Sal's Pizza is great for a go-to slice or take out pizza. The crust is phenomenal, has a great crunch, not soggy. Great ratio of toppings as well with a lot of fun slice combinations like mac and cheese and bbq chicken. We personalized a pizza with pepperoni, ricotta, and hot honey. I was disappointed in the lack of flavor with this pizza. I'm not sure if there just wasn't enough hot honey or just lack of flavor with the sauce, but I would probably opt for a different topping combination next time. The restaurant itself is very small and lowkey. You can watch all of the pizzas being made behind the case. Our pizza took about 30 minutes to make which I felt was very reasonable considering they had a line out the door. Overall, the pizza is really good and I will continue to come back, but will continue to try other topping combinations! read more

This was honestly one of the harder reviews to write because the experience felt split right down the middle. The pizza was probably 4-star quality, while everything surrounding it was closer to 0. Sal's definitely has that classic New York-style pizza joint feel. Walk up, order at the counter, and grab a seat. Unfortunately, what should have felt energetic instead felt like complete chaos. Right away, there was no clear order or flow to anything. There weren't any menus posted, so we had to pull them up on our phones. They offer pizza by the slice, but we decided to order whole pies for dine-in. The restaurant had several younger employees working, which is perfectly fine. Im all for hiring young help. But there still has to be a baseline level of organization and competence to keep a restaurant functioning smoothly. Unfortunately, it genuinely felt like nobody knew what was going on. After ordering two pizzas, we sat down and waited. The atmosphere quickly became overwhelming. It was extremely loud, people were running around, others were standing randomly waiting for food, and there didn't seem to be any system in place. The entire restaurant felt disorganized. We were told about 15-20 minutes for our pizzas. After about 40 minutes, we checked on the order ourselves. That's when we learned one pizza had apparently been sitting finished for who knows how long, while the second had been made incorrectly. We were told 5-10 more minutes for the remake, which ultimately turned into about 25 additional minutes. What made matters worse was that they never rewarmed or remade the first pizza, leaving one of our pies lukewarm by the time the second was done. The dining room also seemed completely unattended. Tables were dirty, garbage cans were nearly overflowing, and most of the seasoning shakers were empty. Now, onto the pizza. Because this is where things completely changed. We tried the gluten-free spinach feta pizza. As expected, the gluten-free crust was a bit tough, but the toppings were generous, fresh, and very flavorful. We also ordered the Goodfella on regular crust, and this was the real standout. The crust was phenomenal. Thin, crispy, and airy, exactly what you hope for from a New York-style pie. Topping ratio was balanced, and there was a good amount of sauce, though the sauce itself could have used a bit more depth of flavor. Overall, this is a place with really good pizza trapped inside a frustrating dining experience. Despite the poor service and chaotic atmosphere, I'd honestly still come back... but probably for takeout instead of dine-in. read more

The best truly NY/NJ pizza I have had since moving here 20 years ago. Sal is from Bensonhurst so a true NY boy.

I'm saying 3.5 to clarify. The place was very busy. Due to that, the selections were fresh. We ordered a cheese slice and sausage and pepp slice to try. My daughter said this was a guy from Brooklyn, NY, and was kind of hyped, so we made a point of going. It seemed like young kids, mid 20's and lower making the food. They warmed the slices that we chose. The flavor was there, but nothing to say it was exceptional. It is a good all around pizza, that I would get a pie from if I lived around there. It is not inexpensive. The ambiance is very informal and grab and go style of food. I would say, give it a try to pique your NY pizza curiousity. For me, it is a one and done. I'm a fan of Racine/Kenosha pizza. Value and quality is unmatched IMO. NY brags on themselves, with much hype. I'll take the quiet pizza that isn't hyped. Like the guy she said don't worry about. If I posted this review last year it would have been 5 stars. I love their food, but its getting harder and harder to GET their food. When I call for delivery orders on Fridays and Saturday evenings (the two biggest pizza nights of the week) they say they aren't delivering right now. It's happened to me at least five times this year. Once I ordered and they lost my info resulting in me not getting my order until I called looking for it (since delivery time was an hour, this resulted in me getting my order after about two hours). Last night I ordered wings then got a call 15 minutes before pick up time that they didn't have wings. Today I tried to order wings for delivery on a Saturday night, and lo and behold they aren't delivering again. I really hope they right the ship here, it'd be a shame to write them off. Now I'm going to get in my car and drive a half an hour away to get wings at a different Sal's Pizza just on principle. read more

My third visit to Sal's Pizza here in Cedarburg. I'm a regular customer of Sal's on Milwaukee's Upper East Side. Very good New York style pizza that you can buy by the slice. When you order a slice or two, make sure they keep it in the oven long enough to make sure that the crust has a crisp snap. The less skilled employee that took my order this evening, didn't leave my two slices in the oven long enough, and I had to ask to have them put back in. Sal's is an excellent place for a nice slice of NYC style pizza. Also the place has a cool fun vibe. Worth checking out for sure. read more

I was really excited about this spot because of the setup here is reminiscent of getting a slice of pizza in New York City. BUT for over $6 per slice I would say it's not worth it. The pizza itself was on the smaller side and all aspects (cheese, sauce, toppings) were very average. However, the garlic roll it came with was really delicious (it truly melted in your mouth) and the pizza was warmed up pretty fast. Me and my friends partook in a bloody Mary pub crawl this past Saturday. After hitting up a couple places a few of us stopped here to grab a slice and continue on the pub crawl. I decided to with a classic slice of cheese and waited for it to be heated up in the oven. I understand this is a pizza joint, but it was awfully warm in there and with having the door open it still didn't do that place any justice. I was presented with my slice and when I was told it was $7 I was taken back by it. I've had slightly bigger slices at Ian's and way cheaper! I didn't get into the cost because I was hungry, but the thought that two slices would've been $14 just had me in awe. I get we were in Cedarburg, but that price of the slice the juice was not worth the squeeze. I was hoping the taste and quality makes up for the cost. The quality was decent, nothing to really write home about. However, I did like the crispiness of the bottom of the crust and the crust has a good chew to it. These people must be from the future with their prices. Took my family of 4 in for a pizza pie. Cost me $140. I blame my wife.

I definitely came at a bad time and only ordered a single slice of pizza, so I am rating this slightly easier with hopes that at a better time and ordering a whole fresh pizza it would be better. However it was expensive for a single slice and the pizza had absolutely no flavor and was super floppy. I am not going to lie it was a really bad piece of pizza, couldn't even get through one slice. I understand that pizza quality is will be worse with by the slice but the guy really should throw out the pizzas and make new ones at least every hour. This has been sitting out forever. I'll give my slice a 2.6/10 but I really hope I make it back out eventually to get a whole fresh pizza and rerate this. Disappointing update. I think they have new owners, honestly, don't care. I am a sucker for school/kids/anything that supports kids learning. I had TWO kids come to my door selling those coupon deals that support their football team. Buy the card of coupons and the team gets money. Honestly, I could probably do without the coupons but given that I have kid WORKING for their sport (which can be rare around here) and it supports the school~ I'm all in. Someone asked me why I bought it when a second child came to my door, selling the same thing, Because I'm a sucker for these kids. Soooo... all this to say~ Honor the dang $2 coupon you have in here sir!! Family decides to get pizza, we were inclined to go to the place up the road (no coupon) that is close and convenient. We opt to go to Sals bc we have had good history here and we now have coupons for them. Granted it's only $2 and we're ordering $50 worth of pizza, but hey, you supported the football team, I'll order here. My teenage son goes here to pick up pizzas , kid at register doesn't know how to do the sale with coupon. Tries to say he used it, realized he didn't. Asks for help. Someone else comes over to register, he says, yes, it's applied. Son goes home, we look at receipt~ $2 not applied . I call to let them know so they can charge back my credit card that night. They say they'll fix it. They don't. I call another time, they say they'll fix it. They don't. I call another time, talk to what I think is the manager/owner. He tells me he is going to have to go through tons of receipts from that night and it may take a half hour and he'll call me back. He never did. Honestly, we tried about 5 times to get them to honor a stupid $2 coupon that they SAID they would honor with the team. I brought my $50 order over here for them, they refuse to try. I'm sure they're like "it's only $2" but I'm like ~ it was a $50 order and many calls. So... I'm done here. Over them. If it's too much work to get it right, I'll move on. For me, it's all about principal and clearly not about the money. I could keep on trying to get the money but it's not about that. Date of visit: 9/17/22 We were in the area for the Wine and Harvest Festival and was ready to get some food food before digging into the sweet treats that can be found around the area. Mass-produced burgers and hot dogs smelled good but didn't seem to be tripping the taste buds. Then we came across Sal's outdoor display. The options looked amazing, from pepperoni to the mac and cheese. There was even a feta one that looked outstanding. The staff outside seemed a bit harried as they practically yelled that if we were paying with a card, we needed to go inside to pay and then get our slice. Thankfully staff inside the restaurant was much more friendly and handled the card payment with cheer and grace. Then back outside we went to get our slices. No one even looked at our receipt, interestingly enough. The pizza was quite good, the crust was dense and chewy without being obnoxious, and the mac and cheese was perfectly cheesy. Really only the dickish staff outside brought this down to four stars. I'd definitely try another type of pizza the next time I'm in the area. read more

I know this is could be on us, I think it's worth mentioning. The crust was disappointing. Very chewy and not much sourdough flavor. The cheese on the pepperoni pizza was lackluster. The quality of the pepperoni and marinara was excellent. We added buffalo chicken to their Mac and Cheese pizza and wow, was that good. They went above and beyond. Praise! Pizza by the slice in Cedarburg! How long has this place been around without me knowing??? I don't want to spend the money nor commit to eating a whole pizza the majority of the time...one slice is just perfect and indulgences like this should be enjoyed in moderation. They have all the pizzas out right in front of you when you walk in so my mouth was already salivating as soon as I stepped through the door. There wasn't a clear indication of what each pizza was so I had to pester the poor guy working there..."what's on that one? what's on this one?" He was super nice and patiently went over all of my choices. I ended up getting the margarita and the stuffed pizza. Margarita pizza was good, but the stuffed pizza was absolutely faaaabulous! Really hit the spot, tons of cheese with sauce on the side(as stuffed should be!) The worst pizza we've ever had. The only way to emphasize that enough would be to be mean -although it might be warranted given how much they charged. The garlic knots were an unidentifiable bun slathered in something resembling fryer oil and sprinkled with chopped garlic. The taste was also unidentifiable, but definitely wasn't good. The pizza arrived burnt. In retrospect it should have gone straight back. It may have redeemed itself had it tasted good, but it barely made it to the level of being edible. Comparing the crust to cardboard would be an insult to cardboard. Compounding the terrible quality was the effort needed by my daughter to cut the pizza on a paper plate with a plastic fork and knife. Sal's is a weekend staple for our group. Great pizza and a good variety to select from- personal favorite is the Spinach Feta! The garlic knots are a great bonus. Ordered carryout. Thin crust pizza sliced into huge slices. Only need to eat two. And that's all I could eat. Even though it is thin crust, the dough outweighs the toppings by a huge margin. Almost every time I walk around Cedarburg, I always see Sal's Pizza bursting with customers. The first time I walked past and there wasn't a crowd, I decided to pop in and try their pizza. The pizza is pricey so I was taken aback at first, but you cannot deny their pizza is made well and deliciously. Truly yummy pizza! I like that you can see the different pizzas being prepared, baked, and served while inside.
