Wonderful lunch

Went for a friend's birthday and everything from the food to the service was excellent. Waitress heard it was a birthday and surprised my friend with an ice cream and candle . Sat outside in the sun with views of old town and the bay.

Date night perfection. When you arrive, take the elevator to the Rooftop. We were seated right away, with options inside or outside on the rooftop. The had some heat lamps to help keep you warm on the rooftop. The atmosphere strikes the right balance of casual and elevated, perfect for a relaxed night out. Service was outstanding--attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. The menu is packed with tempting choices. We ordered the Surf & Turf, Lion King, and Ocean Queen--just the right amount to share. The Ocean Queen was the standout, with rich lobster and crab that were perfectly prepared. The Surf & Turf, topped with seared wagyu, was flavorful, though I'd suggest asking for it cooked more if you prefer your beef less rare. Every roll delivered on freshness and creativity, making them well worth the cost. The Gaijin Fries were a surprise hit--crispy, bold, and addictive. We rounded out the night with a few beers and hot sake, which hit the spot. Highly recommend if you're in the area. Great food, excellent service, and an easygoing vibe that makes it a spot you'll want to return to.

Rooftop Sushi easily has the best location in town--the rooftop setting is adorable and not something you see often around here. That said, for a place that requires reservations and has such a great concept, I expected the sushi to be amazing. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. I've honestly had better sushi at H Mart. I'd likely still come back for a family birthday just because the location and layout are so cute.

Great food, service was excellent. Nice rooftop restaurant, views are of the city, not the bay or beach. Recommend to try it. Suggest to make reservations .

We had 2 rolls - Himachi & Dynamite. Both were delicious! Himachi was more traditional with limited sauces (which I personally love!) and the Dynamite was more sauce forward. We enjoyed them with the hot Sake. We were there around 8 pm on a Thursday and it was a quiet night. We sat indoors due to the temperature drop around this time and I was in shorts from the day activities in the area. But the outdoors patio is heated and cozy. The service was speedy and friendly! Our server made excellent recommendations. We enjoyed the experience and will be returning on a future trip to this area!

Third time we've eaten here and we love everything we've tried! The food is delicious and fresh and the service is excellent. Beautiful scenery on top of a building next to the Eureka Bay.

I was in town visiting my sister and we came here, the food and service was amazing. It's rooftop and for sure there's a view! It was a little chilly but they had heaters and it definitely helped! The food came out quick. They have gender neutral restrooms! Def will be coming back!

This place is fine. I mean the food isn't the best sushi in town by far (Sushi Spot, Bayfront, and Kome are all much better) but it's still good. The guy who owns this restaurant owns other restaurants in Humboldt and the only two times I've had food poisoning were from both of his restaurants (Nori and Venicia) so when I started feeling a little unwell after dinner I was worried but so far so good. The wait time was long as usual. If you want to be done eating in under two hours don't plan on it. They have a very small kitchen so it takes insanely long to get any sort of food. It took almost an hour just to get seaweed salad which is already made I'm guessing. We came here on the night of graduation so it was packed but it usually takes that long to get any sort of food. If you're really hungry don't come here if you want food quickly.

We came here for a special evening and enjoyed sushi on the rooftop patio. The service was fantastic, everyone was on top of it, friendly, helpful and really great at their jobs! The sushi was nice, the fish was fresh, the combinations were inventive. Truthfully the only negative is that we ordered hot tea to stay warm and it was cold pretty quickly in its metal pot on our cold table. It would be nice to have hot tea. A very small problem, more like a suggestion, it certainly won't keep us from coming back.

Top Seller roll, highly recommend this one!

Great food, great view, staff were very friendly, food prices were very fair for the quality, will definitely be back!!! We had the Lion King roll, the Top Seller roll (beautiful presentation!) Veg Ramen, scallop hand roll, spicy tuna roll, and miso soup. Everything was above expectation and beautifully presented.

Salmon Ikura Don (ordered without the salmon roe)

2 of 2 Yelp reviews…read more Quality/Quantity - A suggestion from Humboldt Bay Provisions and a home run! Today we got the following: Spicy Garlic Chicken Fries - #1 seller, so I have to try. Boy have I been eating so unhealthy on this trip, but you know that because you are following. Is that part of the reason I am having so much fun? This did not disappoint. I did not think it was very spicy, but my daughter said it was too spicy for her. Good thing she ordered the mild version of garlic chicken; see below. Decent portions. Garlic Chicken - A more mild version of the above. But with rice and mac rather than fries. A slightly healthier version. Ahi Poke Bowl - My wife's choice. Generous portions, especially the tuna; thank you. Because this is raw, we "forced" ourselves to finish this dish first. So good. And to wash it down, supporting local, Sticky Finger IPA. Ambiance - Small local business. The food truck was parked in the rear of the building. Due to the rain, I did not take pictures. Plenty of mall parking. Open 5 days a week, 11:30am to 7pm; closed on Monday and Tuesday. Service - Counter service. Overall okay. Price - $62 + tip. Reasonably priced as we pretty much took an entree to-go. We are light eaters. Owner Comment - Aloha, congrats on your success since 2017; we will be back!

The macaroni salad is amazing and I am still drooling over the Teri bbq chicken. I haven't been inside the restaurant yet, but the food is GOOD. I have been to the food truck and it's good there too, the only downside is the food wasn't heated up evenly and I got cold spots in the chicken, luckily it wasn't icy! If the line wasn't so crazy I would have asked for more heat up. Can't wait to eat in person soon!

It's your #1 place for nondescript bites of gristly thigh-meat and steamed cabbage/vegetable mix…read moreover rice or noodles! If you've ever been to a quick order Japanese teriyaki joint in any mall, you probably already know what to expect here. Beef, chicken, or shrimp (or a combination thereof) over fried/steamed rice or chow mein noodles with a steamed veggie mix on the side. Double chicken for a couple bucks more. All cooked to order on a grill right out front. Maybe some questionable boxed sushi as well. I usually get the teriyaki chicken meal with steamed rice and veggies. While this is definitely mall food (the bar isn't that high) I do have to say that things have changed for the worse over the past half-year or so that I've eaten there. I stopped recently because along with the subpar chicken, the sauce has gotten worse too. My beef with the chicken (Nyuk nyuk nyuk) is that the pieces tend to be gristly and thigh meat in general is pretty high in fat. The real nail in the coffin though is the sauce. In the past few months, something about the teriyaki sauce has changed to where there's no sweetness to it, and a lack of a distinct soy flavor which to me are essential parts of the flavor of teriyaki. As such it tastes more like a watered-down gravy which just doesn't resemble teriyaki at all. The last time I ate there I was about 1/4 of the way through my meal when I thought "I don't like the chicken and I don't like the sauce.....why am I eating this?" So I ditched it and haven't been back since. So all that really leaves is one star for decent service.

I'm hoping this helps another vegan out there, or anyone really. We came in for an early ish dinner. At the time it was pretty mellow but that was appreciated because we just needed to relax and enjoy sitting down after hiking the last few days. Something fresh and not too rich where we could take out time and not feel gross. I was curious about the soul options being vegan or not because miso usually isn't, but they had this yummy sounding mushroom and veggie broth soup with vegetables and tofu (I think it's called Kenshin jiru but I might be absolutely butchering that). GET IT! It's not too heavy but has such a great flavor, plus the fresh veggies and bits of raw tofu for protein (they accidentally forgot the tofu but when I asked my server if they could just bring it on the side for me they were super nice about it). I also got some standard edamame and avocado maki roll, both of these were "fine", they did the trick but weren't amazing. My partner had the large hot sake which he loved, and then a tuna maki roll and the omakase nigiri. Same thing with his maki, fine nothing to write home about, but he loooved his omakase. They didn't tell us what was on it but I think it was albacore, salmon, salmon roe, mackerel, yellowtail, and tuna. He said it was some of the best tasting fish/nigiri he's had in a while. Our server was great at refilling our waters and checking in making sure we had everything and was just very sweet, so we appreciated them a lot. We'd definitely recommend!

We ordered a lot but it took far too long especially being the only two people in the entire place. The sushi rice was over handled and gummy. Went into the humidor selected 3 $15 sticks looked around for a good bourbon to pair with them, then stepped up to the register to pay. At that point I asked if they had a public restroom, to which the clerk replied " is that why you drove over the curb, because you had to pee?" Neverminded I'd been in the store for more than 5 minutes, I was making a near $50 purchase, have spent hundreds if not a thousand previous dollars( I know he had no way of knowing this) in their store, had a dress shirt and tie on, only to be treated like a typical Humboldt tweaker. I never thought that I would find a humidor like the one at John's. I walked into the humidor and was pleased with the huge selection of brands. I rolled a number of cigars between my fingers and they were all "cigar" soft yet firm, as one would expect. None were hard. I bought an Arturo Fuente, i forget what type but it was about 42 ring and 6" long. I lit it up after a couple days it was a single match (no torch) cigar! Best cigar I've had in awhile! After walking through the humidor I strolled around the spirits shelves. They have quite an extensive selection of all spirits, some local, some that you see all the time on bar/restaurant menus, and some brands that you may have never seen before. I'm a vodka drinker and there were a handful of different of brands that I haven't seen before. And then there was the wine in the back. I didn't spend much time there, but long enough to know that they have a great selection of wines. I will be back!
