This was the first time I used 'Request a Quote' on yelp. I posted that I needed a couple of trees trimmed and got a response in less than an hour. We talked on the phone, I texted a picture of my tree, and setup an appointment for a quote the next day. He walked my yard and had quote immediately. The next day, he performed the work while I was at work, texting me pictures of the finished product. As you can see for from the photos, he did an amazing job on my most troublesome tree. A huge prickly pear cactus on my property fell over and I needed it removed. I don't have a landscaper, so I called Affordable Yard & Tree Service and Ralph called me back within a couple of hours. To my surprise (and delight), he was able to come out the following morning. He and his team removed the cactus (all couple hundred pounds of it) and the only-slightly-smaller cactus it fell on and broke. I have not actually used Ralph's services yet, but I plan to. After sending him some pictures of mistletoe in my mesquite, he said he could do it now, but it would be easier and less costly to hold off on cutting it out until the time of season when the tree is dormant. Ralph was very responsive to my needs and did a great job. Spent a lot of time figuring the best outcome of my big 30 foot high Palo Verde that lost a sizable branch due to inclement weather. After all the trimming, my tree looked great even with the big branch now off and managed to leave me some shade for my BBQ. Left the backyard cleaner than when he started hauling everything away in a proper manner, and managed to strategically trim the tree avoiding to go into the neighbor's backyard. Tree-mendous! Ralph, the owner, responded same day, with quote. On the appointed day( which was only a few days after the quote), he arrived on the dot and went into action. The palm trees in question were trimmed professionally and all debris cleaned up. A feat considering they were next to the pool. Great company! I called them in the morning, and they showed up within a half hour. They advised me on a small tree that looked like it was dying and we agreed it needed to go. Then the did a general clean-up of the whole yard, and it's the best it has looked in the 3 years I've lived here. I called on a Sunday and talked to Ralph to try and get a quote to have a general yard clean up prior to selling our home. Dried weeds and raking is really all the yard needed to look decent. Ralph indicated he was pretty busy but could come on Wednesday morning. I agreed and gave the address. By Thursday I still hadn't heard back nor did I see anyone stop by the house. Assuming I had missed seeing him come by I decided to call and see what his quote was. Good thing I did because not only did he not show up but he proceeded to tell me he was pretty busy (again) and that our home wasn't really in his desired work location. Basically I had waited 4 days for a quote from a person who never really wanted the job in the first place. When I told him he should have let me know that ahead of time, because I could have called another service, he changed his mind and said well I can give you a price over the phone. He hadn't even seen the yard but he was going to quote a price? His price was $300! To use a rake and pick up dried weeds? I told him never mind. He had no idea how large or small the yard even was. Tried to call this morning to get an estimate for trimming my large mesquite tree. Not knowing what the going rate is for services, I tried asking for a ballpark. The guy on the other end of the phone asked what I was looking to pay and then rattled off something that sounded like $300. I asked if he said $300 and he took that as me saying I wanted to pay $300, to which I said that seems ludicrous. I called for a tree trimming estimate, as suggested by their website. The man who answered the phone was extremely rude and unhelpful. He seemed confused by the call for an estimate and didn't know how to respond. He said he'd call me when he had time to give an estimate. I asked how long that might be, a day, week, month...give me something to work with. His response was "Well you aren't giving me much to work with!" I'm not sure how asking for a tree trimming estimate isn't giving him much to work with. Extremely terrible customer service.
