I'm not sure why it's taken so long for me to go here but I'll be a frequent visitor now! Very cool Mexican spot with a fun vibe. The inside of the restaurant is small (maybe 10-15 tables?) but outside they have a permanent covered patio situation (heated! That makes even more room. The food is excellent, with great serving sizes and fresh ingredients. The servers are the bartenders too so they are busy running around, but we still found the service to be good and available when needed. Can't recommend enough! read more

Wow!! We dined here tonight and had a great experience. It's no surprise Tequila Revolucion is recommended on yelp, by foodie content creators, and local word of mouth. Their complimentary chips and salsa (red and green tomatillo) were fantastic. They have an array of margaritas on their drink menu. I loved their special: enchiladas con pollo y mole, served with rice and beans and finely chopped fresh pico de Gallo. WOW. They have a waiter who is from a small town outside of Oaxaca. His mother and other ladies make the Mole paste for Mercado Benito Juarez, which is the main market. Tequila Revolucion gets the paste delivered via courier. Love this place. The food is amazing, you start off with freshly made tortillas and a green and red salsa. I ordered a chorizo quesadilla and loved it. What a fun and inviting indoor/outdoor restaurant! They have a few tables inside, a heated covered bar and patio seating and well as complete outdoor seating available during the summer. The staff was extremely energetic, attentive and kind throughout the entire meal even though it was busy for Valentine's Day. The margaritas were perfectly balanced and flavored. Had a good experience when we stopped by for dinner tonight! They have covered, heating outdoor seating and we were able to be seated immediately as there were a lot of tables open. I got a skinny margarita and guacamole for apps. For my entree, I ordered the Camarones Mojo - everything tasted delicious and came out promptly. Portion sizes were good too. Disrespectful, unwelcoming, and just plain rude! From the moment we walked in, we were growled at by the owner Ryan Gillespie. Our table of three was shocked when we found out he was the owner because he was running around in beach flip-flops which against health code protocols for restaurant employees. Sadly Ryan's attitude and demeanor was contagious because every other employee we encountered shared his spitefulness. We also had the unfortunate experience of Ryan bringing the food to our table, and he literally nearly threw it at us, without a word or smile. The food is sub-par. Had a lovely time on Wednesday evening. Nick was our server, and he was excited and knowledgeable about the specials for the evening, which they change daily. The corn soup special was absolutely fantastic, and the BBQ tacos were tasty and exciting. We got to try one shrimp taco special that we didn't order - and I wish I had that as my main!!! The sauce was incredible. I can't wait to go back to try more of their exciting specials. My husband and I had two house margs on the rocks each, and they were strong!! Definitely could have drank a couple more glasses of water, but I was enjoying the margs so much :) I didn't get a pic of inside, but it's adorable. The bar top is covered in beautiful Mexican style tiles, and there is a cool tequila mural on one wall. There is also a large covered, heated outdoor seating area. Honestly, did not really know this place was on the road because I would always be heading straight to Geronimos. However when my party was stuck on the waitlist for Geronimos, we saw this lovely restaurant and were so excited that there was no wait! We sat in their outdoor area which was very nice in the springtime. They were very accommodating with our bigger party and let us move the two picnic tables together. I ordered the 2 burritos and it was delicious! The spicy margarita was a bit too spicy for my liking, I would probably order a standard one the next time. To be fair it's not the entire wait staff but if you're unlucky enough to get this one waitress there she will ruin the entire experience. My family went there the other day and from jump this waitress was rude. She messed up our order and blamed it on the chef when really she forgot to put it in. She over talks everyone and changes your order, when you tell her that your order is wrong she says, "well I made it better so you should be happy." When that sounds like a nothing thing people with food allergies can be poisoned by her "making it better." Colorful, cozy and inviting, clean, bustling interior, with people enjoying their meals and actually conversing with one another! (Love that the only t.v. was by the bar and my view obscured!) Beautifully tiled bar. The margaritas were strong and oh so tasty, the perfect accompaniment to any of the meals and the starter of guacamole we gobbled up. We ordered one of the dinner specials, (I cannot recall the name) a Poblano pepper stuffed with ground pork and three cheeses, battered, fried and covered in sauce, served with beans and rice. Amazingly delicious and unique. Also ordered was the skirt steak--perfectly cooked on the grill, also served with beans and rice. We've been coming here for a few years. The food and drinks are really good. We went last night and as usual, food and drinks on point but the service is terrible. They are not attentive at all, we asked for specials and were told to use the QR code on the table, which is fine but how about letting us know that when we are seated. The plastic tablecloths are dirty and ripped, the place needs a good cleaning. It's a small restaurant so I don't understand why it's dirty. The bathroom is disgusting, there's no reason for it to be that dirty. Between the service, the filth and the lack of anyone giving a shit there has us all not wanting to go back. read more

We are very disappointed in last week's food order. The shredded beef is no longer available for the burritos..The pork was far from shredded; it was big hunks of tough outer pork meat. Also the steak burrito was tender but looked like the steak fajita had been thrown into a tortilla as there were big strips of onions and peppers. This place is just awesome. Their decor and seating is super cool and welcoming. The host was extremely kind and warm as well as the waiter. They have a cool little bar in the corner. As for the food, their huevos rancheros is just amazing with authentic Mexican chorizo as an option. Their rice and beans is carefully curated unlike many Mexican restaurants which slack off on that front. Most importantly, they have an insane corn soup which is just beautifully done. Food: Terrible. Actually, it's the worst I've had in Fairfield County in all of 8 years including the food poisoning incident at Pink Sumo circa 2012. Steak was burned (not crusted) on the outside and raw in the middle. We took it home to our dogs and decided not to feed it to them. Couldn't give to the hens either because it was raw. The steak fajitas were just as bad, worst I've had. Drinks: Margaritas from dispenser, nearly impossible to get a "scratch margarita". Don't bother, there is no bartender (literally), better off with the dispenser. If you are stuck here, the trick for a scratch marg is to order the spicy margarita, but beware, it is way too hot, I kind of liked it for novelty but it's not balanced, forgot sugar, not thought out - just sac-up and get the mystery movie drink. It's not bad if you're 18 and mix punch in a bathtub for your parties. Service: First guy seemed like he wanted to fight after I calmly but intently stated that I did not want a margarita from the [AMC movie] dispenser (I just inquired about a bartender making my drink). This volleyed back and forth 3 times. His replacement (his call) was a very attentive woman who cared about staying in business. Her great service could not withstand the dog food (actually not) and the dispenser drinks. Service 5-star, full tip. Final thought: the only way they can still be in business is perhaps a college crowd that chugs dispenser margaritas quickly before going to that concert hall that I'm too old to go to. I don't get it, but I haven't read any of the reviews to understand. Next time I will order the pepperoni, onion and cherry peppers on a crust at Colony. In a time where you see restaurants scraping by to survive I believe you need to cut them some slack; however, this is not that case. read more

Nested in the relatively quiet town of Fairfield, Tequila Revolucion brings a little exotic excitement booted with some great outdoor seating for those warm summer evenings. I'm not sure what Bridget D is talking about in her review because on my few visits here, I've had nothing but stellar food, drinks and service. Everyone was very friendly, attentive and the atmosphere is great. I cannot express how much I love eating and drinking outdoors and this spot's patio kicks serious butt. The music is nice too. Whether you want a full meal, or just a few snacks and drinks, this place fills a void and does so very well. It's by far the best Mexican spot in the area, bar none. The quality of the food and drinks is far superior to the ones I've experienced at other spots like Rio Bravo and Senor Salsa. My personal favorite thing to do there? Get myself and the misses a couple of margaritas ($10) or Palomas ($9) and some Queso Fondido ($8.95) - the chorizo on there is bangin'! If you're hungrier don't pass on their enchiladas ($16.95). The decor inside is very traditional but tastefully done. The staff does a good job of getting you settled in and taking your order. We started our order with a few sangrias, margaritas and Coronas. They were good but to be honest a bit expensive for the size of the drinks. Along with our drinks we had some chips and salsa to hold us over until our meals. I ordered the seafood quesadilla, my girlfriend had the Carme asada Yucateca and my son had the tacos platter. Simply stated the food was outrageous, so good and tasty. Every bite was full of flavor. My seafood quesadillas had crab, lobster and shrimp mixed with a cheese which just bonded everything together. The Carme asada was cooked at the correct temperature and was perfectly spicy. The tacos were delicious, they served 4 tacos-chorizo, steak, pork and chicken. All four were perfect with lots of flavor. Without a doubt we will be back to try other items! read more

For now, I'm going with four stars, but that can easily be changed to five. The space is small, but they do make good use of it. There seemed to be about 10 tables, about 5 - 6 seats at the bar and a few in front of the kitchen. When I went, about 6 pm on a Monday, almost every table was taken. I did find this to be a family friendly place as there were many parents and children. The bar area is small and I was there by myself, and I was lucky to get a spot. Their margaritas are fanatic. They are fresh, homemade and so good they are dangerous. I sampled both the mango and strawberry version. For food, I went with the queso. So simple, but packed with flavor. Everything tasted delicious and authentic and the chips and salsa were addicting. I will say, the prices are a little high, but in looking around at the entree dishes, you seemed to get a lot for your money.
