I've only ever had dessert from Romanacci and that was always a good experience, so we decided to grab dinner before an event. I was so disappointed in the quality of the food. I understand that this restaurant is the casual restaurant between the two (Osteria), but casual does not mean low quality. Everything tasted like it was made a day before and reheated. Nothing tasted as though it was from scratch. I was honestly so puzzled by this because the restaurant itself is stunning, ideal, really beautiful. I have been to their Trumbull location numerous times b/c it's by my home. Unfortunately, they do not have free soda refills like this location. I also been to the Westport train station location. Westport has these Cheeto mozzarella sticks that none of the other locations I go to has. They don't have pasta though. My cuz & me came here after seeing the giant WWE championship belt in Stamford. She's from NYC but visits me from time to time. She loves Romanacci & asked if we can go here. I said sure. We got there it really wasn't busy. We sat in a booth.I ordered a cheese personal pie. She ordered a half cheese/half broccoli rabe. We both ordered Cokes. Our food came out. It was delicious as always. The waitress was inattentive & both my cuz & me had to call her over for a soda refill. The inside has cool decor & the other side has couches to sit on & eat w/ glass tables. I've been a regular at Romanacci's for the past three years, and I truly believe they serve some of the best pizza in Connecticut. Having tried Frank Pepe's (Fairfield) and Sally's in (New Haven), I can confidently say that Romanacci's is an underrated gem. I tried both the Plain Cheese Pizza and the Hawaiian Pizza--the Hawaiian was a solid 9.6/10, and the cheese came in at 9.3/10. Highly recommend giving it a try! read more

The staff was friendly and honest. This place used to be great for GF/celiacs. Now, not so much. They revamped the menu and simplified it. Almost nothing is marketed as GFO. The only safe thing is the gf pizza. The old manager used to bend over backwards to be helpful to celiacs/gf! Guess not anymore!! read more

Wife and I tried this pizza place for our first time at the Norwalk, CT. It's sort of an express type eatery layout at the mall. Friendly staff with overall good service. We had the mushroom and marinara pizza and a couple of side orders. Food was very good and temperature was exactly how I like it. You can in sit nearby at a couple of large tables to dine. The only problem I had was they had no ice for the soda that was warm. They need to remove the drinks from where it sits outside an open refrigeration container. They should either purchase an enclosed refrigerator to keep drinks cold or have ice available for the customers would be my suggestion. Home of slab pizza. The extra large is football field sized, so be forewarned. The pies here are square like Sicilian pizza. The mushroom and hot oil are standouts. I would recommend Romanacci pizza if you're entertaining a large party or family gathering at home. My recommendation goes without saying that the pizza is very good, worth taking home in the first place! The pies also travel and reheat well, unlike thin-crust pizza, especially margarita pizza. I love the following cocktails: Mother of dragoons Coco loco And the bourbon with aperol (can't recall the name) Do any of those with the penne ala vodka and you have the very best meal. Went into Romancci's for a quick casual.dinner with a friend last Wedneday. It was about 7:45 and there were still people in the outdoor seating area and inside, about 75% full on a weeknight. Staff great as always. My friend had a salad with grilled chicken which she enjoyed. I felt.like being bad after our walk on the beach, so I had the truffle fries and mozzarella en carrozza. The fries were very truffly with a great dipping sauce. The mozzarella dish came out like a lasagna, the large piece of fried mozzarella smothered in tomato sauce with large shavings of Parmesan on top. I expected the mozzarella on top of some sauce, but this was unexpected and still sooo good. I really enjoyed my meal. Romanacci has stayed consistently good through the years. read more

My wife and I went to Romanacci's for an early dinner. She had just been there recently and had an appetizer and fries and thought it was good. Well she got the red sangria to drink and said it was very good I had the happy hour beer special of 1 beer and second was half off. Our waitress was very friendly. We ordered the potato croquettes off the happy hour menu but they never showed. The waitress apologized for forgetting to enter it into the system. We also ordered the mozzarella en carrozza. It was absolutely delicious. We each ordered a small pizza. I got the shrimp scampi my way without the cherry peppers. My first bite had a great garlic flavor but the rest of the pizza was just ok. My wife got the marinara pizza and said the carmelized onion made it too lsweet. Parmesan curls that were on the appetizer would have balanced out the sweetness very well. One of her slices was also burnt black on the bottom. So we would go back but not for the pizza. We would love to try more of the appetizers. read more

We don't usually write reviews whether good or bad, but today created a Yelp account to dispel all the good reviews for this hack of a restaurant. We tried to give this restaurant a chance - 3 CHANCES to be exact - but last night was definitely the last! Maybe they have okay pizza...maybe. Here's the rundown of all the menu items we ordered throughout our 3 chances that were disappointing: - Arancini, $10.00: For the price we expected 1-2 palm sized rice balls stuffed with well seasoned meat and cheese. We received 3 tiny balls, maybe 1" in diameter, sopping with oil, filled with a tiny bit of some kind of meat with a side of Vodka sauce. Disgusting! - Nutella Donuts, $8.00: We received 3 tiny donuts, again about 1" in diameter, sopping with oil and overwhelmed with Nutella, as if it is hiding the mediocrity of the donuts. I'd rather stuff 6 Dunkin donuts in my mouth than ever taste or pay for this garbage again. - Assorted 1/2 doz "home made" Biscotti, $6.00: If you have ever had the pleasure of biscotti, do not order this. We received 6 itty bitty, colorful, square cookies. NOT the biscotti you'd expect. They were flavorless, gritty, and had a weird aftertaste indicative of chemicals and preservatives...just like mass-produced baked goods. These are not home made! You'd be better off going to the local gas station and buying the Nonni's brand for 1/3 of the price. - La Bufalina Salad, $16.00: 1/4 cup of arugula drenched in vinegar, 1 close to rotten tomato cut in quarters, and a stale ball of extremely salty fresh mozz with a hard rind on it for $16.00?? WTH?!? GTFOH with that garbage! - Gnocchi Piatto, $20.00: "Homemade gnocchi sauteed with our famous Bolognese sauce," as the menu states. THIS WAS THE MOST OFFENSIVE DISH! When I opened the takeout container and saw it I immediately felt like I was acting out an angry Joe Pesci in Goodfellas or Casino. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING homemade about this dish!! The gnocchi was chewy, overboiled, not sauteed, and so obviously not homemade. What they are passing off as "famous bolognese" is a poor red sauce with crumbled hamburger. Where is the onion? Carrots? Garlic? Bay leaf? Heavy cream? Sauteed and well seasoned beef? It looked, smelled, and tasted like it came from a can of Chef Boyardee. Homemade gnocchi and bolognese sauce is not that hard to make ESPECIALLY with the plethora of recipes and videos online. I regularly make real, homemade ricotta gnocchi and bolognese from scratch using fresh ingredients. It's a simple dish and I use it to gauge the quality of similar offerings at all restaurants. THE OWNERS/OPERATORS/CHEFS SHOULD BE **EMBARRASSED** WITH THIS BOWL OF GARBAGE AND FOR CHARGING $20.00!! You want a real bolognese? Go to Arthur Ave. Or better yet, save your money and come to my house on a Sunday, and my only charge to you is to wash the dishes after. Bottom line: Don't waste your money on this hack of a restaurant unless you like paying high prices for garbage. read more
