We popped into Nicholas Firewood to purchase a small barrel of wood for our fireplace. The yard was a little disorganized. It was hard to know which wood was which, but the attendant, Kenneth was super nice to us and knowledgeable. We took home some pecan and juniper. The juniper cracks and pops and promised and boy does the pecan burn hot! Overall a positive experience. We'd go back. Hoping the next time the selection is a little more robust. They do home deliveries too if you have a large order. read more

I can only comment on their mesquite and customer service. If you smoke with mesquite splits in an offset, you need to come to Nicholas Firewood. I used to buy my mesquite splits in a bag at a hardware store. Needless to say, I will only get my mesquite from this place. The mesquite burned a lot better and was a way cheaper option. When I came here, the employee (shame on me for not remembering your name) climbed on top of the wood pile and chucked dry splits down to be loaded in the wheelbarrow. I firsthand witnessed him picking up splits and checking them before either throwing the splits down or returning them back into the pile. This guy gave me good splits that were dry and ready to burn. He then came down and helped me load the splits into my car. The lady that cashed me out (again, sorry for not recalling your name) was nice as well. $45 got me way way WAYYYYY more wood than I expected. I've done several cooks and still have a ton waiting to burn. If you need mesquite for offset smoking, this place will give you good quality splits, at a cheaper price, and with exceptional customer service. If you are looking for firewood for a fire pit or a fireplace, I imagine you'll get similar satisfaction out of this place. I highly recommend Nicholas Firewood! read more

We are regulars here. Friendly, great service. For our pizza oven and fire-pit we need Oak or Pecan for clean and low ash fires. They have it, they will help with sizes (pizza oven needs thin slices), it is reasonably priced for all size loads. Where to start... how about at the beginning. First, I'm a two year customer, and not related to the business, its owners or anyone employed there. Second for two years I've had to do NO MORE THAN ONE PHONE CALL to get wood delivered within 48 hours exactly to my specifications. Last year it was mesquite and pecan. This year mesquite and eucalyptus -- and I asked for larger logs because the fireplace eats them slower and they delivered. The window was 12PM-2PM. The driver called at 11:55AM and said he was 20 minutes out. Sure enough at 12:15 he showed up. He was courteous, polite, professional, and easy-going. He dumped the firewood and carefully stacked it up on my packrat-shelf. The packrat-shelf is made up of cinder blocks elevating the wood. It's not difficult to work with but it means a lot more lifting. The sides need to be stacked cross-hatch to prevent the pile spilling over. He did all that. The price is better than the other place I've used the previous 18 years. The service is quicker ("We'll be there tomorrow" vs "We'll be in your neighborhood next week") and better (no extra special "we had to walk more than 6 ft from our truck so we bill you more).
