On my third try once again, I encountered a malaise and a dated version of cocktail bars that I had seen come and go, but here it is still holding on, but more importantly, the beginning of it I requested a very, very simple drink, and Negroni on a Saturday on the cusp of the beginning of a busy night however, there weren't that many patrons but the seating at the bar was filled. No one sat no one Pushing six top table. I requested the drink. My request was forgotten of from the person in the bartender who was very good at the idea of something that is incredibly dated called flare, including his apron that had all the pins in all the actions and all the flips and everything. He eventually made my cocktail, but when I handed him cash, I was told we don't have enough to break this, so I'll just take your full money which, if I had gone the greatest of service I would've shrugged and said no problem but here lies the problem. The drink is always gonna be the same the service makes it better and this was not that case. read more

After getting rude service nearby, we stumbled upon this jem. Cute cozy spot with a speakeasy type of feel. We found a nice spot near the bar to accommodate our party of 5 on a Friday night. It was steady for a small spot and only two bartenders, but we were acknowledged in an appropriate amount of time. The Aviation was good, definitely a gin lovers drink and the Bee's Knees was a perfect mixture of sweet and sour. We then tried all three of the Dessert cocktails. All were made perfectly, but the Nutty Monkey really took the show. Literally tastes like a Banana Split... dangerous. The only downfall for me was the service was a little slower than I'd expect. I understand it was a Friday night but one of the bartenders kept referring to what seemed like the drink recipe guide, which of course slowed them down a bit more. read more

Hard to find, worth the search! Tucked in on Donnelly Walk, JB Perceval's is the cocktail spot to find. Great cocktails, in a great venue with a great staff. Perfect combination. Humphrey Bogart greets you as you enter this throwback to comfort and great drinks. Small bites are available and they are very good too. What a contrast to the more casual, college crowd bars and restaurants nearby. J.B.'s is an adult oasis of flavor infused drinks served in great glassware by attentive folks in a great spot. Ran into two different friends here, both local and both said, "It's a great bar! We come here all the time." And can totally see why: great drinks and yummy small bite plates. Friendly staff. Cool vibe kind of place. We called in advance to see about a reservation bc one person in our group is on crutches. They were very happy to help us. Nice! Our group tried both seasonal specials (Mr Fig, pear drink (forget name), house specialties (old fashioned, something with curaçao, smoke house) and a request for a hot toddy which they gladly provided. All were outstanding. We all loved the glassware. We tried the charcuterie and anti pasta boards, hummus, and pretzels. Boards and hummus were excellent. The pretzels were hard pretzels with cayenne pepper - considering how excellent everything else was, these didn't hold up in comparison. We had a fun night! read more

Why am I just finding out about this place?? Hidden in the little alley between Archie Moore's and Playa bowl, this tiny cocktail bar is a very welcome discover. The ambiance is darker, speakeasy like. It's not very big; I would estimate no more than 20 people could fit in there comfortably, which is perfect for this setting. Bartenders were very skilled and took care in crafting the cocktails. My amaretto sour was fantastic, and my wife liked the gin fizz a lot. Will definitely be back! read more

Nice succulent bar in the heart of Fairfield. It sort of smelled like a nice perfume or cologne when we walked - not strong, but pleasant. It is lounge-style seating with bar seating as well. Their bar service was efficient too! I enjoy The Billionaire cocktail just days after Christmas 2022. Had a nice quite and relaxed time enjoy a drink with my best friend. Great little hole in the wall cocktail bar! They have a selection of seasonal drinks, but it's a fully stocked bar so you can order pretty much anything. We got a few little bites to eat - meat and cheese platter and the hummus - both were delicious. I initially got the Spicy Passionfruit Mule, which is actually pretty spicy. I tried to order the drink without the spicy vodka in it, but they ended up just giving me a regular Mule, which was good, I was just hoping for the Passionfruit liqueur. Only downside is there's always a customer seeming to look for problems, guess it comes with the area. If you're looking for quick drinks it's not the spot, it's craft so things take a minute. But well worth the wait, only spot I've gone to and gotten a proper last word. Big fan of the no tolerance, only spot ik of where bartenders don't tolerate negative behavior or poor attitude. However, we've been three times and were never greeted, have felt like the bartender was doing us a favor by making a drink, and generally unfriendly service. Wow - so disappointing Service was horrible I jumped up right after ordering a drink to change my choice and was basically told "too bad" I'm already making this even though the bartender was making the same drink in a minute. No napkins, no coasters, AND THEN, they charged us for an extra drink and "couldn't credit it". Seriously? All around terrible service. Don't bother if you're looking for a place to grab a cocktail. Discovered this cool place after dinner on a Wednesday night with a friend. There is no place around the area that has the speakeasy vibe like this cocktail lounge. As a craft cocktail enthusiast, I can say they have a fantastic selection of liquors to craft anything you can imagine. This is only my second review of any kind ever. 2nd time here. Good vibe, trying a tad bit too hard. Good not great cocktails. But a really cool after dinner destination sort of feel to it. Diverse, fun clientele. The #1 problem is the lead bartender. Both times he's got an attitude problem. Dark hair, beard. Tonight our group of 5 left and accidentally left our credit card at the bar. He was swearing at our group outside the entrance "hey, you're effing skipping out on your tab!?!" Embarrassed we immediately went back in and of course they had our credit card and when that became clear he said we owed him an apology. Seriously?! Guy is a jackass. A simple "hey, did you guys pay your tab" or "did you guys forget to close out your tab" would have been far more professional. If he was in his early 20s maybe I'd be sympathetic. But this guy's a seasoned 30s or 40s. Fairfield restaurant/bar scene is too competitive to tolerate this sort of nonsense. Place could carve a nice niche for itself as it's a little differentiated but not with this approach to customer service. Not returning until he's gone and telling everyone I know. read more
