I went in today for my annual diabetic eye exam. The wait was ridiculous, as always. When I finally got called back, the tech mentioned checking my glasses. I asked very clearly if this appointment was ONLY for my diabetic exam. She said yes. Then she proceeded to give me a full regular eye exam I never asked for. After that, they dilated my eyes and dumped me in a crowded holding area with seven other people, waiting again. Eventually I get put in another room, wait even longer, and a doctor finally comes in and rushes through the rest of the exam like he's on autopilot. I get to the front desk and the woman tells me I owe $114. For what? She says, "the exam and the diabetic exam." Then she tells me my insurance doesn't cover the regular exam. I remind her that I asked before anything even began whether this was ONLY the diabetic exam, and I was told yes. Suddenly it becomes, "Well, since you're a new patient, we always do a regular exam too." Funny how no one bothered to mention that BEFORE doing it. And instead of taking responsibility, she blames the scheduling department -- because of course they do. Passing the buck seems to be their only consistent skill. Then when I asked if my EyeMed insurance would cover anything, she said, "You'll have to ask them." Excuse me? I handed them BOTH of my insurance cards. Any competent office verifies insurance BEFORE sending someone to checkout with a surprise bill. My mom has been a patient there too, and every appointment with her was the same nonsense -- long waits, excuses, and employees who act like they're being inconvenienced by you existing. The only reason I even gave this place a chance is because the provider I actually WANTED to see was booked out for months. This place is a mess, the staff is dishonest or clueless (or both), and they clearly do not care about patients at all. RUN -- do not walk -- in the opposite direction of this place.

When my procedure was first done, the recovery time for the eye on which he did Lasik felt like no time at all. After decades of glasses and contacts, I was able to open my eyes when I woke up in the morning and be able to see clearly and not chastise myself for sleeping in my contacts. The PRK-eye had a longer recovery time, but even after all these years, my vision has not deteriorated and I have not experienced any issues or side effects from the procedure or the care I've received since then. Anytime a glasses-wearer I know tells me they are contemplating Lasik, I always recommend Dr. Mazaheri. I believe in the quality of his care but also the comfort of being able to go back to the same doctor who performed the surgery, who can remember me even after years of living out of state. I know others who went to other Lasik centers and never saw the same doctor twice. I want my doctor to know me and know my vision history and to be supportive of maintaining my eye health and the excellent outcome of his surgical work.

Overall, I'm super pleased with the services that I received from the M Lasik Center. (Surgery date…read more- May 2021) The knowledge and experience Dr. Mazaheri exhibits is expansive and reassuring, especially to people like me who have (had) a heavy eye glass prescription (-9.25 and -11). I went in as a borderline unsuitable candidate for PRK and he was confident I could get near perfect vision. No one should promise you perfect vision as every case is different, and eyes react to surgery differently. But the hope always remains for perfect vision, and, in most cases, people do reach 20/20 or better with PRK and LASIK. I was completely expecting to leave with a light prescription, and I was fine with that because the correction was so huge. My main goal was to stop wearing coke bottle glasses! I will have to wear driving glasses at some point, but that's it. I'm not using them now as I'm still in the recovery phase which can last a few more months. My vision ended up being around 20/25 after 5 months, which is suitable to me. It continues to get better as I heal. I still need reading glasses (LASIK cannot solve this as a whole) as nearly everyone over 45 needs them, however I was surprised that my reading glasses magnification level went down as well, which is a relief. That was a nice surprise. Dr. M. also caught some potential problems with my eyes that other yearly optometrist appointments missed, so I'm happily following up on that with a retina specialist. Dr. Mazerheri is very thorough, and on my surgery day, we checked my vision (to get the right numbers into the computer), no less than 4 times on different machines. The staff prepped me well for recovery over the weekend after the surgery and I never had any questions because they left anything out. The staff is super nice, accommodating, and they have their office running like a well-oiled machine. The only thing I disliked about the entire experience has nothing to do with Dr. M. The building his office is in has a couple issues (Campbell office). The doors are VERY heavy, and elderly people can have difficulty opening them. The building owner needs to put a couple thousand into updating and fixing the women's restroom because it had badly torn wallpaper and the toilets rocked.

Following surgery, my husband wore special UV-blocking glasses full-time for several weeks and returned for quick, painless in-office light sessions. These treatments precisely adjusted the lens shape and power to meet his individual vision needs, including nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Once the desired vision is achieved, a final "lock-in" treatment stabilized the results. The process is done one eye at a time. My husband is experiencing clear vision much sooner than Dr. Warren originally anticipated and is already going in this week to have his second eye done. From start to finish, his experience has been outstanding. Every member of the team was professional, kind, and attentive. Appointments were efficient, well-organized, and we truly felt cared for throughout the entire process. The surgery center itself is state-of-the-art, equipped with the latest technology. See my pics! We are extremely grateful for the exceptional care and would highly recommend this team to anyone considering this type of surgery.

I know this goes against social media tendencies -- but enough about me. Jaisy grew up where she works. She is a product of Mesquite school systems. When my spouse set an appointment at an optomitrist associated with Target I was a bit skeptical. I was in for a huge surprise. The place is small. A waiting area is NOT their strong point. Now that I have the negative exposed, let's talk about the total experience. Obiaderi Osakwe aka Obi, is the office manager and the first contact upon arriving for your appointment. She is one smart cookie. She plans to attend medical school. She has worked for Dr. Kastner, O.D. for quite some time. This tells me that a human with a biology degree. working as a receptionist/office manager, seems out of line -- not if you're going to medical school --- a human with a well thought out plan. I can't help but admire her. *** My #4 daughter is a surgeon, I know what it takes *** Dr. Kastner is also a sharp, well designed human. I was impressed with her not being impatient with me for having teary eyes that make it difficult to pick the best lens. Let me tell you why I decided to write the review -- from what I've seen by her previous reviews, she really doesn't "need" mine. Here's why I am here writing this to you. I'm 75 years young. While I have stage 4 pancreatic cancer, I still have plenty of life left in me -- thankful for each day. It finally happened to me -- my cataracs where at a point where they needed surgery. After the deed was done, I had what felt like a piece of sand in my eye. The surgery folks probably thought I was trying to get something for free from them. They disavowed having anything to do with it and washed their hands of the whole affair. At my next exam appointment, Dr. Kastner took about 30 seconds to tell me I had a small sty (I hope I'm calling it the right thing, it was very small outgrowth that shouldn't be there). I'm not blaming anyone from the other company, though I'd never recommend them to anyone I liked. The bottom line is -- I received excellent care from Dr. Kastner and attention to detail from Ms. Osakwe. They make an excellent pair. I can't recommend this duo enough. PS You don't have to take your eye prescription next door to the Target shop.
