Sadly - went and had some seafood dish and the dish just seemed a bit foul. Considering I have seafood two or three times a week. I'm very familiar with quality seafood. Service was below adequate as they mixed up the bill from our patron near me. I mentioned it and they still even ran it on my credit card thankfully I noticed it and pointed out and they seem to have issue with me pointing it out. Keep an eye on your bill.

I've been here many times. This is a tried and true consistent restaurant. The margarita pizza and Fried meatballs app is a good combination. Chick parm with rigatoni vodka is a good plate to split. Service is always great. Brian is one of the best.

Came here for Christmas Eve with my longtime friends from home. My friend Henry came and I have not seen him in 2-3 years, he lives in Wethersfield, CT. Apparently he and his roommates have two feral cats that live in their basement and don't get along with his personal cat. Wishing him all the best. Luckily he was able to escape the cats and join me and 3 other friends for Christmas Eve lunch. Anyway, I got the Kobe bacon egg brunch burger. It was solid. They forgot the egg but then brought me the egg. No harm no foul - it's the holidays. Here's what we ordered, including my friends' names with no context: Drew and I got espresso martinis which are SO GOOD. I wish I could take some home with me but apparently Connecticut has made that "illegal" - this is why I only visit 2-3 times a year. Kiki got the chicken Parm, which looked so good and James got the hot honey pizza which is a known favorite here. As I write this im debating ordering another espresso martini but I agreed to drive Drew back to Rowayton and my parents will kill me if I show up to Christmas Eve dinner buzzed again this year. I'm going to do it I think. Maybe... Spiga rules everyone should come here

Another great meal and fabulous service at Spiga restaurant last night. We are never disappointed when dining at this restaurant.

This was our first wedding anniversary dinner. We almost changed our mind of trying this place based on recent reviews but I'm glad I stuck with my gut and came anyways. Everything was delicious, service was great and attentive, and it was a perfect night to sit outside. First of all our waiter- an older gentlemen was a pleasure. Super friendly and he added a candle to our dessert after finding out it was our anniversary which was cute. He also kept our glasses of Prosecco full, coming around and pouring for us. The appetizers came out really quick which was great because we were starving. The bread (I'm kind've a bread snob though) and I assume a cheese spread they give you complimentary isn't great but I don't judge complimentary things in my reviews. The apps we ordered were delicious, calamari perfectly cooked and little necks were delicious and sand free. For dinner we got the NY strip and a seafood carbonara special. My husband said it was the best carbonara he's ever had. He even stopped eating to save some for the next day. My only complaint of the entire meal and only reason I didn't give 5 star was my steak was under seasoned. It came on top of a salsa verde which maybe is why but it definitely needed a sprinkle of salt. Other than that it was delicious and cooked how I asked. For dessert we shared the juniors cheesecake (which obviously was delicious since it's juniors cheesecake!) and had espresso martinis which were made exactly how we like them (no cream liqueurs). Also the cheesecake was a great size to share, hate when you get tiny pieces, this was a good sized piece. The prices I felt were reasonable. We actually live in Meriden so came here thinking it would be more expensive it being new Canaan and all and I have to say everything was what you would pay at any nice restaurant throughout CT. Cheesecake was 7.50, carbonara 27, martinis 13 , etc. so didn't feel like it was over priced just because of then location . Overall perfect first anniversary dinner. We are dying to go back to try brunch!

From start to finish, Spiga hit the spot! It was a lovely place to stop in on a girl's day. The burrata salad was absolutely delicious. The wait staff was friendly and kind- 2 kids, 2 tweens and 2 moms... we weren't always quiet. It was not super crowded and we were all the way in the back. When I'm in the area again, I would most definitely hit up Spiga! By the way, grab a red sangria! So good!

HAD MY 50TH BIRTHDAY PARTY HERE AND WOULD DO IT AGAIN!!!!!…read more This was only my second time here but my first visit made such an impression that I had to celebrate my big day here!! I started my party planning with a previous employee but upon getting in touch with the owner TOMMY, everything went off without a hitch!!! My host/server MICHELLE T. was truly amazing!!!!! She orchestrated my party like a pro, checked-in frequently with me, perfectly timed my chosen courses and paid careful attention to ny birthday cake and cupcakes I brought in. I loved all their party options, they truly have something for everyone. If you want afternoon, brunch or dinner times, you can literally have dozens of different selections for your entire party courses, I hope to have a future celebration here, and try even more delicious choices. Valet parking was a great plus, location is also very convenient from Queens and Suffolk counties. Defintely check them out if you're looking for a weekend brunch, romantic dinner or a family celebration.

We were seated immediately in the room toward the back left corner where we were the only table occupying the space. In fact, as the evening progressed, no other diners/groups were seated back there, which was nice. We observed that although it was a Friday evening at prime dinner hour, the restaurant never got too full nor was the bar area buzzing. Again, it was nice that it wasn't so hectic in there, but we noted that as curious for a spot like this, on a Friday evening, and when the weather was pleasant. Starting with a high point: our server was really good. He was a very nice young man who let us know at the end of our meal that it was actually his first day on the job. While we could tell he didn't know everything about the menu - which is totally understandable given him being a new hire - he was kind, personable, and went above and beyond to provide excellent and timely service. As for the venue, it was nice although not upscale and that was just our speed for this evening. We loved having the room to sit comfortably at a setup that could comfortably seat 8. As for the food, it was decent although I wouldn't call anything I tasted fantastic. For apps, we shared 2 orders apiece of calamari, crab cakes, and lamb chops (6 apps total) with the chops being my favorite out of those. The calamari were small and didn't pack a lot of flavor but they were fried well. The marinara sauce that came with it was also fine but not remarkable. The crab cakes were a little mushy for our liking. For my entrée, I ordered the Lobster Rigatoni. There was plenty of lobster on top, the portion was more than solid, and it came out at the right temperature but the flavor again failed to really impress and was somewhere between "fine" to "good". For dessert, I ordered the chocolate lava cake, and I was truly disappointed by that. For starters, there was no gooey "lava" as the name implied, and the edges were dry and seemed overcooked. The flavor again fell a little flat and I didn't bother to finish it even though I am usually a huge fan of chocolate desserts. All in all, we had an enjoyable evening as a crew, but the food could be elevated a bit from a flavor standpoint. I would give the food a little better than a "3" but I think they have enough going for them that amping up the flavors could do wonders for their desirability and drawing more diners.

After exiting off the "always under construction" Merritt Pkwy (CT 15), I headed into the downtown area of New Canaan and decided on Lombardi's Ristorante & Bar, which opened recently in the former Papyrus space. This Italian restaurant and bar offers and cozy modern atmosphere with table seating along the right wall and a full bar with seating along the left side. They do have a dress code here including no hats, no hoodies, no sweatpants. The food offerings include a selection of crafted homemade pasta dishes, meat & seafood dishes, appetizers, salads, cheese & meat samplers, and dessert. The pricing is on the higher side and food is prepared to order. The bar serves beer, wine, and cocktails. I also called the restaurant to make sure they were open after 9 pm, when I would be passing through. I arrived here around 9:15pm, which was the perfect time when things weren't too busy. I left my cap in the vehicle and entered Lombardi's and took a seat at the bar. The bartender gave me a menu to look at and offered water. I decided on a starter, but the bartender helped me decide on an entrée. For a starter, the Frittatina Napoletana ($18 plus tax), which was a fried pasta fritter filled with linguine noodles, peas & ham in a cream sauce and topped with a white sauce. For an entrée, the Cavatelli Rossi Al Ragu Bianco ($30 plus tax), very firm hand rolled pasta curls, in a white veal ragu with dehydrated tomato dust & parmigiano fondue. Both the starter and entrée were fantastic choices with good hearty flavors. After I was done, I passed on dessert and got the check with Toast QR code which was $51.52 with tax and before tip. Overall, I enjoyed some great well prepared Italian dishes, nicely presented. The service was very good here. The bartender was able to keep an eye on things, offering water & drinks, making suggestions and also chatting about life. The food runners brought me the starter and entrée in timely order. I would definitely recommend Lombardi's for a date night, special occasion, or just wanting to enjoy some great food.
