I visited here after searching for the best nachos and decided on Lantina Cantina based on YELP reviews. I arrived on a Sunday afternoon and there were no cars in parking lot so I was unsure if they were open. They were. I entered and it took some time before I was acknowledged and I almost left...but after waiting at front I was told to sit wherever I chose; the place was empty and I decided to sit at the bar. The bartender was gracious, friendly, and accomodating. Super guy. I ordered a margarita and nachos with steak. Both were delivered quickly. Tortilla chips were said to be made in house, but these were not. They were multi.colored and not made in house. Nacho cheese from a can, not cheddar as advertised. Like the cheese you get at a 7 11 or gas station. Yuck. I was not impressed at all by nachos or steak and at $18 would never order again. Grabbed food to go from this place so I could work in my hotel room. A quick walk from my hotel so that nice. They had so many items I wanted to try but landed on a Baja taco (mahi mahi), Asian buns with grilled shrimp and a Caesar salad. I love tacos, but was a bit disappointed that this change hadn't been updated on Google or yelp. Either way, it was happy hour so we ordered some tacos and a margarita. The tacos here are soo good! They are different from any of the other tacos Ive had in the area and they are stacked! They were juicy, flavorful, and unique. The margarita was also very good and only $5 for happy hour! They have different flavors for their margaritas, but I only tried the classic and was not disappointed. The establishment is also very nice and new looking inside, and very clean. The mango mojito was, likewise, what you'd expect -- very "ok," nothing earth-shattering, and the Tres Leches for dessert was like was aok. My first experience at this experience at this establishment was an interesting one. In going to celebrate for a friends birthday, the bar and tables were manned by 2 staff. Even though it was a Tuesday night, it was extremely busy and we did have to wait a while for our drinks. One of my close friends asked if they were hiring, as she works in that specific service area to which she received by the bartender, "no and it's a little too late for that." Although my drink was great, I do think this restaurant needs more staff to handle nights like I experienced. For starters we had the smashed plantains which essentially are fried tostones. They were delicious! For my meal I had the Cuban sandwich and my girlfriend had the Cantina croquettes. Pretty solid. Visited on a slow, late Sunday evening and even still the atmosphere was lively. Maybe a little too lively, for the amount of people in the dining area the music was tooth-rattlingly loud. I'm not usually sensitive to noise levels in a public place but this was blaring Mexican brass cranked to 11 in a room full of like six people. Server was friendly, attentive and well spoken. Food was pretty typical but entirely okay. They focus a lot on flashy plating but much of the flavor profile and technique is just positively passable. Also a little disconnect between their presentation style and their cheap, picnic grade melamine plates. Cocktails pick them up a bit, the Ranch Water was well done. Sometimes the simplest cocktails are the ones that get screwed up the worst but I was pleased by how faithful and un-fussy it was. My friend had something more complex, an original I think, and whatever it was it was also pleasant. Dessert could use improvement. There aren't a great deal of options and the churro we wound up with was slightly stale and presented with straight up Hershey's syrup so not what I'd call a homerun. But despite sounding like I'm dogging on the place, it is actually perfectly fine for what it is. read more

Only 4 stars bc I didn't eat the spicy shrimp taco, it tasted metallic and I was afraid to finish it which I told the waiter, when the bill came that taco was still on the bill and there was also a 20% "automatic service fee" added to the bill, for a party of 2, I would tip that amount anyway, but I'm sure most people wouldn't notice tip was included and tip 40% without realizing. Unfortunately their website has not been updated, but they are open early on Sunday at 11am offering an extensive brunch menu. I tried the Baleada, they are served with a side of scalloped potatoes. Baleada can be described as large sexy tacos with a base of spiced black beans with scrambled eggs, bacon, and oxaca cheese. Excellent!! We also tried the chicken and waffle with chili whipped butter, also served with scalloped potatoes. I really appreciated the bone in chicken as opposed to the chicken tender you usually find on the brunch menu with waffles locally. The waffle was nice and fluffy with a hint of cinnamon. We ordered mimosas with blood orange juice which was a nice change from regular OJ. Also the staff is super friendly, and on top of everything. Stumbled upon this spot by randomly searching for brunch and we were blown away! The vibe is totally charming, lots of greenery and nice art - also loved that the ladies room paper towel dispensers are specifically designed for elbows. Our party of 3 couldn't decide what to order so we elected to all split the croquettes (our server's rec), the pork belly Benedict (another rec) and the churro French toast. Everything was super tasty and a healthy serving size for the price. Additional bonus was the truly delicious blackberry margarita (the guava and dragonfruit margs were also quite good!). If the brunch is any indication, we can't wait to try this place out for dinner!
