They brought their extensive knowledge and experience to our project, but also took into account our ideas and needs. This is a family owned and operated business, and that means a great deal. They transformed a bland front and back yard area into a beautiful desert landscape, for which we get many positive comments. We have now contracted with them for monthly maintenance of our yard, and heartily recommend DRL for any and all landscaping services.

We added low maintenance, low water usage native species. And some rocks, which help "ground" the plants. I am looking now through my window at the back yard where plants are blooming! All through the project, Darbi provided information and pictures. She asked us many questions and listened to us. Her goal was to provide us with a landscape that we would love, but that also makes sense for the desert environment. Darbi works with a contracted named Jeff. It was our choice to use him or not. We did. He and his workers did a fantastic job cleaning up the property, putting in irrigation, and planting. Darbi worked with him closely, overseeing all aspects of the work. They worked non-stop, and our yard was transformed within a week. (The planning stage took longer).

I searched for a masonry contractor, call a half dozen, three came out to the site, and we really "clicked" with Braulio. He grew up in his father's and uncle's construction business and has now branched out on his own. I cannot recommend Southwest Valley Contracting highly enough. Braulio and his employees (including his brother and cousin) are polite, prompt, and know their stuff. Braulio communicated both in person and via text multiple times throughout the process to be sure we were always on the same page. He listened to our ideas and concerns and then gave us his professional insight. His price was right in line with the bids from the other two contractors and very fair considering the brute labor required in 100+ temperatures! They demolished our existing wall and began trenching for the new footer in one day. Then the rebuild began with perfect integration to the existing wall. They even came on the weekend to finish what they started. Plus, they regraded the backyard, fixed a couple of broken irrigation drip lines and cleaned up all their construction debris. In less than 2 weeks, we had doubled the sized of our backyard! Our beautiful new wall is stuccoed and ready for paint. We will definitely call SWVC when we're ready to put in our fireplace and pavers. Even our neighbor was so impressed he wants to use them for his next project.

Even hitting a snag with the project, which is not uncommon in construction, he made sure there was communication, follow through, and resolution. I couldn't ask for anything more. He did a great job and at a reasonable price. Even with me being a bit of a control freak, Braulio never missed a beat. We made sure that there was clarity on what I wanted, what he could provide, and if it was a good fit. This project was for cutting back my block wall and widening the gate opening, as well as using a composite material for pickets versus wood. We are very pleased! We have already discussed that we will call on him again when we are ready for our paver/gas firepit addition. Absolutely disgusting experience with Ashlynd at Pools By Design AZ…read more I had to delay my pool project and financing for a year because I was battling cancer. Instead of showing an ounce of compassion, decency, or professionalism, Ashlynd chose to be rude, condescending, and outright demeaning. She talked down to me, belittled me over the communication gap, and made it very clear she wanted me to feel small over my financial timing. Let that sink in: I was considering paying this company $80,000, and this is how I was treated. It was arrogant, cruel, and completely unacceptable. No customer should ever be chastised or made to feel "less than," especially while dealing with a life-altering medical crisis. That interaction told me everything I needed to know about this company. I took my business elsewhere, and I strongly recommend others do the same. If this is how Pools By Design AZ treats people before they even get your money, I can only imagine how bad things get after.
