance told you that it was going to be an incredible experience! There were absolutely no bare spots, thin spots, or flat spots. With each bite, you could taste every single topping on the pizza...this is the way pizza should be made. I am looking forward to coming back to try every type of pizza they have!

But if you have the time to wait for your delicious meal or are ordering ahead of time, then I totally recommend it. I came in for a leisurely weekday lunch. The small size was perfect to share between 2 people for lunch and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The waiter was extremely friendly during our visit, despite the fact we witnessed him getting scolded by a customer because she was unsatisfied with the wait time for her sandwich. Unfortunately there was another business struggling next door, & that owner thought arson was a good idea, & Milwaukee lost a location with almost fifty years of history. I highly recommend the Milwaukee special; black olives, mushrooms, & yummy italian sausage on the classic thin crust. It's a fundamental part of the MKE experience, even in Mequon. I can't speak to the staff or ambiance at this location, so it's four stars, but I hope you get that's just cause I dunno if anything has changed since I've been able to get out there. Pizza Man is probably my favorite local pizzeria along with Zaffiro's.

We ordered the "Buffalou Chicken" and the "Deep Dish the Lou" (which was vegetarian, with spinach, mushrooms, basil, garlic, and topped with sliced tomatoes). The verdict on the two pizzas: The Buffalou Chicken had good flavor, we all agreed. But most of the pizza was crust - we wanted a bit more of a topping layer. Still it tasted good, and we liked they included little packets of oregano, parmesan, and hot chili flakes as toppings. The Lou pizza was also tasty, and the fresh sliced tomatoes on the top provided a nice tangy flavor. Also with this one, we felt the crust was a little much and we wanted more topping. But maybe that is part of the "deep dish" style - it's a bit different than some of the other deep dish pizzas we've tried. This pizza is good quality, good tasting, and very filling. It's tasty, although I wouldn't say it's my favorite, as I'm still on a quest for that favorite pizza. My personal preference nowadays is a thinner and crisper crust with a wood-fired taste and flavorful toppings, so keep that in mind when reading my review. This is a Chicago classic, worthy of its reputation, it's good stuff, I enjoyed it, and I'd order again.

I've visited IVR Bar several times and realized I never submitted the review I wrote. I'm happy…read morethough because after several visits I have more qualities to cover. Warning this will be a long review as a result. My review does have a few recommendations based upon my experience and one negative in #5. 1. Food The food here has consistently been very good. One of our favorites is their butter chicken pizza served on naan bread. It comes with extra butter sauce for dipping, and the flavor and consistency is so good. The pizza is full of chicken and a nice amount of cheese. The only thing I'd recommend is serving the side of butter sauce hotter. It's always much cooler than the pizza, which I've experienced more than once. Their naan bread is always soft and fresh. We've tried both the garlic naan and cheesy naan and both are so good. Buffalo wings and birria tacos served on naan were all delicious. The meat was seasoned and the rice was very good as well. The honey garlic cauliflower appetizer is tasty but the portion is quite small for $14. You'll see the serving spoon in the photo for scale it shows how small the serving is. I think lowering the price could encourage more people to order it. For $14 you might as well get some wings or a 1 topping pizza! 2. Drinks They make excellent drinks. I've had multiple martinis here and have never been disappointed. My husband ordered a Hennessy sidecar that was also very good. I went for their Thursday ladies happy hour where martinis are $5. The only drawback is that only a few specific flavors are included: blueberry, apple, cosmopolitan, and dirty martinis. I had a pineapple lemon drop martini there and hoped to get it again for the happy hour price, but it wasn't included. I think it would help if they advertised which martinis are included in the happy hour promotion so customers know what to expect. 3. Service Service has always been good during my visits. I've never had a bad experience with the staff. The dark skinned host has seated my family several times and is always friendly and welcoming. We're always seated immediately because they're never busy when we go. 4. Atmosphere & Entertainment There's usually about 2-3 other parties in the dinning room and a few patrons at the bar when I've visited. The lighting is dim and the vibe is relaxed. They have plenty televisions throughout the dining room and bar. The dining room has a 4 way TV in the center. If you're into sports they don't miss. They also have a few slot machines near the bar. 5. Cleanliness Overall cleanliness has been acceptable, but there are a few things that could be improved. I have noticed gnats on multiple visits. It's not a swarm but they are noticeable. More so this time with multiple sweet martinis at our table. With them using fresh fruit and syrups for cocktails, I imagine that isn't helping. The bathrooms appear to have been updated and look nice. There wasn't any odor, but the trash can could have been emptied or pushed down. 6. Menu & Communication One area where they could improve is marketing. Their website and social media advertise events or specials without explaining the details. For example, the flyer in my photos show tacos and tequilas night. With flight of tequila samples and tacos for $65/person. How many tacos and tequila samples does one get? How much tequila per sample? What would I be paying for? More social media presence, photos of their food in the happy hour posts and more details of specials would bring in more customers. I'm a Yelp and social media lady! I do a little research before deciding on new spots. I'm not scrolling through 20 posts a restaurant shares to get to food videos or images. I expect the to grab my attention immediately. It's so close to many big offices, factories, and various businesses. They should be busy always. I've seen multiple restaurants come and go in this same building over the last 12 years. I'm hopeful they'll be more present to increase their customer base. Another improvement would be adding more vegan options. When I was avoiding meat and dairy earlier this year, I noticed they listed the Garlic honey cauliflower online as vegan but it was labeled vegetarian on the menu on the table, which could be confusing for someone strictly following a vegan diet. 7. Loyalty Program One thing they do very well is their rewards system. They track points through your credit card, and we've received $5 off simply from returning. That's a great feature that more locally owned restaurants could learn from. So you're wondering if I would go back? Yes, I plan on it. Although I'm hopeful they consider my recommendations. Would I recommend it? Yes the food is good! The service is good! I've never had to wait! If you've never tried Indian food before this is a great place to start. They serve familiar foods with Indian flavors which may be helpful with easing in.
