Unsure what to do for dinner, we decided to give Romanacci a try. I liked it the moment I walked in. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming yet informal at the same time. The food and pastries looked great and the staff was very friendly. After some deliberation we ordered two pizzas and had a rice ball while we waited. I thought the rice ball was very good and appreciated the amount of sauce served with it (in a cast iron pan). Our pizza order was to-go, so we enjoyed it at home. The pizza was quite good. Aside from the fact that they completely got my order wrong and gave me a pie i'd never order, it was still good. In general I think pizza in Norwalk is sub-par, so this is definitely one of the better options. While I didn't have one, they also offer crepes with nutella, which makes me happy. I will definitely return and will do an updated review when they (hopefully) get my order correct. I think this would be a great place to go for a casual dinner with some friends and wine. read more

Great pizza, amazing crepes, the cannolis are filled to order and taste amazing. They have a nice wine list, the coffee and cappuccinos are good. Cute little spot with nice ambiance, good food and great service. The servers are always nice and you feel taken care of there. I love the handbag holders under the table and on the bar. I've been going for a while and I always have a nice experience there. When the owners are around they are very accommodating and catering. read more

Been here a couple times now. The pizza, crepes, and deserts are really good. The pizza is traditional old Italian style. The personal size pizza is easily big enough for 2 and the the large is big enough for a family. Since the inside and tables are fairly small, the large pizza is only available for take out. Service is a bit spotty. The owner/chefs check in with you when they can but the waitress seems baffled most of the time. Good selection of beer and wine. Worth a visit. read more

Pizza like you haven't had before...not too thin, not too thick crust, baked to perfection. We've had the traditional margherita, Fontana de trevi (white pizza with argula, cherry tom, prosciutto, grana padano, truffle oil), shrimp scampi special (yes, on pizza), Capricciosa (ham, wild mushrooms, artichokes) and La Campagnola (roasted zucchini, eggplant, peppers, mushrooms). Which was our favorite? All of them. Salads and focaccia are excellent. Meat and cheese platters are just right. I had to be coaxed into trying the homemade white and red sangria and I'm so glad I did. Really refreshing. Favorite dessert is the nutella puff pastry with a scoop of hazelnut gelato. Their full expresso bar has great cappucinos and lattes and we're pretty picky there. Only downside is that they don't take reservations but it's like a neighborhood kind of place where you just stop in and feel right at home. read more

Ok.. The food is good. Other reviews have established that. My wife and I have came here 4 or 5 times now, both for take out and dine in. The outside patio is nice but it is adjacent to a parking lot and each person coming and going floods you with their headlights at night time. For us... The staff is amazing!!! The best way to describe them is genuine. We discovered this place by first coming in for a take out pizza and ordered a class of wine, and was so welcomed by the staff that we stayed and enjoyed every bit of it. We came for dinner on a Saturday night and were pleasantly surprised. The food was great and the menu was varied and fresh. We split a salad with strawberries and raisins, an order of Garlic Knots, a small Funghi pizza and a Margharita slice. Everything was delicious. So why the 3 stars? The atmosphere and the waiters. One of my pet peeves is when you feel hovered over during a meal, which was exactly what this felt like. More than once, our waiter overheard our personal conversations and interjected trying to sell us more food. Also, it was extremely loud and boisterous, which didn't really seem to be the "vibe" the restaurant was meant for. Romanacci seems like it is trying to be a casual, relaxed option while being a hip, young wine bar at the same time which really isn't working. It is just an uncomfortable atmosphere with an odd mix of middle aged couples and obnoxious cackling groups. TLDR: I would be willing to come again for lunch in the hopes of a less obnoxious atmosphere since the food is good, but I would definitely skip for dinner. read more

My boyfriend and I usually go their for pizza all the time, but with everything going on right now with the COVID-19 pandemic we ordered delivery through Grubhub. Unfortunately the Grubhub driver didn't wait for the pizzas to be ready and left, but when I called Romanacci's without hesitation they just asked for my address and delivered the pizzas themselves. Great casual place with very nice decor. My wife had the arugula and prosciutto pizza while had the margherita pizza. Both were excellent! I have been going to Romanacci's for a few years and I am sad to say I will never go back. My past visit was not indicative of past experiences. We ordered meatballs and four out of six were completely raw inside. This happens in restaurants but what followed was unacceptable. First of all the hostess was the only friendly attentive person in the place. Our waiter was matter of fact and offered no information that guided our order. 1 We ordered a salad to share and he offered no insight on the portion size. 2 Did not check if we needed anything until well after we were through with appetizers. 3. Was made aware of raw food being served and made no attempt to approach us if we needed anything else. The hostess was more concerned as she offered us cannoli in the parking lot. Kitchen Concerns 1. Seating facing an open kitchen with no safe guards against cough or sneezing clients. A four inch piece of glass does not protect against a cough or sneeze traveling over 19ft. 2Making pizza on porous(granite) surfaces. They might reply its stone but its a very porous surface which harbors germs. Most municipalities have banned making pizza on natural stone. 3. Chef making pizza constantly checking his cell phone and not washing hands. Chef using and directing food and drink into his mouth and not washing hands. 4. This was a great little spot. We stopped in for lunch on Saturday and had a great few slices of pizza and even better service. The margarita pizza is cooked perfectly, with great balance of sauce, cheese and herbs. The artisan way of cooking, serving (woodboards) makes eating pizza even more fun. Great place. I sit right up at the counter. The male servers are charming and handsome. The Caesar salad is yummy but I recommend splitting with one or two other people. The pizza is Delicious! I am so glad we found this restaurant. We planned a night in Norwalk as a stopover on a longer drive and got to our hotel at 9:30pm. The restaurant at our hotel was closed and we were in need of a late dinner. After driving up the main street we came upon Romanacci's. The vibe was great and the host at the front even better! The restaurant was minutes from closing the kitchen but he still got our to go order in and was even kind enough to let us sit for a glass of wine while we waited. Second time I've tried this place, second disappointment. With my wife sick and family visiting, I ordered their large pizza through Chow Now, half sausage & mushrooms, half plain. Added a good tip. I ordered online with a time so that it would be still cooking when I arrived. No such luck. It was sitting in the box when I got there a little early. The kid behind the counter opens the box, looks inside and starts arguing with the chef. Finally he closes the box, brings it to me and tells me the new guy made a mistake, I got half sausage, half mushroom. In fairness, he offered to make it again but I got people waiting so I declined. He offered a couple of cannoli on the house. Another kid behind the counter then picks up two tiny cannoli shells, the bite size ones, and starts looking for the piping bag. That's when I left. While most Italian restaurants / pizza places also make traditional Italian entrees like veal marsala, vegetables, etc. Romancci doesn't. So getting protein here is difficult unless you want sausage or something as a topping on your pizza. BUT they have a fancier sister restaurant in the same strip mall, just two or so doors to the right of the place. The first time I went to Romanaccis was a great experience. The food was delicious and prepared quickly, but with great care. Our waiter was super helpful with suggesting different types of pizzas and desserts. He also had the perfect balance of being chatty and friendly without aggressively hovering. The second time I went it was a horrible experience. The food, like my previous visit, was still great. But the service this time around was so awful that I don't think I will go back to the restaurant. She made FIVE careless mistakes when taking our order and bringing our food, including: not bringing our salads out before the pizza, bringing out the wrong salads after we had to ask where they were, and bringing us two pizzas, one cut, one uncut. Was I supposed to fold up the entire uncut pizza like a giant taco and just munch that way? Because we all know it's only acceptable to eat a giant folded pizza in the privacy of your own home, right? So I get it, mistakes happen. But FIVE? And to make matters worse she was no even the least bit apologetic. It was almost as if WE were annoying her by simply wanting the food we ordered. And trust me, we were super polite about all of the mistakes so she had no reason to hate us or think we were jerks or whatever. When the bill came I was expecting to see at least some of the food comped to make up for our horrible dining experience - but no. Nothing was comped. In lieu of a reduced bill, she gave us four tiny Italian cookies. Which, don't get me wrong, I love cookies. But this place also makes delicious Nutella pastries, as well as many other decadent baked goods, and I feel like five mistakes warrants a pretty big "sorry" via baked goods. Sadly, one and done! Loved the energy of the maître 'd at this place but unfortunately the food was not up to snuff. This place came recommended to us and we now know not to take this person's recommendation ever again! At first glance, one would be impressed by the cuteness and quaintness of this venue but when you walk in, you are accosted by pleasant owner who fights over the euro trash obnoxious music that plays loudly in the background. We sat down by the bar on a Saturday night around 8--no wait at all and about 3 parties were seated inside and 2 parties outside. We ordered the mashed potato croquettes (just ok)as an app and the lasagna and the chef specialty pasta which consisted of 3 cheese stuffed shells served with a measly amount of unflavored vodka sauce with a few slivers of shaved parmigiana. The lasagna was NOT your typical lasagna....so if you want that deep dish lasagna that is neatly layered with cheese, sauce, sausage and meat. better head elsewhere as this is far from decadent. The water was even piss warm! The maitre d was really nice and did try to justify his lasagna and explained to us that this is how it is made in his area....eventually the Chef made his way around the joint checking on his customers and he got to us and asked us how everything was and we said it was just ok....he was stunned! He and maitre 'd then chatted about us in their beautiful symphonic romance language of Italian(felt like Seinfeld at the nail salon). As for the menu, very skimpy on traditional italian dishes and really only serves pizzas various ways but being that they couldn't get the stuffed shells right, I doubt that the pizza will be anywhere near good. The BBQ chicken pizza we ordered was anything but. A less misleading name would have been deep fried, breaded chucked covered in sweet and sour sauce pizza. They sliced the pizza is either very large or very small awkwardly shaped slices. If they cannot cut a pizza properly hate to think of what else is going on there. My friend ordered the ravioli and it came cold. When we Asked to have it heated, it took another 10 minutes. We had to ask twice to get the check. Best pizza around! This is the real deal, super fresh ingredients, and the greatest crust - right amount of crunch and chew. We default to Romanaccis for takeout, delivery (now that they are on UberEATS!) and even dine in for a quick dinner. The restaurant is really cute and cozy, good service, and they have great cannoli and other Italian pastry for dessert. We don't get pizza from anywhere else. If you get a large for takeout or delivery - ask for smaller cut pieces, the regular cut is huge slices, but then again I guess you could eat more that way and still say you only had a slice :) read more
