On the initial visit they reviewed all of the new tree plantings on our proprty and gave us feedback Noting that some of the trees were planted too deep. They presented a solution for this problem which is redoing the grade around the trees. After reviewing their proposal which included trimming trees, grading for the trees that were planted too deep, and fertilizing. We took them up on the tree trimming service to see if we'd be happy with their service, and in the fall we'll revisit the other items on their proposal. The crew did a great job and left our yard very clean. I found them to be polite and professional. We are satisfied and plan to schedule them again in the fall. read more

Bartlett and another company were referred to us by a reputable local nursery. We have a bottle tree that had been looking worse and worse. We did not want to lose it and were very concerned. A really knowledgeable arborist came out and spent a lot of time with us. He explained what was going on with the tree and suggested treatment for both the bottle tree and a nearby tree and watering schedules that we have been following since his visit. 5 start rating for Seth Buell and Bartlett trees, but especially for Seth. We were very lucky to get him as our arborist for our recent project with the trees in our yard. Besides being very friendly and professional, he genuinely cares about trees and is very eager to answer questions and share knowledge. We discussed all our concerns and he gave us quite a few options. It was important to us to preserve tree health while removing dead branches and pulling the tree back from a neighbors yard as well as addressing wind loading. Seth was able to show us with a laser pointer which branches we could remove and why we should consider different options, each one with respect to both tree impacts and addressing concerns. It was very important to us to know about tree stability and overall health. He showed us features of the roots and shape and branches on both trees and what issues the trees could have and if there were any signs. We agreed to the proposal and he and his crew showed up on time and willing to talk to our neighbor and HOA as well. They answered all questions and made sure what we wanted, then climbed the trees and went to work. We had them go even further to keep it further confined to our yard. After they did a nice job of cleaning. Seth, who is an ISA licensed arborist with a degree, communicated many times by phone and email throughout this and remained very professional, friendly and, we felt went above and beyond. He was a true champion for our trees. Bartlett isn't cheap but we very much got our money's worth and definitely got the benefit of someone who knows trees rather than a landscaper just ready to slash and leave stubs and unhealthy wounds. The HOAs arborist inspected after and praised the work as well, saying how what was done was appropriate and would lead to good future growth. Have a huge -- and old -- eucalyptus tree at my property and I was getting worried about its health in high winds. Bartlett Tree evaluated the situation and their team worked carefully, swiftly and with the highest level of professionalism. Cleaned up meticulously after they were done. Basically, that old eucalyptus tree has had an extreme makeover and looks 20 years younger. It was always a showcase tree and now it's got that wow factor when you come into the property. I also had three mesquite trees that had insect damage. Rick with Bartlett immediately diagnosed the problem and got them on a program so that they are now healthy and thriving. On another visit, they fixed the bad trim job that a landscape company did on another mesquite tree and now it's growing into its true beauty. They show up on time, they send estimates that are clear and easy to understand and they send those when promised and do professional work. Cannot think of any improvements to their service. Sam and Jeremy did a thorough and neat job trimming our 5 citrus trees. My wife has an eye for detail, knows what she wants, and was completely satisfied. The formerly unkempt trees now look vastly better. It will also be a lot easier to get under the canopies to blow out the leaves without all those low hanging branches. With citrus trees you must have people who know what they're doing, not some shlunks who are going to scalp and probably damage your trees. This is the second time we've had Bartlett trim our trees. The next time the trees need work we will definitely call Greg at Bartlett. read more

Further update from my review of 10/1/14: June came around. I contacted the Bartlett rep to ask for the service which was promised, because the rep had said that June was the month for this (Beetle treatment for a Palo Verde tree). I was put off. Then supposedly in August, the work was going to be done when I was not home. But there was absolutely no disturbance around the tree and no notice on my door. When I contacted the Bartlet rep about this he said he would check with his guy and get back to me. A few calls and e-mails of follow up on my part since then have yielded the same "I'll get back to you" answer. Still, nothing. I believe I was led on and being brushed off. That is not a good feeling. Their work is good, which is why I give them 2 stars instead of 1. Their business practices leave me gasping. I will be using a different tree service in the future. I cannot recommend them. read more

Kevin who supervised the removal has 19 years of experience and his expertise was clearly evident during the process. His partners, Sam and Emelio, also were first rate. We have been trying to rid our yard of mesquite trees since we moved into our house in 2013. We've cut down as many as 50 in varying sizes but the stumps continue to plague us as they grow back. Bartlett's came in and a) removed the stumps, b) ground up the remnants of the trees that we had cut down to prepare for them, and c) left us a lovely pile of organic, fresh mesquite mulch. They worked steadily despite the wind and the rain and left our yard pristine. Greg also gave us some tips on how to increase the growth and yield in the orchard. I highly recommend them. read more

I contacted Bartlett to ask them to drive a long way, to Cochise, AZ, to look at the trees on my property. I have about 10 deciduous trees on my property in the desert that had some dead branches. I was very concerned about the trees as it is rare to have trees like mine in the desert. I had purchased the property two years earlier. The original owner had installed a drip system to water all the trees. Unfortunately, for about two years prior to my purchase of the property, a second owner had NOT used the drip system. Seth Buell from Bartlett made the long drive to where I live and spent almost an hour inspecting my trees and communicating to me what he saw as the issues with the trees as well as options for the ongoing care of the trees. Seth did an amazing job and he left me feeling confident that I can maintain and care for my trees successfully. Seth inspected all my trees, not only the ones I was concerned about as well as most of the other vegetation on my property. Seth was very professional and very friendly. If you have valuable plantings that you would like to protect from pests, these folks know what they're doing. We have some exotic agaves and cactus, and found them under attack from grubs. No more, thanks to Bartlett. No, they may not be cheapest, but they are experts. The young woman who came out today for a second treatment (I wish I'd gotten her name) was incredibly knowledgable, friendly, polite, and concerned. She was VERY thorough. These experts are really experts. I have lived for 25 years surrounded by trees but only now have found the real tree experts after having used several different companies over the years. My trees were expertly shaped and pruned by them and the surrounding plants were not harmed (as can so often happen). They made sure that anything which may be harmed by falling branches and could be moved was taken out of the way (after they took a photo so they could replace things as they were). They cleaned up very well after their work. They have to be the best in Tucson! Oh, and by the way, they are very happy people, proud of their work and pleasant to work with. read more

I was on the phone with my 83-year-old mother tonight, and she lives in the Tucson area. She was raving (in the awesome sense) about the Bartlett Tree company, and how great they've been for her. Sitting in front of my computer at the time, I googled Bartlett Tree company in Tucson, and saw this one very negative review. The vast difference in what my mother was saying as I was reading this negative review has caused me to write this review. She hired them within the last year to re-do some trees and plants in her garden, and she was Tremendously Happy. (I had told her that she needed an arborist, not just someone who would trim her trees, because whomever she had earlier did a terrible job.) She had googled "arborist" in the Tucson area, and found Bartlett, and is beyond happy with their service. She recently had someone from Bartlett come back out to look at a tree that they had planted and it was growing extremely well. There was some sort of offshoot on the tree (sorry, can't think of what it's called), but it was like a whole new trunk growing up. The Bartlett Tree rep went out to his truck, go a tool, and took the offshoot off, and wouldn't accept any payment. He simply said, Just call us next spring and we'll come back out. My mother couldn't be happier, and when I saw her garden last month, I was beyond pleased at how well it looked compared to the pre-Bartlett days. So please understand that there are those who are not satisfied, and there are those who are. And my mother is one who raves over how well she's been treated by Bartlett. Thanks for your time. I just want to be fair and give praise when praise is due. Oh, and my mother is not one to spend money in a crazy way. She watches her money carefully. She felt they gave a great value for whatever she was charged. read more

Do not recommend to hire this company. I called to have a tree straightened and an estimator came out and said it was an $85.00 job but there was a minimum of $260.00 travel time. I agreed to pay the full amount. The crew came and blew compressed air around the tree and said the roots would not allow it to be straightened and the tree would die. The cost for a new tree: @ $450.00....plus the $260.00 since they had to come back again. They are not experts in tree care as I read on the internet how to straighten a tree and did it myself with no problems and about 1 hour of work. The tree is growing well, healthy, and upright. The estimator may be the manager of the local company but he did not follow up or come back to look at the tree after the crew said it could not be straightened. Looks to me like the old "old dog and pony show". The insult now is that they are billing out of Connecticut for $426.30 and no one there knows what has happened here. Strange. Be wary. I would find a local company to do any future work. read more
