I am so grateful to the Optique team. I woke up with both eyes swollen shut. I was in a panic on what to do. I called the Optique team and they got me in within the hour. Dr. Wang was the absolute best! She explained what caused the problem in detail so I could understand. She prescribed some eye drops. Not only was she knowledgeable she was very personable. Optique has really gone down hill since Dr. Orm sold the practice. The front office staff is horrible...especially Rosa. Rosa promises to order contacts and doesn't. She promised to send out a few sample pairs and did not. She promised to follow up on an order and give me the tracking number and she didn't. The store selections are nice. I agree with what someone wrote their glasses are way overpriced. I've been there 3yrs. I should've learned my lesson after the first time. They take forever to get glasses back. The very first pair I bought took almost 4 weeks to come in. The next year (last yr) it took weeks waiting on my second pair AGAIN! Last summer I took my daughter in to get some glasses (trying to keep hope alive) waited 2 weeks only to find out they were discontinued so we had to wait another two weeks. And now just as recently as February 8th, I had to order a replacement pair of glasses for my daughter and her glasses still have not arrived. It's February 28. Really! Just some basic glasses for a 7 yr old. Their customer service person Nick went out of his way to help but they are god awful at turnaround time...for me. The coating on my glasses is coming off, the lenses are scratched up even though I only used a lens cloth, the frames are Calvin Klein and faded. Time for a new pair. Once my daughter's glasses come not sure I'll continue business here. Even with insurance the markup on glasses and especially my lenses prescription ends up still being very costly. read more

This company is obviously either desperate for money or just plain greedy. Yes, they might accept your vision insurance but they mark up the cost of the frames way over retail and it ends up being more expensive than it would be if you didn't have vision insurance and went to a retailer that doesn't overcharge. When it comes to the lenses everything is an upsell as well. If you plan on shopping here you should really take a look at the retail cost versus what they're charging, it'll shock you. Recently they even scheduled me an appointment that I never requested, haven't been back in since I discovered their pricing scheme last year and they had the nerve to call and guilt trip me for not making the appointment that I never made! Even though they are one of the "in network" optical stores with my vision insurance I'll never do business with them. Shady practices and pushy sales people. read more

Dr. Zellers is awesome. I've had two pairs of eyeglasses made here before but this is my first time seeing a doctor here. I'm very happy with their modern equipment and techniques. (I usually have a series drops and dilation at other places which are painful for me and sticky). Here I still got a great exam without the anxiety. Dr. Zellers makes sure to cover all your concerns and offers great recommendations for dry eyes etc. No puffs of air either. I highly recommend. The receptionist and glasses techs were also very nice. read more

I've had a great experience with Dr. Zellers however I was recently in a bind where I simply needed a few trial pairs of contacts in an emergency situation. I wear -6.5 contacts so blind without them. The front would not help me at all. I ended up going to another place in Dallas that was happy to help. This is not the customer service I expect after being a client for over 7 years. All be said, I'm sorry Dr. Zellers but I will not be coming back because of your front office. read more

Dr. Zellers is awesome. I would would give him 5 stars alone. He was very patient and knowledgeable. I wish I could say the same about the sales associate I had. She was very pushy and gave off the impression like I was wasting her time. I picked out a frame but ordered it in a different color. Two weeks later, I picked up my frames but was very disappointed with them. I asked about a restocking fee/return policy to exchange them. I was told by the same sales associate that All Sales are Final and that was listed on my itemized receipt. Well, I couldn't fact check because I never received an itemized receipt. I only received the Credit Card authorization receipt. Now I'm stuck with $400 subpar frames. Needless to say, I won't be referring anyone nor retiring next year to purchase more frames. read more

I had my annual eye exam this morning and am happy to say that I have found my new eye care center. The ladies that checked me in and out were nice, the tech that did my pre-screening thoroughly explained each step (which was not necessary since I've been in corrective eyewear for 15+ years, but nonetheless appreciated), and the optometrist, Dr. Zellers, was informative and efficient. I was in and out within 45 minutes. Overall, a phenomenal experience! read more

I went for my annual appointment earlier this year and ordered specialty astigmatism contacts directly from the store (note that you have to prepay when you order). After over a month of not hearing from them or receiving my contacts, they discover that the order was never even placed on their side, even though they took my payment and the ball was in their court. I had to wait another month for my contacts, that was 2 months of not having the right prescription. When my contacts finally arrived (after over 2 months), the store had no sympathy and they could have cared less. When I told the receptionist about my problems, it was just laughed off. Don't waste your time or money here - seriously. They lost a loyal customer through this which is a shame because their West Village location is so convenient and Dr. Zellers is great. I'd rather drive somewhere for better customer service and knowing getting my prescription on time is actually a priority rather than the store just getting my payment. This totally ruined my experience and left a terrible taste in my mouth. If it was based solely on Dr. Zellers, I'd still be a customer. I'd recommend that he looks at how the staff treats clients - from the other reviews I've read, it doesn't look like I'm the first to leave because of it. read more

My husband and I have been coming here for our annual vision checkups. I love that I can make appointments online and that the office is open on Saturdays. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful. Dr. Zellers and his staff are knowledgeable and they explain the purpose of procedures as they do them. I'm always in and out of my appointment very quick, which I appreciate! Megan in the eyewear side is very helpful in picking out the right frames to suit your needs. She quickly pulled a bunch of different frames at different price points, gave me plenty of time to try them all on, and handled the ordering in a speedy manner. She also assisted me in having the glasses shipped to my home, since I moved and now live much further from Optique. I'm very excited for my new prescription sunglasses! Parking in this area can be hit-or-miss. I try for street parking right outside the office first, and failing that, I park in the garage near Max's Wine Dive. There is a breezeway that serves as a shortcut from the garage straight to Optique! I'm very happy with my choice to come to this Optometrist. read more

She did a quick and excellent job resetting my nose pieces, which were beginning to slip. They have a great selection of frames, look forward to stopping by for my next pair. From my experience, they sell very cheaply made glasses, that break easily, at an extremely high markup. I've never had a pair of glasses break until I purchased a pair from Optique. Purchased March 10, 2020 with a 1 year warranty. The first pair broke about 6 months in and they were able to have them replaced. The second pair broke in the same exact spot a little over 6 months later, which was 17 days outside my 1 year warranty, and they were unable to help me. I would hold off on purchasing any products from this company. Note: After my first replacement they noted the product was defective. I asked them what would happen if the next pair was also defective and broke outside of the 1 year warranty that begins at the date of purchase. To this they said they had a very good relationship with the manufacturers and if this happened again, they'd be able to assist me. This was false, and seems to have only been stated to satisfy me at the time. read more

I spy with my little eye... a really cool boutique eye office! As an unstoppable nomad, I've never had a steady eye doctor so I looked at Yelp to guide me to find a doctor in Dallas. Cons: They do the air puff test here, which other eye doctors from my travels have told me is obsolete. It's going to take a week to get my glasses. Pros: Hip music- none of that boring smooth jazz He did the air puff test quickly! The frames man is really cool, fashionable, and French and talked me into getting red frames. Mistake? Let's hope I didn't make a $300 mistake- eek! They carry a lot of really cool high-end frames... but watch the price. It's easy to get carried away when the cool French dude assures you of how hot you look. The doctor was quick and efficient. They had a lot of availability for appointments and are open on Saturdays. Bottom line- If I'm in Dallas next year, which I doubt I will be, I'll come back to Optique for my next exam. read more

I love Dr Zellers. He is friendly and doesn't make you feel silly about asking questions. He explains what is happening during your visit and why. He even gave me a suggestion for foggy lenses do to wearing masks. Ha! Weird times. ..which i should also mention their cleaning protocols were on point. He has been my eye doctor for years and I won't go anywhere else as long as he keeps practicing here. All the other staff I have ever encountered here have also been great! read more

I had an annual eye exam scheduled for my routine visit. I made this appointment two weeks in advance! When I checked in they asked my name and immediately told me my insurance "had changed" and " wasn't accepted" I was very taken back and surprised by this because number one I verified my vision insurance was taken at this location and with be being in their appointment book for two weeks was plenty of time to check my coverage. Long story short after they used the loudest demeaning voice and stated I did not have coverage I myself called and verified my coverage and what do you know... I'm covered and my company was $10 All that said customer service is everything to me .. they made me feel horrible I couldn't wait to get out of there. read more

I have been a patient with this clinic since 2016, I have received very good care from Dr. Zellers for years and he is top-notch, by far my favorite eye doctor ever. He is very caring and he listens. This review is not about him. However, I am discussed with the front desk, their attitude and the appointment system they have in place as of the last year or so. If I make an appointment I show up, I do not need a text, email and phone call every other day for two weeks in advance of my appointment as a reminder. I am a responsible human and I feel this over arching reminder system is annoying and in a world where text messages, phone calls and emails are constant from spam and phishing attacks, we as humans will just ignore them, it is just simply too much, please stop. Apparently, if you don't answer these constant reminders then your appointment gets cancelled, which is what happened to me AND the other fellow in line in front of me at the counter. The admin staff was completely rude to me about it, we argued in the waiting room and made a scene, it was certainly not my idea of how my relationship with this clinic would end. The women I was dealing with was completely unapologetic and just kept saying we have too many people who don't show up. My question is why are you inconveniencing your responsible clients with constant reminders when the clinic should just simple charge people who don't show up. I am done with this clinic and I feel bad because I loved Dr. Zellers, but this clinic needs to reassess their customer user experience. read more

I always have a great experience in their office.Was greeted by the friendly staff asking how they could help me the gentleman retrieved my glasses had me put them on and made sure they fit okay. Great experience all around. I enjoyed Megan, who does sales. She has a wonderful personality & gels well with any client. The only feedback is the lack of confidentiality. The open layout of the facility makes it difficult to have private conversations concerning insurance & patient fees. However, that will not deter me from coming back. Writing this review as I sit here waiting for them to find my contacts that I ordered SIX weeks ago. They'll probably still be looking after I finish writing. Any takers? The doctor is nice and all, didn't really blow me out of the water. These front desk girls are highly questionable. I called them one month after my appointment to see if my contacts were in. I gave them my name and heard them gasp on the other line and said they would call me back. 4 hours later, I called THEM back and they said they ordered the wrong contacts for me and blamed it on another employee there. They would be in about a week later they said. Come get them, no problem they said. One week later I called back and they said they're still wrong and that they'd call their vendor and call me back. Again NO CALL. I call THEM back again and they agreed to give me samples to hold me over. I show up today and they took forever to find samples of the contacts I DONT use because they don't have enough of my brand to give me. Then a girl tries to argue with me telling me they called and kept me informed. I think not. Do not give yourself credit for something you didn't do. They are currently running around calling their vendor, blaming their vendor for sending it incorrectly to them three times. I spy user error. Once wrong, maybe it's the vendor. Twice, that's bad luck. But three times ?!? That's just plain stupidity. Don't come here unless you like ordering things you don't get. I might as well call their vendor for them since I'm the one contacting the office all the time anyway. I am done writing this and yes they are still looking. At least I'm efficient. I came here a year ago and had a great experience. I booked my next appointment for a year later (08/27/22). Without permission they changed my appointment time and then when I encountered traffic and came in a little late I was told that I would not be seen due to the staff would be going to lunch and nobody wanted to stay and see me. I've been going to Optique for about 5 years now or so and the whole staff are absolute rockstars. From the eye exam to the scheduling process it couldn't be any smoother. I've worn contacts & glasses since I was a kid so it's natural for me but they make the whole experience just east going. I can call and be in the same day or next at times, even during the crazy end of year and holidays. On the other side of building is where you can pick out your frames. And I will only see one person for this, Megan. She is phenomenal! She has style, knows what looks best, and can even browse around and knows what would work best on your face. I'll seriously only schedule my eye visits on days when she's there. She's fitted all my glasses and will continue to do so. And even when I throw out the crazy turnaround times she always exceeds my expectations & usually gets them sooner or done in house. And they have a great selection. Everything from your basic frames to high end glasses and even sunglasses. No request is too much for those guys & gals. Even from me. (Someone that is a perfectionist & very picky). Ever since we moved to Dallas, Orm & Associates at Optique have been the only optometrists my boyfriend and I have tried, and we haven't felt the need to go elsewhere! Although I'm pretty sure that neither of us have actually seen Dr. Orm, the whole staff has been so welcoming and kind and the doctors we have seen have been very professional and experienced. Wait times are always (almost) non-existent, especially when you get there a few minutes before your appointment to fill out the (minimal) paperwork. The basic eye exam is fast and efficient. I've seen Dr. Zellers and Dr. Leadingham, and both were excellent. The price always seems a bit high, but honestly, I have nothing to compare it to, and it could just be my insurance and the contact brand I use. They do charge a flat $40 rate for a "fitting", but I was told that every eye doctor does that. With that charge, plus a co-pay and covering what my insurance didn't, I paid $120 for an exam and a year's supply of contact lenses. The doctors and staff are always exceptional, and my experience is always quick and easy. read more

For my 200th review I figure I should give credit when credit is due. Old Dallas Yelper Laura R. told me that if I wanted to get a good pair of glasses I just HAD to go to Optique. Since Laura had cosigned Floss so brilliantly as my dentist, I figured she probably knows what's up. I scheduled my appointment without problem. When I came in for my appointment I was the only one in the office. My eye exam seemed to go fine, although it felt almost a little rushed. I was really impressed with their selection of glasses. I have a GIANT head, so finding anything that fits AND looks good is quite a task. The woman helping me was patient and had a lot of recommendations which I like. It's easy to overlook a pair of glasses. I appreciate having someone there who has a second opinion. She helped pick me out a great pair of black framed retro glasses which were stylish but also unique. They were also able to put lenses in my sunglasses. My glasses wouldn't be ready for a week so they arranged for free shipping to me back home which was really nice of them. The drama came after my glasses had arrived. After wearing my glasses for a day or two it became apparently didn't fit my nose right. After a few days they had rubbed my nose raw. I didn't know glasses could DO that! I called Optique and explained the problem. They let me come in and pick a new pair. This pair fit better and I think looks better too! Not only did they let me exchange my glasses, I ended up with a $100 store credit for my next visit. They were even able to get my new pair shipped to me on short notice before I left for my internship in Ottawa. I love my glasses and when I need a new pair I'll be sure to be back to Optique! read more

I had a not-so-great experience here. The only reason I came here is because they're on my insurance plan, close to work, offered designer frames, and they were open for business on Good Friday. I walked in with a brand new prescription for eye glasses and because of the way it was written, they had to call the doctor to see if they could fill it (he decided to take off for the holiday while his staff worked). The good doctor said NO. Because I have a very unique prescription, they didn't want to be on the hook for having to re-do my lenses if my optometrist re-did my prescription. I made the mistake of telling them that my doctor wanted to see me back in three weeks to check my vision after I've had time to get used to my glasses and there was a possibility that my prescription could change. The lady I was dealing with seemed to zero in on this and most-likely conveyed to her boss that I would need an entirely new prescription in 3 weeks. I had to correct her TWICE during our conversation that this was not a certainty, but the damage had already been done and they were not going sell me lenses. As a consolation, as I was being ushered towards the door, she said I could certainly buy my FRAMES from them and get the lenses somewhere else. Yeah, right. Why the hell would I? Not only that, but my prescription has something called "prisms" - 18 to be exact. The girl who verified my insurance said that those were not covered under my insurance plan and that I would have to pay $180 bucks ($10 per prism), out of my pocket - in addition to whatever amount wasn't covered by insurance. (I found out later after going to another doctor's office that prisms WERE indeed covered by my insurance and they only charged $4 each). What a difference! Just goes to show what a high mark up this business has. Some people may not mind spending the extra $$$ out of pocket, but I do. I am giving a 1-star rating for the following reasons: 1.) Incorrectly quoting wrong information on my insurance coverage 2.) Extremely expensive - high end swanky boutique 3.) Hastily being hurried out the door after the woman got off the phone with the doctor like I was some kind of pariah 4.) Suffering the humiliation of getting kicked to the curb with my prescription 5.) Having them call me on my cell phone while I was sitting right outside their front door in my car (in tears!) - to tell me I had left my old glasses sitting on the counter 6.) Having to suffer the indignity of walking back in there The woman offered me a word of advice. She said the next place that I go to, don't even mention that I have to go back and see my eye doctor in 3-weeks and that they may have to re-do my perscription. After losing my last pair of contacts in the pool I needed to get a new prescription to get more contacts. My brother went to see an eye doctor earlier in the year, so he recommended this place to me. I called and made an appointment in the morning and got scheduled to come in the afternoon. The receptionist/tech greeted me and got me to fill out some paper work and did some preliminary testing before seeing the doc. The Dr. Orm did the usual eye testing, "is 1 or 2 better? 1 or 2? 2 or 3?"... and so on. I feel that this visit was more thorough than my last visits to other optometrists since I found out that one of my eye had astigmatism and the other didn't. Weird. So, he fixed me up with a pair of trial contacts and an Rx for glasses and contacts and I was in and out in about 20 mins. Pretty convenient for me. They did try to persuade me to buy some contacts and glasses through them, but I told them I could get them cheaper elsewhere. read more
