Valley Oasis Landscaping had a stellar review - works within budget, timely, and a beautiful. They did not disappoint. The designer brought to reality my vision of a yard with trees and organic (curvy) design. Soft nightlights, a grill area, fruit trees, and pavers. Colors came together beautifully. It is an absolute oasis! I cannot thank enough, the owner who oversaw the entire project from start to finish via daily email from the foreman, the foreman making sure pavers, grass, trees, grill, and the lighting professionals worked in sequence and smoothly, the accountant who informed me and kept me abreast of the balance, and all behind the scenes who made my backyard stellar and inviting. After that I received a quote from all of them within 48 hours. The reason I decided to go with AZ Custom Landscapes was because I was very impressed with how Martin explained the project to me and he was the only one who mentioned a weed barrier for the areas where I wanted to add small rocks. It was easy to work with Kary during the entire project and her responses to my question were quick especially to my design changes. Also, their price fell somewhere in the middle of the 4 quotes I received and it came with a 2 year guarantee. When the project started, Martin walked me through what he and his team will be doing during the week. Once they got done, they cleaned everything nicely and walked me through to get my approval. I was very impressed with the work and really enjoyed working with Martin. I strongly recommend AZ Custom Landscapes to anyone looking to get great quality landscaping done for a reasonable price! I will be using them for future backyard projects.

They did all the site prep, installed all the tile pavers, a concrete slab for a hot tub and artificial turf. They also built a built-in BBQ for me and ran the natural gas to the BBQ.  Before I hired them, I bid the job out to three different companies.  AZ Custom Landscapes was the most professional throughout that process, and the only company that gave me a detailed bid in only a couple of days (the others took much longer!) and the only that could do it all themselves. Martín and the rest of the workers were professional, respectful and hardworking.  They showed up when they were scheduled to, worked long days and always cleaned up the job site at the end of the day. They worked with me on fine-tuning some of the details of the job, and helped me with a few extras that weren't on the list! It was obvious that Martín really cares about the quality of his work, which is rare these days. Professional, fair and top quality work.  I highly recommend AZ Custom Landscapes!!

She designed unique railings which helped define our patio space, chose comfortable and affordable furniture, and helped guide the much-needed change from an asphalt to an aggregate (concrete) driveway. We are very happy with the low care desert landscape. She encouraged us to spend extra money on a new locally made metal door, and to forego other changes we were considering that (I now realize) would have been a waste of money. We get a ton of compliments on our new bright green bench (made from recycled bottles) and our custom door! Kathryn was always available, and saw the work through from design to fabrication to installation. The contractors she introduced to complete the project were also a pleasure to work with. Kathryn brings enthusiasm and energy to the table, and is very talented. Our experience with Kathryn Pirdeux was absolutely unacceptable and, frankly, one of the worst…read moreexperiences we have had with any professional involved in our home project. I would strongly caution anyone considering hiring her to think very carefully before paying her any money. The entire process dragged on endlessly. It took an unreasonable amount of time just to receive the landscape design, and throughout that process there was virtually no meaningful discussion with us about what we wanted, how the design was evolving, or whether it actually reflected our vision for the property. When the design was finally delivered, after all that time and expense, we found the overall quality to be substandard and nowhere close to what we expected from someone presenting herself as a professional landscape designer. What was especially frustrating was the constant focus on billing. It felt as though every conversation, every minute, and every interaction meant another charge. We were paying and paying while seeing very little meaningful progress or value in return. In our experience, collecting fees seemed to be handled with far more urgency than actually delivering a thoughtful, high-quality landscape design. Even worse, after taking our money, we were essentially left high and dry. There was no proper collaborative review of the final landscape plan with us and, to our knowledge, no submission of the landscape plans to the HOA. We were left wondering exactly what we had paid all this money for. This is not remotely the level of professionalism we expected for a custom home project. A professional designer should listen to the client, communicate, collaborate, provide timely work, produce a design commensurate with the fees being charged, and follow the project through. Our experience with Kathryn was the opposite: excessive delays, poor communication, constant billing, a disappointing design, and ultimately no satisfactory completion of the work. The most upsetting part is that we trusted her with an important and expensive part of our home and paid her expecting professional service. Instead, we were left with an enormous sense that we had spent a significant amount of money and received remarkably little in return. I would absolutely not hire Kathryn Pirdeux again, and I cannot recommend her based on our experience. Anyone considering working with her should insist on a detailed written scope, specific deliverables, firm deadlines, a clear limit on billable time, responsibility for HOA submissions, and defined payment milestones before paying anything. Our biggest regret is that we did not walk away sooner.

We had a large patch of artificial turf installed with a concrete paver boarder, and several stepping stones leading to patio and back gate. They also installed an irrigation line all the way around the perimeter of the yard (roughly 50' x 40' square) so we can plant trees along the outside wall. The project was affordable considering the size of our yard, and the end result is great. My kids now have a wonderful place to play right outside the sliding door. I had them install pavers for a walk way, that I stated was very important to set a slope for drainage. Well, the last rain storm I noticed the water was backing up instead of running away from the house. It washed the dirt away from a fountain basin they installed, and the next morning, it was leaning side ways. So I had to remove it, and there was no support in the center, so now I found out why the basin was bowing in the center. (Pic of Basin Lifted on one end) And this was after I pushed it down 4 or 5 inches until it wouldnt go down any futher. Which is why I had to remover the Basin An electrical outlet was loose on the wall to power the Fountain Pump. There was a 4 inch wooden dowels shoved into 3/4" holes, pushed into the wall, past thru the vapor barrier. And the electrical box had a wood screw in the dowel to hold it agaisnt the house, which it wasnt doing any longer. And with NO sealer. A big NO-NO. Another Amatuer mistake they made, they installed the water to the fountain from a outside spigot. They cut the copper pipe off and had a sharkbite, so close to the house stucco, it was almost impossible to remove, and then solder a coupling to it was also almost inpossible. "AND", they had a steel galvanized TEE fitting, connected to copper pipe. ANOTHER BIG NO-NO. This causes "galvanic corrosion", and will eventally eat away at the copper pipe running into the house. When they where cutting pavers (dry), they did not cover 2 brand new outdoor barbecue grills that cost $5k. Or the fountain basin. All three was coated deep with paver dust inside. I could go one with more things that was not professional done. I wasnt living here full time, and was unable to see their work. Now its coming back to bite me. Part of me says I should have them come back and fix the things. But I have no trust in their skills now. Very frustrated at the quality for $45k of work.
