My experience with John was overall good. At first, my impression was pretty good when he came and gave me an estimate (very reasonable) which included adding overhangs to the side of my roof. We signed an agreement and paid a deposit. On the day scheduled to begin work, John comes with his crew and says that he cannot do the overhang work as it is our contractor's job. We were not happy and considering talking to one of the other roofing contractors that we interviewed. My contractor showed up soon after and talked to him re what was written in our agreement and what we verbally agreed to. He later agreed and his guys followed through. In the end, they re-roofed and added much-needed overhangs, very quickly and efficiently done 4 days total including tearing out the old roofing material and cleaning up. Job was well done overall. My only concern is that terms need to be specified upfront. Please be clear about what is or is not included. In the end we still paid $500 more than what we agreed to (which was the difference in what we negotiated). It was a small amount relative to the total monetary value but still a reflection of business practices. Make sure everything in writing is mutually agreed upon and that we are all on the same page. Confirm the scope of work before work is to begin so that there is no surprise. And I learned going forward to read even more carefully the scope of work line by line, and confirm each item to be sure before signing. read more

Prompt response to my roofing repair request. From phone call to work completion, it took 4 days. Arrived on time and performed necessary work to replace the roof jacks. I had also hired them to seal the first floor roof in 2021 and that has been holding up as well. read more

Very unprofessional, poor communication, no follow through. I contacted them to replace a couple of tiles on my roof which had fallen off. John came over and quoted me $475. To replace two tiles. Since I can't do it myself and other handymen were not available, I sucked it up and agreed. They said they would call me back to tell me when they would come. Song comes over at a random day with no prior announcement - they never called back to schedule. He has a completely different tile, justifying that he couldn't find the same tile as my roof. He had never come over before and never even saw my roof before, how could he know what my tile looked like? So I gave him a piece of the broken tile and asked him to actually go and compare and to call me back if he still didn't find anything. It has been 3 weeks and he has not called back. I contacted their main number multiple times and even Julie says she has a hard time contacting him. I asked for my tile back so I can use it to show someone else to do the job. That was a week ago. Still nothing. They have gone completely silent, not answering any of my calls. I even asked my wife to call them, and she has also not gotten through. I guess a small $475 job isn't worth their time. Compared to whole roofing jobs worth more than 10k, I get it. I just want my tile back so I can go get a different roofer. And in the future just say no if you don't want to do the job and don't waste other people's time. read more

Roofing Doctor - Roofing Doctor did no t put underlying felt paper or any flashing, knowing that it would leak--unfortunately it leaked-- - Roofing Near Me

Don't use Roofing doctor, he won't back his warranty! We hired John in 2015 to completely rebuild our apartment roof (7k sf) from scratch including new plywood but it has been leaking every year! Instead on working on the job himself, he subcontracted to another unknown team. when it leaked, we had to call and email him many times before he will even answer. Besides the hustle, we had to repair the inside damages ourselves. It is just so frustrating that we spent a lot to rebuild our roof and ended up with a roof that leaks every year! read more

2 experiences with this company. The first time around, the BF met with John the roofer to take a look at the leak coming from my garage. He determined there was no evidence of a leak, Disregarding the staining on the ceiling and water on the floor. The second time around occurred earlier this week. I rushed home to my 1pm appointment where I saw the roofer leaving my house already. I flagged him down where he immediately told me he is very busy , has no time, and already looked at my roof. He said I needed to replace a vinyl panel and for sure that was the route the water was getting into the house. Again he said he had little time, and my other questions were brushed off. He said it would take a while to look into my replacement panel. I spoke with Tony later that afternoon who always carried a professional demeanor via phone and emails. This was the reason I called the roofing Doctor back although they brushed off that there was any evidence of leaking the first time. Tony assured me a follow up call later that day, Monday, not the next day. He also told me John is an expert with 30 years of experience. I really wanted to have a good experience here, but I felt that this company did not care about the damages to my house, and did not want to waste time fixing it. All I want is an honest company to fix the leaking to my house, and this company was apparently does not want to be the one. I never received a call back later that day, and I had to call back 2 days later. They could not locate the vinyl panel for my 30 year house.. Thats' it and good luck to me. More rain is on the way, and I am frantically calling around looking for someone to fix the issue as soon as possible. read more

Shoddy work or dishonest practice, I don't know which. When we bought our house last year, they told us the roof needed flashing. We said sure. Then we had leaks and they couldn't figure out where they were coming from but said the roof was fine. Now our entire office is flooded and it looks like the ceiling is about to collapse. The flashing should have prevented this. Thanks, Roof Doctors! read more

Roofing doctor did a great job replacing the roof my rental property. Mr. Song and Tony were very courteous and professional. They were prompt with their estimates and work duration. I will definitely use them again for future roof repairs or replacements. read more

Roofing Doctor installed a skylight tube & a solar powered roof fan before the busy July 4th weekend. Tar & asphalt flat roofs require old world skills (Remember the scene from Shawshank Redemption when the men were drinking beers?) - dragging a butane tank, firing up a torch, & adding a layer is not a DIY project. They get things done! read more

Roofing Doctor - Roofing Near Me

I had a great experience with John who completed a "complete tear off" new roof project a couple weeks ago. I received four roof bids and selected the Roofing Doctor because of availability, cost, and a recommendation from someone else. John and his team (who has worked with him for a long time) came out and started the work on the agreed upon date and worked tirelessly until the job was done. The finished work is excellent and it's already been tested with the fist storm of the winter. At times I found communication to be a bit spotty in the early stages, and I would not say that the crew was impeccably clean (although I've never lived through a complete roof replacement before) but the cost and quality of work are the two criteria I care most about. John runs a quality honest business and I'm thankful to have found him. read more

Pls. Think twice before you hire this old Korean guy to fix your roof, first of all, he might charge you a bit cheaper from other people, then when you agreed, he will show up early in the morning along with two Mexican guys, he spent 5 mins with them, explain the issues and he is gone till noon time, drop off two to go boxes to feed the poor Mexican guy, he will then come back again to collect the money at five. I paid him 2000 dollars to changed a few pieces of the plywood and few pieces of the roof clay and when he received my check, he asked for a few $20 in cash, I guess he is using that $$ for the workers. When the job was done at 5pm, I was rush to picked up my kid from school therefore I did not inspect his job properly, I found out some missing nails on the clay the next morning, called him, he promised to stop by, I waited three hours he never show up, I called again, he said he only have time on Saturday, will come b4 4pm, guess what?? He never show up either, he also charged me $250 for gutter cleaning, but I don't see him doing it and I don't know how to check his job since is on the roof! The check was cashed, he do not care anymore!!!!! Today it was raining, my gutter never came down any water and the rain was coming down from the side of my roof, my husband called him many times, the 70 years old man did not respond!!!! read more

Our roof was leaking badly and it's very important for us to find a roofing company that has strong reputation and customer-friendly. We contacted a few roofing companies, Roofing Doctor was by far the best company because they are knowledgable - they know what's wrong and how to fix it. They also have excellent customer service - they are so busy but yet still managed to keep us posted & finally scheduled a repair date before the heavy rain season started! John, Tony, and their technicians really put our interests first and did everything they could to go above-and-beyond to repair our roof with a very competitive price, to finish everything on-time while taking care of our needs. They are our trusted advisor and we felt so lucky to have them on our side repairing our roof! We will definitely recommend them to anyone with roof needs - A+++ company and we will go back to them without any doubt if we need their services again. Many Thanks for a job well DONE! read more

Bought a house and the 30 years old roof needed a replacement, so I called the Roofing Doctors. John gave me a very good price on the roof with a free estimate after I called some other Roofers. Came in on time with a good 6-7 man crew and they got the job done with a 1500+ sqft roof within 3.5 days with the gutter! They even removed the unused chimney for me and sealed up the openings. Now I got a nice new roof with gutters. John and Tony are thorough and efficient. They don't waste time and get the job done in a very timely and manageable manner. read more

A friend just asked me who did my roof so I decided after 2 years this review needs to be done! I spoke with about 5 different companies. John came out and gave me the estimate. It was half the price of the next one. Cheaper is not always better except in this case. I had to wait to sell my van to have enough money so it was a few months later when they came back. They kept in contact with me throughout this time. I thought I needed a complete tear out because of the leaks and condition of the existing roof. He said it would be 1500 more but let's wait to see what it looks like first. He could have charged me for that and done the work but he was honest and said it was fine except a few places which he fixed with no additional charge. Great price and honest. What more could you ask for? They were also nice and cleaned up daily beyond my expectations. So 2 years later, no leaks and it looks great! read more

I created spreadsheets analyzing about a dozen roofers in the area and, after lots of comparisons and analyses, I settled on the Roofing Doctor because they had the best price with no discernible comprimise in quality. It's also great dealing with John, who is on-site much of the time and there to solve issues, for example, when some dust from the old roof removal fell on a neighbor's car. He made that problem go away fast. The one difference between this operation and others is that most others offered a 10-year warranty on workmanship, whereas the Roofing Doctor only offered a 5-year warranty. Given the financial savings, however, I accepted this risk and am very satisfied with the results. Of course we haven't had any rain in a long time.... :) read more

I am the next door neighbor. Roofing Doctor workers sat on my plants and put cigarettes and butts in my planters. Left food waste and water bottles in my flower planter. Even if they believed this planter of flowers belonged to the owner of the house they were reroofing, this is not appropriate behavior for roofers. Edlee, Palo Alto, CA. read more

The Roof Doctor, specifically David is our go-to roofer! We've used him a few times and he always does a thorough job.

Roofing Doctor truly is the doctor for your roofing needs! I own 3 residential properties in the bay area and 1 had major work to be done. Mr. Song arrived promptly and gave me a fair estimate compared to the other 3 I had already received. They did major work working in the hot sun with tar and all that. Long story short, the work turned out great and because they've been around so long they gave me some tips that will help me in the future! Will definitely be calling them if my other properties need any work done. read more
