Went both had salads which were fresh and nice portion size. For appetizer we tried the octopus special which was ok the octopus was nice and tender but the flavor was a tad lacking and it was plated over bread which was a bit off to me. Wow! I was blown away by the small trattoria in a strip area. The waitress was super friendly and FAST!! We ordered Zappa di pesce ( an amazing seafood dish) with pasta I asked for a la dente pasta and they actually gave it to me!! It usually doesn't happen it's usually pre cooked so this was super tasty! We were also in a hurry because we only had 50 minutes they brought our appetizer, dinner and a takeout meal in that time! We haven't been in many 10-12 years and just wanted to get out after horrible weekend weather. The service was fantastic, Eamon was very attentive and informative. The cocktails/ wine choice were amazing. We knew the pizza was great as it used to be our go to when we lived closer. The entree's were delicious and pretty prompt for a Friday at 6. The gnocchi was raw and the sauce was fair at best. Had a table of 10 people and everyone's dinner came out at a different time. Not sure how they stay in operation. This is one of those local spots you see almost too often but never really gave a try for no specific reasons. I'm so glad we did on a random Thursday early evening. It was quite busy and we saw so many locals. A good sign. Food is good, did take some time to come. They have happy hour on weekdays only at the bar. We regularly order pizza or entres from Lombardi's when cooking is just not going to happen. They never fail to provide a generous, delicious meal at a reasonable price. Earlier this week, we ordered the gnocchi dish with their 3-meat sauce. The potato-based pasta had just the right amount of bite and the generous sauce was hearty and lively. As a carryout, it came with a super fresh salad for under $25, and was plenty of food for two. Went to Lombardi's for dinner with hubby on a Tuesday night in the summer. Restaurant was almost empty, we sat outside on the patio and we were the only people. It was very nice and quiet out there. It ended up arriving lukewarm around 6 on a Saturday, which I am sure is a busy time, but lukewarm pizza is a bit of a bummer. I was with family and decided to try this restaurant. The service started out with a friendly hostess who also turned out to be our waitress. It took about a good six minutes for them to come by and ask us if we cared for a beverage. The staff needs a very good lesson in training. The menu was fine. There seem to be no section on the menu for side dishes example vegetables. Everyone in our party had one of the specials I happen to have the chicken and shrimp piccata it was so heavily doused in lemon juice I decided to take it home for my dogs. The waitress never came back and asked how things were or if she could offer anybody another beverage they just seem to be lacking the skill of customer service. I am not the kind of person to leave a bad review, I have worked in multiple service industries and understand the ups and downs. But they were DEAD they had us a three top and two other two tops. We weren't even greeted properly.. I had to initiate. I almost left two stars for the because the amazing bartender saves them. But long story short, don't come here, don't waste your time. My husband and I just got back from Lombardi's Trattoria, and would like to say that previous reviews do not do this place justice! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The homemade bread was fresh from their ovens. The appetizers we ate were a great start to the meal. Additionally, our main dishes (both pasta) were phenomenal. Prices were fair, and the wait staff was very helpful. We could not have been happier to find an upscale Italian restaurant by our home. Lombardi's Trattoria is an unpretentious Fairfield County treasure. This restaurant used to be called Fresco Trattoria, but is now under the ownership of Frank Lombardi. They have a new Italian chef and I have to say that the quality of the food is up to snuff. I am so happy that Lombardi's Trattoria is still a great local place to go to. Everything is homemade including the sauces. The price are very reasonable; the portions are generous and best of all you can tell that Mr. Lombardi loves what he does. They have a full bar with a decent wine list as well. Lombardi's has added a take-out menu and has also added delivery service. I live in New York City during the week and am spoiled by all of the great high end restaurants. I typically don't rave about many restaurants, but Lombardi's Trattoria is truly a special place. read more
