    Paper thin!

Great pizza. Thin, perfect ratio of cheese, sauce and dough. Not sure the hot oil was necessary, but what do I know. This was the first time trying this style of pizza and it was amazing. The restaurant ambience feels like they tried to replicate a pizza spot that has been there for 70 years but doesn't quite work. I'm aware that colony pizza has a long history and maybe the original location has the authentic greasy spoon vibe. The service was not really good. Walking in looking around unsure if I seat myself walked pretty deep into the restaurant before seeing someone. The service was curt but I actually don't mind that. However trying to wave down a server when you need something was nearly impossible because they seemed to be in the back somewhere. That being said loved the pizza

Best New Haven style pizza that I have had outside of New Haven. Great flavor and crispy crust....definitely worth the stop.

Visited a friend of mines and told me this was the spot. Was intrigued by the crust and pleased with the "no-flop". This place was more popping than Risky Reels during the first day of the season 4 battle pass, lots of good vibes. Pizza i'd rate a 7.8, definitely passed the leftover test as well. Huge fan of the Hot Oil. No diddy .

We recently were in Norwalk for work and was very excited to try the iconic pizza from the area. It was very good! We had cheese and pepperoni. I wish we had more time in Norwalk to try some of the other flavors but happy we got to try the classics. The cheese was very good

Love this pizza! First time there and I got the plain cheese. Perfectly crisp, and thin with the perfect amount of cheese. Will be coming back! Also I didn't know this but they are personal size!

If you're looking for thin crust bar pizza, look no further. This place has a firefighter/police/military theme and I love it with that alone! It wasn't very busy at lunchtime which was surprising but let's get to the point. It's that amazing pizza we came for. We ordered 2 mushroom/sausage pizzas for 3 of us. It was thin, it was crispy, it had no flop, and it was utterly amazing. If you've read my reviews on pizza places, I am a self proclaimed pizza snob and this place won me over. Easily one of the best thin crust bar pizzas I've ever had. There isn't a lot on the menu but when you make pizza this good, you don't need to.

If you live in Fairfield County and haven't tried Colony, you're truly missing out. This is the best thin crust pizza in CT. I get the hot oil pizza with crispy bacon and sometimes I add stingers too. One of my favorite things about every Colony Grill, since I've also been to Fairfield and Milford, is the "Wall of Heroes" which honors those who have served in uniform as first responders or members of the United States Armed Forces. It's unique to them and truly makes it a place worth eating at knowing they support those who have served our country. Inside, they also have gigantic booths for larger parties. Our waitress was super quick with everything and answered all our questions about what was on tap, I only wish they had a different flavor of Downeast because creamsicle doesn't pair to well with pizza, at least not for me.

Love colony pizza! I love getting the salad pizza but with the cheese and sauce. This place is always busy so be prepared for that. All of the colonies resemble each other and have tasted the same so you can just pick your favorite. They are nice and clean looking.

After reading numerous reviews touting "hot oil" on a pizza, my first thought was of an old movie, The Hunchback of Notre Dame (the original b & w, 1939 version), where Quasimodo dumps cauldrons of hot oil from the parapets of the old cathedral onto the hoi polloi below. All this in an attempt to save the peasant girl, Esmeralda, (played by a young Maureen O'Hara, truth be told, my first crush) from being burned at the stake. Back to the pizza...NOOOO, not oil produced at a very high temperature causing mouth-roof burn. It's pepper-infused hot oil. And, it is just the right amount of heat. My foodie friend, Pots & Pans, and I are gaining weight eating our way through all the iconic pizza parlors in CT. This is definitely one of them. On a recent listing by The Daily Meal of the 101 best pizzas in the USA, Colony Grill ranked 43rd. We both agreed the pizza (all one size) is very excellent. The crust is super thin, just a little charred on the bottom. Definitely not chewy. The cheese was excellent, as was the sausage which we both ordered. It was definitely a unique experience that, we both agreed, was 5-star worthy. Note that The Colony Grill has four locations in CT. We ate at the Norwalk location in a very warm, clean, inviting setting. Our server, Kelly, was great. All protocols for COVID were followed. Two things to end on: (1) Pots & Pans, as per norm, eats pizza with a knife & fork, and (2) it would've been so much better if Esmeralda was sitting across from me, instead of Quasimodo. Overall, TCG is definitely on our dance card for future dances!

Can't say this enough but 5 STAR. we showed up with a party of 12 including 5 kids and were seated promptly and had a comfortable space in a family friendly yet upscale pizza restaurant. The server was great and attentive. Everything came out timely and cooked to perfection. Pizzas were so good that after order 6 different pizzas for the table we ordered 1 more for the table and one to go. They called them personal size but two people could easily split a pie. Ingredients were fresh too! Drinks weren't the greatest. But acceptable. I get an old fashioned at most places I go to and this was probably the only thing I wouldn't rave about in the place. Bathrooms were even clean, which to me always is indicative of a clean front and back of house.

Talk about last minute birthday decisions! So last year on my birthday I had a friend order…read moretakeout and we had it at their house. This year for my 35th, I was on my own for dinner this time around. That being said, I think I found a winner here to celebrate my 35th birthday. Say hello to Lazy Sister, located in the heart of South Norwalk where the restaurant scene comes alive! Because I was a single coming in, I was seated right away, no reservation needed. They were even kind enough to place my bag in the atrium so that I wouldn't have it in the way. I was seated at a table set for two, but it's a good thing I guess that I came on my own. First thing I notice upon coming in is that it is a very classy restaurant, not your typical dim sum joint. It's also not a big space, but that's fine by me. Honestly, this would make a great date night spot for anyone going out on a date. Funny enough, I was actually suggested this place by my friend the night I went to Jacob's Pickles. For reasons I am about to get to, I am glad I decided not to come here until a later date. So why would I say that? Well, because tonight, my order consisted of two Junmai Genshu "Little Sumo" sakes as well as the Salt & Pepper Calamari, a medium level Dry Fry Style Szechuan Chicken, and then the Fortune Cookie Soft Serve for dessert. Not only did I pay more here, but I also got more inebriated here than I did at Jacob's Pickles. But it's my birthday, so tonight it's not in my contract to care. You only live once, and I am already in like the middle of my life, so it all evens out, right? Speaking of the food, everything I ate was immaculate! The calamari was seasoned perfectly, vegetables were cooked and crisp, the spice from that Szechuan didn't overpower. It was more like a pleasant tingle, especially when mixed with water or sake. Everything was done just right. And that soft serve cooled me down in just the right way. Delicious and well worth finishing off the night! And while there were other drinks that definitely looked good, I couldn't say no to sake. That's like THE ultimate celebratory drink far as I'm concerned, and it was awesome! If you were wondering about the service, these people are quite friendly. They help you through anything you might need. While I waited a while to tell them, I did eventually tell my waitress it was birthday while I was on dessert. Cool enough, we are both Tauri! I love it when I get to talk to another Taurus! :) The bill was also why I am glad I waited for another occasion to come here. Because I decided to splurge, the affair was about $100 once tip was factored in. It was well worth it, and tonight's outing will definitely make for a fun story to tell. But 34 was a hard year. I deserve to let loose every now and then, and hopefully 35 will be a happier age. All in all, a great restaurant and well worth the money to come here.

The bartender was knowledgeable and I trusted him with recommendations. We ordered egg rolls and the wontons in chili oil. Everything was tasty, wish the chili oil was more spicy but the flavor was amazing. Day two I sat at a table and ordered the cherry cola, veggie lo mien, and crispy beef. My friends ordered the spring rolls, sesame chicken, and chicken and broccoli. The server accidentally put in a plain lo mien but it was quickly fixed. Both were tasty but it was better with veggies. All entrees were okay. It's your typical local American Chinese food cuisine and I didn't taste or see any difference to it? It did taste a bit more fresh but I wouldn't order again. Overall, the service was good and the ambiance is nice. I prefer this place as a restaurant for yummy drinks and apps before dinner or after work.

I'm no foodie but I am Chinese/Japanese and can appreciate finer things in life when I see it. This place meet and exceeded my expectations. The wonderful speak-easy tamaki-ya room in the back is warmly lit and held at a nice volume, much quieter than the izakaya bar in the front. For small bites we had the Beet n Hijiki salad (highly recommend!), Agedashi tofu, and Torched Maine uni. For hand-rolls I had the Spanish Mackerel, Hokkaido Scallops, Ocean Trout, BBQ Eal & Foie Gras, and Cucumber ume. My wife had the Maine Uni, Hamachi, and Botan Ebi. Everything was good, but there were quite a few that were very good, and there were two that, for me, were the best that I've ever had in recent memory. For the Spanish Mackerel Chef Taibe put an interesting spin on it by topping it off with a traditional Chinese ginger and scallion garnish used in a tender chicken dish. It works, it balances out the briny taste of Spanish Mackerel... which is great... unless you LOVE the briny, savory, mineral, metallic, umami taste of fresh Spanish Mackerel :) The Hokkaido Scallops was, by quite a large margin, the best scallop dish I've ever had. The tender sweetness of the fresh scallop combined with a brown butter kewpie (how American!) and yuzu tobiko sauce swimmingly. Texture, temperature, taste, all perfect. I like eel and I love Unaju. But by far the biggest surprise was the BBQ Eal & Foie Gras (see pic). This dish alone warrants a culinary course. On the face of it, bbq, eel, foie gras all sets you up for something rich, filling, heavy. But when I bit into the unassuming hand roll, it was the lightest bite of Japanese rice/seafood/seaweed/liver/sauce combo I've ever had. Turns out Chef Taibe prepared the sauce from scratch using five+ different spices, and prepared the foie gras au torchon. I could go on, but suffice to say, this was one of the best bites I've ever had. By contrast, I thought I was going to close out with the cucumber ume roll, but compared to the eel and foie gras, the ume actually felt more overpowering. Perhaps if they cut back on the generous amount of ume paste... (Worthy mention: Chef Taibe presents the nori in a separate envelope. This seemingly simple step is crucial to the taste and mouthfeel of the hand roll. It provides a wonderful fresh crisp crunch to every bite and it does indeed make a difference. He mentioned he sources a special nori but I forgot the details, just know that it's really good) My wife loves uni, and I'll let her describe her experience (which she won't) but it was so good she had to order a second one. As if you need more convincing, we had a great experience and I think you will too. Bravo Chef, well done

The cocktail program is seriously one of the best in the area. Creative without being gimmicky, balanced, and clearly inspired by Japanese ingredients and technique. Every drink feels thoughtful and well executed -- the kind of place where you actually want to work your way through the menu. The food is where it really shines. The chef-owner's love of Japanese cuisine comes through in every detail. The yakitori program is outstanding and deeply traditional -- using all parts of the chicken the way it's done in Japan. It's respectful, intentional, and absolutely delicious. You don't often see that level of authenticity and execution locally. The bar bites are some of the best around. The fried chicken sando is one of my personal favorites -- perfectly crispy, juicy, balanced, and craveable. And the ramen? No one can hold a candle to it. The broth is deeply flavorful and layered, the noodles are spot on, and every topping feels purposeful. It's the kind of bowl you think about the next day. Perhaps the best kept secret in all of Norwalk is the back room -- the elegant Temaki-Ya. Tucked away behind an unmarked entrance, this intimate hand-roll bar feels almost like discovering a hidden Japanese speakeasy. The atmosphere is quiet and refined, the kind of place that's perfect for a special date night or a memorable evening with friends. The temaki (hand rolls) are beautifully composed, with thoughtful ingredient combinations that balance texture, flavor, and visual appeal. What makes this place special is the dual experience -- lively izakaya vibes in the front, elegant hand-roll bar in the back -- all tied together by serious culinary skill and genuine hospitality. Norwalk is lucky to have this spot.
