Cibus is a great addition to the Fairfield food scene. It's further down on Post Road but worth the extra steps! This is a yummy lunch spot that leaves you feeling ready to take on the second half of the day. Will have to return for happy hour and try the Mojito! Service is always wonderful and love their modern decor. Nice outdoor seating available! Our favs are the Empanadas, Pernil, and Mofongo. I've been driving by this establishment for months and finally got a chance to give it a try. I ordered their lunch special to go. I figured I'd try the food and if I liked it I'd visit for dinner. Unfortunately, the food was just okay. I ordered the yellow rice, beef stew and sweet plantains. The rice was not very flavorful, the beef stew had a weird consistency, and the plantains were just fine. The chicken soup had the most flavor and was the most satisfying. I tried to order online, but this location is not setup for online orders yet. The person who took the order on the phone was friendly. When I arrived she greeted me and I paid for the food. Inside the decor is modern and elegant. It has a full bar. There is only street parking. I probably will not return to dine in as the menu seems overpriced and that food was not the greatest. read more

I live nearby and have driven past this place countless times, which caught my eye. As a Colombian, I was eager to give it a try. Upon entering, I was greeted warmly and seated immediately in a cozy booth in the back. I loved the decor of the restaurant. My friend, who was with me, commented on a portrait on the wall that she thought was spectacular. Upon closer inspection, we realized it was actually a TV screen that looked like a painting due to its brushstroke effects. To start, we ordered an appetizer called Mofonguitos Trio ($16), which consisted of one shrimp, one pork, and one steak. We shared each one, and they were all equally delicious. For my main course, I chose the Churrasco ($24). Overall, I highly recommend this place. I haven't tried their cocktails yet, but I plan to on my next visit! read more

Three of us walked in for dinner and were seated right away. Decor is nice - uncluttered, lots of natural light, modern. Pina colada was good but maybe a little on the small side. We shared a couple of apps (mofonguitos were good and chicharonnes great) and three entrees (pernil, oxtail mofongo and fried red snapper). Pernil was our least favorite. Mofongo was good and the snapper was great (whole including bones so be aware). Sides of red beans and lentils were very nice. Flan for dessert was good too. We will be back at some point when in the mood for latin inspired food. read more

We were really excited to try this spot since we have visited their other location and have been really pleased with their offerings. The menu is essentially the same menu as their other location, I thought they would have some different offerings. I ordered the Pionono which was actually very good. For my entree I ended up with the Cubano which was my second choice, since the filet mignon was not available. My girlfriend ordered the morrongo with oxtails which she liked. Although the restaurant is nicely decorated the chairs were very uncomfortable. The service was a bit slow and the uncomfortable chairs made it seem longer. I wish them well but will most likely visit their other location the next time. read more

Discovered Ciibus tonight and happy we did. Great flavors whether you like spices or plain. My wife had tostones, white rice, and papa rellena all were great and not spicy. I had the ropa viella which was flavorful and delicious. The staff were great and the place was clean and well organized. We had the flan and tres leches for dessert. Awesome again. read more

Where do I even begin? As a Puerto Rican, I've never had the pleasure of meeting a PERNIL i could not EAT. It wasn't until I Cibus. This food is absolutely disgusting, and I wouldn't recommend it to my dog, let alone anyone else. They need to fire the chef and hire a Spanish person who can actually cook. Service was horrible. The place was empty but I had to get the waitress a couple of times so she can get us another round of drinks. She seemed annoyed when I asked for their happy hour menu. In order to do happy hour we had to sit either outside or at the bar and since we were with a minor we sat outside. Most of what we Ordered was very blend. Great space deserves better food. I had one of the worst restaurant meals in Fairfield county in 20 years. The staff was utterly charming which makes writing this difficult but perhaps they will reconsider using the cheapest possible rolls for their pulled pork sandwich and perhaps they won't drown it in bland creamy red pepper sauce. And perhaps they will make their own salad dressing instead of the cheap store bought bottled goop. read more

I describe the menu as Latin Food greatest hits with dishes from different countries - Colombian, Peruvian, Venezuelan, etc, The food is consisently tasty and portions are great. My party and I were initially excited and wanted to like Cibu but instead we really regretted going there for dinner. Food portions were small, overcooked,overpriced and the quality was low. They have a mandatory 20% gratuity added for only a party of five people. They refused to split the check or even let us pay separately. Service was extremely slow and horrid.Our server was unpleasant,difficult and disrespectful.We were there for almost two hours and we arrived at 5:15pm. The music was super loud and repetitive. I have eaten at this place three times and without fail my meals have been amazing. Super authentic delicious Latin food. The pernil is delicious and they even give you a chunk of Chicharrón with it. Today I had the avocado grilled with marinated shrimp filling. It was absolutely delicious as well. The skirt steak is so scrumptious! They do the rice and gandules beautifully. Needs some work on both the service and the food front. We'll try to give them the benefit of the doubt that they're new and might need time. But early indications are not great. We'll try again maybe in a few months. Food - lomo saltado. I sort of figured to order a quintessential latin dish to try them out. That should be a staple. Steak was very dry with sort of nothing on it. And not much of it quantity wise. No sauce or anything on it. . Just pieces of bland steak. With a side if mayonnaise tasting sauce. French fries were likely from a frozen bag, which is fine. But not the best selection of frozen fries. Pretty sure hot sauce was Tabasco with pieces of onion in it. I like Tabasco, but at a latin restaurant id expect something different. Even a few different options. Arroz con pollo - my wife always gets the most boring thing on the menu so was not expecting much. But chicken was reallyWe make better chicken at home with a little goyo and spices. It was plain, dry, and not that good. Rice had frozen veggies in it like from a grocery bag. Im not above that, but not at a place that seems like they're trying to be authentic and high quality. Appetizers were this ropa vieja thing on top of arepas. Came out in a pile of oil. My wife got sick and pretty sure this was the culprit. I thought it tasted decent, but that much oil always gets my wife. It was soggy with oil. All in all it was not terrible. But very much lacking. Service was also poor. A wine ordered at start of meal took until we were almost done. And lets just say not a lot of smiles, advice, or great vibes. Felt a little unfriendly. We will maybe try again. Unfortunately, my first time at Cibus was not a good one. The Paella for two was dry, to the point that the mussels had shriveled up to nothing inside their shell, and the rice was crunchy and stuck to the bottom of the paella pan. And our friends' meals were switched, so they ended up with the wrong meal, altho they told the servers what they had ordered. As much as I wanted to write a good review, I feel compelled to tell the truth! The atmosphere has alot to Improve on as the lighting resembles an emergency room at a hospital. The appetizers came out before we received our terrible cocktails which was a dirty martini which had floating ice cubes and literally no taste. The mofungo appetizer was dry. The ceviche was soup like with limited seafood and unappealing looking. The worst was the paella and the mussels were over cooked as I looked to see where they could have disappeared to and the rice flavorless. It was an overall lousy meal with much to be improved on. I hope they can redeem themselves as it was not worth the money or the experience. I have visited their other locations in the past and have been very satisfied but if this location does not improve I see it closing soon. Save your money and go elsewhere! read more

Fun, modern vibe, tasty dishes, friendly attentive service, and well priced menu! Fish tacos were generously filled and tasted amazing, topped with pickled onions and chunks of avocado. Our table loved the fresh tostones with dipping sauce appetizer and the chicken tostada was great with crispy chunks of chicken. Another highlight was the shrimp ajillo in a rich, lobster-bisque-like sauce. The other appetizers (pionono, grilled avocado) and mains (arroz con pollo and shrimp saltado) were fine too, just not as good as the other stuff. Food was very good. Happy to find a place serving oxtail. The drinks were good. The decor was pleasing-turquoise and gold accents. However, the lighting was very bright-we weren't the only patrons who commented. The brightness discouraged us from staying for another drink either at the table or at the bar. Yum with a capital Y, BUT very small portions. The guacamole was very tasty but enough for one. They did give a lot of chips though. We had two other apps (avocado and shrimp as well as a mixed seafood ceviche) and they were both delicious. Well I really wanted to like this place. Waiter initially very visible and then we lost him for most of the evening. The nachos came out quickly, but small in size and not very flavorful, too much onions.
