Sometimes location is the key to success. Roma's Pizza is located on the corner of party central downtown. Right next to the strip of bars that make up a popular area of Main Street (Bad News Bar, Pastry War, Little Dipper, Moving Sidewalk, Bovine & Barley, Dean's, The Nightingale Room, The Commoner, Live, etc.), Roma's makes the perfect spot for the drunk munchies. So that's exactly what I did. After bar hopping with some friends, I stopped by Roma's around 1:30 in the morning and ordered a slice of cheese. Like many late night spots, they have some options by the slice for the drunk rush. While they heated the pizza in the oven for a bit, it was lackluster. Nothing really stood out for me. The crust, the cheese, the sauce. It's not bad pizza, just below average. Maybe a fresh pizza would've been an improvement. The place is no-frills, in fact it's a little run down. This place is only good because it's open late after you've drank at all the bars in downtown/main st. Literally the pizza is amazing because you had it drunk lol. We've had the pizza here at least 5-6 times and only have ever had the pizza by the slice and once or twice had the pasta dish/ dessert and still agree I'm sure it was "good" because we were drunk/tipsy. Well today for the first time we ordered a large pizza with beef, chicken, mushrooms and jalapeños. We ordered and we paid at the counter and then were handed a order number and I sat at the bar with it since I had mentioned this would be a take out order. Within the first few mins an employee comes up to the counter and mentions that they are out of chicken it would be at least a 45 min wait if I wanted to wait for him to cook the chicken then add it to my pizza... without giving me any other options he assures me that I shouldn't have chicken on the pizza... I then asked for then gyro meat to replace the chicken and he agrees. I then made sure to ask if the jalapeños were fresh and NOT picked and he assured me the jalapeños were fresh. From lunch to late night eats - we're talking really late - Downtown dwellers are lucky to have Roma's Pizza right along the bustling Main Street. I've had a few slices a time or two, and they didn't disappoint. 1) After an engagement party, my friends hosted an after-party at their loft and scheduled to have Roma's deliver 'zas at 3am! And they were piping hot - seriously melty, gooey cheese action going on. 2) And most recently, I dropped in after a night of dancing at Batanga, 2:30am of course, and the staff greeted us with a warm welcome. The pizza-by-the-slice options were slim pickin's, but Joe - either the owner, manager or employee - informed us that they'd be happy to make us a fresh pie to our liking. ...Um, thank you. I thought that was really cool of them, considering they deal with a few late-night drunk assholes but are still friendly and eager to serve. They also have sammies, pasta, wings, fries - pizza paired with fries are my weakness - and beer. The wings with their special honey glaze sauce wasn't too appetizing, but the BF sho' nuff cleaned his plate. And I enjoyed my fries - not the best in town and definitely not handcut, but they weren't greasy, they were hot and sprinkled with a mix of black pepper, salt and a hint of sugar. Ordered delivery from work. We ordered 2 Beef Lasagnas with salad, spinach artichoke dip and mozzarella sticks. Lasagna was good, plenty to share. However...the dip was in a small round container and 1/2 full. The container itself was about an inch tall. The dip was 1/2 inch thick. The dip was $7.00!!! I called and tried to get a manager so that I could get the other 1/2 my dip and was told there was no management on duty. The man "Johnny" that answered the phone said he could help me. I was over charged to 2 slices of pizza. I had 1 slice of cheese (2.50) and 1 slice of pepp. the cashier charged me 3.75 for both slices. When i brought it to the cashiers attention he said that what they charge at this hour with a rude attutide. It was a little after 10 pm. On a Saturday night I was torn between trying this place out or going to Frank's pi around the corner. I decided to give them a shot. When I walked in I was in the mood for Pie but was disappointed when I walked up to choose my slices that they did not have a good selection readily available! The only option with meat was pepperoni and pepperoni with jalapeños! They had a couple veggie choices but I wanted meat! Not familiar with their products I went ahead and ordered a whole pizza because they had nothing out I wanted. I got the works along with cheese sticks and ended up spending about $ 30 after drinks and taxes. I was disappointed because I wanted to try a few different slices opposed to only one! This used to be my husband and my go to pizza place. We ate here every Friday, to the point where they knew his name. Despite many of our friends' telling us how they disliked this place, due to pizza being cold, and although our pizza was sometimes lukewarm, we stayed true to them. HOWEVER, several weeks ago, we had the worst experience we have had at any restaurant. I never write a review, but this experience prompted me to write one. We ordered the same pizza we always order - Everything But The Meat, without the pineapple, extra cheese. My husband called it in, and I picked it up on my way home. When I arrived, we were given what was clearly a display pizza with pineapple on it. I nicely asked "Are you sure that's ours? We usually get it without pineapple." The worker, I believe his name was Octavio, stated "Yes! I asked your husband twice, he said he wanted pineapple." I stated "Oh, I'm not sure why, as we always say without." And he said "Well, he asked for us to sub the extra cheese for the pineapple, which we don't do, so maybe he just didn't want to waste money." This is when I was really upset, as his tone was accusatory and aggressive - it is not about money, as we order the same thing every time, and in fact paid the extra money for extra cheese. I said "Well, it will be a waste either way, as we will throw the pineapple out, due to my mild allergy." And he just said "I don't know, talk to your husband - he seems sure of this." Of course, my husband insisted that he said no pineapples, and I believe him, as this is a standard order for us. When I arrived home (5 mins away from Roma's), he called them to clarify. As we were frequent customers, we even offered to come pick up a fresh pizza, didn't demand a refund, anything - but we were confronted again with the same abrasive comments from Octavio, who yelled at my husband. At this point, we decided we are never returning. Since then, we have started going to Zalat pizza, which we much prefer. Their customer service is far superior, and their pizzas are amazing. If you are looking for a just okay, subpar pizza, with poor customer service, come to Roma's, otherwise - avoid it at all costs. read more

I've usually went to the "other" ,more well known "after club" pizza place.. a street over and a little bit a walks away! Roma's Pizza is really really goood! It also doesn't get the long lines that the "other" place gets! You feel less claustrophobic and "sardined" in a small ass hallway. The pizza itself, personally, taste a whole lot better! I've eaten here multiple times before, but today I stopped in on my lunch break during work with my service dog. I was immediately told I could not be in their restaurant with my service dog. I calmly tried to explain to them that she's a service dog protected by ADA law, but they didn't care to listen and demanded that I show proof of registration, which doesn't exist, as there is no registry for service dogs and it is not required by law either. They continued to not listen to me and demand I show registration. They wouldn't even let me order and take my food to go. I finally had to pull up my service dog's graduation certificate to prove that she's a legit service dog and I'm not someone who was just trying to bring their pet into their business. What they did was completely illegal and unfortunately I will likely not visit or eat there again. They'll be lucky if I don't report them for violating ADA law. read more
