I was looking for a nearby place to get transition lenses and came across Forney Eye. The staff are so nice, patient and accommodating. They have all your name brand options as well as more budget friendly options. I ended up scheduling an eye exam as well as purchasing transition lenses. I will never let FEA fill my prescription again. 3 weeks after my order was placed, I had the not received any update on my order.When I called them I was informed my lenses were scratched so bad they had to redo the lenses. 4 weeks after the order was placed I still had not been contacted in any form of an update. I called again. They said it will take another week. 5 weeks after I placed my order, I was notified by text message they are ready to be picked up at 3:45 on Friday. They close at 5:00. I picked them up the following Monday. They forgot to put the transitional tint on the lenses. I returned them the next day to have the tint installed on them. 7 weeks later after my initial order I received my glasses. I had to return to the store due to some wire hanging down from the top of one of the lenses. There is not a manager there so you end up dealing with a receptionist. I was only informed of any update twice only because I let the receptionist know when calling to get an update. When I called, the receptionist acted like it was an inconvenience to give me an update on my order. Horrible customer service. FEA will not get my business in the future. read more

I recently purchased eyeglasses from Forney Eye Associates. The Dr. was great, no complaints with him. I ordered the lenses and frames from them and recently contacted them because the frames I ordered have these nifty magnetic clip-on sunglasses and I wanted to have some extras. After going back and forth, I started digging online to find them on my own as the office was not helping. The image shows what I found online with a portion of my itemized bill layered on top. Second image shows their response when I sent them a screen shot of what I found and that I would not be doing business with them again. I am not disparaging the company, they got one over on me and I need to be much better about "buyer beware". I'm sharing my experience in the interest of helping others avoid this trap. And this isn't limited to this office, and I am sure a lot of places do the same. ***response to owner comment *** Your response was not out of context, it was on top of my response that I would not be doing business with you again. No one from your office attempted to contact me based on my dissatisfaction. Additionally, your staff responded with warranty info that didn't address what I wanted and was a little snarky with "you signed at pickup". A refund was not offered! I was denied. Which I why I had to go get a completely different insurance to get my lenses through a new eye doctor. I broke two lenses from this office and I've had lenses for the last 4 years and none have broken, chipped or had an issue. I only know what o experienced. Cross linking was required because my eyes were rapidly getting worse. I was offered no b2 from your office and I was only diagnosed with keratoconus in 1 eye when it was actually in both. We had an amazing first experience here. My son has been seeing optometrists since he was very young. We've always had great experiences so I was nervous to try a new place this year, but this place is top notch! Dr. Tran was so kind and patient with my eager worm to do all. the. things. Other doctors may have been annoyed or lost his cool - but not Dr. Tran. We talked about the now and the future of what corrective eye care looks like. He explains issues in a way you can understand. The front desk staff was also kind and helpful. When I called to make the appointment, they took our prior records for billing codes and had the referrals from our PCP ready to go when we got there! I didn't have to call our PCP or deal with the hassle. Thank you! I forgot the wonderful older lady's name, but she sat and helped us choose some Nano frames (which is overwhelming itself) even when my kid was loosing his patience for sizing and not understanding that we could not take our new frames home right then. She was so calm and reassuring in those moments. Sometimes as a parent, you just need the reassurance your kid is doing just fine. They have a great gaming area set up for kids to entertain themselves while you wait. I wish we needed to come here more than once a year. read more

Made an appointment to see Dr Joey Tran and followed all his procedures just to make sure my appointment went smoothly.  Got a call the day before my appointment from his office telling me that they couldn't verify that I had any Eyemed insurance at all.  I logged onto the Eyemed website, printed an ID CARD and FAXED it to his office. Called them back only to have the story change to our systems are not updating  patients with EYEMED insurance and we have to call to verify that they have insurance.  It will be 14 days before the data updates.  Do you still want to keep your appointment?  Since she just said they could just call and verify insurance, I'm thinking they could just call for other things like copay amounts too, so I said yes.  Then she says, you'll have to pay the full amount because we can't verify your co-pay amount.  Keep in mind that she never said it you pay in full then once the system updates we'll file with your instance and refund you everything but the cost of co-pay amount(This would have actually been an attempt at good customer service even if she was lying about not being able to determine the co-payment amount with just a phone call).  She also never said once or systems are working, we won't file a claim with the insurance company as well if you pay in full at the time of your appointment. This ever changing story combined with the little details that get left out could actually make a person wonder what's really going on?  I wonder if other EYEMED patients had to deal with this kind of treatment recently? read more

Dr. Tran makes his patients his priority. I have been wearing contacts for 10 years and never knew of good brands that are good for my eyes. My contacts would always get dry after 8 hours, but the ones he suggested were super comfortable even after the 8th hour. He has so many brands available for trials that I knew I would find something perfect for my eyes. The prices are also very very reasonable! He also doesn't charge if you come back to him for a recheck up after an appointment for dry eyes etc, which I think is very ethical. I suggested Dr. Tran to my friends who were going to get their eyes checked in the mall, they thanked me for saving them some money because the prices were right on budget. We all know that after an eye exam, there's extra cost for glasses or contacts, so save yourself some money from the exam! read more

I recently found out that I needed glasses. I stopped in to see what this place offered earlier in the week. I spoke with a lady there. She seemed like she was having a bad day or doesn't like her job one. Had a chip on her shoulder! If you're going to work with the public you need a little more personality and leave your problems outside the door. I don't recall her name but I remember it started with an "S". I'm sure the doctor himself is great. But he really needs to evaluate some of his staff. I just thanked her and left. Took my business elsewhere. read more

Dr. Tran was referred to me by my friends. He is by far the greatest optometrist I've encounter. He takes his time to understand his patients and does everything for his patients' eyecare. I didn't realize that I had an astigmatism until Dr. Tran told me so. He provided all sorts of services for me. I have always had a phobia of wearing contacts, but Dr. Tran encouraged me to give it a try. I was a bit hesitant at first, but he was great at instructing and giving me all the info I needed to know about wearing contacts. He suggested a couple of different contacts for me to wear, and from there I can test out which one really suited me. So my scary first impression about wearing contacts vanished! What's cool from all this is that I got to wear colored lenses for astigmatism. I've heard from my friends that they couldn't wear color contacts because they had astigmatism, but now I can! I personally enjoy coming to here. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. Both Dr. Tran and the ladies are always so informative. Dr. Tran worked really well with my daughter who is 5 and is all over the place. She had some struggles with know certain shapes and letters but he made it work for her. I first saw Dr. Tran when I came in for my annual eye check-up. Unlike other optometrists I have been to in the past, Dr. Tran was very knowledgeable and eager to educate his patients as well. I really hate to do this but I need to knock off two stars. I made an appointment for my two boys and ordered some very expensive glasses for the two of them. When the first pair of glasses arrived, I went to pick them up. They were handed to me over the front desk counter. I put them on my son,I thought they looked ok, asked for a case and we left. About a week later, same exact thing happened for my other sons glasses. I have purchased glasses so many times I have lost count. I am used to sitting down with someone, having them look at the glasses and make any necessary adjustments. I don't fault the front staff really because maybe they weren't trained. The front staff has always been very courteous to me. The picking up glasses portion just seemed rushed and not very customer service friendly. It's a shame since I love this office, and the staff but after dropping good money on two pairs of glasses with ho hum follow up, I don't think I will be back. Please train your front desk staff to sit down with customers, look at glasses on the customer and make adjustments if needed. Recommendations for glasses for children based on size or face shape would be a nice touch as well. read more

I am so glad that I found Dr. Tran. I had lasik-induced keratoconus and the only remedy I knew of was RGP lenses, which caused me continual torment, because of my severe dry eyes. I had only recently heard of Sclera lenses as a solution for those with dry eyes and/or keratoconus, when I set out on a mission to find a doctor in the DFW area I felt comfortable with. I narrowed my search to a handful - some were recommended and some I found via an internet search. I interviewed each of the doctors in my search list. All were impressive, but there was something special about Dr. Tran's answers. His concern for my suffering was readily apparent in his answers and in his questions back to me. I knew he was the doctor for me. He made every accommodation to my quirky scheduling problems, which I found quite refreshing. He could not have been more pleasant nor have been more thorough in his exam. Sclera lenses require several fittings and he patiently listened to my every concern. The result: my fitting and eyesight are perfect. I can wear the sclera lenses all day long without discomfort. The bottomline is this: If you need correction, you can be assured that you will get a thorough and very competent exam and fitting with Dr. Tran. I heartily recommend him. read more

I went to Dr Tran for the first time just as a walkin - for contact lens and he informed me I had an astigmatism - and I have been wearing contacts for over 20 years and never have been told I had an astigmatism, I explained to him I had trouble seeing at night and so he took the extra step during the exam to discover the astigmatism. The contacts he prescribed are awesom and I can now drive at night without being blinded by the glare of the other vehicles. He's great read more

Blame Customer Service, Not Doctors' Care . Quality customer service is very important. I had experience great top service until it came down to ordering glasses for my children this was a very unpleasant exp. I was told they would be ready in 2 wks n someone would call, but after 2 1/2wks no one called I followed up since I never heard from the staff n got the run around for another wk that they were in transit, then lost, then the order was never placed. I mean every excuse. still gave them the benefit of the doubt and told my husband to go for his 1st visit given that the docs provide excellent service however now the same thing is happening with his order which his on wk 2 waiting for an order that seems was not placed correctly. ugh!!! read more

I have been wearing corrective lens for most of my life and over the past several years I've been told that I'm not a candidate for contact lens. Recently I visited Dr. Tran and found him to be extremely professional, personal and friendly which is unlike any of the previous physicians I've been to. He actually took the time to asked detailed questions about my vision and listened to my answers and concerns which was followed by an extensive exam. He found that I don't have a astigmatism as I had been previously told that I had and that yes I am a candidate for contact lens. He gave me several pairs at no charge to take home and try for a few weeks just to make sure I would be satisfied with them prior to purchasing any contacts. I now have contacts that give me the sight and comfort that I have been wanting all due to Dr. Tran! I have the highest regard for him due to his level professionalism, expertise and true concern for his patients well being. So I have been told that I do not have qualifying insurance when my provider BCBS national has listed that I do. The second time in six months I am needing an exam because the glasses that are so not right and have never been corrected I can't see out of. I need these to drive per a restriction on my license. I have tried so many times to get a resolve or even have them honor my insurances but NO the don't even though they should. I even have Cigna. The Dr. is listed as in network, and the glasses qualify also. Either way thought I would tell others of this mess so they may reconsider and save the hassle. Good Luck! read more

I don't typically do reviews of service providers as they are subject to mood and demeanor of everyone at the time of the visit. They are not necessarily about a product quality. However, in the case of my visit with Forney Eye Associates I felt compelled to write a review. First the doctor didn't provide the normal expected eye exam. No retina photo or dilation was offered or done and is usually part of a comprehensive annual exam. Dr. Tran informed me my eyes were better and I needed a RX less aggressive. Then the big rub comes the process of selecting glasses within my insurance coverage cost category. I have two coverages where this doctor and clinic were listed as "In Network providers". The cost were not clear and very confusing. My questions were not addressed and I've had many fitting over the years and the process was not painful or unclear as to exactly what I was paying for. In fact one the of few visits where I had to pay. Additionally it will take two weeks to make simple bifocal eye glasses. I have two insurance polices and although they agreed to file one and not the one that is my primary and they filled out the paper work for the other...they didn't do it properly and didn't represent the cost correctly on the forms. I felt that they were deceptive and not honest. Additionally I felt they didn't comply with Rules in 279 which applies to requirements of Optometrist. So needless to say I'll be finding and a new clinic next year to service my eye care needs. read more

Dr. Tran is such a cool guy, the first time I came to Greyner Optical I was looking for some new contacts to replace my old ones, which my doctor had recommended but resulted in my eyes getting dried up pretty quickly.
