The honey oat latte (w/ one pump of honey) was superr tasty! Only thing is that it's kind of expensive ($5 for a "tall") and it took them forever to make our drinks. Would come back for sure, but will do the online ordering ahead of time. read more

Fantastic little coffee shop with delicious items. I had just ordered the Mango Delight smoothie and before I could even get a taste I spilled half of the smoothie. Came here for afternoon tea and had their matcha waffles and green tea latte. The waffles itself are delicious and well made along with the matcha sauce and whipped cream. The latte had a decent green tea flavor but it was a little pricey ($4) for a small one filled with lots of ice. However the food and drinks are all great and will be back to try their toasts and other items. read more

Also there aren't many cafes on this side of the city -- it's literally right across my neighborhood, so that's a major plus for me..hehe :) It's also a great place to study/work - solid wifi, relaxing ambiance, music at a good volume. I hate coffee shops that blast music so loud I have to turn up my headphones to max volume (I swear, some cafes have me leaving almost deaf...). So far I've tried the matcha latte and churro waffle. I love coming here! The food and drinks are so fresh! I usually call in my order and they have it ready by the time I arrive. I highly recommend the Ice vanilla Sf latte, add lavender with soy milk. I've tried this mix at any other cafes and it never tasted like it does here. It may be a mix of the beans, the monin syrups and silk soy milk. They all bring joy to my heart. Lastly, I also love the avocado toast with a Poached egg. Simple the best breakfast/ brunch or lunch item for myself. Thank you all for always greeting me and everyone around me with a smile. Tons of space in the private parking lot. Cute cafe with 5 tables and seats. Order at the counter and pick a seat. We tried the matcha waffle, breakfast burrito, honey lavender latte less sweet, and cold brew with cream top. Overall decent coffee and food. Came here for a quick pick me up. This place must be new because I haven't notice it when I go to the adjacent Nail Salon. The A/C is comfortable. The crowd is very quiet . I'm assuming college students. The cafe music playlist is 90's music which is awesome . Since I'm an 80's baby. Lol The staff is very welcoming and friendly. I tried something out of the ordinary: Iced lavender latte with Soy milk. The Soy milk is an additional .50 cents. Wow, I can totally taste the lavender flavor. It's not overpowering. I had some errands to run yesterday and had gotten hungry. I looked on yelp and had come across this little hidden gem. The menu is limited, but the avocado toast sounded amazing. I'm usually a breakfast burrito kind of person, but that day I was craving something fresh. I placed my order and added the optional egg for an additional $1. At first, when I received my breakfast, I made a mental note to order two eggs next time so that there was one on top of each slice of toast. But after I ate my food, I realized I would not have had any room for that extra egg. In addition to my breakfast, I also had ordered an iced vanilla late. I could taste that they used real vanilla and not the same junk that other coffee places use. If not real vanilla, then something that tastes very similar. It was also lightly flavored which I liked. I left the establishment with a full tummy and very happy. Pros: WiFi available Delicious coffee Great food Comfortable setting Friendly Staff Wonderful service Affordable prices Cons (I had to dig deep for this): Coffee could have been a bit stronger - but I'll order an extra shot of espresso next time. More than just your average coffee shop. Roots Café also offers waffles, toast, bagels, and sandwiches! They have a pretty chill vibe - perfect space for studying or catching up with friends. The guy that helped me was very friendly and welcoming. I was craving a peach black tea which wasn't on the menu, but he was able to make one for me. I also ordered their avocado toast ($7) that I highly recommend getting. It's healthy, filling and delicious! I hate to be rating coffee shops over food considering it's a coffee shop but if they serve it, I'm gonna try it. I am a coffee addict and a lot of coffee shops do food well.. I'll try a coffee shop twice until I write it off. I ordered the Chagaccino and a Cubano. Cubano was probably the worst I've ever had, 1 star, probably ask for a refund if I didn't order it out. The bread was not toasted properly (maybe they threw it in for like a minute?) and it was hard to chew as if they threw it in the microwave. They threw in a couple slices of ham, I wanna say legit like 3? They charged me $8 for it. Idk if this can be considered a Cubano or ham and cheese with mustard (I know essentially this is what it is). They didn't even melt the cheese all the way because when you melt the cheese and it gets solidified, there is evidence that it was melted in the first place.... it does not solidify as blocks/chunks of cheese. For the coffee, it's OK. Nothing special. Kind of taste watered down with too much milk and light roast coffee. I'll most likely write this place off the first time around unless I wanna try their milk teas one day. read more

I was in the area and had a craving for a milk tea. Roots has a good rating and a few tea offerings, so I found myself here. After examining the menu I selected the Large size Lavender Milk Tea with Whole Milk. I watched them make it, they did use whole milk, and it was creamy without producing phlegm. The lavender flavor can be customized but only slightly. Roots uses a lavender powder, which itself is not sweet, but the baristas do not make odd proportion drinks and any customizations rely on the skill of the barista on staff. With a slightly smaller amount of the lavender powder added, I still found the sweetness level of the whole drink to be right at the top of what I tolerate (for reference I usually get 25% sweetness at most tea shoppes). This large size would be a medium at most other places, but the price is commensurate with the volume. I would return if in the area to get more tea and try some food items out. read more

Late breakfast early lunch on a Sunday. Avocado toast with egg and bacon bits, nitro cold brew, bacon and egg waffle, and a strawberry match latte. This is what we ordered. Staff is very nice. I asked about the egg on top of the toast, and the gal said "poached like" you could opt for scrambled. Over all food was very good. Solid 4 stars. It would of been 5 star if my egg had actually been a poached egg. Same with egg on the waffle. Strawberry matcha latte was good. We'd more than likely be back. I love coffee, but lately it has been boring as most places I visit are big chain coffee stores and small private ones that are just not that good. But when I stumbled into this place with some friends on morning, I was enlightened. This week, I visited three times. THREE (and counting)! I ordered the same items (except for the third visit); Iced Mocha and the Ham and Cheese sandwich (it comes with Jalapeno, but I asked for it to be removed because I dont do well with them personally and I added the egg in it for a $1 extra). Gosh it was so good... The sandwich has a little kick, perfect for me. The cheese, ham, egg and the bread was just heavenly. The mocha has very rich flavors, as well as the espresso they use. It is a perfect blend of sweet and bitter which I really enjoy (most mochas I had were too sweet, cant enjoy the espresso as much). The third visit, I ordered the same drink, but this time I got the Pepperoni Pizza. Now, I'm not a huge marinara sauce fan but this was different. I loved it! It was in a sandwich style (the bread is so good too). Lastly, the workers there are super affable. They create a very friendly and inviting atmosphere anytime of the day. And the place is so clean! Yum, yum, and more yum!!! I found this gem a couple weeks ago when I was in the area to run errands and visit my in laws. Since then I've been back 2 other times and each time, the quality and taste have been impeccable. Didn't get pics of all that I tried, my food pic skills wouldn't have done them justice anyway.. Green apple slush - must try. It's not too sweet and refreshing. Reminds me of the korean taste I oh so love (reminiscent of childhood). Cereal milk smoothie - I didn't order it, but a friend of mine did so I tried it. SOOO DELICIOUS it's a perfect dessert in a cup. I only had a couple sips though Bc I'm lactose intolerant, but I asked and they said they can substitute with almond milk or soy. Taro milk tea - I think this place might be my fave and only bc it's a perfect amount of sweetness. I don't like my drinks too sweet, and the restraint on this one impressed me!! Grapefruit slush - this one was very refreshing too, on par with the green apple slush My husband tried their coffees (I'm pregnant so I had to resist) he had the latte and cold brew, he said both were really good too. LAST, BUT NOT LEAST.....the CHURRO WAFFLES. Oh em geee chewy, sweet, baked goodness topped with ice cream and whipped cream (yes, I had to practice restraint on the creams due to the intolerance again). I've come to love this little cafe. It's really cute and homey, very spacious as well. I've tried their ham and cheese jalepeno melt and I love it for a quick bite to eat. I also tried their lavender milk tea and honestly this is my favorite place to go to for lavender milk tea. Everything is in perfect balance when it comes to the sweetness. I will definitely be coming back here again to try their bountiful menu. The one complaint I do have is that the WiFi is not the best, so this is not the best place to do elaborate online studying.
