I had a very negative experience with the Romanacci in Norwalk. For my 14 year old daughter's birthday party I ordered 3 extra large pizzas and a salad ($100 order ) using Uber Eats. Because Uber eats doesn't have an option for additional instructions for this restaurant, I called Romanacci to request the pizza to be cooked well done. The employee who answered the phone put me on hold for 10 minutes. Once he picked up again, I started to explain my request and he immediately hung up. Assuming that we were disconnected by mistake, I called back, the same employee answered and as I started to explain my request again he hung up again. This happened a third time as well. He clearly was hanging up intentionally. Not surprisingly the pizza arrived undercooked ( it seemed intentional ). Most of the pizza had to be thrown away. In addition to this treatment being rude and terrible customer service, it was also a huge waste of my money. I called the Westport location to repot this issue. They took my # but I never heard back. Reporting the issue on Uber Eats was useless. I won't be ordering from Romanacci again. read more

These guys know what they are doing- very authentic, fresh ingredients, old world style pies. Fresh salads, panini sandwiches, pizza & italian pastry. Italian specialty foods, drinks & coffee. The pastry are extraordinary. The labor intensive, crunchy, ultra fresh labor of love sfogliatelle are PERFECTION. The cannoli are filled TO ORDER as real canolli should be (unless your Ferrara's in Little Italy & sell hundreds a day). Well above average for quick-serve pizza and quite possibly the best in its market with creative pie combinations. The portions are generous as well. When you order a large, I hope you have plenty of space in your trunk for it because its huge. The service is pleasant and there is a good range of non pizza offerings. I have been to this restaurant many times for both takeout and dine in. The food was awful with no taste, cold and took extremely long for an appetizer and our main course to come out. The pizza was soggy for one pie and the other pie was extremely dry. The calamari was cold. The service on such a quiet night was beyond poor. It took 5 minutes for someone to even recognize that we were at the door and to be seated. We got seated and it took quite a bit of time for our table to be acknowledged, a drink order, appetizer to be ordered and main to be ordered. There were hardly any tables by the time we arrived, the owner was there and if an owner sees their server and bartender may be struggling or "in the weeds," check on them and jump in to help out. Where was management? Where was all the help? I am floored that they even want to open a gelateria in between these two restaurants, that they claim are "nice and good," as they won't be able to handle it. What a sad experience. read more

My 13 yr old son & I headed out a bit late last night for dinner. We wanted BBQ so I came to Yelp and learned a Westport eatery was serving til 10:30pm. We walked in btw 9:50 & 9:55pm and were greeted by a smiling waitess saying "I'm sorry - the kicthen closed at 10". Hmmmmm....I proceeded to search for this restaurant known for its excellent BBQ and showed the bartender the hours stated on Yelp the kitchen is open til 10:30pm. He felt sooo bad but said "I'm really sorry". And my son and I left very disappointed. This is how we came to discover Romanacci. What a breathe of fresh air!! As soon as we opened the door to the restaurant the smiling, jovial attendant behind the counter said "How you doing, Welcome!" Funny thing was I didn't recognize this gal nor did she recognize my son & I. She use to babysit my kids 9-11 yrs ago and when we recognized each othe.r I was most impressed with her. I remember her as a 14-16 year old girl and here she was all grown up providing exemplary service to the restaurant's guests where she was working. (For the record her name is Anna.) Anna said that they were closing but if we went to the counter toward the back the chef will probably have something for us. Wow...what a change from the restraurant in Westport who just wanted to get rid of us... We proceeded to the counter in front of the pizza ovens and the chef (who I also did not recognize nor did he recognize me) said "How Can I Help You"? The Italian owner happened to be standing off to the right and said "You want Pizza? Here - I will give you a deal. Take all the pizza and I'll charge you half price! You can even have the fried rice balls (I don't know what they are called but that's what they were)". It wasn't until the end of the night as I was paying our bill that this chef and I realized we knew one another. His Dad lived next door to me when we lived in the same neighborhood in East Norwalk as Anna! My son & I were treated like family. They were happy we were there & and made us feel very welcomed. Shortly after I heard a customer call my name. It was someone from town who knew me as we were growing up playing tennis & swimmng at The Shore & Country Club. He introduced me to his wife as they were finishing their meal and she shared how I should try Romanacci's dessert crepes. "These are amazing" she said and continued by sharing sayings "yeah - it's filled with nutella, bananas & strawberries. The Artisan Pizza was excellent. Huge pieces of pizza for just $3 a slice! The crepe was just $2.50 if I remember correctly. The crossaints & pasteries were large & the prices were extremely reasonable. Romanacci is owned by the owners of Osteria which is just a couple of doors down in this small strip mall located close to Stew Leonard's. It opened just 5 weeks ago. Today I had a meeting in NY and wanted to grab a salad to eat on the train. I entered Romanacci Pizza Bar across from the train station, and was guided to look at the café menu on the left side of the store for other options besides pizza. As I am walking and focusing my attention at the café huge board on the wall, I fall on my face on a huge step - there is a message on the step at my feet, "Watch your step", but for people coming in from the Pizza door, their attention is guided to the menu on the wall, NOT the huge step. If I was focusing my attention on my feet instead of the menu I was pointed to, I might have seen it. Usually, I could accept it and move on and just recommend they make some changes on that big step, but what really made me mad was that not a single employee came to help me. I fell on the floor, hurt my knee badly and ripped my skirt, I had a huge laptop computer and a heavy load of papers in my bag, I am clearly having a hard time standing up, and not a single employee would even offer me a helping hand. They just moved on as If I was not even there. After standing up and recuperating by myself, I left nauseous and promised myself never to get back to this place again. I am an active 56 year old person, but even if I was 15 and fell on a step you are aware is a problem (hence the big message on it), I would expect someone to at least help get back on my feet. I am not a commuter, but would love to get help making them fix this problem. Big time. Right now, they have to make big changes on the way they treat customers/people. Love their Margherita pizza! Everything in the restaurant is so cute and artsy and the food tastes amazing. They also serve Coke in small glass bottles which I find adorable. OK, one and done! This was our first visit to this local eatery and sadly our last. Fairfield County has too many restaurants who will gladly provide exceptional service to put up with a waitress who didn't even say "hello" and had to be asked to take our drink order...then told us to "wait a minute". After she took our order for drinks, she proceeded to place bread sticks displayed in a water goblet on the counter but neglected to ask us if we wanted any. No worries I thought. I'll just help myself to a glass full of these lovely bread sticks. The owner/maitre d' rushed over to our table to take away the breadsticks with a mumbled "scusi, signora" and gave us a plate with 5 sticks. I was so insulted! Even if I had committed a faux pas in taking my own bread sticks, no excuse for his embarrassing us. I'm Italian and the first rule of entertaining guests is to have them feel welcome. My husband and I felt anything but! And did I add that we were the only patrons in the restaurant? Salad with a lemon vinaigrette was good but the Margarita pizza had dollops of tomato sauce on it in p,ace of the whole tomato slices I'm used to. Uninspired! Never, never again. Had pizza delivered via Grubhub, and was completely cold. I don't mean warm, cold as in was left out for hours. I get the feeling this pizza was a leftover. When I called, they simply said they can't guarantee the pizza will be hot as the drivers don't have anything to keep hot temps while in transport. Placing a phone order for pickup on Father's Day for ten people sounds like a nightmare - at any restaurant. And it could have been a total shitshow. Since I was tasked with calling in an order for the entire family/relative crew, I was resigned to the likelihood that something would get messed up. I couldn't have been more wrong! From the moment I the phone was picked up, I was greeted and treated warmly - and every item in my lengthy order confirmed and repeated back to me, then verified again at the very end of the call. 45 minutes later, we arrived to a plethora of specialty pies, focaccia paninis, calzones, and salads waiting for us (well, we had to wait 5 extra minutes because the pies were not quite out of the oven. So hot and fresh!). Food for 10 people came out to something like $125 - a ridiculously amazing price, especially considering the fact that everything tasted amazing and the large pizzas were ENORMOUS! I especially loved the wild mushroom and caramelized onion pizza. The gentleman who took my order also greeted us at the store, wished my dad a happy father's day and gave us takeout menus (and offered us water while we waited). This is only my second time at Romanacci but the wonderful food and exceptional customer service will have my whole Norwalk family returning over and over again. The pizza here is my new favorite to eat locally in Norwalk. The dough has a great taste and the sauce and toppings are very delicious. The consistency of the dough is not thin but yet not too much dough either. I recently ate here for lunch and I was very happy with the 12" pizza that I ordered with onions and peppers. My lunch date found her panini to be very delicious as well. The only downfalls were that 1) they advertised "pasta" on their front window but there is none on the menu for lunch, which was a let down for our 3 y/o lunch companion (as well as the waiters response of "If you want pasta, move 4 doors down to the Osteria" which makes me wonder what the owners would say unless both places are owned by the same person) and 2) that the express lunch menu actually seemed more expensive than ordering the items on the regular menu. If there was anything that made the lunch specials any more special, it wasn't explained to us. Bottom line: Yes I would go back there again. No, I wouldn't order a $3 8oz glass bottle of Coke to drink. Maybe I will think up my own wild combo on my lunch pizza since the suggested ones on the menu seem a bit run of the mill. read more

Romanaccis pizza is going to make me fat. Seriously, I like the atmosphere of this place. Very relaxed, awesome staff. They also deliver right to our door step (we live in an apartment complex). They also don't go over there times for delivery ETA- usually they show up beforehand. As far as the pizza... I've had the Fontana Di Trevi and the Carni. I want to like this place more. Really. The service is tantamount to perfection. You can "feel" it. That's when you know you're eating someplace special. These are "real " restauranteurs making a very solid go at a cafe style pizza house in Norwalk. I love the ambiance, the style, the attitude. It's chic yet unpretentious. Date night? Absolutely! Here's where I was a bit unimpressed. I ordered takeout and dine in on two separate occasions. Dine in was spectacular. The wait times are a bit different in both experiences, which is understandable since it seems to predicate itself on dine in. When you dine in you are treated like royalty. Take out... Well, that's a different story. It's not a bad experience, but just a lot slower. Is that par for the course? Maybe not. Maybe it was an isolated experience. That's possible. But a small margherita, mozzarella in carrozza, (fried mozzarella ) and garlic knots shouldn't take 25 minutes on a not so busy night. Also, the presentation for take out was, well, odd. My 4 garlic knots and slab of fried mozzarella were given to me floating in a 12" box. The sauce was tasty and bright. A bit salty, but on point in terms of simple tomato flavor. Just the placement of the sides in such a manner was disappointing and frankly unacceptable. My guests were actually appalled and said they hated the presentation. I calmed them down because the flavor of the food was very good. As a pizza place, it's interesting. Two sizes - small 12" and large 25"! That's a massive size difference and somewhat odd. Large is definitely too big for two. Small is a little too small. So it's a little odd to make a decision to be so drastically awkward with sizes. There must be a hidden method to the madness. I'm just not seeing it. The food was very good. Pizza was ok not great, not bad... Just, ok. Pizza was a bit doughy. Sauce was ok. Cheese, ok. I would go back, but I can't say it's for the pizza as much as the ambiance. read more

As I was checking out, they tried to sell me a whole pie which I found to be incredibly pushy as I only wanted 2 slices. It was empty, so maybe I was an easy sale? Anyways, the pizza was very good. Well, I might gauge my ratings on the best of something in an area, for example, this is the best pizza in Norwalk. That's why it deserves the 5 (though I would make that a 4 because its not the best pizza in Fairfield County, in my opinion). However, this is still a big compliment because I am not easy to please when it comes to pizza. With an Italian family, first-generation, I have been fortunate to know how to make pizza from scratch, the dough, the fresh tomato sauce, basil from the garden, with the exception of fresh-made mozzarella cheese. So, when I go out for pizza, it has to blow me away. The Margarita pizza and cheese pizzas are my frequent indulgences, and they are consistently excellent. The wet mess (a good thing) that is the margarita has a sauce that is phenomenal, and crust that has that doughy, salty crust that you expect in good crusts. Nothing about it seems fake. Everything about it screams delicious! I have not tried other food here, but knowing the owners also run Osteria Romana, there is no need to come here for anything but pizza. The service is always friendly and excellent. The ambiance is nice, though it's a small shop. Location for parking is excellent. A must-visit if you are within 20 miles seeking lunch. ProTip: Seating is limited, so if you have a party of more than a few at night or at peak, make sure to come with your expectations managed, that you might not be able to sit. read more

He also did not fill our water glasses... I was dying of thirst. The owner of the restaurant came over to ask how things were. He noticed the empty glasses and in Italian he instructed the young man to fill our glasses of water. 3. The waiter did not notice that we were done eating and just sitting waiting for him to come back. ...After 20 minutes the owner did though. He yelled across the counter to the young man (in Italian), instructing him to ask us if we needed a to-go box. I understood and nodded my head YES. The waiter eventually brought over a to-go box for my pizza, then left right away. (He also did not take the dirty dishes off the table) ...ugh.... 4. He did not ask us for dessert OR if we wanted the check after bringing us the to-go box. We sat for 15 minutes, then I went up to the counter and ordered dessert & asked for the check. 5. The waiter then brought my crêpe and midway through eating it, the owner of the establishment came over again and removed our dirty plates that took up the entire table. +6. I forgot to mention that when we first ordered our meal, we also put in a take-out order for a pizza. HE ALSO FORGOT THIS. I had to remind him twice. He brought us the check and we saw the charge for the pizza but then I had to go up to the counter and ask where the take-out pizza was. The owner waited on my mother and I more than his server. Our meal took much too long and it was quite a pricey lunch for such dismal service. I am not sure why the waiter was so neglectful, the establishment was empty. I enjoyed the food, however it is not worth coming back here for this kind of service. I will not be back to this establishment...not even for take-out. read more
