Had the privilege of dining at this fine establishment in November of last year (2024). The food was fantastic and so was the atmosphere. The only issue we had was with the service. The staff seemed rather rude at first and not very accommodating. Eventually, the seemed to come around though. Fantastic pasta! We ordered the same dish twice. It was that good!!

As always it was the best fall treat to dine on the patio at Tavern - the service is always above and beyond, the dishes just the perfect temp and taste and combos, and overall you just feel "special" being here! Tucked away in the magical Silvermine area of Norwalk - It feels like you're states away when I'm only 10 minutes from home. The scallops were so perfectly cooked and the polenta the perfect accompaniment. Duck is always on point here as are the crack-like mushrooms haha Desserts weren't needed but the descriptions just didn't allow us to pass up on the opportunity to waddle out of here - elegantly of course. Until next time ...

This was one of our favorite meals this year. A beautiful interior but an even better menu. They had a mix of small plates and entrees but we dabbled in both. Their spicy rigatoni was very flavorful and honestly, I could've eaten another plate but every single dish was well made with fresh ingredients. We will definitely be back! Service was thoughtful and they did not rush us out the door. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Wowowow - we stayed at the inn next door for a couple of nights and were lucky enough to have a couple of meals here. The vibes are immaculate and everyone on staff is very helpful and kind. Everything is truly spectacular, but here are a couple of my faves: Spicy rigatoni - this is a need, not a want. It's the best spicy rig that I've ever had, and actually has a decent bit of heat ~cough, Carbone~ Steak tartare - this is really delicious and quite filling too Gazpacho - this was super savory and yummy - we couldn't believe that it didn't have cream! Tomato burrata salad - super fresh and seasonal! Prince Edward Island oysters - very very tasty and fresh The cocktail menu and wine list is also great! You will not regret stopping by :)

Dinner here was such a treat. We ate outside with a view of the water feature and gardens. I recommend this if the weather is good. The burrata starter was great, and the Caesar had real anchovies which was a plus for me. My ribeye was ordered rare and cooked perfectly. A great local date spot, reservation needed.

Outstanding! A 10/10 experience from the ambiance, to the staff, and most importantly the food. The ambiance inside and the outdoor patio is beautiful and homey. The staff were courteous and very helpful explaining some things on the menu we were unsure about. The food was the star of the show. Went with a group of friends and we tried a variety of plates to share. There was not a dish we had any complaints about! I am obsessed with the fried oyster mushrooms so so good! We also loved the Cacio E Pepe and the duck!!! But truly everything was great. My friends raved about the beets. Would definitely recommend and be coming back! Oh and if you were thinking about skipping dessert, don't. The flourless chocolate cake is delicious ( I added a scoop of ice cream)!

Four of us went for dinner for the first time on the recommendation of friends. It was well worth the expense. Each of us started with different cocktails (something that I never do) which were tasty, and the went onto wines during the meal. The appetizers of roasted oysters and large shrimp were excellent. The main courses of the duck frites for two, the swordfish and the beet salad - all very tasty and enjoyable. Feeling satiated, we shared one dessert; the chocolate mousse. I give the place five stars, a very rare score for me. Our waiter was personable and knowledgeable and attentive - one could not ask for more. We were amongst the last diners in the place but were never rushed. If we are back in the area again we would dine here again, and recommend the restaurant to friends.

Upscale eatery inside (or just outside) of a beautiful building that overlooks a river The building began as a textile mill in the early 1800s, became a speakeasy in the 1920's, and then transformed into an inn and restaurant after that Reservations are highly recommended, but I was lucky that I came for a late lunch and they had a seat at the bar that was available The menu is comprised of a bunch of different American classic entrees, as well as a bunch of creative cocktail creations (alliteration for the win) I got a pasta dish and it was very tasty. I also got a coffee old fashion and it was very strong (the bartender was awesome). The food came out very quickly The downsides are that all of the parking is valet and the food is pretty pricey 9.5

"A birthday dinner that actually felt like one."…read more Sienna Ristorante gets the balance right in a way most places don't. The space immediately stands out with a clean, modern feel that still feels warm, not staged or overly polished. It sets the tone before the food even hits the table. The meal itself followed through. The complimentary bread with oil was simple but done right, soft with a good crust and a clean, flavorful dip. We shared the wild mushroom arancini, and that was the first real standout. Crispy on the outside, rich on the inside, and the sauce was the kind you keep going back to without thinking. It carried the dish. For mains, I went with the wild mushroom pizza, which came out with a well balanced crust and just enough weight from the toppings without feeling heavy. The mushrooms were the focus and they delivered. The honeynut squash ravioli leaned more delicate, slightly sweet, and felt more composed than expected in a good way. Drinks held their own too. The Old Fashioned was clean and steady, while the lychee martini added something lighter and more refreshing to the table. They close the meal with biscotti and limoncello, which already would have been enough, but we added the tiramisu and that was the right call. It rounded everything out without feeling excessive, just a clean finish to a well paced dinner. Service matched the tone of the restaurant, attentive without hovering, and the pacing of the meal felt natural from start to finish. This is the kind of place that feels intentional. Not just good food, but a full experience that actually holds together. Easy to come back to, especially for something worth celebrating.

After exiting off the "always under construction" Merritt Pkwy (CT 15), I headed into the downtown area of New Canaan and decided on Lombardi's Ristorante & Bar, which opened recently in the former Papyrus space. This Italian restaurant and bar offers and cozy modern atmosphere with table seating along the right wall and a full bar with seating along the left side. They do have a dress code here including no hats, no hoodies, no sweatpants. The food offerings include a selection of crafted homemade pasta dishes, meat & seafood dishes, appetizers, salads, cheese & meat samplers, and dessert. The pricing is on the higher side and food is prepared to order. The bar serves beer, wine, and cocktails. I also called the restaurant to make sure they were open after 9 pm, when I would be passing through. I arrived here around 9:15pm, which was the perfect time when things weren't too busy. I left my cap in the vehicle and entered Lombardi's and took a seat at the bar. The bartender gave me a menu to look at and offered water. I decided on a starter, but the bartender helped me decide on an entrée. For a starter, the Frittatina Napoletana ($18 plus tax), which was a fried pasta fritter filled with linguine noodles, peas & ham in a cream sauce and topped with a white sauce. For an entrée, the Cavatelli Rossi Al Ragu Bianco ($30 plus tax), very firm hand rolled pasta curls, in a white veal ragu with dehydrated tomato dust & parmigiano fondue. Both the starter and entrée were fantastic choices with good hearty flavors. After I was done, I passed on dessert and got the check with Toast QR code which was $51.52 with tax and before tip. Overall, I enjoyed some great well prepared Italian dishes, nicely presented. The service was very good here. The bartender was able to keep an eye on things, offering water & drinks, making suggestions and also chatting about life. The food runners brought me the starter and entrée in timely order. I would definitely recommend Lombardi's for a date night, special occasion, or just wanting to enjoy some great food.

Eventually they sat back down after the waiter said something. But they sat ON the table and couldn't sit still. Totally get that they're kids, but at some point management should have said something before we asked.. Anyway, that's not really the restaurants fault. It just made for an unpleasant experience for our party. Our server was friendly and attentive, Our food was good, portions were good: Everything tasted fresh. My only gripe is that it's very loud and I feel like management should ask parents to control kids that are ruining it for others.

We take a look at the menu and my daughters notice a soft-shell crab on the specials - for a mere $39.95 it came on a whole bed of wilted spinach. we order the clam oregata and a seafood risotto for ourselves. The clams and risotto were very good, but the crab was appalling, I wish I took a picture. It was a skimpy crab with literally maybe 2-3 teaspoons of meat in it, no exaggeration. The owners actually came over to ask how everything was, and when we told them about the crab and the fact that there wasn't any meat in it they just said "well, it's a whole crab" and walked away. I was really confused. I don't know whether they overcooked it (likely) or if it was caught too late, either way no apology whatsoever from them. m The shell had the consistency of hard shrimp skin, not something easy to chew like it should have been. One clam app, one risotto and the crab were $125 And I had to make my daughters dinner once I got home. I don't think I will be returning, there are plenty of better restaurants in the area.. what a shame.
