I'm vegetarian, and they had no problem modifying my pasta to fit my diet without sacrificing any flavor being rich, balanced, and beautifully plated. Everyone at the table loved their dishes; it was gourmet Italian from start to finish, not a single miss. The service was just as impressive: fast, attentive, and genuinely friendly. Our server checked in at the right times, kept drinks topped off, and knew the menu and wine list well. The dining room is clean, warm, and inviting, with the kind of cozy, upscale décor you want for a date night, special occasion, or a nicer dinner out. If you're looking for fine dining Italian in New Canaan, CT, with a great wine bar, wood-grilled dishes, and vegetarian-friendly options, Cava Wine Bar & Wood Grill is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend.

The walls are filled with amazing art to admire while you dine. The restaurant is very clean and it's one of the first things I notice when I sat down. Lots of appetizers/tapas to choose from separated into hot tapas and cold tapas. The Mejillones (mussels) were finger licking good!! We also got the oxtail empanadas. They did not meet my expectation but still good. Lots of paella options to choose from: meat, seafood, classic...etc. We ordered the classic paella and it was delicious!! Full of flavor. One waitress running the show, who I assume to be the owner and she was a pleasure to talk to and quick. There is a lot next door you can park at but it's small. However, the street it's located on has plenty of street parking.

We came for paella and went with the classic version..... it definitely hit the spot. The rice was perfectly cooked and crunchy in the right spots. Seafood was cooked beautifully and the spices with the chorizo made it all a balanced and delicious dish. So happy we were able to come back to Paella and we will be back (hopefully) more regularly!

Staff is very friendly, pleasant and accommodating. Rizzutos is one of the few places (3 in my area) around Connecticut that does igloos for the winter and then canopy tents in the summer! This is great if you're looking for that added privacy and special touch to your dining experience. The inside is also lovely as you'll be able to dine by a wonderful fireplace that definitely feels amazing during these cold northeast winters. One recent addition that I think is amazing and what brought me in this last time is their seasonal four-course menus! For like $30 you get a four course meal! Such a great price for the experience. The portions are samplings so not TOO large portions but with the amount of courses you will get comfortably full.

We sat down promptly at 5:30 and it was already packed. Almost every table was full. I'm not sure whether they were short staffed but service was only ok. Our server seemed to disappear for a long time. They took our drink orders and appetizers, which took a while to come out, probably half an hour. They were solid - the meatballs were soft and flavorful, the calamari was good. You could probably skip the baked clams - they were a bit chewy and gritty. The charcuterie board or whatever it's called was fine too. When we finally put our dinner orders in, we were already about an hour into sitting down. I had the "pollo rustico," which was pretty much just chicken scarpariello, which I love. It was very good here too, with big portions. Spicy, the chicken was a bit weird - seemed to be a few pieces instead of a breast. But cooked well. My wife had the eggplant, which was excellent. The food was good, it just took forever. By the time we left, we had been there two hours for apps and entrees. I like taking my time at restaurants, but it just felt like too long, especially with a kid.

The first thing you notice walking in is the atmosphere. It's gorgeous--lots of natural light during the day and soft, moody lighting in the evening that plays off the wood floors and exposed recovered beams. It feels organic and warm, yet the white tablecloths and pressed-leather menus let you know you're in for a serious meal. The service was impressively discreet; they were always there when we needed something but never interrupted the flow of our conversation. They started us off with some incredibly fresh bread, which was a great sign of things to come. For starters, do not skip the Mussels Fra Diabolo. The broth has a perfect hit of garlic and basil, and the crostini is essential for soaking up every drop of that marinara. We also tried the Parmesan Brussel Sprouts--the candied walnuts add a crunch and sweetness that balances the savory sprouts perfectly. For the mains, the Chicken and Wild Mushrooms Pappardelle was a standout. The truffle oil was fragrant without being overpowering, and the presentation tied the whole dish together. I also have to mention the Roasted Chicken. It's rare to find chicken this flavorful and juicy with such a distinct, crispy skin. The combination of spicy sausage and cherry peppers gave it a nice heat, balanced out by the whipped potatoes and spinach. We finished with the coconut and blood orange sorbet, which was the ideal light, refreshing conclusion to the meal. If you're looking for a place where you can actually hear your companions speak while enjoying top-tier presentation and food quality, this is it. A total culinary delight.

Several groups of bread, olive oil and olives placed on our large table were evenly distributed so there was not a lot of passing around. The salad was lightly dressed, flavorful and nicely complimented with thin slices of parmesean cheese. The food is as close to homemade as you can imagine. The eggplant parm was not heavy and delicious. The pasta primavera was a favorite among many. Lots of veggies with a delicate cream sauce. My sister and I had the Parpardelle. So delicious! Not a heavy meat sauce but rather small pieces of thin sausage complimented with hearty mushrooms and peas. The parpardelle was a wide very thin pasta making this dish extra delicious. I recently got Pappardelle Al Forno (a whopping $30) substituting chicken for sausage and it was an insult: literally half the portion it used to be, with a sprinkling of approximately 8 chicken strips each the size of one strand of shredded carrot. The pappardelle noodles themselves were fine, but the delicateness in the sauce is now heavy and overpowering. Also got the Cacio et Peppe ($28). The portion was what most restaurants would call a Kids Meal. And it was extremely salty. Far superior Cacio et Peppe at Zucca down the road, and you get the exact same portion at their happy hour for $10, or an actual entree portion that's more than twice the size for $22. Sad. After 26+ years of loving Via Sforza, we won't be back.
