I had an awful experience at Uptown Vision. I've purchased many pairs of glasses from them over the past 20 years. My last 3 or 4 pairs have been a brand called Swissflex. When I went in today to purchase a new pair they said that they only have a few samples to sell, and that they don't sell that brand anymore, even though they show the brand name on a mirror on their sales counter. I left and called SwissFlex in New York who confirmed that their only distributor in Dallas is Uptown Vision. When I returned to question them again I was escorted out of their store. I will never shop at Uptown Vision again. I will go to Fort Worth to order my new SwissFlex glasses. read more

Fantastic place and really excellent experience. I've used Uptown for both glasses and contacts and started going to Uptown last year when I moved to Dallas. Dr. Chait and the staff have been unbelievable. From when I stepped in to take the first exam, every suggestion and guidance Dr. Chait has provided have been really spot on and perfect. And when I followed up with questions around contacts, Dr. Chait made sure to carefully answer every one and provided great guidance. I started going to uptown Vision when I lived in the area. I have since moved but I continue to go to the office because the service there is top notch. Their selection of frames is amazing and the staff is so helpful, from the staff that greets you to the Doctors. Last year I got the coolest frames that I would have never picked on my own thanks to the patient associate that worked with me, I get compliments on them all the time! I love this place! They have a huge selection of fun and hip glasses. They have some awesome sunglasses for selection with prescription too. And the associates are so helpful. I never knew that the temples (the part that sits on your ears) can be adjusted to sit on your ears better. Jessica helped to adjust the temples, hinges and screws on my glasses. I can't even explain how helpful the team members here are. What I think is super frustrating with any healthcare/insurance provider is cost you pay at the end, is always higher than you expect. The associates (Jessica was helping me today) here were extremely helpful in breaking down prices for me, when I made my payment - it was exactly the number I Anticipated. I bought in a pair of glasses with an outdated prescription. I had to get my prescription fax here and the process was super smooth. I dropped off my old frames and picked up the new frames in less than a week! When I went to pick up my glasses, it wasn't just a 'here are your glasses, bye' process. Jessica checked twice to make sure my glasses sat on my ears properly and wouldn't slide down my face! I also bought in my old pair of ray bans aviators (that had a chipped in the lenses). Jessica also changed the lenses for me with an extra fee! Also, they adjusted the nose pieces for me so it would sit on my face properly. I guess being Asian and having a lower nose bridge, sunglasses/glasses are always hard to find. I've had glasses/contacts for 8 years and I've never been to an eye-care provider that has been as helpful as uptown vision! HIGHLY RECOMMEND COMING HERE! :) read more

This place is fantastic! Not only do they have the best selection of frames in Dallas (and I'd know, I swear I looked at all of them between downtown and 635), but the staff is wonderful as well: very warm, patient, and knowledgeable. I've had the same prescription for over 15 years, so buying a new pair of glasses is an event for me. I was on a mission to get a stylish pair of larger frames; I was missing some serious peripheral vision in my little librarian number. And who would've guessed that they'd be so hard to find! I had some stores that just didn't get it (one woman even asked why I was looking for "manly" frames) and others just didn't have the selection I was looking for. But not Uptown Vision! They have all of the newest, most stylish frames: Oliver Peoples, Barton Perreira, Salt, Chanel, you name it. And to top it off, they constantly have reps from the different lines in the store.... Bonus! But the real kicker is the service. I had a very hard time making up my mind. Brand, style, color, I must have tried on every larger frame in the store. They went above and beyond my expectations to make sure I had the exact frame that I wanted. In the end, they special ordered me a pair in a color they did not carry in the store. I was very impressed with my recent visit at Uptown Vision. It felt very clean, and I was quickly checked in and put in the exam room. When I tried on glasses they set out a tray for me to put all the glasses I tried on so they could clean them. They cleaned the card reader before and immediately after I made my payment. I felt very safe going there for my vision exam. As always, Dr. Henderson was very pleasant. I'm glad my husband found Uptown Vision when we moved to Dallas! read more

I will have to agree with all of the first timers. My experience was great when I first came. Now That I am trying to refill my contacts and because I don't want to order through them at a much higher rate they have completely flipped! I requested an emailed copy of my prescription and waited... nothing! I called back and spoke to another staff member and I was literally told "we have other things to do, we will get to it sometime today!" When I explained that I needed to order them today the staff member just said "yeah, we will get to it." Not cool guys! I was happy to pay above what others in the area charge for great service. That has now digressed and it's not worth paying extra to be treated in such a manner. I will not be going back to this place but will gladly pay extra somewhere else for the service provided. You should really think long term with your clients. And no ill will to the optometrist that took care of me originally, but the front desk service needs to improve! read more

Dr. Henderson is so capable, welcoming, and thorough. I have horrible vision and it embarrasses me but he always makes me feel like its just not a big issue. His staff is so knowledgeable about insurance issues and I never pay for any testing or services out of pocket unless I know exactly what it costs. Dr Henderson is polite, professional and spends a good deal of time explaining your situation and options. You almost feel like he doesn't have other appointments! I try to get regular exams yearly, but since moving and with a busy schedule- It's difficult to find the time. I was in need of help for my dry eyes and I read great reviews about Uptown Vision and Dr. Roshie, so I decided to make an appointment. I am so glad that I did! From the moment I walked in, everyone was extremely professional and attentive. Dr. Roshie saw was very knowledgable, extremely thorough and kind. She explained what I could do to alleviate my symptoms and better protect my eyes from direct air, heat, etc. She sent over an eye drop prescription to my pharmacy which was denied (due to my subpar insurance) and she was so quick to fax over a replacement and/or work with my insurance company to make sure I could get something that fit my budget. In my own experiences, this process itself is very difficult to get through and she made it a breeze. I am so thankful for Uptown Vision and Dr. Roshie.. I had a painful eye situation and within 15 minutes off calling the office, I was sitting with Dr. Henderson and being treated. He was thorough and took care to explain to me my treatment plan. I haven't seen an eye doctor in years, partly because I've never had any issues with my vision, but recently I was like you know what, it's about time I get my eyes checked just to make sure everything checks out --- and I'm so glad I did! I looked up Uptown Vision as I had read and heard good things about them and decided to give them a shot, partly because their office looks super chic and I like their style. Anyhow, I ended up seeing Dr. Roshie to give me an eye exam and she was stellar. She did a great job at helping me understand each step of the process. Turns out I have something going on with one of my eyes, but she put me at ease by explaining the risk factors, what I need to do, and even booked an appointment. I'm so glad she was my doctor, as she answered all my questions, showed me where to research stuff to learn more --- she even looked stuff up on the computer so that I wouldn't get lost in internet wonderworld freaking myself out or reading the wrong stuff. At the end of my appointment, I got outfitted for a slick pair of frames, thanks to Ryan. I've never worn glasses in my life and I'm super excited to sport a new look with these killer frames! The selection was hard as there's so many unique eye pieces to choose from, but with Ryan's help, we chose one that I couldn't be happier with! BEWARE consumers! This is a terrible place of business that tried to charge me 50$ over retail on some Oakley prescription frames. I know this because luckily I verified the retail price at an Oakley store. They did agree to sell the Oakley Plank frames for the retail price of 240$. Unfortunately, two weeks after I placed my order & waited for my lenses to be made they tried to charge me 162$ more dollars saying my insurance wouldn't cover something. After questioning where these additional costs were coming from via multiple phone calls to my insurance company & Uptown Vision. I discovered my insurance company would pay after all and I wasn't supposed to be charged the 162$! Then they refused to fill my prescription & complete the sale! Never in my entire life of wearing glasses & contacts have I had anywhere near such a horrible experience. read more

I recently moved to Dallas and came to this place based on Yelp reviews. I wish I hadn't. Customer service is an afterthought here. They're too busy clicking away on the computer and answering calls. No apology for making me wait. When I called to see how long it would be to change out lenses I was told 1 hour. When I came in to have then swapped I was told it would be ready tomorrow. This was hours before closing. No ownership of the situation was taken by the snarky employee but I was told 'I don't know who told you that but they're wrong'. Great, thanks for having me drive all the way down to be told I was lied to by your own team. I'm afraid the doctors weren't much better. They certainly know what they're doing in their field but they seem to be too busy to care about who the patient sitting in the sit. Churn and burn, they've got better things to do! Maybe they need less patients and then they could focus more on their service. It shows where the customer service standards trickle down from. Since I have VSP, I unfortunately had to use the entire benefit here instead of splitting between the exam there and the other stuff somewhere else. I will admit, they were actually quite helpful in explaining my benefits. I was apologized to for the back-ordered contacts (they said 5 business days, it took 4 weeks, but understandably not their fault). Anyhow, I brought the other service issues up to their attention and they basically just shrugged their shoulders. Well, I do the same to them by posting this and never spending another dime with them. It doesn't help that they are going for the boutique feel and price accordingly. After 3 years without an eye checkup and the curse of the twenty-something-desk-job-14-hours-in-front-of-computer-eye-strain-squint-induced headaches, I made an appointment at Uptown Vision from a friend's recommendation. The staff, especially Jessica, was extremely friendly and helpful. What I love best about Uptown Vision is their business hours. They were able to see me during my lunch hour and then around 5:30pm for a followup. Late afternoon appointments and even Saturday appointments are available, which is ideal for the twenty-something Uptown-er or 18-hour workaholic. And they held to their appointment times. No long waits in the lobby here! Dr. Henderson is professional, friendly, and really stands by his commitment to developing personal relationships with his patients. The one downside is cost. With a contact fitting, new lens prescription, and a new pair of (fabulous) glasses, the expense added up quickly. My insurance did cover a portion, but not all. This could be a real turnoff for a lot of people (and with very good reason). But, for me, a courteous staff, prompt assistance, attentive patient care, and flexibility is well worth it for a gal who will do a lot to avoid the doctor's office. The "one stop shop" is clean, modern, and crisp, much like a boutique art gallery with a hip and fresh collection of glasses as its headlining showcase. It's got a good vibe going. The store has a wide variety of styles and looks to choose from. It is certainly on the upper end of the price scale, but I still think there is a price point for everyone if what you are really looking for is quality and style. (If you are bargain shopping, Wal-Mart would be a better fit.)
