I came here to support the girl who sings in our band who doesn't think she's very good but is in fact extremely talented . I don't even know how to accurately describe this place . It's been around forever .If the Star Wars cantina had singers this would be the place . I saw people of every size , shape , gender , and color get up on that stage . And I heard every possible genre of music . My original thought was maybe some of those people should not be up onstage . A few of the songs were kinda brutal . But hell , they tried !! I didn't get up there ! As Clint Eastwood would say ,"A mans got to know his limitations ." And there were some really talented people there as well. And everyone rooted for one another . Everyone was supportive and polite . The bar tenders were great it was full but not crowded and it actually was a cool vibe . Would I go back ? Maybe But that's just me . I flat out can't sing . Bartender was Great!! However the schmuck running the kareoke was rude and very disrespectful!! I signed up to sing as soon as I got there..waited at least 1 hour and a half hour and had to keep going up to him to see why he wasn't calling my name? I and 4 other people went here for the lounge's Friday Karaoke Night. The set up was nice and there were a lot of song options; but even though there were a good number of people interested in singing, 4-5 people who were working went up and sang before a lot of patrons. I would expect employees to go up and sing if there was a lull and they wanted to get people inspired. They also didn't seem to go in order of submissions, even though we followed the 1 submission at a time rule. Additionally, service at the bar felt really slow. I would not recommend. read more

I have been looking for a place on LI to do live Karokee that didn't require me to go to a typical bar set up. I finally found it at Lizard Lounge. As other reviews have said, the staff is very welcoming and there was no pressure for me to drink. In a world these days where businesses can nickel and dime you, this is a place where you can enjoy the company of everybody there. You can experience old school (looking up the songs in books) and new school (using tech to play newer songs that are not in the books) karaoke vibes. You can also play some video games or watch TV while you wait around for your turn to sing as an option as well. I didn't get to try food there but I believe they make pizza's so I will be trying that next time I go, which will be soon. Was passing through town and was in the mood to sing some karaoke. My friend & I found this place and we put our names in to sing. We are both professional singers that were on tour. Waited several HOURS until my friend's name was finally called, but mine was sadly never called! People started singing a second and third time that had already sung, and my name was never called. I eventually gave up and just left without singing. Still sad about it to this day. And I would have brought the house down! Haha, other than that, it was a fun place! Visit Date: February 4, 2022 Despite being all over the place for karaoke I had yet to stop by Lizard Lounge. Bohemia is a little farther from me but I'm a maniac and I drive a lot. Unfortunately my friend Dave's karaoke show on Thursdays got cancelled because the bar temporarily lost their liquor license so I'm bouncing around to different karaoke spots when my son is with his dad on Thursday nights. I started the night at La Foccacia in Levittown and than decided to come by and see what Lizard Lounge was all about. They're known for karaoke they have it going on Wednesday to Saturday currently. I think it used to be every night but since covid hit I think they cut back on karaoke nights. The owner of the bar Jay is the one who hosts karaoke. There is a stage set up so you can definitely feel like you might be performing at a concert and when you sing or try to sing you have the option of going on stage or singing from the bar, I did both options. Jay is behind the bar taking singer sign ups, working the in house karaoke machine and serving drinks. I don't drink so I just got an orange juice and seltzer and some water. If you love karaoke, then this is the place for you. They have almost every song out there. The Soundsystem is great. They have a stage area for you to sing on or if you prefer they allow you to sing at your own table or standing up anywhere in the bar. The music level is great and not overwhelming . The staff are very very friendly. They have monitors throughout the entire bar, you can follow the lyrics on them or even watch the performer on the stage on some of the monitors. Video games are placed along the bar for free play. Drink specials run throughout the night. If you are hungry, there are over 12 varieties of bar pizza available that I found to be quite good. I recommend checking this place out for sure. The are opened on Wednesday-Saturday and Karaoke starts at 8:00pm. I deeply enjoy this place! My two friends and I went out last night to get our karaoke on, and I'm so glad we did. Things to know as an avid karaoke fan:'karaoke sound system is excellent, even if the song isn't in the book they probably have it, and you can sing on the stage or from your seat, whatever makes you comfortable. Things to know about the beverages: I'm not a heavy drinker, but near as I can tell, the drinks were nice and strong and they were reasonably priced, coming in between like $6 and $12 for good liquor. The staff was fantastic. I never waited for a drink, they gassed up the singers, they were so friendly, fantastic humans. The crowd was a serious mix. Anywhere from late 20s to 60s, music genres of all types, but in general, good folks. If that's the standard crew, both behind the bar and behind the mic, I'd be happy to go back. read more

If I could give this spot a negative star, I would. I went to this bar with my sister and her boyfriend. The first bartender was very nice, I didn't get a chance to get his name. But this other guy who seemed to be a manager or in charge was very rude. He asked my sisters boyfriend how was he paying. He told the guy he wasn't done wt the bill, we wanted another round of shits. He insisted that even though we were paying cash, that my sisters bf had to give him his debit card w/ ID and wouldn't give us another round until we did. When I asked him, politely about it, he ignored me and walked away. I've never been to any establishment & been treated that way. We needed up not staying & ruined our mood. Ohh btw , we're black / African American and he wasn't .. so do what you will with that information. State of the art sound system...for karaoke.....okaaaaaaay. Nice big stage...for karaoke.....okaaaaay. All these fancy lights....well okay! Lizard Lounge is spacious, more long than square. The first area you come to is a sort of lobby separated by a purple cloth (doesn't look as bad as it sounds) from the main bar area. The DJ area is off to the left and slightly elevated. Following that is the performance (area) stage with tables and stools for audience, and finally a tiny lounge area just before the toilets at the back. The back door was also kept open on that beautiful yet rainy evening. Everyone was so super friendly. Immediately as I got to the door I was engulfed in a warmth of friendliness from strangers. Patrons, bartender, singers, everyone genuinely warm and how can you not have a great time in this sort of environment. If you're a professional karaoke stalker sorry I meant singer, you may not enjoy this venue only because EVERYONE and their mothers (hail out to the granny that did an excellent job as I was walking in), sing here. Everyone! So I don't imagine you having lots of opportunity to hug the mike. No sah, that list is long. On my departure a few hours later the DJ/Host was still going "aaaaand we have a first time singer tonight *insert name* come on up". I prefer spots where there's a break in between the 5 or 6 people doing their thing and the DJ rather than this American Idol auditions. But don't get me wrong, it was still very much fun filled.
