Our table was ready when we arrived, however it was like a bar stool table and too hard for my parents to manage. They kindly changed our table immediately. HOWEVER... We were seated next to 2 tables. One was a bunch of moms hanging out and having many drinks and their children at another table. Both tables were obnoxiously loud. The kids were Constantly up and down, bumping into my mom's chair, they were all over the restaurant, screaming in my mom's ear. My moms asked them nicely a few times to not scream in her ear. Eventually they sat back down after the waiter said something. But they sat ON the table and couldn't sit still. Totally get that they're kids, but at some point management should have said something before we asked.. Anyway, that's not really the restaurants fault. It just made for an unpleasant experience for our party. Our server was friendly and attentive, Our food was good, portions were good: Everything tasted fresh. Fast and fabulous brunch - just what it needed to be! Hubs was a bit confused by his open faced sandwich but figured it out and left nothing on the plate so that says it all LOL My eggs Benny were just what they needed to be and I drowned them with a perfect mimosa (just a splash of OJ like God intended). This place has amazing food, great service, and lots of energy. Went with friends and we shared small plates. I don't like gnocchi and their gnocchi was to die for. If I could have bathed in the dish I would have. We had an amazing arugula and pear salad, eggplant, and a fig flatbread. Two desserts: key lime and carrot cake. Both had a twist. I have been to Spiga several times in the past and was looking forward to Mother's Day Brunch. When I called to make the reservation, I specifically asked if their regular brunch menu would be available, and was told yes. We arrived to find that the regular brunch menu was NOT available. The bread they served was stale. We were there at opening time so maybe they were using the prior days leftovers?? I ordered the Avocado Toast, which to be honest, was the reason I chose Spiga because I generally love it. Well, to say I was disappointed is an understatement. It arrived with the tiniest smear of avocado, no onion and no goat cheese. They did bring me separate containers with more avocado and onions upon request, so kudos for that I suppose. The rest if the food was fine, hence the 3 stars, but this Mother did not enjoy her pricy half-made Avocado Toast. read more

This place truly is a hit or miss. Unfortunately, tonight it was a huge miss. We were walking home and decided to stop there with our 9 and 11 year olds. We take a look at the menu and my daughters notice a soft-shell crab on the specials - for a mere $39.95 it came on a whole bed of wilted spinach. we order the clam oregata and a seafood risotto for ourselves. The clams and risotto were very good, but the crab was appalling, I wish I took a picture. It was a skimpy crab with literally maybe 2-3 teaspoons of meat in it, no exaggeration. The owners actually came over to ask how everything was, and when we told them about the crab and the fact that there wasn't any meat in it they just said "well, it's a whole crab" and walked away. I was really confused. I don't know whether they overcooked it (likely) or if it was caught too late, either way no apology whatsoever from them. m The shell had the consistency of hard shrimp skin, not something easy to chew like it should have been. One clam app, one risotto and the crab were $125 And I had to make my daughters dinner once I got home. I don't think I will be returning, there are plenty of better restaurants in the area.. what a shame. read more

Sadly - went and had some seafood dish and the dish just seemed a bit foul. Considering I have seafood two or three times a week. I'm very familiar with quality seafood. Service was below adequate as they mixed up the bill from our patron near me. Went in for lunch on someone's recommendation. Was excited but apprehensive when I saw the sheer size of the menu. The bread they brought to the table was well received. The ricotta sauce or whatever it comes with to dip in was nice but very bland. Not sure why they wouldn't just give some oil. I had the Wanderlust drink which was very nice. The other drink was a mocktail and was also very good. The bar staff is certainly on point. Artichokes and octopus to start. The octopus dish was absolutely awful. The portion was gigantic and made zero sense why it was so large when it was listed as a "small plate". The octopus was tough and way overcooked. The sopressata was also like biting into leather and the flavor was so overpowering the way the fat had rendered down. I don't think there was much evoo on the plate. There was no balance of flavors and the dish felt discombobulated. A real disappointment as I'm a big fan of the octopus app at Oak & Almond. The artichokes are lightly fried with a delicate batter, they were nicely done and very edible. The plate was again enough for 10 people, not really a small plate. We failed to notice that the octopus and artichokes both came with the same lemon aioli sauce, it was not good. It didn't suit either of the dishes. Marinara or perhaps something with some heat would have been a nice accompaniment. I went for the Gnocchi and it was decent but I wouldn't order it again. The Gnocchi themselves were the largest I've ever had and were a bit sticky when chewing. The sauce was a bit watery and not flavorful. The large dollop of ricotta was ice cold so it was a stark contrast against the hot pasta. The dish felt rustic like something you would get in someone's home kitchen when it shouldn't have. We also tried the Rigatoni Vodka and it was to me the best dish of the day, which isn't saying a lot. read more

Went today for brunch. They didn't have any plain tea bags. My husband almost when cross the street to get tea bags. They only had earl gray one tea bag. I needed to suggest them heat up a mug of ice tea in microwave to have a cup of hot tea. Totally unacceptable when you charge over four dollars for a cup of tea that you don't even have. read more

Came here for Christmas Eve with my longtime friends from home. My friend Henry came and I have not seen him in 2-3 years, he lives in Wethersfield, CT. Apparently he and his roommates have two feral cats that live in their basement and don't get along with his personal cat. Wishing him all the best. Luckily he was able to escape the cats and join me and 3 other friends for Christmas Eve lunch. Anyway, I got the Kobe bacon egg brunch burger. It was solid. They forgot the egg but then brought me the egg. No harm no foul - it's the holidays. Here's what we ordered, including my friends' names with no context: Drew and I got espresso martinis which are SO GOOD. I wish I could take some home with me but apparently Connecticut has made that "illegal" - this is why I only visit 2-3 times a year. Kiki got the chicken Parm, which looked so good and James got the hot honey pizza which is a known favorite here. As I write this im debating ordering another espresso martini but I agreed to drive Drew back to Rowayton and my parents will kill me if I show up to Christmas Eve dinner buzzed again this year. This was our first wedding anniversary dinner. We almost changed our mind of trying this place based on recent reviews but I'm glad I stuck with my gut and came anyways. Everything was delicious, service was great and attentive, and it was a perfect night to sit outside. First of all our waiter- an older gentlemen was a pleasure. Super friendly and he added a candle to our dessert after finding out it was our anniversary which was cute. He also kept our glasses of Prosecco full, coming around and pouring for us. The appetizers came out really quick which was great because we were starving. The bread (I'm kind've a bread snob though) and I assume a cheese spread they give you complimentary isn't great but I don't judge complimentary things in my reviews. The apps we ordered were delicious, calamari perfectly cooked and little necks were delicious and sand free. For dinner we got the NY strip and a seafood carbonara special. My husband said it was the best carbonara he's ever had. He even stopped eating to save some for the next day. My only complaint of the entire meal and only reason I didn't give 5 star was my steak was under seasoned. It came on top of a salsa verde which maybe is why but it definitely needed a sprinkle of salt. Other than that it was delicious and cooked how I asked. For dessert we shared the juniors cheesecake (which obviously was delicious since it's juniors cheesecake!) and had espresso martinis which were made exactly how we like them (no cream liqueurs). Also the cheesecake was a great size to share, hate when you get tiny pieces, this was a good sized piece. The prices I felt were reasonable. We actually live in Meriden so came here thinking it would be more expensive it being new Canaan and all and I have to say everything was what you would pay at any nice restaurant throughout CT. Cheesecake was 7.50, carbonara 27, martinis 13 , etc. so didn't feel like it was over priced just because of then location . Overall perfect first anniversary dinner. From start to finish, Spiga hit the spot! It was a lovely place to stop in on a girl's day. The burrata salad was absolutely delicious. The wait staff was friendly and kind- 2 kids, 2 tweens and 2 moms... we weren't always quiet. It was not super crowded and we were all the way in the back. My first experience here was during COVID 1.0 and wasn't great due to the horrible difficulties hiring staff during the COVID hysteria. I was definitely expecting a lot more from this restaurant. We wanted bread but the waiter said they were out. About 10 minutes later we saw another waiter walking out with bread for another table. The appetizers were better than the entrees. We got the calamari, Arancini, and fried mozzarella. Calamari was amazing and the fried mozzarella was good too. Arancini was nothing special. Have had others meals here in the past that deserved 3-4 star ratings, but tonight's experience frankly bordered on dreadful. A surly greeting "we have no table, unless you want to eat outside" was followed by waiting 10 minutes to be seated before we chose to seat ourselves, 25 minutes for sparkling water, another 30+ minutes for appetizers to arrive, only to then have entrees follow less than 2 minutes later. "Indifferent" and "off" sums up tonight's service experience best. Plates were never cleared during the entire meal, and the repeatedly asked for check had still not arrived nearly 20 min after dessert was served....had to track down the waiter by going inside. Food was ok as usual...a step or two above "standard fare" Italian, but hardly memorable. The food at this cozy restaurant is delicious! Truly top notch Italian food. For the table, we ordered fried calamari for a starter, alongside "Elder Peach" cocktails. For dinner, I ordered shrimp marinara linguine and my sister and boyfriend ordered the Montauk Tuna. We were all very pleased with our meals. For dessert, we finished with banana foster (pictured below) which was truly AMAZING. We will absolutely be back for more! The success runny as if they forgot to add any cheese so that it clung to the pasta.
