Was looking for a pizza place in town that had wood fire pizza ovens with thicker crust. This place is awesome! The pizza was delicious, we had the mushroom pizza (New England) I think? And then we had the fried calamari and the crispy cauliflower, which was my favorite! It's not a huge restaurant though, it's smaller but they do have a patio as well. Loved the Mediterranean salad and truffle fries w/o cheese. We are fully plant-based and found the ingredients to be very fresh and yummy. We came at 5pm on Saturday. It was at least 50% empty but they didn't want to seat us without a reservation. Finally they agreed but the service was atrocious. Took forever to order. Could never find a server. We sat with an uncleared table for at least 30 minutes, trying to find someone to get us the check. Considering they didn't want us in the first place they had no urgency to get us out. To be clear, by the time we left it still wasn't full. Food was fine but not worth the service. I put notes on each item I ordered for pickup and every one was ignored. My arugula pizza had a sprinkle of arugula. I ordered garlic oregano wings and they sent hot honey. $90.00 for 3 items and I gave a tip on the pickup order because I appreciate when a service is provided, next time please provide the one I pay for! read more

We had such a perfect dinner at Locali this past weekend! Although the weather is obviously getting cold, we were still able to sit outside given their setup. They have a lot of heaters, so that the cold actually doesn't feel that bad! Especially with a glass of wine, you definitely won't feel it at all! The staff that we encountered here were definitely some of the nicest people! My husband and I arrived early to meet up with a friend for dinner, and they were super accommodating to let us wait for her. We were treated so well the entire time, the waiters are super sweet and attentive. Started out with some shishito peppers; I really love the seasoning that they put on them! I'm really surprised how delicious they can make just regular peppers. For our two other appetizers, we got the crispy brussels sprouts and the beet salad. Whatever they did to the Brussels sprouts, it's pretty magical! In terms of pizzas, the Snake Oil is a must! Sweet and spicy always work so well together on a pizza (just think hot honey)! It's such a great blend of ingredients: san marzano tomatoes, capicola, fior di latte, pecorino, garlic, sriracha, honey and scallions! I also got the Vegan Impossible Bolognese which was pretty legit. If you didn't tell me, I would never have known that this dish is vegan! read more

To start, this establishment has an ambiance that is unmatched in the town of New Canaan. Cozy with plenty of outdoor space, late fall is easily the time of year to visit. Seasonal drinks, warm staff and friendly appetizers, you cannot go wrong. If you have the fortune to have Noé as your bartender you are in for a treat. An excellent bartender with the ability to cater to all and any palettes. The wild new England pizza bring my taste buds into a Maine forest in late summer. All mushrooms are delivered weekly and come from a local grower. Don't you dare get me started on the chicken milanese. You will end up going home with multiple meals that will taste as good as the minute it was cooked. All in all, this is a place I would bring family, co workers, and a new love interest and mortal enemies on the verge of peace. Come one, come all. Love the food & atmosphere here! A friend and I decided to go for dinner one day and I am glad we called ahead for reservations, because they weren't allowing walk-ins at the time due to limited seating. Although we eventually got seated, we did have to stand around and wait for quite a bit because it didn't seem like they had enough people working. There were only two main people I saw who were hosting, serving, running food, as well as managing take out orders and phone calls. This was odd especially since it was a pretty busy night. But the outside dining area was nicely decorated and spaced. The place is definitely a little overpriced for some items, but overall the food was good. I got the Charred House Pizza which had nice caramelized onions on top, but it could've used more because the overall pizza was pretty plain. I was pleasantly surprised by the bolognese. It was pretty oily but it was a great portion, had lots of meat, and was flavorful! I'd definitely come here again for the pasta, and to try other menu items. read more

We decided to dine outside since the weather was beautiful. Apparently, so did the aggressive yellowjacket that kept hovering over our table and insisted on nibbling on the sausage. Ordered gluten free pizza with pepperoni and burrata via Door Dash tonight. So grateful that the restaurant offers gluten free crust, since not all restaurants do. Not knocking off stars for the pizza being freezing cold, because I feel like with delivery that's kind of standard. Knocking off stars because the crust was very strange - the taste was good, but the texture was like a fluffy spongey cloud (not in a good way). The toppings and sauce made the crust soggy and wet, which when combined with the cold temperature made the pizza unpleasant to eat. Too bad the crust isn't crispy and thin, and hope that they change the crust for the future. Will have to go into the restaurant next time to try other entrees. read more

Went to Locali recently, and ordered the Fat Chicken Pizza . I added Mariana sauce ( no charge). Was surprised how Good this Pizza, with Chicken Sausage tasted.Others in my party ordered calimari and Chicken Milinase. Service was prompt. Manager / owner was extremely inhospitable and rude. We were there for 3 hours waited too long to get order taken and then a main course came out 5 minutes after, prior to apps? So we sent it back and then waited an inordinate amount of time for our food. The food was not consistent with other times( brussel sprouts were cold, artichoke were soggy not crispy) We thought helpful to communicate with him but he wasn't interested. There was an extra item on our bill and he corrected it but had an attitude, when they charged us for something we never ordered. It was one of the worst dining experiences I have had. First time visiting. Really loved the truffle pizza. Friendly staff. All of the dishes were superb. Meatballs were excellent. There were quite a few items available for vegetarians and vegans, and while I am neither, I do enjoy a dish that is good because its good and happens to be vegan or vegetarian. One of my favorite places to eat! I have already been a few times and I have not been disappointed. Cute little place in New Canaan with decent pricing. (Though with the quality of food I get, I don't mind paying a little more. And also, you're in New Canaan) I think my favorite part of the restaurant is that you can watch your pizza being made in front of your eyes. First visit, I had the pizza with heirloom tomatoes, fior di latte, provolone, and a basil pesto drizzle on top. The pizza was amazing and cheesy. The crust is light and bubbly. I don't know what it is about the air bubbles, but I love biting into it! Second visit had a new fall menu, which I really was excited for. With the chilly weather coming, it was a nice way to welcome the season with the fall flavors. We started off with the bruschetta with apples, humboldt fog, and chestnut brown butter. First time eating humboldt fog (I acutally had to google it....) and the trio of flavors just blended so well together. For an entree, my friend and I split two pizzas -- the Wild New England (wild mushroom, taleggio, fior di latte, and wild porcini oil) and the Sunny Side-Up Egg Pie (truffle aioli, cracked pepper, fontina, and chives). Both choices blew me out of this world. Both pies were perfectly seasoned and we couldn't stop eating! Hats off to the chefs. Can't wait for my next visit :) read more

Tonight I placed a take-out order for a pizza and a salad. When I got home, some distance away in New York, I discovered the pizza was not what I had ordered. I called the restaurant, asked for Zack, the manager, and told him about the error. Rather than either argue with me or promise me a discount or credit the next time , Zack immediately ordered up the pizza I had requested and had it delivered to my door within 25 minutes! I think I can say that this is probably the best pizza place in Connecticut. I was staying in Hartford for work, and after exploring the city, and being let down by the food options out here, decided to drive an hour away to Locali.This place was referred by a friend, and I'm glad he made the recommendation. The place can be a little tricky to find. I got lost and pulled over to give them a phone call. The nice hostess redirected me where to go and informed me they had parking in the back. The restaurant is quite small on the inside, but I noticed there was patio seating outside. I came during the freezing cold of winter, so I can understand why no one wants to sit outside. However, I heard during the summer, it gets quite packed. The customer service here is great. And the food is pretty darn good. Their shaved broccoli and brussel sprouts was a great starter.The burrata was so delicious! The meatballs, the garganelli bolognese... goodness, they were all yummy! They also have a great selection on pizza as well. Locali clam pizza is a must try. I would highly recommend everyone to come here and check this place out! Great food! We have been enjoying Locali's food and has become our go to for pizza and salads.

Food wasn't bad, but service was quite overwhelming. They wouldn't leave us alone trying to take our plates that we weren't quite finished with yet. We came in early on a Friday night and said we just wanted some apps and drinks real quick. We were seated at the first seat right inside the door. We all got cocktails and then ordered the Charred Brussel Sprouts, Umami Meatballs, Blistered Shishito Peppers and the Crispy Crunchy Calamari. No complaints on any of the food, but we literally had to grab one servers hand as they were trying to take away a plate while telling another at least 4 times that no we weren't done yet. It got so intense it went from us being kind of mad about to us just laughing at the staff for being so anal about stealing the last of our food. All while doing this yet another staff member kept asking if we wanted to order more food and we declined multiple times. We weren't in there long and I understand getting a table that isn't ordering entrees out the door once 6pm on a Friday comes along but this was intense for no reason. I'll eat there again, but will be a little more stern right off the bat for them to just chill. read more
