The article references the Savoy Hotel, Danny Meyer's hospitality group, "the pursuit of excellence," and repeated commitments to quality and consistency. So I thought perhaps, at long last, the espresso situation had been resolved. Reader, it had not. I ordered a Cortado to stay. "Would you like that in a mug for here or a paper cup?" An encouraging start. I then positioned myself beside the espresso machine like a wildlife documentarian returning to observe a rare but persistent behavioral phenomenon. The barista dosed the portafilter, then tamped the coffee while holding the portafilter in midair, applying what appeared to be approximately the amount of pressure required to test whether an avocado is ripe. He locked it into the machine and pressed start. Brown liquid immediately exploded from the spouts with absolutely no delay whatsoever. The shot was over in roughly four seconds. For those unfamiliar with espresso, this is generally considered suboptimal. The resulting Cortado tasted primarily of hot milk and faintly burnt coffee sadness. After two and a half confirmation sips, I quietly left the remainder on the counter and departed. At this point I no longer review Ross's espresso. I monitor it.

I've never had such a negative experience like this but I definitely won't be going back. I was so excited to try this place after I saw that they catered to people who are gluten free and vegans. That's why when I found myself in Ridgefield, I had to stop by. The staff was very accommodating and happy to answer any questions. I ordered a slice of the Chocolate Bourbon NO PECAN bars. DELICIOUS. Heaven in your mouth. Couldn't leave with just one, so I took two more to go. Paired with one of their cappuccinos, this made for an enjoyable experience. The items are special, well curated, and not what you'd find in a generic store like Bed, Bath, and Beyond, which is exactly the point of an adorable shop like this in downtown Ridgefield. The pictures on yelp so far don't do it justice, I wish I'd taken some to show how nicely merchandised the store is. Elizabella's has all sorts of food supplies like fondant, sprinkles, and assorted fancy sugars. There are also unique boxed mixes, like one for apple cider or pumpkin (baked instead of fried) donuts, or a dog biscuit mix with a little bone-shaped cookie cutter. There is also a ton of unique cake molds and serving trays. Every imaginable shape of bundt pan, plus ceramic bowls and trays, and some neat retro-style coffee and tea canisters. I bought a huge bottle of good quality vanilla on a previous visit that I'm still using, plus they have a ton of extract flavors with your typical mint or almond, plus more exotic like chocolate hazelnut. There are also the assorted kitchen accessories like aprons, napkins, placemats, decorative mixing bowls beyond boring clear glass, and a variety of teas. Definitely worth a visit!
