We have been coming here for some years and I have highly recommended Dr Chapman to many. However sadly as others have commented below the front staff have a complete dissregard for how to treat patients and potential new patients. I have vision coverage via my place of employment but wanted to know what my supplemental coverage covered and asked the front staff to look into this from the time I booked my appointment a week prior to the time I came into the office for our appointment. I received a text from them stating our visit was covered so I called to ask about the discount and they told me that our visit was covered. At this point I figured I would again ask them when I came in for our appointment in person. So today when we came in I asked them again and the front ladies stated that they didn't check it (even though I asked them too)! So I asked them if they could check it because my daughter in law wanted to come in as a new patient. At this point they said we do not take that and I pulled up the discount site and showed them where Dr Chapman was at the TOP of the list of providers that accepted it. Then they both just looked away and acted as if they didn't care one bit! It's sad because Dr Chapman is great but with staff like this who do not seem to care one bit he just lost a potential new patient and quite possibly my family of five... read more

Dr Chapman has been great in the past, but I am not sure I will return after this last visit. We had two appointments back to back, and they processed us quickly and had us in rooms. However, they did not verify my client's insurance, so they did that while Dr. Chapman saw me. They never checked my old glasses for my rx, so after Dr. Chapman saw me, he said he would get that and let me know. My client needed glasses, so their pitch was $150 for the single lenses if you picked from their selection of frames. We chose two and had been told by the dr they would be ready same day or next day. Today, a week out, I was notified by the office that they received one set of lenses and one pair is ready but the frames don't match the lenses they sent and we needed to come pick another pair. We don't live in the neighborhood and I was not ready to start over. I feel like they wanted to dump cheap frames that were old and couldn't sell and made lots of promises they could not keep. Dr. Chapman never came back to me after receiving my rx to explain anything, any plan for treatment of my dry eyes or any precautions or issues. Not sure what happened, but this was our first visit since he moved away from Northpark and is most likely our last. read more

I've been going to Dr. Chapman for years and I think he's a great doctor. I recently saw Dr. Chapman and while I was there, went ahead and got new frames/lenses. Picking out the frames started out great, the young guy was very helpful with that part. But then when we got into the lenses and all the coatings that are available, I felt like the guy was just trying to upsell me on everything. He went into in-depth descriptions on everything, and I didn't really have time to listen to his whole thing. I've been wearing glasses since I was a kid, so I don't need to be sold. I know what I want. It was very frustrating, because I came in on a Saturday, and who really wants to spend time on a day off work to be upsold on something they don't necessarily want? It honestly felt like a used car salesman trying to sell me something. Most likely won't return because of this experience. read more

I'm not originally from Dallas and so I've put off getting my eyes checked because eye exams can get expensive and sometimes doctors do a lazy job. Dr. Chapman was amazing! I didn't wait at all and he spent a good 25 minutes checking my eyes. The first pair of contacts he had me try on weren't giving me 20/20 so he re-checked my eyes and suggested that I go ahead and spring for the contacts that correct for an astigmatism. He was incredibly thorough, really interesting to talk to and didn't try to trick me into getting my eyes dilated or any of the other Optometrist scams that end up slapping you with a huge bill you never saw coming... especially because you came in with crappy vision already. I paid $125 for both the glasses and contacts prescriptions. And I finally have that 20/20! read more

How long have I been coming here to get my eyes checked? Seven, eight years? A really long time! This place is awesome and it's conveniently located inside Northpark mall so when you're done getting your eyes checked you can go shop and clearly see what you're buying. What I really like about Dr. Chapman is that he doesn't push certain brands of contacts, he suggests a few and let's you try out the contacts so you can get familiarized with them. Tony Chapman has been my optometrist since 2007. He is an excellent optometrist who has made an extra effort to upgrade his services and offer in depth eye exams. His rates are average, he accepts Medicare and other vision insurance, and he gets my prescription right every time. It was my first visit for a comprehensive eye exam so I was hesitant to say the least. The staff was extremely helpful in all the paperwork that needed to be done before the appointment. I was even taken in a few minutes early. I had been having some issues with my eyes so I needed to have an exam so my SO uses this doctor and has been very happy with him. Dr. Anthony Chapman was very friendly and explained the entire process about what they would be doing and he was just great. I wear both glasses and contact lenses and Dr. Chapman is adept at providing me comprehensive options for both. Dr. Chapman let me know several years before I required progressive lenses that at a certain age, they would be necessary for me. He knows that I'm a big reader and prepared me for this eventual shift in eye care. I feel comfortable discussing other health ailments that I have with Dr. Chapman, and he's been very thorough at advising me how these conditions can affect my ocular health. Dr. Chapman is great have been coming here for years to get my eyes check. The Doctor Is great, and always does a great job when attending to his patients needs however the front desk receptionist have an attitude the last couple of times and gave away an appointment I was 2 minutes late to. Granted I shouldn't have been late but at least give some notice or wait 5 minutes is just rude. I was not told when I checked in that my appointment had been given away and had to ask before I was notified what happened. read more

I have been going to Dr. Chapman for 3 years now and have always loved the service I have gotten here. But I have to say that this office blew me away yesterday with the level of care that they provide to patients. I was out of town and had forgotten my contact lenses and was frantically searching for a place that would give me samples. I finally found one but they needed a faxed version of my prescription with a minor change in order to give them to me. I called Dr. Chapman's office and they made the change and faxed over the prescription within 15 minutes. Amazing! They went above and beyond. Love love love! I recently moved to Dallas and found this eye doctor in the mall. He was kind and very confident in what he was telling me. I have a VERY strong eye prescription and he made me feel at ease. He even moved me to a much less expensive contact brand that is more breathable. Yes he is a really nice doctor, but not really great. He didn't even know I had astigmatism in my left eye. Then to top it off once he wrote my contact prescription, he did not write astigmatism on it. I don't even want to buy glasses with his prescription, I am afraid he did it wrong. I've been a patient of Anthony Chapman for years. Unfortunately, I will be taking my business elsewhere. Although, I find Dr. Chapman a great optometrist with a professional presence, I cannot say the same for the front desk. When I called to initially make my appointment the woman who booked my appointment was not particularly helpful. She just didn't sound professional and responded to my call as if it were an inconvenience. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, as we all have bad days. However, I was running a few minutes behind for my appointment this morning, and called ahead of time to give notice and to see if it was okay. The woman who answered my call said it would be no problem. Once I arrived (a mere 10 minutes late) I was told that I could wait and they would work me in "at some point today". That sounded really ambiguous to me. I do have a job and only took off the time I needed for this morning's appointment, so I attempted to clarify what that meant. They said "maybe 12:30". Again, too ambiguous. So I said "maybe it's best I book another appointment because I have to go to work". The woman's response was not helpful at all and suggested to come back next week and the body language told me all I needed to know. I simply told her never-mind because I don't want to return for services. Then they gave me a copy of my old items from my file and let me leave. Mind you, I am having vision issues that need prompt attention and there was only ONE other person waiting to be seen. This was an unfortunate situation. Dr. Chapman I know you read these reviews, and I did see you come up front and I wanted to bring this to your attention then. But I'm sure you can understand my desire to just leave your office after that encounter since I've been a loyal patient for years. I'm going to give this review 4 stars instead of a three because the staff was great and Dr. McLean was fantastic. However, when my husband and I went in to pick up our finished glasses, his were obviously not correct. The lenses were made correctly according to the prescription, but there was some disconnect somewhere between the exam and the written prescription. I have worked for a very busy optometrists office so I know this happens. What is not acceptable is when the doctor tells you there is just no way to squeeze you in for a recheck. It doesn't matter if this doctor isn't the same as the original that performed the exam, if a mistake was made by the office, it should be rectified the moment it was discovered. Now he has to wait an entire week before trying to come in just for a recheck, and then the optical dept will have to resubmit the order with the correct prescription, and wait yet another week to pick them (and hopefully they are correct this time). read more
