Had a great lunch at Zucca Gastrobar in Westport. We started with bread, then moved on to the crab cakes appetizer, made with jumbo lump crab and served over a jalapeño aioli with mixed greens. Fresh, light, and just the right amount of kick. The eggplant rollatini, filled with ricotta, mozzarella, parmigiano, spinach, and pomodoro sauce, was super comforting and packed with flavor. For mains, the homemade lasagna really delivered. House-made pasta layered with rich bolognese and creamy béchamel, topped with parmesan and fontina. It was hearty without feeling too heavy. Portions were generous, the food was consistently excellent, and the service was warm and attentive. Definitely a spot worth coming back to. read more

This used to be the Tarry Lodge. This new gastro bar is interesting PARKING - as before there are a few spots so generally limited. Two spots were taken away to enable outdoor seating ENTRANCE - it is early so the bar tender quickly greeted us and took us to a table. Actually we are the only ones here. MENU - lots of categories and definitely gastro pub geared but other than the appetizers it's 100% an Italian offering The layout of the menu is like a restaurant ECCO in Trumbull. SERVICE - we came early so we got the pleasure of the bartender and the waitress serving us. Must have to do with the splits on tips LOL BATHROOM - very nice and very clean. There are two in the back that are both unisex, just so u know MUSIC - have to add a note here. The sound system features some older but popular songs but the spin is an unknown to me artist that makes her own spin on the songs. Pretty good but I'm no expert APPETIZERS - I tried the crab cakes as a comparison to other places. Their plate used lump crab with very light breading that was Great! I've had better sauces with crab cakes but the small greens that came with it were the bomb to say the least ENTREES - my wife had the gluten free pizza with the short rib toppings. Although a little overcooked it was very good. I had the chicken scarpillio that was excellent. What I enjoyed was that for the red hot peppers they infused the heat in the sauce with very few small shavings of red pepper for texture. The chicken was different as well with a crispy skin coating as opposed to cooked in the sauce. Mikey liked it! DESERT - didn't engulfed so let me know what u think LOL PRICE - if there is a rub this is it. For two people with a couple of drinks the damage was $134 and with a decent tip $162. read more

Morden classy restaurant for group dinner. Food is very good and price is also reasonable. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very pleasant. I ordered grilled octopus and seafood black squid ink pasta. Both very good. Especially pasta was cooked al dente and very fresh Two downside. 1. Crazy noisy and if you want a relaxed cozy dinner with good conversation, this is not a place. We need to scream when talk and i could not hear 30% of my friend's story. 2. Service was not very fast. We waited 25 min -30 min or more from appetizers and had to ask where our pastas were. The food was fine, good, I've been several times before but will not go back. Two of my daughters and I went to dinner last night and we all ordered a martini. The martinis were $15, which is absolutely fine. BUT they charged me an extra $2.00 per drink for olives. I would have happily paid $17 for the drinks instead of $15, but the fact that they charged me an extra $2.00 for olives was just tacky and unacceptable. I won't be back. The restaurant was basically empty, I can only assume that they are hurting for business if they have to upcharge for olives in a martini. Tarry Lodge was my family's favorite restaurant in Westport. I wanted to love Zucca but it's just not very good. Our waiter was nice, but there is an older waiter there who was rude to me when I walked in. Just really bad experience for food that is fine at best. Won't be back. read more

Went by last night with my wife and mother in law to try Zucca for the first time. Walked in to a beautiful ambiance, like you were in NYC, beautiful chandeliers, and a great set up for its size. One major complaint was the floor, it was raining, but the floor felt like it was just waxed and an ice skating rink. Was in shoes with a grip and was still sliding. The chairs couldn't remain still the floor so was incredibly slick. The food was delicious, but do have to say the portion size was a bit small for the price. The hot oil pizza my wife had ordered was amazing, would put it up with some of the amazing pizzas around fairfield county (for hot oil that is). Staff was a bit spotty, we had to get up a few times and ask the host for cheese, as well as the pepper grinder. I had finished my wine before the food even came out, and did not see our waiter till after we were finished eating. I had asked a young man (runner or busser) for our waiter or more water, and did not see him again till he was asking if we wanted desert. On his part, could have had three more glasses of wine to his check. Don't know if I'd rush back, but always an option for a date idea, next time I'm bringing my skates! read more

My friend & I had a really great 1st experience here for dinner. We got a couple cocktails, shared the mozzarella sticks & an order of the Chicken Milanese. She got the cookie skillet & I had the cheesecake for dessert. The service, ambiance, food & drinks were all outstanding. Came for a friend's birthday. Restaurant and parking lot are fairly small, but there was street parking close by. Our booth was cozy and perfect for our party. Zucca is a great newer Italian place in Westport. My friends and I came here on Wednesday night where they have the prefixed menu for $29, and it was great. I had a very fun drink that was served with a bubble on top. For my appetizer I had the arrancini, which was so savory. My main dish was the vodka rigatoni and it was just as good. The pasta was very fresh and the sauce was perfect. The restaurant itself is very pretty inside, and a place I would very much love to visit again. read more

Zucca is such a beautiful and delicious delight! The interior is gorgeous- as is their menu! They definitely offer something for everyone and will accommodate you happily! The staff is extremely welcoming and knowledgeable; the manager Kirsten, is beyond accommodating. Enjoyed the design of the gastrobar interior. Great pizza oven. Lots of parking and a wide open dining room. Attentive service. The burger is massive with bacon and egg on top. The chicken & waffles were good. Seems like all the items are very fresh. We did have one hiccup with the cream for the coffee, it curdled but was quickly fixed with a fresh cup of coffee and fresh cream. Over all we had a grand time and I would recommend giving them a try. This is a very popular location so I would recommend making a reservation. read more

We have had dinner at Zucca several times. Most recently, we had a reservation and when we arrived we were immediately directed to a high top table in the small bar area next to the entrance that is not even suitable for a table. I would understand this if we had not had a reservation. There was no explanation given other than if we didn't want the table we would have to wait 20 to 30 minutes because they were booked. We left the cramped and noisy restaurant and had an enjoyable dinner elsewhere. read more

Zucca is an incredible woman-owned business and a must-try in Westport thanks to their incredible food, beautiful ambiance, accommodating staff and a particularly top-notch events team. I can't recommend Zucca enough, having been there for brunch and hosting a private event there this past weekend. Something that sets the Zucca brunch experience apart from start to finish is the VIBRANCE. From delicious food full of fresh produce like our excellent frittata and french toast, fun mimosa flights perfect to celebrate with friends, and the super unique wallpaper, brunch at Zucca is a colorful experience through and through. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous (even the bathroom!) and the food is next level. I'm dying to go back to try the pastas, and I loved their simple but delicious caesar salad at my event. The staff was also so accommodating. Zucca's INCREDIBLE owner, Kirsten, is the reason my bridal shower was such a success. Kirsten's level of professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine passion shines through from the minute you contact her, not to mention how reasonably priced their events menu is. Plus, a convenient location for guests traveling on the train! Kirsten is the reason to book your event at Zucca. She not only assisted with event design, decor, set up, and breakdown, but also kindly accepted all of our questions and was a constant (but never annoying) presence throughout our event. Zucca is a vast improvement over Tarry Lodge which used to occupy this space. The interior is much more comfortable and very attractive. As far as the food goes there is no comparison. We had the arugula salad and it was delicious. For entrees we shared the Spaghetti Cacio E Pepe and the Chicken Francese. Both were correctl;y prepared and excellent! I might add that both the food and the wine portions were generous. Lastly, the service was commensurate with the food. As long as they remain consistent Zucca will be a regular for us! read more

Second time eating here. Last time was 5 months ago and it is still really good. We were a group of five and enjoyed our appetizers of arancini, fried calamari and grilled octopus. The arancini are very cheesy and less rice like but I appreciated the difference. We had a variety of main dishes: the osso buco which I was told was excellent, the seared tuna which was very good, the NY strip was cooked perfectly to order. There were 2 misses. First, the short rib and mushroom ragu. It was cooked nicely and had a nice variety of mushrooms but it tasted of too much truffle. Less is more sometimes. The other miss was the carbonara. It was bland and I had to add alot of parmesan to enjoy it. The service was excellent. There is still more to explore on the menu so we will be back. read more

Great addition to the Westport dining scene and a huge upgrade over its predecessor, Tarry Lodge. We went with a group of six and nobody had difficulty finding a choice as the menu is pretty broad. We found the service to be excellent - water refilled frequently, dishes showed up all at the same time, drink presentation also excellent (I recommend the Smoky Old Fashioned), Had the fig bruschetta appetizer which was oversewed, but the rigatoni entree was homemade and fabulous. I'll start with the food - brunch items are great - Avocado toast with the perfect runny egg; Breakfast pizza; Eggs Benedict; Biscuits and gravy... fantastic! The Wednesday pre-fixe menu is a steal and I LOVED my order - the arancini, followed with the chicken Milanese and ended with the cheesecake - still thinking about it!! The gluten-free margherita pizza was OUTSTANDING! The crust was crispy and tasted like it was cooked in a cast-iron pan. I never would have guessed it was gluten-free if I didn't order it. One of the best things about Zucca is the attention to detail that they put into the garnishes of their amazing cocktails. I really appreciate the amount of work they put into creating something so small, but creates a big impact. I've never seen anything like it here in Westport. Service is great. Our orders always come out timely and correct, and we enjoy chatting with the staff. Of course, when it's busy, it's busy. Once or twice, I've had to wave down a runner, or our server, but it's never a problem. Looking forward to my next meal here! read more
