This is the company to hire for tree removal, trimming and other tree services. Richard and his team showed up on time and got to work immediately removing an enormous mesquite tree and another smaller one, trimming a long-neglected sumac and grinding and removing 2 stumps. Another two well known companies had given quotes -- much higher -- to simply do trimming, but Richard pointed out that the mesquite trees needed to be removed because of damage they'd already caused to the house. And Tree Monkey's price was much better than the other companies that just would have trimmed. The team works together in perfect coordination, every one of them is friendly and professional. I needed 2 trees removed because they were dead. I called Tree Monkey and Richard came out to give me an estimate. I also contacted 2 other companies. They were $400 more than Tree Monkey. I called Richard and told him to move forward with the removal and stump grinding. When Richard said "you will never know trees were in my yard", he wasn't kidding! My yard looks amazing! I had two small cholla that they carefully removed during the process so they wouldn't be damaged and then put them back when they were done. I will be hiring them to plant my new tree once the HOA approves it. I cannot say enough about how amazing the work ethic and customer service with this company has been. The guys with Tree Monkey did an absolutely fantastic job removing our pine tree today!!! As you can see from the pictures, the old pine had grown out over our house and it was giving me such anxiety just waiting for the day it toppled over, so, we decided to finally have it taken out. Richard came out and gave an estimate that we thought was extremely reasonable considering the task at hand. The team showed up today and we couldn't help but watch these masters in their element. There was not even a close call as far as a branch hitting the house. It was very apparent from watching these guys work that they know what they are doing and are extremely skilled at what they do. We elected to keep the big pieces of wood from the tree, and the guys did an impeccable job cleaning up the rest of the needles, pine cones and sawdust from the removal. Richard had trimmed an old tamarack tree in our H.O.A.'s common area about 3 years ago and showed us how badly decayed it was in several places. At the time we did not have the money to cut the whole tree down, as he had suggested, so just had them finish trimming. He told us he would give us a good discount whenever we could have it cut down, since we had already used his service. After sweating it out for three years, whether the tree would fall down every time we had strong winds, we decided it was time to call him back. We were surprised he still remembered us and remembered what he had told us about a discount. We were happy to get an excellent discounted estimate for tree removal and stump grinding, so a week later the crew was here and did a wonderful job cutting the tree down and grinding the stump. Even after running into a problem with a beehive in the tree, Richard and his crew handled the situation very professionally. As you can see in the before and after pictures, the whole area was cleaned up nicely before they left and it looks so much nicer with that old tree gone. We had a large Palo Verde tree next to our driveway that was damaging it and needed to be removed. Richard and his crew at Monkey Tree came out and did a wonderful job of removing the tree including root and restoring the ground so that it looks like it was never there. They were careful to also not damage two bushes and cacti that were next to the tree. They also did a fabulous job of cleaning up afterwards and making the area look clean. we just had a huge storm come in last week and it took down our ocotillo ..so we called tree monkey to come out and take a look and as richard walked through our backyard he saw our tree was leaning towards the neighbors house and the roots system was ubove grond. a problem in the very near future. so he gave us a very fair estimate to take care of both the ocotillo and the tree all in the same day. by noon our backyard looked better than it did before they came. they did an amazing job for us. but this wasn't the first time we've used them. the first time we used them they took out over grown cactus and a saguaro that was diseased. they gave us a 300.00 less expensive estimate than 2 others i had come out. they will always be our tree company. read more

I'd definitely recommend Tree Monkey. The crew showed up, got right to work and finished the job in record time. I had 8 oleanders and 1 palm tree that needed to be trimmed. The guys were respectful, helpful and were all around great! The price was reasonable and I appreciate Richard's quote and honesty. My only area of concern was communication. I initially called to arrange for an estimate and I had to leave a voice message...on a Friday. I didn't really expect a call back on a Friday. However, there was no call back the following week. I had to call back. Richard apologized for not returning my call. Scheduling the day/time for the estimate was easy, in fact Richard showed up early for the estimate. However there was no phone call or text letting me know he was on his way early. When we scheduled for the work to be completed, I was told I would be the first job of the day and not given a time frame. I could have also asked what 'first job of the day' meant. On the day of the job, I called Richard at 9 am to find out where the crew was as I had no idea when to expect them. Do not allow this company within a mile of an old growth healthy tree. While they are quick to cut and dispose of trimming, they lack the sense to selectively prune out the bad and leave the good. They took an almost 60 year old tree from majestic to ugly with over-zealous cutting significantly changing form and function as well as eliminating precious desert shade. Disclosure: I am not the property owner but a neighbor who enjoyed the beauty and shade of this tree at my property line. The neighbor and I had agreed to save this tree (which was part of a line of trees to be removed). I had talked with TM lead Richard before starting and he noted that the owner had requested certain services which I could not recommend--eg tree topping. While Richard agreed that it was not a good choice, he fell back on "that's what the owner wants". (I later informed the owner that this was not a good practice and it may cause regrowth that could be problematic.) I expect an "expert" in the field to communicate with his clients about best practices, options and consequences. I expect a tree service to be competent in its work and respectfully act to preserve form and beauty. I am saddened and will look at this travesty every day. For those seeking tree services, remember that your tree may have effect on your neighbor. Get them involved early in the process. If something is questionable, get a second opinion. read more

I stayed home and waited around all day to be here when they showed up If they have no respect for the cost of taking a day off, why would I believe they would show up to perform the job when agreed, Other companies requested and were provided photos of the trees I want removed and some were able to provide a quote or at least found the drone photos I provided helpful (size of trees, view from multiple angles, location on property and access areas) but Richard said the pictures had no value and he needed to come out to give an accurate quote. Fine with me, but if you want my business you have to provie much better communication and customer service. A good start is showing up when you say you will. We hired Tree Monkey to trip the mistletoe out of our large mesquite tree, and remove three palo verde trees from our back yard. The mesquite tree got trimmed, and the palo verde trees got removed...but that's about all the good I can say. The unprofessionalism of the crew was pretty disappointing. Richard was nice enough, even though he showed up several hours earlier than expected for the estimate. Then after I had agreed to have Tree Monkey do the work, I never got a call back to actually schedule a date. The crew just showed up unannounced at the house one day. Luckily I was working from home, but I had a very busy work schedule, so it was pretty stressful trying to get the crew into the back yard, and move the car out of the driveway, etc. I also didn't have time to inspect everything when they were done, so I just cut a check and went back to work. I didn't realize until later that the back yard was left a complete mess. All the patio furniture had been pulled out into the yard, and left there. A part of our fence was damaged, all three gates were left open (we have a dog who goes in the back), and a large barrel cactus was knocked over and unsalvageable. The crew didn't mention any of those things. They just billed me and took off. I discovered all that after I had finished working for the day and finally went out to look at the yard. Overall, I was very disappointed with the communication and the work ethic of the company. I had the Tree Monkey Team out today to trim up 2 trees a Mesquite I planted 20 years ago along with a Palo Verde that is at least 50 years old. I had concerns about trimming this tree in particular as it had a lot of dead wood in it and was not sure how it would turn out. My concerns were for not, as from start to finish the job was done with plenty of forethought prior to making each cut. The tree turned out beautiful and is much healthier. A couple weeks ago Richard and his crew came to top a few trees in the back of my house. They talked me into removing them, (3) and I asked them not to damage the wash between my home and the neighbours and if so to please fix the rocks, they left it destroyed, and then they charged me $250 to kill the stumps and I had the "stump killer" tested and they used some kind of tool oil. Not what they said. So they charged me $250 to put tool oil on my stumps. My estimate for my wash is $3200 to recement the rocks in the side walls. I will NEVER use them again. They are rude and don't really care about property. Makes me wonder how many of these reviews are fake. They also left the back of my wall a mess. Just raked it all and tried to hide it. read more

Richard did a good job of trimming some big trees on our property. However, one of his employees backed into our saguaro cactus on May 14, 2022 and has not been replaced. He reassured me it would be. Richard just contacted me and he said he would be over today July 11 to replace the cactus. We were pleased with his work and I would recommend his tree service.
