Our family has always adored Black Cat Grille. We all used to live in Redding and went to the original restaurant. Now, we have moved to surrounding areas, but we still love to come back. Today, my brother, sister, and I met for lunch. I had the eggplant wrap - delicious! My sister had a savory BLT with avocado and my brother had a burger. All were really fresh, flavorful, and worth ordering again. We also shared an order of Tuna Tostadas. Really tasty with a nice blend of flavors. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Really solid pub style food. The Redding Burger was one of the best burgers I've had in a while; daughter proclaimed the fish & chips merely decent. We went to the new location in Ridgefield, where the little pub used to be. The food was awful. my son ordered a hamburger medium rare. It came well. I ordered seafood with pasta. It was tasteless and the muscles made me nauseous. Just the smell on their own. I didn't eat the food. My other son ordered pasta Bolognese. He also didn't eat it. It was just not good. Fries are excellent if you like the double fried wrinkly fingery versions (I do). Please do poutine as these are the Quebec style fries perfect for Poutine. Our ladies lunch group ate at Black Cat Grill on Thursday. What a welcome respite from a dark and dreary day. The wall of windows in the dining room was so cheerful. Susan , our waitress, asked if we wanted separate checks even before we had to request it. The menu has something for everyone. My burger was medium rare just as ordered and hot off the grill. One of the gals has some dietary restrictions and her order was modified to suit that. No problem ! Our group will certainly be back! Arrived on a Friday evening to a lively dining and bar scene. Bright warm pub feel with good service. Good selection of beers and attentive bartender. The other couple we were meeting were late in arriving and the manager juggled the seating and we were given a table shortly after they arrived. Wait staff were prompt and our food came out fairly quickly. The steaks were perfectly cooked and the portions were nicely sized. Food came to the table hot and well plated. It was a very nice dining experience . Despite the full room the noise level was fine and it was easy to chat at our table for four. Overall fun experience. We ate outside which was super nice and pleasant. The ambiance is nice outside. The inside is pretty dark for daytime eating, but at night the bar scene opens up a bit more and it's a nice little area. There are plenty of decorations and it's a nice old fashion wooden bar. The service is good, people are really nice. Food is good but a bit greasy for my taste. It tasted great, but I could definitely feel the grease and sodium. First visit after a shopping by spree at the Danbury Fair Mall en route to Norwalk on a sunny Saturday. We took a chance and..."I remember when..." this was the OG Little Pub! Ambiance is cool. Lots of natural light and cool bar and seating area. The corner booths look like fun for a larger party in the restaurant side of things. Simple menu: pub food but good stuff. The BLT with avocado was super tasty and the hand cut fries were crispy and delish. Nice menu of beers on tap and cocktail options were plentiful. Service: meh. Lovely servers but not super-attentive to most of the customer, not just us (party of two) but others as well. Maybe they're working on things. Again, super friendly and lovely, just not speedy, despite plenty of staff milling around. Prices are good, fair for the pub-like offerings and simple menu. Under $40 for two sandwiches and non-alcoholic drinks. The place is great for families, couples and happy hour crews. The bar seating area holds ten, but the high tops nearby would be great overflow too. Three tv's with sports is nice as well. We'd come again! It's not the best of all time but its just good I had the pasta and a brownie fudge sundae, and to start off the pasta is good, but it can be a little salty, but the brownie fudge sundae was AMAZING and they have really good desserts, so check that out if you decide to go there, but one thing I would change about the restaurant itself is that the tables are a little bit rocky, and they keep going back-and-forth but overall the food was great and my server was amazing props to Matt. read more

Food price / quality (value) rating 8. I had the Rachel sandwich, where the menu stated that it came loaded with sauerkraut. I don't think there was any sauerkraut on it. So we tried this place in Georgetown, having driven by it earlier today. They're part of a Yelp program that rebates 6%, which I just subscribed to. Prosecco for two and lemonade for the third. Nice on a hot summer evening! We ordered a salad with tuna, walnuts, lettuce and tomatoes. Turkey club and a veggie burger. The place outside had a nice crowd only another couple inside. It took a while for the food to arrive but it was good. We couldn't finish the salad with the tuna, so we asked for a doggie bag. You know I wasn't gonna write this I understand that businesses are really impacted by negative reviews but I feel like my story is worth sharing. My girlfriend and I are new to the area, and over the last holiday season we're given a gift card to the black cat grill. We were looking for something to do figured let's try it out. I called ahead of time to ask if it was customary to have a reservation and brought up the gift card. Was told no reservation was fine, and the gift card no matter what the age will be honored! Our waitress was so sweet, very attentive to our table, the food was delicious. But then the manager, bar tender? Owner?? Not sure. Apparently when I handed our waitress the gift card to pay for a small portion of the meal I was immediately questioned by this person. Apparently it was written over? The price was changed? All I know was that the gift card was given to me by a family member who is not going to ever use it. I was questioned like a criminal. Entire situation was uncomfortable and unnecessary. Disappointing the food was great our server was amazing! Bartender or whoever she was ruined everything for us! Our friends and I will not be going back there! read more

Have been several times to Black Cat, and every time is very good. Pros: Beer selection is very wide, food is always excellent. Meh: Service is up and down. I've never had a server know what is on the rotating taps. This is good (huge and changing selection) but frustrating. I don't understand why they can't print out that week's selection. On one visit even the host and the bar tender didn't know the beers. I've had one dinner where I couldn't find a beer to drink and just had water. Cons: Small inside and very loud, we made the mistake of bringing our parents. They couldn't hear a thing we said all night. read more

I'm sad to say that I will never go to the Black Cat Grille again. A group of us, 65 and over friends would meet once a month and we have been going there for about a year or more and never had a problem. When they moved to their new location a week ago it seems that they left their manors at the old place. When we got there at 4 pm they tried to put us at a table that would only hold 6 people, when 10 or 11 people showed up they moved us to a different room which was fine, plenty of room for all. At 6 pm they told us we had to leave; I spoke to the owner and asked him to sit down and talk to me, I thought we could work something out. He said and I quote "I don't have time to talk to you" When I protested about the way we were being treated he said and again I quote "I'm prepared to call the police if you don't leave" At that point there was nothing to gain by trying to somehow smooth it out so we left. I will not tolerate a person in authority making me feel like I'm not good enough to be his customer. So just be aware that this is the type of person you will be giving your hard-earned money to. Popped in for a quick bite with some friends and their kids and left feeling full but not satisfied. Its has the small neighborhood bar and grill feel and has a decent variety of food options. The qualify of the food was got was what drove the 3 stars as it was ok, but no one in our group was blown away by any means. I honestly don't think there was one stand out item out of the bunch.
