I've been a Trouper for the past four years, ever since moving to Connecticut, and it's truly a special place. With gay bars rapidly disappearing across America, Troupe stands out as a vibrant hub in the Fairfield County LGBTQ+ scene. The owners pour their heart and soul into every aspect of the bar including the programming, music, and atmosphere, and it really shows. The bartenders are warm, welcoming, and genuinely seem to love what they do. From drag shows and burlesque performances to seasonal drink specials, themed parties, and go-go shows, there's always something happening. Troupe quickly became my go-to spot after discovering it one week into living in CT and I'm so grateful for its existence. Huge shoutout to Casey and Nicholas for the love and tireless work they put into making Troupe429 what it is today--and of course to Johnny, who mixes the meanest elderflower gin and tonic in town. read more

My fiancée (soon to be wife) and I absolutely love this bar. We feel not only safe but loved there as a lesbian couple! We make a point to go to Troupe every time we are in town. We are from Boston. It is basically the LGBTQ+ Cheers! It feels like home but the Queer flair we love. Don't get me started on how amazing every night is whether it is a Drag Show, Lesbian Night or Karaoke! This truly is life! read more

Performers are fantastic! Costumes! Dancing! Fun! Love them all and will be back for the next drag brunch!! I'm a fan for life!

Love Casey the bartender and loved Sunday trivia! Fun atmosphere and super kind staff.

Man it's been a hot minute since I've been here but damn it's good to be back. The music is really fantastic here every time I've been here and there's usually fantastic movies playing. The bartenders are super friendly and also happy to make you a tea if that's your drink of choice. Usually gets popping right around 10/10:30pm cause queers come out late and stay out late (generally speaking) read more

went because my experience with LGBTQ bars has been inclusive. This was the opposite. I was ridiculed. Stolen from. And not one person stepped in. The people who frequent and work here are cruel. And I feel sorry for them. Don't go. It's not worth it. It was worse than any finance bro bar - the people were truly terrible. I hope other people looking to fit in find a better spot. Do better. The bartenders and guests were awful (and not attractive) DO BETTER read more

Came for a karaoke night and it was great. Singers of all types and nobody feels like they shouldn't sing. Towards the end of the night it got invaded by a rather large straight crowd and it got a little less comfortable there. Not the fault of the bar, but I wish they would give us our spaces sometimes. Bartender was great and attentive. Karaoke DJ was decent. Overall I wish I lived in the area so I could visit more often. read more

Troupe's my go-to spot for a drink or night out with friends -- especially if Drag Race is on! Just the most welcoming, fun environment. Truly inclusive and somewhere I always feel safe and taken care of by the staff. Speaking of the staff: they are so professional and lovely across the board! We're lucky to have this establishment in southwestern CT. I'd recommend it to anyone (except bigots)! read more

Best place ever. So welcoming and so loving. We had an amazingggggg time. I recommend all day every day

Just beyond talented, welcoming, fabulous atmosphere!! I can't wait to go back! The burlesque was AMAZING!!!

One of my absolute favorite spots in CT. The most fantastic and welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and awesome nightly events! Every night I've come to grab a drink, I've gained at least three brand new friends. If you're LGBTQ+ in Fairfield County, you'll find a home at Troupe! (Also, their cocktails are AMAZING- try the Log Cabin Kiki and thank me later!) read more

I've loved Troupe429 since I first started coming here a year ago. I grew up in this area, and always hoped for a positive space to enjoy on a night out. After living in Seattle for two years, I was thrilled to hear upon returning home that a bar like this had sprung up. Since returning to the neighborhood, my husband and I have built a family of 15 people, most of whom we met at Troupe429. They have become our chosen family, and we owe it to the unbeatable cast that makes Troupe run so well. Casey and Nicholas are incredible owners, and love their patrons as family and community members. Hazel Berry and Robin Fierce are phenomenal local queens that turn most nights into a party, and the rotating queens on other nights like Sienna Rose bring even more life with them. Johnny, Dante, and all of the other bartenders are great bartenders and better friends. Ivy is a wonderful musician, and the events at Troupe that she is a part of (as well as the ones that she isn't) are always fun. I look forward to going to Troupe every chance I get, and can't wait to see it enjoy many years of success! read more

I love this place. When I first moved from New York City to Connecticut, one of my biggest concerns was that I wouldn't be able to identify with anyone in the area. When I discovered Troupe429, I finally felt like I had a place I could go to where I could be myself. As soon as I walked in the owners, the bartenders, and the drag queens were extremely welcoming, which is something I could never say about any bar I've been to in the city. It feels really inclusive (note that it's an LGBTQ bar, not a gay bar) and everyone always seems to be having a good time. Bartenders are attentive, there's ample seating, it's actually very clean (I hate that smell of lingering alcohol that most bars have) and there's an ample number of gender neutral restrooms. I've actually never had an issue finding parking around the area, which I know a few places mentioned, but I haven't been on a really busy night, either. read more

This is one of the few places in the area I've been able to go and feel safe and welcome and found community. I've never once had a bad experience and recommend it to any queer folks I meet. So hard to find a place free of bigotry in CT. Grateful for the place!!! read more

This is a very special place, unlike any gay bar you've seen before. It's a clean, welcoming environment, with a long bar. This is the future of gay bars and I'm so glad that it has opened in downtown Norwalk. read more

by far the sweetest most outgoing and welcoming employees at any bar ive ever been to, im usually a shy and awkward person but talking to the staff here felt like talking to friends u have had ur entire life which is rare for me. great atmosphere and drinks as well. Sanctuary. The only word or emotion I can come up with. Troupe gives a home to hundreds of people, whether it be a night or regularly. Aside from the staff being attentive, caring and thoughtful the owner go above and beyond any expectation. This place gives you a home. It's like cheers but gayer, more welcoming to outsiders and tons of events. I couldn't come up with a negative thing to say about the bar, I do however have an issue with people attacking people and small businesses. I have never seen or heard of anything negative about this place and anything said otherwise is more than likely not true. Go in one night and find out for yourself, you'll feel more comfortable and welcome than any other establishment you've been to. read more

Such a cute spot! Im not from the area but found this spot on Instagram. The drag show was 10/10 and the staff is super friendly. I even saw one of the owners running around helping clean up which is always a good sign they care. read more

I love the vibe here! The decor, the music, the drinks and the owners and staff are all awesome to be around! They have creative cocktails, probably every flavor Smirnoff you can imagine & they know how to create am inviting inclusive atmosphere. They have fun treats for sale to enjoy with your cocktails (pirates bootie, Kraft mac n cheese, fruit roll ups, rice krispie treats and more ), games and an awesome vinyl collection to peruse through with great movie visuals on their screens in the backgrounds. Whether you're of the LGBTQ+ community or a friend of, they've created an inclusive safe haven for all to enjoy with excellent measures taken for our well being during these times! Don't miss out on visiting this spot & great people! Grab some cocktails & bar treats and if you're hungry for food you can order in some arepas from the Peruvian restaurant conveniently located across the way! This is by far one of the most Unique LGBTQ bars I have Visited. Located in Center Norwalk CT. This has become and will become the home for the LGBTQ community in the southern coastal region of Connecticut. Creative Decor, cleanliness and the incredibly friendly staff, sets this place apart from so many other LGBTQ bars. Open 7 days a week the owners have come up with some great ways to spend every night! Great liquor, wine and beer selections to make sure you have your drink of choice at a reasonable cost! Certainly a must go destination! read more

This is EXACTLY what Norwalk needed for it's nightlife scene! I'm so happy that Fairfield County finally has another LGBTQ Bar/ performance space, especially in such an amazing neighborhood. I love having a space to go to where I feel safe, comfertable, and most importantly, affirmed. The team that opened the bar put so much care into every single detail and it truly shows. Whether or not you identify as LGBTQ+ I would definitely check this spot out. read more

My two friends and I went last Sunday night. I was able to get a blue moon on tap and we played a game of bingo! It was low-key (maybe because it was a Sunday night during a pandemic) and we sat at a table by the bar and talked without having to shout to hear each other. Also the bartender was really cool! read more

Troupe is a great space for the community to socialize. There is always something going on throughout the week. I have attended a GOT viewing party and of course, Drag Race too. Great bartenders in a clean and inviting venue. Looking forward to my next cocktail! read more

I went to Troupe 429 last Saturday night (June 11, 2022) at about 10 PM with four guests. There was a drag show in progress, which I believe was a Pride benefit. We were stopped at the door and told there was 40.00 admission charge. The part of the drag show we was less than impressive, but wasn't expecting much. High prices for drinks on top of the cover is not that unusual in gay bars, at least in my experience. But the really annoying thing was that a very young, cute friend of mine followed me by about a half an hour later and was charged 20.00 admission. Discrimination against "old" people at a venue that is supposedly supporting "PRIDE" is disgusting. read more

Love this place! What a beautiful space. The attention to detail is awesome. And the music is spot on. The owners are sweethearts. Can't say enough good things. read more

I've been frequenting Troupe429 since March, and every single night out that I've spent there has been one worth remembering. From the owners, to the bartenders, to the patrons, the mood is always welcoming and celebratory. Not to mention, they throw some amazing dance parties. I love this spot, it gives me a place where I feel 100% comfortable being myself, with no fear of judgment. read more

The entire staff was really friendly but I was extremely unhappy to see political signs behind the bar. I think places like this should be an escape and have no ties or affiliation to politics whatever their views may be. Definitely will not be back going forward. read more

Despite an extremist minority trying to destroy this magical place, its community will rise up and show you what unity truly means. I have supported Troupe 429 since its opening and every time I visit, I feel so welcome and jubilant. The staff is enthusiastic, quick to serve and helpful when looking for a new drink or info about upcoming events. The entertainment is A+ quality and the environment is so warm. What a gorgeous, clean bar too! You really don't have to be a member of the LGBT+ community to belong at Troupe 429 but for those that are, it's a sanctuary. Thank you to everyone at Troupe 429 for creating such a beautiful escape!!! read more

This place is a true gem, and I'm so thankful that they are right here in Norwalk! The owners put so much effort and love into every detail, and their commitment to inclusiveness is obvious. They always have an event going on and there's truly something for everyone. Thanks for everything you do to make this a fun and welcoming space for the community! We appreciate you! read more

A very welcoming environment, and the owners are always very nice and supportive of their community and customers. Troupe 429 is a beautiful bar and performance space in the quaint town of Norwalk, CT.
