I love the ambiance here, it's a warm environment with lovely details. The food is prepared well and is flavorful. No one in our party (typically 6) has ever had a poor dining experience. However, if there are vegetarian or celiac people in your party- it's not worth it. The food is really meatetarian and lots of gluten. The outside was deceiving, we did not expect linen table cloths and the formal atmosphere. There were 4 of us for lunch. The food was a bit pricey. 3 of us ordered salads and 1 ordered a meatball polenta dish. For a pricey place I was surprised they did not bring out a bread basket. A dinner here for a family birthday on a busy Saturday evening. We had reservations and were seated immediately. This is a very cozy restaurant. Our dishes were well-made service was prompt. My portion of cavatelli arrabiate was delicious. I'd highly recommend it to any spicy food lover. On the negative side, I think the restaurant ran out of drinkware midway through our meal. Beer was served in a dizzying array of glasses. In our case, not a big deal, but it can impact some beer styles. Also, parking can be a little bit of a pain. Went on a Wednesday night and there were a decent amount of people which I took as a good sign--and I wasn't wrong! All three meals we got were delicious! I love the decor with wonderful horse paintings , an open, but cozy dining room with a fire place ( great in the winter months) and tables nicely spaced. There is also a bar area where you can enjoy more casual dining. The menu has choices for all needs and preferences. I have always found the food to be prepared very well and delicious. We ate here well over 7 years ago now. We happened to find it on an errand run while visiting family and it is just one of those restaurants that you don't stop thinking about. My husband got a sausage rigatoni with vodka sauce, I got the short rib ravioli and we started with burrata. We have dined at Barn Door no fewer than 100 times and never had a bad meal and always had a great time. When we go there with friends they also say they've "never had a bad meal". While we were in Ridgefield this past weekend, we had a fantastic lunch at the charming Barb Door restaurant! We absolutely loved the rustic vibes, and the menu has a great variety whether you're looking for pasta, burgers, pizza, seafood, and so much more! All of the ingredients are organic and locally-sourced, with many of the dishes having an Italian & Mediterranean influence. We have to commend the kitchen and wait staff on how quickly the food was prepared and their attentive service as well! When we were speaking with the owner and told him we ordered the Albanian pizza because it caught our eye, he went the extra mile and recommended that we add jalapeños as a topping. It was delicious, and we never would've thought to do that ourselves, so we were really appreciative! Nice bread to start the meal. Only downside was ... too much food, will have to leave defeated with a doggie bag. Ha! Oh the drink was great, the wines are nice the beer selection is solid, but this place hits home run after home run with their cocktails. This is a cute little place right on Route 7 in Ridgefield. I had previously passed this place so many times but had not had a chance to dine there. On a wet July evening as I was headed home I decided to give this place a chance, They have their own parking towards the left of the restaurant and there were a few opening spots where I could squeeze my car in. Once inside, the restaurant is divided into two sections. On the right is the more family oriented and much lighted up room, while on the left is where the bar is, with a few TV screens and a much darker ambiance. Since there seemed to be more people on the right section, I decided to go there. The room is pretty large with about 10-12 tables of 4 scattered around. There is definitely a barn feeling with pictures of horses and chicken sculptures on the walls. Once seated, the service was actually pretty quick, there was a dinner specials menu and then a regular menu. They start off with a fresh loaf of bread that comes with a tomato paste and butter, which was really good. I ordered the calamari with hot peppers as an appetizer and the house signature beef burger as my main. The food arrived within 15 minutes and was extremely fresh. Loved the calamari and the burger was really good. It also came with an ample supply of fries on the side. Having devoured the Burger and a few calamari pieces, I realized it was a lot of food, so made some of it to go. Overall really enjoyed the service in particular and the ambiance and the food. This place is absolutely fantastic. It's a bit pricy, but it is very good. The ambiance is very nice. It has a nice upscale barn theme complete with horse pictures and a fire place. It is very cozy. There's also a separate bar room. The food is very good. Everything we had was fantastic. The bread they bring out is quite nice, and the special red sauce that they bring out with it is wonderful. The people are nice and the service is relatively fast. They do tend to get confused a lot though, so don't be afraid to ask for something again. The prices are a bit up there but not too insane. The pizza is the best way to go if you're trying to save money. It easily feeds 2-3 people and it is decently inexpensive. Everything else on the menu is probably $$ to $$$. Overall good experience. Stopped on our way to a show at Ridgefield playhouse. It was a little out of the way especially with some winter weather in the area, but well worth the detour. Building didn't look like much from the outside but inside ambiance was great. Sat in the dining room across from fireplace. My wife and I came into the restaurant Saturday after dropping our daughter off at College. We were warmly welcomed by the hostess, and sat near the kitchen door, where we continued to see into the kitchen when they opened the door. The kitchen was filthy, not the normal busy night dirty. My wife went to the bathroom, and commented that the ladies room was filthy, and a man was coming out of the woman's room, and left the seat up. We had dinner and were not impressed. The pasta was sitting in a pool of grease/butter. We shared a Tuna appetizer that was decent, until we were both violently ill a few hours later. I had a different entree, so the common thing was the tuna and a split salad. Monday, I went to my Dr. He said I had food poisoning. We had heard great things and we were excited to try it. We ordered: appetizer the zucchini bites, French onion soup, one of the salads, the salmon, a burger (barn door), and the scallops special. All were cooked ok - however with the exception of the soup they weren't good plates of food. The scallops were $36 for 4 small on top of risotto that was bland. the salmon was covered in sauce and was over cooked. The bill was over $200 with tip. Two glasses of wine. We felt that this place isn't close to worth that price. for what we received it should have been less. there are far better places to go for that amount of money. service was also slow on a night when it wasn't that busy. read more
