The service was OK. The only thing was that they didn't fill up our waters too often. the food is pretty good too I've had better sushi but it's close by and a great option if ur craving sushi. We got some apps too the calamari was quite chewy. Gyoza and chicken satay was tasty. Ambiance is what you make it open seating in a booth it was a nice time.

Mango Hawaii Roll and a freaking STAPLE.
Rebecca W.

We ordered tonight through DoorDash. While eating I felt something sharp, then pain. I spit everything out to find a STAPLE IN MY SUSHI. This would've really really hurt me and caused so many very scary issues if I swallowed it. Never again. I'm so angry.

"love boat" platter

I so wanted to love Koi. They had good reviews so I decided to take a break from my usual sushi spot and try something new. It was a mistake. I ordered online mainly because they offer 10% off and it was very easy. You go and pick up your food off of a table for a contactless pickup. Super some, easy and safe. That's the main reason I am granting this restaurant 2 stars. The food itself was terrible. We ordered gyoza, spicy tuna roll, tornado roll, love boat platter, and chicken katsu. Overall my main complaint is the food was very, very bland and the supposedly spicy rolls had zero spice. Like none. Additionally, the sashimi in the love boat was borderline frozen which was absolutely disgusting and went in the garbage. The breading on the chicken katsu was falling off and the "katsu sauce" was legit elementary school bbq sauce, which to be honest had me going back for more due to the nostalgia despite the fact that I was repulsed. Ultimately, I spent $95 on a meal that I threw a solid 33% of in the garbage. Will not be back. That's what I get for cheating on my regular place ehhh

2x Sex on the Beach 2x Empire Roll

I've been in the Sayville area for over a year, and I've yet to try Koi, until last night. I must have passed this on Main St hundreds of times since then. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in and saw how nice it was. From the outside, it looks a bit dated and not too inviting, but the inside was nice. I really hope for their sake they update the outside, as it would tremendously help the curb appeal and grab more peoples attention. We started off with drinks and Rock Shrimp Tempura. We really enjoyed the that app, it's was super fresh and the shrimp had a great texture. For dinner, we shared 2 Sex on the Beach and 2 Empire rolls. They were really good, and our waitress was super attentive. Water was refilled without asking, and refills on our drinks were asked as they were being finished. I really do hope they look to update the outside, I truly believe it would do a lot for their business.

House Salad $3 (Not Included in Lunch Specials but worth the extra). Fresh Lettuce & Veggies and delicious house made dressing

First Time *Lunch Review: Passing by this Restaurant more times than I can count, I never thought much about the simple outer appearance. Stepping inside was a breath of fresh air. The Restaurant was incredibly clean and surprisingly spacious. The service was quick & very friendly. The Food was delish. Located in the heart of Sayville, parking might be tricky. If street parking isn't available you'll need to find parking behind the stores on either side of Main St. The Lunch Prices were phenomenal. The portions were great for lunch. The Service was spectacular. Every time I needed, refills were provided, even without request. If your in a hurry or want to have a long relaxing lunch, this restaurant will accommodate you. The Food was Delish! Best Sushi in the surrounding area for sure. Everything was incredibly fresh. I noticed they offer so many creative specials unique to the area, I'm intrigued to try a few on my next visit. I will be reviewing what I tried: -Steak Teriyaki Bento Box: Some of the tastiest Teriyaki Sauce I've ever had. Came with Miso Soup, Steak (7 decent sized slices), a tiny portion of Veggies, 1 Scoop of Rice, 4 Pieces of California Roll & 3 Shumai. The Steak was juicy. Loved the Shumai and the Miso Soup was marvelous. I also ordered a house salad for an additional $3 and was happy with the freshness of the lettuce and the house made dressing on top. I would definitely order this dish again. 5 out of 5 Stars -Lunch Roll Special (2 Orders of Spicy Tuna Rolls, 1 Order of Shrimp Tempura Rolls): $13 for 17 pieces of Sushi is a great deal. I thought the freshness of the fish makes Koi a #1 Local Sushi spot for sure. 5 out of 5 stars Overall I'm so happy with my first visit to Koi. Come for lunch if your in the mood for a great deal. I'll be trying dinner next!

Tofu pad Thai

This was my 2nd time visiting Koi. Both trips were enjoyed. The fish seems fresh and the menu has decent offerings. There are choices for those not into sushi. Some Chinese and Thai options. We tried a rib special that I was sure I would not enjoy. It was very very good. Meat fell right off the bone. Delicious sauce that was not overpowering. They should put those ribs on the menu. Everything else was great. Tried a Beaty and the Beast roll. Few pieces of sushi and a peppered tuna roll. My only complaint on both trips has been with their drinks. I'd skip the cocktail menu, go for a beer.

I don't really have anything negative to say about this place. I ordered from DoorDash and picked it up both times. They gives nice big pieces of sushi. They have it on a table with your name on it to pick up. Also, the wasabi isn't as potent as other restaurants

Mai Tais for two !

Wow, good sushi!!!! This place was super cute. First time I had ever been. We were looking for sushi but wanted something different than the places we usually go to. It looks like an old diner on Main Street which is cool because it adds a twist to the classic sushi place. Such a warm welcoming, atleast the waitress we had. She was super nice and sat us right away and told us about the specials on food and drinks. We got the Mai Tais and they were super good. I was here on a date, and it was def a good spot to go to for sushi. There was music which added a little fun but it was also was a good environment to chat and have a nice dinner. Ok now on to the food.... YUM!!!! I got the Panhandler and it was delicious. Nice big roll that def filled me up. I tend to go more with cooked rolls when I eat sushi, so I can't speak on the rest of the menu but I did see a plate of sashimi pass by our table and it looked very nice. The presentation was the best part, so cute !!!! Had flowers and designs on the plate... Made it fun when it arrived.... Very appetizing and enjoyable to eat. I would def come back to this place. It was a little pricy, but I feel like you get what you pay for when it comes to sushi and I could definitely taste the difference between this and an "all you can eat" type of menu. Def recommend!

Sex on the Beach and Air Force One

This was our first time trying Koi. We came on the recommendation of Newsday and we are fairly new to this particular area. They have ample parking behind the building which is a plus and the restaurant itself is very small but clean. It's a converted diner so that's how it's set up inside - with a huge bar spanning the length of the restaurant and booths around the perimeter. We started off with a chicken satay that came with 4 pieces and a side of peanut sauce. The chicken was very lightly fried and was super tasty. The only downside to this dish is that the portion was a little small - we wanted more! Next we had 2 rolls - Sex on the Beach and Air Force One. These were great and tasted fresh. The pieces were cut much wider and bigger than other places I've been so it was a little hard to fit in our mouths. :/ Hubby thought the saki was smooth and delicious. Overall this place was great and we'll be back to try more. The prices are a little higher than normal but you get what you pay for.

Fairly new edition to the adorable town of Sayville.. perfectly located on Main Street where you will find many shops and food selections to meet your needs... saw koi while sitting across the street from Super Bowls... immediately I knew I wanted to head in there after to grab a bite and taste this new, cute sushi spot, ya know peep the scene.... The place is nice, not too big, booth style seating appropriate for parties 2-6 I'm sure they can accompany more though... we walked in and there was a pretty strong scent of fish in the air, common in most sushi spots but it just smelled rather strong... however, that was my only issue. The tasty bites we inhaled: salad, miso soup, shumai and tuna and salmon rolls on soy paper were very good. That seems like an easy enough order anyway but we did really enjoy our sushi.. peeped other plates as they were passing on by and they looked decent as well... The place wasn't like an amazing experience but they were very nice, the place was clean (besides the smell which I didn't even notice after sitting there for a few), and our food was served pretty quick. The quality of the fish was very good, I eat sushi a lot and the tuna and salmon were very good, fresh and cold. I would come back here when in the area.

Food here is fresh and delicious. We really enjoyed every bite don't let it fool you from the outside. The Rick shrimp was fantastic and all the special rolls where delicious.

The space is on the smaller side, sectioned off with one area for dining and the other for the dance floor/bar, which in a way I actually sort of preferred, helped to actually be able to hear each other better while eating dinner. There's also outdoor patio space in the rear to enjoy if the weather allows. Cocktail hour food was good and definitely would recommend their Italian options as the best choices (the gnocchi and stuffed shells in particular). The standard dinner was quite good, most of us ordered the Chateaubriand and it actually wasn't overcooked! Unfortunately for our vegetarian friends, the experience was a little far from appetizing. They were told ahead of time they would be accommodated, but the option that was provided was steamed, unseasoned, vegetables over white rice. They didn't bother eating it, considering how bland the plate was. It feels a bit misleading to say you offer a vegetarian option, when that option is as bare bones as it gets. I'd be worried about the options if the diet restrictions were any more serious than that. My significant other also wound up with a stain on her dress simply from sitting on the white vinyl chairs that they provided for the ceremony. Lastly, the practice green is right near where they host their outdoor ceremonies, but they don't restrict any access to using it while the ceremony is going on, which was a bit distracting as there were some golfers practicing their short game while our friends are saying their "I dos".

Well, waterfront restaurant, how can you resist. My wife decides to invite her sister to come. No comment for now. Read about Valet parking but not there tonight. Restaurant not very crowded, in fact no crowds at 5:30 but got a little better later. Ok let's eat. First and to my surprise it's Restaurant Week. Special three course meal for )46. Seems like a no brainer. I started with Lobster Bisque. I couldn't find any lobster and not much flavor. Mrs. E has their Calamari which was ok but she said wouldn't order again. Dinner... I had the rigatoni with wagu meat sauce. This was pretty good and I would definitely have it again. My wife had the braised pork shank which was meh. There was a side but hard to figure out what it was. I know I said no comment to the sister-in-law but she had the salmon. Said she liked it. Just a side note. I hate it when someone says " do you want to taste mine ". NO. If I wanted to taste that I would have ordered it. Now my big, no huge problem. We ordered coffee. Just plain regular coffee. Comes out with a small vase of creamer. The creamer was very chunky. That's right clearly bad. Almost cheese. I pointed it out to our waitress who acknowledged it but left it sitting there for about 5 minutes. A little disgusting. Eventually new coffee and creamer comes back. Oh the view. Well it was dark out so the view was non existent. Not the fault of the restaurant. Will I go back? Maybe, maybe not. I think not.

We were told they had a great bingo night and fantastic food and drinks. That proved to be an excellent recommendation. The Wayward is located in the heart of the quaint village of Sayville. It is a spacious establishment with a large bar, plenty of tables as well as booth seating . We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by the bartender Brian. He was friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the food and drink choices. He took the time to note our preferences within the dishes offered. It was apparent to us that Brian and the 2nd bartender Meg were extremely hard working, friendly and efficient. We started with a few drinks. Nothing fancy. I had a rum & coke and my wife went with Prosecco. Both were good. For dinner I went with gnocchi with chicken sausage in a pink cream sauce Absolutely fantastic! The kicker was the large dollop of fresh mozzarella on top. My wife chose the Chicken Milanese with roasted potatoes . She noted that the chicken was pan seared, breaded , moist and delicious. She opted to get it without the tomatoes and onions that accompany it. The potatoes were amazing. (I snagged a few so I can confirm this!) Deliciously seasoned, crispy on the outside moist and creamy on the inside. The bingo was also great! Chris was a great host. The prizes were great , although we didn't win anything. All in all a great night! A pleasant change of pace . We fully recommend The Wayward whether it for bingo night or dinner and drinks . Fantastic atmosphere, great food, great service.

Not a lot of parking out front, but there is a rear entrance you can use that has a much bigger parking lot for your ease. Service was decent, we got forgotten about once right off the bat, but once we got things straightened out staff were helpful, kind, and attentive. Starting off with drinks, I had tried their gingerbread old fashioned and their boozy coquito. The old fashioned was nothing special, but I did enjoy the little gingerbread man it came with. The coquito on the other hand was very tasty, albeit a little bit boozier than I expected, but I don't often mind a heavy pour. Next up for food, starting with apps, I tried the pretzel which comes with a cheese sauce and mustard on the side. Just as good as you'll find it at any bar serving it up these days. For entrees, I had their signature burger and tried a bite of my girlfriend's steak sandwich, and she definitely came out the winner. Burger was good, but nothing that made it standout much from other good smash burgers. The steak sandwich though was cooked well and didn't all just pull out on the first bite, which to me is the key indicator of a good steak sandwich! Was overall a nice dinner and I'd certainly like to comeback and try more of the menu and I've often been tempted to stop by for their bingo nights, they always seem to have awesome prizes.
