Love can be a funny thing…read more Before recently, I had never even heard of this place. However, what brought me here comes from a name I do recognize: Jillin It. These are matchmaker events hosted by Jill, and I know of some neat love stories that came from her events. I had actually been meaning to go to another Jillin It Event for some time, but for various it just never quite aligned. Example, I might have gone to Elicit Brewery over in Black Rock for the Valentine's Day event less than three months back, but I was in the height of recovering from H Pylori. Tonight though, I was feeling much better and I've trusted Jill's services enough for a while that I decided to go to this one. Yes, I am a hopeless single, but I'm a hopeless single that enjoys going to meet new people every now and then! We were given a ticket voucher for a drink at the bar as a part of our ticket prices. There were plenty of options that sounded good, but in the end I went with the Evil Genius Trick or Treat Chocolate Pumpkin Porter. It's a very IPA kind of drink, but the notes of chocolate were subtle yet easily identifiable. I do appreciate the bartenders here for being patient with me while I took my sweet time being the world's worst drink decider. I also grabbed up a Build A Pie as I needed food to eat right this very second when I got in. It's the first time in a while that I had tomato sauce in my pizza, but everything else I got as a topping are quite a bit like what I would choose for pizza toppings. In order as it appeared on my receipt, I had fresh mozzarella, shredded mozzarella, ricotta, bacon, basil, garlic, and hot honey. Honestly, for those toppings, the price was actually pretty good! After a $6.33 tip, I paid $28.34 for the pizza. It was a thin crust, wood-fired, and definitely a crispy lil boo thang! It's not the best pizza I've ever had, but that's because compared to other pizzas I've had this has very stiff competition. This was a W pizza right here! It hit the spot when I needed it and it's something I would order again. The ambiance however is really where one should put the most weight in when having anything from a place like this. It's a primarily outdoor place, so it was a good thing I came here on a nice evening in May! I can't imagine this being popular in the winter months or when it's raining. But it's perfect for large groups, and certainly an event like tonight's! It's great for social outings. I'm gonna go ahead and give this a 4 based on my first impressions of the place. It's definitely a good spot with good service. Long as you don't mind the kids running around and come on a good weather day, you're in for a treat! Before I go, let's bring the subject back to love for a bit. It's not easy. In fact, love can be a very hard game to play. But it works in mysterious ways. While we enjoyed it, it wasn't the dish I'd come back for. Overall, we enjoyed our meal, and I'd certainly consider coming back for a special night out or drinks. Even so, the overall experience didn't quite feel like it justified the price point, so it wouldn't be at the top of my list for another visit.

We had the mussels, the spicy radiatore, and spaghetti with shrimp. The pasta was the ultimate comfort food- warm, rich, and felt nostalgic to what my own mother would make. That feeling was echoed throughout the restaurant's environment and ambiance. I felt like I was over someone's home for dinner. While the decor was simple, it was very familiar. The lighting leans towards low and intimate, which may be perfect for a date night, but I can definitely see that as a challenge for some especially when reading the menu. Overall, I just wasn't feeling the vibe and didn't stay for dessert, just wanted to head out. I will say though, Sean came over later and was very nice and professional, definitely stood out and gave manager vibes. It was founded by husband and wife restaurateurs Rick and Michele Torres. The location on Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport began life as the Acoustic Cafe in 1999. It was a popular spot for the local Bridgeport music scene for over 20 years. It closed down in May 2020 due to the pandemic. The Torres family (who also own Harborview Market) then decided to purchase it and reopened it as Park City Music Hall following a 9-month renovation. The venue features a performance stage, a full bar and a kitchen. The menu features burgers, sandwiches, salads, bowls, tacos, various bar bites, craft beer (on draught and in cans), and craft cocktails. In May 2023, the venue unveiled their backstage annex: a 2500-sq-ft space directly behind the stage that is intended for VIP, GA+, private events and rentals. Since opening, Park City Music Hall has hosted countless nationally touring bands, Grammy winners, living legends, and electrifying up-and-comers. I recently visited Park City Music Hall for the first time. I had a ticket to see the Connecticut debut performance by New Jersey-based Rush tribute band "A Farewell To Kings" (AF2K). I'm a HUGE Rush fan, so I was really excited to see AF2K perform. Park City is primarily a standing room venue, but there is a limited amount of seating which is first come, first served. I arrived a half hour before doors opened, I was the first one in at opening time and I was able to snag the closest table to the stage. From the kitchen, I enjoyed some "Philly Eggrolls" (shaved steak, peppers & onions, mozzarella) along with a "Smash Burger" (cheddar jack, caramelized onion, pickles, shredded lettuce, special sauce) and "Sweet Potato Fries". I washed everything down with a draught pour of New England Brewing's "Fuzzy Baby Ducks" IPA. That meal really hit the spot! By the time the band hit the stage, a good sized crowd had accumulated. The band was terrific!! They played so many classic Rush songs and pulled them off well. As a drummer myself, I really liked the drum kit which was reminiscent of Neil Peart's kit circa 1983. Overall, I had an excellent experience at Park City Music Hall! I would love to visit the venue again, and I would really like to see AF2K perform again!
