Birria grilled cheese
Sabrina A.

My friends and I went here for brunch and loved our meals. We got there right when they opened and the only downside was our food took quite some time to come out even though we were only one of two tables. Their chips and salsa are amazing and a must get. I couldn't stop eating them! I got the birria grilled cheese and the portion was huge. The consommé was delicious. The coffee is very sweet and has some cinnamon and other spices which was good and unexpected. I would definitely go back for dinner.

So came for brunch , and first of all the music is wayyyyyy too loud . Like seriously - impossible to have a conversation without yelling . That was an extreme turnoff , like I came here for brunch - not get my ears blown out; if I wanted that - I would have gone to a nightclub or something. Also my freshly squeezed orange juice was basically ice with orange juice , less ice would have been a lot nicer . Also , our wait time to get food was a longer than expected, we kept seeing other tables get their food before us , which didn't make sense . So I decided to cancel my order and leave . The time management here did not seem to make any sense , extremely loud , and guess not for me . All I had for food was my orange juice my daughters fries and chips in over an hour that I was here . So guess I'll never know if the food is any good here; don't think I'm missing much .

After loving the birria tacos with consomé from their smaller original location, I was eager to try this newer, bigger, aesthetic one. I came here for Taco Tuesday; There were 3 for $10 taco deals as well as $10 margaritas. The staff were super nice and great but the food fell short of that. We ordered the guac and chips as an appetizer. It was the first time we tasted cold guacamole; the pieces of tomatoes were almost icy. Makes me conclude, not everything is made fresh to the order. I'm used to that high quality table side guac. This one couldn't compare. The meat from my carnita taco was tough, should have been tender. The chicken and the steak tacos were mid. The birria taco bowl was drizzled with a weird cheese whiz and the meat was pretty dry for birria. I prefer real cheese. The rice was also weird; it had green peas and stuff mixed in. Not the best combination. The margaritas were served in small glasses filled with ice. I had a few, it was tasty, but smaller than average drink portion. This spot was nice and clean. I love the vibrant contrasting colors and decor, but I wouldn't care to come again anytime soon.

What an outstanding lunch. I read the reviews and decided to give them a try, and I am so glad I did. The restaurant is a mix between Mexican and Venezuelan food. The staff was very helpful in explaining the menu. The restaurant is on the small side but they are still set up for dining in if you like. They have about 3 tables and a counter you can dine at. We chose to dine in and it was great. My girlfriend had 2 tacos ( chorizo and Al pastor). I had the carne asada quesadillas. Both meals were absolutely delicious! They were so packed with flavor. We loved them. We also had an order of chips and salsa, the salsa was probably the best salsa I ever had. It is so chunky and had a touch of spice. This place is definitely a winner and we will be back.

Near five star first experience at Mil Sabores. The biggest downfall was that the birria pizzadilla came without the consume that we also had ordered. While the pizzadilla was outstanding without the consume, it definitely would have kicked the flavor up a knotch. We also loved the Reina pepiada arepa. The arepa was light but also filling at the same time and reminded us of the flavor of a southern biscuit. We variety of salsas that accompanied our order were fun to experiment with. We look forward to further exploring this creative and unique menu!

Tuesday night taco special- chorizo, freshly squeezed lime margarita. Freshly made sauces

My first visit to mil sabores in Black Rock. Everything was amazing. All fresh ingredients, a really nice menu, great happy hour specials. Very friendly server. Ambiance: beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Really enjoyable.

We wanted to try a restaurant we hadn't been to before and found this gem on yelp. First impressions were high as it has a beautiful mural on the side wall. Walking in we noticed they have a lovely outdoor patio for warmer months. We were seated promptly and Johnny brought us waters and took our drink order. He is the bartender so was pulling triple duty in host, server and bartender. We ordered a beer and a glass of wine. He showed us the bottle, poured me a sip and swirled it for me. I tasted it, lovely. Not many servers take the time anymore, so a welcome change. Johnny ordered the steak arepa off the lunch menu and I ordered two steak tacos. Omg, the arepa is huge and so tasty. He brought multiple salsas and two bottles of aioli. My tacos were beyond amazing, so delicious. Full of meat with onions and cilantro. The ladies bathroom is immaculately clean and decorated nicely. The service is excellent, very friendly and professional. Go with complete confidence, ask for Johnny T. Absolutely a fantastic server.

Amazing authentic food! There's lots of options and choices. I ordered the pollo burrito today for lunch. I will definitely be back! The interior and seating is also so perfect.

I highly recommend this restaurant! The food, decor, and customer service are all phenomenal. We stopped in for brunch, and everything was amazing. My family and I will definitely be returning to this fantastic spot!

A little whole in the wall that you easily pass by if you don't know about them. I was made familiar through City Church when we had an event and ordered from there menu. So it was take out, and I haven't been inside their location yet. The food however is of great quality and quantity, not to forget it is delicious! I had the birria burrito and it was big and richly filled with tastiness. My wife had the Carne Asada Arepa and she loved it. Definitely a place to go back to and try more goodies from their inviting menu. I'll update my review once that happens.

I have been obsessed with this place since I first went their. My only problem is the tacos are SO GOOD I never want to try anything else. The atmosphere is clean and the dining area is smaller but they are expanding which is exciting! Service is always kind and quick. I have tried every taco on the menu and love them all but my favorite is the Al Pastor which is a marinated pork with pineapple. It is such a good combination. I tried their arepa one time and it was amazing. It is stuffed with meat and very filling. They do not skimp out. The sauces they have are great on the tacos and arepas. I come here about twice a month it may be my favorite taco spot In CT! I love it so much my friends ordered a tray for my birthday Also they have great taco tuesday specials

the flavorless drink they served

Food was not good, birria tacos had no flavor and the sauce was OVERLY sweet. The street corn was disgusting, got worse with every bite. Ordered drinks, literally so bad. Very watered down and weren't sweet at all (piña colada) and said I couldn't send it back bc I drank from it...how would I know if I like it if I don't try it...prices on the menu aren't accurate and when we asked about it they said the menu says prices can change, checked the menu and it's in tiny print at the bottom. Also they charged a 20% gratuity for 4 of us. Paid $160 for FOUR PEOPLE. Never ever coming back here. Bad food bad service terrible prices. UPDATE owner said I walked in w an attitude...I was excited to try the food (reason y I took pics)didn't have an attitude whatsoever. And the owner wasn't even on the floor...unprofessional AND a liar? yikes.I was nice the entire interaction and shared my experience with a review. Also if u look down at other bad reviews u can see the owner unprofessionally and embarrassingly clapping back at people which completely PROVES my point about BAD SERVICE.

We were not starving, but needed a little something, so we yordered a beef empanada, a cheese empanada, and a Reina Pepeada - which was *more* than enough for the two of us -- but reheated perfectly in our air fryer the next day for a second meal. (In full fairness, we do not eat tons at a time, but even their appetizers are very plentiful.) It is a lovely place and while we cannot regularly afford it, it is definitely on our special date night list and somewhere we consider special to our relationship -- especially as, he is Mexican and Irish and I am Irish/Welsh and Syrian, so we were asking about the food and what we might like, and two different staff members were happy to recommend -- and also keep in mind I am allergic to seafood. Muy bueno.

I also did the shredded beef and plantain and beans grilled. Steak and cheese arepa was the star, so crispy, juicy steak, cheese seared. I could eat it dinner every time. The other arepa was decent, it just had the mistake of going second, shredded beef felt slightly dry. It was al little pricier than expected, the steak was 14 and the shredded beef was 11. Will be back to try other dishes!

They have only been open already for 1.5 months. So, today my dad I went to grab a bite specifically at the Arepa food truck.I have been waiting for this moment !! Lol! So happy we did because it was delicious plus always glad we can support! I had an Arepa Rellena( beef) and as extras I added cheese and aguacate. Toppings are extra charge. My dad also ordered an arepa rellena but added cheese and sweet plantains to his . Arepas and Tequenos will come with a side of sauce with It. I wish they had an option on the menu where they had arepa that had everything on it for toppings with the option of chicken or beef and then also keep the other options as adding it separately for those who prefer that way ! So on to the drinks.. we both ordered Chica which is a creamy drink made out of white rice and tastes just like ( Arroz con leche estilo Colombiano ) rice pudding Colombian style. Soo good , it's like dessert but to drink! And my dad had tequenos which I couldn't have since they weren't Gluten-free but he definitely enjoyed eating those cheesy fluffy fried doughy deliciousness of goodness very much! Las arepas were very filling , we didn't wait long for them to come out either . The only thing is that my beef arepa did have some pieces that were kind of cold. No major issue , just wish it was all evenly hot . But that's an easy fix! The food was fresh, flavorful, tasty.. and it definitely filled us up. I just love arepas! The gentleman that greeted us( the owner) was so nice and very friendly!! Must say lunch was really good today!! Check them Out ! Now I know where to go for a stuffed arepa!

Sadly, just like the rest of the recent reviews I was quite disappointed by what I encountered. Everyone working was super friendly and attentive which was nice but I didn't recognize anyone working there. I didn't pay much attention to that but when the menu came it was greatly reduced and trying to be more "upscale". it felt odd as the main draw of Valencia for lunch was that it was fast, casual, affordable and delicious. I usually get the lunch combo that came with an aerpa, empanada, rice beans and ceviche but that wasn't on the menu that I saw. I ordered the street corn to start and got the bowl with a pernil arepa. The bowl was a large portion and everything was fresh. Taste wise things were pretty good but didn't blow me away. The pernil was only ok and that should have been the star of the show. I had to ask for aji and I was only given a small dish with some hot sauce as well. In the past your server would just hand over a bottle of aji and let you go to town. The food was decent, but not close to what I remember. The biggest let down was when the check came. I know things are expensive all over but lunch was $41 for some street corn, a jeujed up chipotle bowl and a coke. That seems wild. There was also a charge added for the kitchen which I get but it still feels odd to see additional service charges on an already expensive meal. As far as the renovations go it honestly didn't really seem like anything changed inside, maybe some fresh paint and tile? Unfortunately I will probably not return any time soon or even at all.
