Talk about last minute birthday decisions! So last year on my birthday I had a friend order takeout and we had it at their house. This year for my 35th, I was on my own for dinner this time around. That being said, I think I found a winner here to celebrate my 35th birthday. Say hello to Lazy Sister, located in the heart of South Norwalk where the restaurant scene comes alive! Because I was a single coming in, I was seated right away, no reservation needed. They were even kind enough to place my bag in the atrium so that I wouldn't have it in the way. I was seated at a table set for two, but it's a good thing I guess that I came on my own. First thing I notice upon coming in is that it is a very classy restaurant, not your typical dim sum joint. It's also not a big space, but that's fine by me. Honestly, this would make a great date night spot for anyone going out on a date. Funny enough, I was actually suggested this place by my friend the night I went to Jacob's Pickles. For reasons I am about to get to, I am glad I decided not to come here until a later date. So why would I say that? Well, because tonight, my order consisted of two Junmai Genshu "Little Sumo" sakes as well as the Salt & Pepper Calamari, a medium level Dry Fry Style Szechuan Chicken, and then the Fortune Cookie Soft Serve for dessert. Not only did I pay more here, but I also got more inebriated here than I did at Jacob's Pickles. But it's my birthday, so tonight it's not in my contract to care. You only live once, and I am already in like the middle of my life, so it all evens out, right? Speaking of the food, everything I ate was immaculate! The calamari was seasoned perfectly, vegetables were cooked and crisp, the spice from that Szechuan didn't overpower. It was more like a pleasant tingle, especially when mixed with water or sake. Everything was done just right. And that soft serve cooled me down in just the right way. Delicious and well worth finishing off the night! And while there were other drinks that definitely looked good, I couldn't say no to sake. That's like THE ultimate celebratory drink far as I'm concerned, and it was awesome! If you were wondering about the service, these people are quite friendly. They help you through anything you might need. While I waited a while to tell them, I did eventually tell my waitress it was birthday while I was on dessert. Cool enough, we are both Tauri! I love it when I get to talk to another Taurus! :) The bill was also why I am glad I waited for another occasion to come here. Because I decided to splurge, the affair was about $100 once tip was factored in. It was well worth it, and tonight's outing will definitely make for a fun story to tell. But 34 was a hard year. I deserve to let loose every now and then, and hopefully 35 will be a happier age. All in all, a great restaurant and well worth the money to come here. read more

Has amazing potential! Went twice and had two very different experiences. Night one I sat at the bar and ordered the lychee cocktail and it was delicious. The bartender was knowledgeable and I trusted him with recommendations. We ordered egg rolls and the wontons in chili oil. Everything was tasty, wish the chili oil was more spicy but the flavor was amazing. Day two I sat at a table and ordered the cherry cola, veggie lo mien, and crispy beef. My friends ordered the spring rolls, sesame chicken, and chicken and broccoli. The server accidentally put in a plain lo mien but it was quickly fixed. Both were tasty but it was better with veggies. All entrees were okay. It's your typical local American Chinese food cuisine and I didn't taste or see any difference to it? It did taste a bit more fresh but I wouldn't order again. I rated Lazy Sister's Beef Scallion Pancakes has my favorite dish of 2025 and I stand by that. The customer service and staff - so friendly and welcoming, the ambiance is a vibe, and food is so insanely good! You can walk in but past 7 PM, it could be a good idea to make a reservation as it's a small spot. Monday through Friday 3-6 PM they have happy hour with really good Cocktails, Mala Fries, Fried Dumplings, Crab Rangoon, Spicy Wontons, and so much more! They pan fried dumplings are so perfectly crispy and juicy, you won't want to get them anywhere else! The Soup Dumplings here are also incredible! It's hard to get a reservation here because the space is small, but we went early on a Saturday night. The food was delicious and our waitress was attentive. Our only complaint was that our apps and entrees came out at the same time, but the manager apologized and took dishes off our bill, which was very nice. I'd definitely go back! read more

Delicious food even for a quick lunch. Ask the bartender the top five things in order two of them. One was a pork, fried rice, huge portion and some dumplings. Service was great and extremely detailed about their drinks which really helped me decide what I was looking to get or not get. Soup dumplings can be competitive to flushing one. The skin is thin and meat is juicy nice broth inside. 8/10 Wonton chilli oil (not spicy one tho) is yummy. Thin wonton skin. Salt and pepper squid is good , seems they use fresh squid, again it's small portion, good with beer. Dry pot fish (very salty) taste good but too salty (only order it if you are drinking) Hot&sour soup not spicy & sour per my family. Dan dan noodles good but can skip the sauce, it's very salty. I can taste the peanut but not overwhelming (careful if you are allergic) It's on the pricey side comparing the price & size to other Chinese take out. But I'm open to come back try other dishes. I've been trying to get down to eat at Lazy Sister for a while and finally got to go. Let me preface by saying I used to go to Enchanted all the time. The place got a nice facelift. The staff were amazing and service was mostly on point. They didn't time the food arrivals properly. All my husband's food came out with our appetizers. I had to wait for my entree but not long. We got the wonton in chili oil, Dan Dan noodles, Mongolian beef and he got some Shanghai noodles I think it was called. The food was very good. My least favorite was the Dan Dan Mein. It lacked the pool of chili oil it used to swim in and the crispy minced pork when it was Enchanted. Mind you, it's the same owner. Trendy little spot and for a change it gets pretty busy. I'm happy for the owner and now it gives Mecha a run for the money. I'll go back at some point but I have better Szechuan places I'd eat first. Oh the craft cocktails are delicious! read more

We venture out to Lazy Sister Chinese restaurant because it was highly recommended. This is a nice cozy spot, you definitely need a reservation if you don't want to hang around waiting for a table. We ordered the Scallion pancakes, chicken with broccoli and general tso chicken. (nothing outside of the norm) The Scallion pancakes were nice and flakey. The chicken in broccoli was pretty standard. The general tso chicken was extra spicy and thats exactly how I ordered it. The chicken was very tender and tasty. We had to try their cocktails so we ordered a spicy margarita and a mai tai. The mixologist took awhile to get the drinks together but eventually the drinks arrived at the table. It was definitely worth the wait. I was actually surprised that he nailed my mai tai. We went on a Sunday mid day and there was an hour wait for a table, but opted for sitting at the bar. Located in south Norwalk you can park on the street If you are able to or there are plenty of pay to park lots very close by for your choosing. I ordered the Szechuan Dry pot style at a level medium spicy. Note: If you love spicy food as much as me, the medium isn't that spicy and asked for chili oil on the side. We went here for dinner last night and it was nice to see a bustling spot. The hosts were excellent and made good recommendations. The dumplings were wonderful as well as the scallion pancake filled with meat. We had the mongolian beef, the fried rice, the string beans, the duck bao and it was all so good. Lazy Sister is the best Chinese food I've had!!! No joke, the food is so good and doesn't leave you with a stomach ache like a lot of other places. I think my family and I tried almost everything on the menu. The beef scallion pancakes were the most unexpected but delicious. The soup dumplings. The noodles. The Mongolian beef. The soft serve at the end. I can go on and on!!! And the chili oil was a perfect addition when I wanted an extra kick. Can't wait to come back and try everything else I couldn't during my first visit!!! 12/10 recommend for your next dinner out (or even take out!!!). The service was also amazing. I visited Lazy Sister in Norwalk with my family on Tuesday, January 6. I had been before and enjoyed it, but this was my family's first visit--and they were very impressed. The space is sophisticated, modern, and spotless, with perfect lighting, great music volume, and charming candlelight at the table. We were warmly welcomed by JC , the manager, who walked us to our table and made us feel genuinely at home. Our server, Megan, was fantastic--knowledgeable, cheerful, and attentive without ever making us feel rushed. She checked for allergies, answered questions, and kept everything flowing seamlessly. Drinks were excellent, and the appetizers were beautifully presented with spot-on flavors. The food runners were equally warm and welcoming, and waters were refilled without us ever needing to ask. Even though the restaurant was busy, service never felt delayed--we honestly felt like we had the place to ourselves. Kudos to the bar btw; the Violet Hour cocktail (my sister loved it), a Cabernet Sauvignon my very picky father genuinely enjoyed, and the non-alcoholic Chili Crisp Cooler, which my mother thought was great. Entrées arrived hot and beautifully plated, and my parents--who dine out often and are very selective--were extremely impressed. The night ended perfectly with the homemade fortune cookie ice cream, a thoughtful and memorable touch. Overall, this was an outstanding experience. All staff was so pleasant, very welcoming that mad be very happy, I knew it would be a good time. They had special cocktails for autumn of course I tried two out of 4 lol! I went with the Kyoto cream and bee lavish ..... Kyoto cream for the win, so banging!!! I think the Greek yogurt in it makes it bomb! For apps we went with the spring rolls and veggie dumplings both delish, most importantly fresh! For our entree we ordered the general tso's chicken and veggie fried rice both just what I needed to get the job done, again delish! A very simple dish but yet so good! Food was quick to come out and delicious. We had the salt and pepper shrimp, soup dumplings, beef wrapped scallion pancakes and the dry pot style beef. All were awesome! We sat at the bar and the bartender, Jonathan, was friendly and on top of things- quick with fresh drinks, suggestions and the occasional joke! Oh- and I can't forget the "Do you like soft serve?" inquiry. Moments later, he brought us a homemade Fortune cookie soft serve- spectacular! A little hint of almond, orange on a vanilla-y base. Our server was great and took really good care of us. Unfortunately, we did run into a few issues during our visit. One of my friends found a hair on their plate, but the team handled it quickly and brought out a new dish. The table caddy was also stocked with utensils that still had sauce on them -- either the busser put them back thinking they were clean, or a previous customer returned used utensils. The food itself was good, but the cleanliness concerns made the experience feel a bit unpleasant. With some improvements in this area, it could've been a great experience for us :( read more

'Lazy Sister' single-handedly soothed my pangs of longing for New York Szechuan as a former Brooklyn Belle residing in CT! The staff is absolutely impeccable-- ultra personable, professional, appreciative towards regulars and ensures all guests leave with a positive experience... whether you are a walk in, guest with a reservation or just nabbing a to-go order on a rainy day. The chef (incredible female warrior energy) is always gracious and really takes the time to connect with dining patrons. Kitchen staff is on point and never misses a beat on even the smallest requests (I love the cabbage lightly sautéed, extra spicy and they always oblige/never over cook). Management, waitstaff and bartenders are always ultra friendly, generous and provide the best menu suggestions (Mai Tai, double boiled fish, cabbage, spare ribs!). It is very rare that I entrust someone to take the reins with ordering for me. Here-- recommendations are always on point and I'm thrilled that this little gem is a stone's throw away from home! Everything tasted great my favorite was the soup dumplings they were a little smaller than most other places. I got the shrimp and walnuts as my entrée. The shrimp are huge, which was a plus. We then ordered the chicken dry hot pot style stir fry, which was very flavorful and yummy. We had to finish it off with their fortune cookie soft serve which was a unique and yummy desert option. I have only one complaint and that's the slamming front door - now that it's out of the way we can move on to the good stuff! From the moment we walked in, there's this vibe and the aroma of a good time. The bar looked so inviting but my husband insisted we needed a table since we were determined to order everything on the menu - we kind of did ... The cocktails we started with - so unique, so tasty / 3 kingdoms Hemingway & 5 spice old fashioned. Now to the apps: Beef in scallion pancake - wowza and gone in 60 seconds Dumplings - like someone's grandma made them, so lovely Soup dumplings - no words because I burned my mouth as I have no patience and it was worth it Wonton soup - hubs liked that it had a little kick Peking duck buns - ok so they looked unimpressive and a little skimpy, it was actually the perfect bite and the amount of duck and flavor was just delightful Here we go with the entree round - MUST GET THE CABBAGE it was soooo freaking good and we are not even cabbage people and those Shanghai noodles were addictive - if I wasn't so full I'm sure I would have kept shoveling the at bowl down my gullet! The Lazy Kitty cocktail was cute but too tart - too much lime juice maybe? But if that's your thing it's tasty and a big drink! Finally the fortune cookie ice cream which saved me from the stupid chili in the cabbage that I decided to bite like an idiot - thankfully the refreshing milkiness calmed that all down. My experience today was really ridiculous ; and I have a lot going on in life so I didn't feel the need to lose my cool on a Thursday in a random restaurant ; but my order was late, and kept me waiting 30 minutes. Not once did the hostess asked me if I wanted somewhere to sit and wait, considering the restaurant was empty ; left me standing at the hostess desk like a dope. As I said, today was a difficult day for me so I wasn't looking to pick a bone with anyone, but this just made me not really want to take out from here again because it was really rude. Considering I tipped $20 for takeout - and I wasn't offered a place to sit and wait at the empty bar ... then when I got home, some of the food was extremely ice cold - so what's the deal? I totally understand, if you don't have an open kitchen, until five, but their hours say day. Idk. Left me with. Bad vibe - also I felt like the restaurant staff were treated with disrespect by the hostess because there was nobody in there, and they were left to clean tables and also reassure me that my food was coming out while she sat there on her laptop. The hostess wasn't particularly very friendly or welcoming which is odd given she's the hostess. We got 3 appetizers & 2 drinks which came out to over $90 (including the tip) which seemed a bit overpriced for the quality and quantity of what we got. The food was just ok (we got the chicken lettuce wraps $14, ribs $14, and duck buns $16). Nothing to write home about but not bad. The drinks were good, $14 each which is expected. We came during the day, so maybe the ambiance at night would make it worth another trip here. Very cute inside though - love the aesthetic of the place.
