We have been coming to this Resturant for years. The food and service at one point was excellent. Unfortunately, things have changed. The service is slow and very unprofessional. The food was fair at best with the pappardelle pasta being mush and overcooked and with very little meat sauce. The outside seating area looks like a10 year old put it together. We met friends at Tarantino on one of the hottest days of the year, but inside the restaurant was a pleasant experience, from incredible service to delicious food, we shared an appetizer, had salads, entrees and shared a couple of deserts... everyone was happy with their meals, and went home full and content. Had the most wonderful meal and experience when dining at Tarantino's with old friends. We were visiting in Ct and shared dinner with two wonderful couples. Fantastic experience starting with the service and food. My daughter and I shared the zuppa de pesce after consuming vast quantities of appetizers brought to our table. Amidst some stiff competition on Railroad Pl. Tarantino, conveniently across from the Westport train station, manages to keep crowds happy & merited 3.5 stars over all but could merit 4 stars if they improved in a few areas. We dined on a Wednesday evening & found a bustling restaurant & bar. Before we shared apps, the table received a nice complimentary serving of olives & Italian bread. A decent dipping oil also arrived in its bottle. Homemade pastas are the star of the show here & a spicy chicken scarpariello was tasty & properly cooked, though this diner could have used a few more veggies to round out the plate & use up the excellent sauce. Desserts were just ok. The advertised NY cheese cake was more like the French silky version, lacking body & just the right amount of tart. It also appeared to have been microwaved ? to unfreeze perhaps ? Service was a team effort with servers whisking away plates before they were actually finished. One thing to note: Very good wine list here. Wish they listed the vintages though. On Wednesdays they run a promotion advertised on their website : it's half price on bottles of wine. But buyer beware, when we went to pay the check, we noticed full price for the wine on our bill. It was corrected after we pointed it out. This place just never disappoints. The food is absolutely delicious. It's been a while since we have been here and it is just as good as when we dined the last time. This time we had the grilled calamari which was served over a red sauce, liked the calamari but not so much of a fan of the red sauce. For my entree I had the double cut pork chop and it was simply delicious. Cooked perfectly with roasted garlic and hot peppers served with broccoli. I definitely enjoyed this meal. I ordered a side of broccoli rabe which was delicious. My girlfriend had the Chicken Scarpariello. She loved it, it has a nice bite to it and the portion size was ridiculous. For dessert we had the flan; no joke this was the best flan I have had outside of my girlfriend's. Her flan is to die for but this flan was really good! We've been coming to Tarantino for over 13 years. Never a "regular", but enough where Frank, the owner, recognizes you and makes you feel special. Same as Frank, the manager. Clever, (head of wait staff/asst mgr?) is also a special one. I consider this an important factor as a guest. The food is amazing. I've raved for years that they have the BEST "pollo scarpariello" - I always try the dish at other places, but I haven't found a close comparison to Tarantino - it's simply the BEST here!! Fun, vibrant, mixed dining crowd of couples and families, young and older, an excellent, unusual menu with a lot of depth. - not just the expected Italian restaurant things. For example, their scallops wrapped in prosciutto in a cognac cream sauce were divine. The stuffed whole artichoke was superb. Nice selection of house made pastas. Good service too. And it was not too noisy, at least where we were seated. Prices are typical for Fairfield County, which means they are on the high side, but not crazy. read more

We rolled into Tarantino late & road weary. All we wanted was a bowl of spaghetti and a glass of wine. The dark ambience, two seats at the bar, and a smile from our bartender were exactly what we needed. The fresh pasta was excellent, the wine recommended was delicious, and we went to bed so happy. Service was very good. We ordered pasta dishes and mine was very good. Cavatelli. My friend ordered the ravioli and it was ridiculously small portioned. 4 raviolis. Prices are standard for local restaurants. The mAjor downside is the noise levels are so high that I could not hear my friend across the table. Two birthday celebrations were occurring with very loud guests. The restaurant needs to add some sound deadening materials or walls. I would not go back simply because of the noise. read more

So was told by a waiter 2 years ago (at a different restaurant) that this is the best Italian food in town. Then someone else told me same thing last month. Finally visited for take-out and the sauce on the pasta was so spicy it was hard to eat. Also was WAY too al dente. The veal dish was so tough and both dishes had too much oil. With tip looking at over 50 bucks just for take-out for 2 dishes. Greatly disappointed. read more

OK, second time ordering out during the pandemic and chose Tarantino's. We chose well. I had the salmon in mustard sauce along with a side of broccoli rabe and my husband had cavatelli with sausage and mushrooms in tomato sauce. Oh my goodness...what wonderful meals. We ordered by phone and paid ahead so all we had to do was pick up curbside. We included a 20% gratuity because what's right is right. This Westport gem is never a bad choice and and they now have tables curbside so dining out should not be a problem. Servers had face masks so I would not hesitate to dine out here. It's time to slowly go about our daily lives with reasonable care. If you're looking for a fantastic meal and reasonable prices, Tarantino's is a wonderful choice. I'd say more like two and a half stars. The place is very nice inside and the bar looked good. The wait staff was very attentive. The meal took about 40 minutes to come out. The food was just OK.. nothing special.. I had the Orriccheti (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) with sausage and broccoli rabe in an oil and garlic sauce. It was OK but bland.. couldn't taste any garlic and I had to add olive oil. No real flavor. My son's girlfriend had a spigghetti and shrimp with sun dried tomatoes, again bland.. my son had the sword fish, dry and bland. My wife had the scallops which were very good. All in all like I said it was ok but nothing to write home about. If I could have made a suggestion I'd tell the chef Italian food needs garlic and virgin olive oil... don't be afraid to use it. First time visitor to this restaurant and I can say from a food standpoint it did not disappoint. Went out to dinner with family, the four of us had reservations at 7:30 and were promptly seated. Every aspect of dinner from the appetizers to the main course and finally dessert was spot on. My wife and I split the clams casino special appetizer, the clams were a little on the small side for my liking but the dish itself taste wise was phenomenal. My cousin and his wife split the Caesar salad and also had the same clams casino special, they said both dishes were great. As for the main dishes my cousin and myself had the special pasta dish which was a version of Zuppa Di Pesce fra Diavolo style. Dish was incredible but I was a little surprised when I asked the waiter if the pasta was homemade because the restaurant highlights the majority of their pasta is being fresh/homemade and he said not the spaghetti in this dish so basically it's box pasta. If homemade/fresh pasta was available for the dish it was not offered to us. My wife had the BRASATO TARTUFATO: Pan seared shrimp and scallops with mushrooms in white wine and truffle oil. This dish was awesome, Luckily she let me have a taste of the dish before she polished it off. Scallops were huge, shrimp was great, sauce was the star. My cousin's wife had the POLLO MARGHERITA which is Organic chicken breast topped with prosciutto, tomato and mozzarella in a delicate brandy cream sauce. Another dish that looked great and she said was great. For dessert my wife and I split the tartufo, which was very good and my cousin and his wife had Profiteroles: Whipped cream filled creampuffs covered with chocolate sauce, also very good. Only a couple negatives about the place were (1) if you are looking for a quiet dinner on a Friday or Saturday night this is definitely not the place. (2)Where they're located unfortunately parking is never an easy task so be prepared to walk and have some patience. (3) Service was a little scattered brained, I know they were busy but for example with dinner we asked for grated cheese thought it would come right out, after the waiter and the other I individual assisting him walked by us three times, I asked another waiter for grated cheese and it came right out. read more

We have lived in Fairfield for six years and we have been coming to your restaurant for just as long. We have celebrated numerous birthdays and anniversaries at Tarantino's. We always had great experiences there until Monday night. August 23rd. We brought our friends from NY and NJ to the restaurant, we were excited to share the experience with them. We had a 7pm reservation in the restaurant. It was a very busy night. It took 40 minutes to get our first drinks, and I thought that was unlike our other experiences there. But I struggled it off hoping the night would get better. We ordered appetizers, calamari and oysters, that also took a while to get and when we finally did...the calamari was very over cooked. At 8:55 pm we were shocked because we still hadn't gotten our dinners. All the tables around us were being served and were done, and some even got to the restaurant after we did. We felt ignored. We finally got our meals after 9pm and 2 of the 4 meals were not good, the pork chop was tough and the gnocchi was bland. When we asked to speak to the manager, he was extremely rude. We were absolutely shocked. We have eaten countless meals at Tarantino's and never had a bad experience. The food was always top notch. Last night the service was the worst I have ever experienced. So bad that I don't know if we will ever return. As a customer, I felt completely ignored and disrespected. The manager did not even apologize, he just took the check and said he would take care of it. All in all not a good experience at the restaurant. read more

My children were visiting me from out-of-state before I was to go into the hospital for major surgery. We had eaten lunch a previous year at Tarantino, and it was very pleasant. Everything about this year's experience was disappointingly bad--the food, the service, the ambiance! Upon entering, we were given the "fish eye" as though, "What are you doing here?" The place was virtually empty when we arrived. We were immediately served some Italian bread and olive oil (so far, so good)! Then we ordered...For me, the Ragout of Eggplant--has a few shrimp, totally scant eggplant--surprisingly minimal, though the flavor was good. It was just such a stingy portion! My son ordered a squid dish--contained barely enough food to get through the rest of the day. My daughter-in-law had the only satisfactory (though not splendid) dish--one of the chicken choices. Not feeling fulfilled, we went for the dessert--bread pudding, always a favorite. It was quite dried out, really hard to swallow (guess they used the leftover Italian bread that we enjoyed at the start!) Meantime, the restaurant had filled up a bit. Staff seemed quite jovial with the other diners. Again, strange looks from the Maitre d'....did we remind him of someone? Was this a "clubby" situation?? Was it our clothing/nothing bizarre at all? I ate here with family in celebration of my sister's graduation from High School this past June. I ordered Salmon Picatta, to say it was amazing does not do the dish justice. The fish was delicately cooked to perfection, the lemon sauce superb and was garnished with some of the largest capers I've ever seen. It was possibley the best Italian food I've had and is. The service was above par, the atmosphere sophisticated yet relaxed and the food to die for. If I did not live so far away, I would visit more often. It is a hidden gem and a rare find. read more

I love the location and idea of Tarantino restaurant. Westport truly needs a great old school Italian restaurant. The food at Tarantino is quite good. I recently had the tuna tartare and it was very good. I also had the pasta with their "famous" meat sausage and it also was quite good. My wife also enjoyed her food. The negative of our experience was our waiter. Perhaps it was because we sat at a table in the bar area, but the waiter let the bus boys handle most interaction with us. We found him arrogant and uninterested. I really have mixed feeling whether we will come back even though the food was quite good. Will we be back? Unlikely. Westport has a lot of great restaurants and I'd rather go somewhere that actually appreciates our business. read more

Our family tried Tarantino's last night and wow we were impressed with everything, the service, the food, the atmosphere and especially the flavors. We are absolutely adding this to our list of favorite restaurants. The cured meat and cheese tray was a table hit with abundant portions of everything. I recommend the Aperol Spritz or Paper Plane to complement the apps. The Expresso Martini was excellent with very full flavor. Dinner arrived for all five of us at the same time and all of the meals were hot and properly presented. Big shout out to the kitchen and wait staff they really do a great job. I highly recommend Maria's specialty ravioli, mine was filled with veal and topped with truffles. The flavors were well balanced and intense. The Pappardelle al Ragu di Ossobuco and Cavatelli ala Tarantino were delicious and table highlights. We finished the meal with Tiramisu (of course), Budino di Pane and a special Coconut cake with Gelato.
