I had a not-so-great experience here. The only reason I came here is because they're on my insurance plan, close to work, offered designer frames, and they were open for business on Good Friday. I walked in with a brand new prescription for eye glasses and because of the way it was written, they had to call the doctor to see if they could fill it (he decided to take off for the holiday while his staff worked). The good doctor said NO. Because I have a very unique prescription, they didn't want to be on the hook for having to re-do my lenses if my optometrist re-did my prescription. I made the mistake of telling them that my doctor wanted to see me back in three weeks to check my vision after I've had time to get used to my glasses and there was a possibility that my prescription could change. The lady I was dealing with seemed to zero in on this and most-likely conveyed to her boss that I would need an entirely new prescription in 3 weeks. I had to correct her TWICE during our conversation that this was not a certainty, but the damage had already been done and they were not going sell me lenses. As a consolation, as I was being ushered towards the door, she said I could certainly buy my FRAMES from them and get the lenses somewhere else. Yeah, right. Why the hell would I? Not only that, but my prescription has something called "prisms" - 18 to be exact. The girl who verified my insurance said that those were not covered under my insurance plan and that I would have to pay $180 bucks ($10 per prism), out of my pocket - in addition to whatever amount wasn't covered by insurance. (I found out later after going to another doctor's office that prisms WERE indeed covered by my insurance and they only charged $4 each). What a difference! Just goes to show what a high mark up this business has. Some people may not mind spending the extra $$$ out of pocket, but I do. I am giving a 1-star rating for the following reasons: 1.) Incorrectly quoting wrong information on my insurance coverage 2.) Extremely expensive - high end swanky boutique 3.) Hastily being hurried out the door after the woman got off the phone with the doctor like I was some kind of pariah 4.) Suffering the humiliation of getting kicked to the curb with my prescription 5.) Having them call me on my cell phone while I was sitting right outside their front door in my car (in tears!) - to tell me I had left my old glasses sitting on the counter 6.) Having to suffer the indignity of walking back in there The woman offered me a word of advice. She said the next place that I go to, don't even mention that I have to go back and see my eye doctor in 3-weeks and that they may have to re-do my perscription. This place is so unprofessional. I have multiple texts and emails with appointment times. The day I walk in they do not have my family in the system. By the way, I spoke to someone a week before. Their systems does not capture appointments. No one calls you back when you order items. The consistent response I get every year is their updating their systems. After losing my last pair of contacts in the pool I needed to get a new prescription to get more contacts. My brother went to see an eye doctor earlier in the year, so he recommended this place to me. I called and made an appointment in the morning and got scheduled to come in the afternoon. The receptionist/tech greeted me and got me to fill out some paper work and did some preliminary testing before seeing the doc. The Dr. Orm did the usual eye testing, "is 1 or 2 better? 1 or 2? 2 or 3?"... and so on. I feel that this visit was more thorough than my last visits to other optometrists since I found out that one of my eye had astigmatism and the other didn't. Weird. So, he fixed me up with a pair of trial contacts and an Rx for glasses and contacts and I was in and out in about 20 mins. Pretty convenient for me. They did try to persuade me to buy some contacts and glasses through them, but I told them I could get them cheaper elsewhere. read more

This is a great boutique style optical office in the Uptown area. They've got a wonderful selection of designer frames ranging in price points and brands so there's something for everyone who's in the market for on trend professional frames and sunglasses. Dr. George Ormwell is fantastic and very easy to talk to, his assistant was hilarious and put me at ease, and I don't typically like having people poke around my eyes. I had no trouble getting an appointment before the end of the year and that's typically the worst time to try and get in as a new patient (they got me in the next day after I called) Another solid plus, this place is open until 6pm during the week, and take their last patient @ 5:15pm---if you live around the Uptown area, you're more than likely working till nearly 5pm, making this place ideal. Megan L. in their retail frames store is phenomenal. She's great at showing you all the newest brands and styles and has a great selection on site, if you don't see something you like, or they're sold out of a particular color, she'll order it for you; and makes great recommendations in regards to what looks and fits good on your face. Finally, for the ladies out there with eyelash extensions or just naturally super long lashes, she can have your frames made to accommodate this so your lashes don't consistently rub up and down on the inside of your lenses. The eye doctor is great. But when I picked out my glasses they told me it would only take two weeks to get them in, I have been waiting a month and a half now. I have called to check on my order twice. I have ordered glasses with plenty other companies, and get them in exactly 2 weeks or less. Something on my contact scratched my eye and left me unable to wear one in whichever eye it was. Problem was, my current glasses just weren't cutting it prescription-wise. I had a new prescription and had to get it taken care of fast, otherwise I'd be half-blind and inept for a few days. I use Care Credit for the dentist and decided to look up an optometrist that also accepted it. Optique was on the list and was closer than going to my usual doctor at Northpark. I believe the storefront guy's name is Kinte and he is awesome. Super friendly and helpful. Let me wander through the store trying on all different kinds of frames. Optique has an amazing selection of brands like D&G, Gucci, etc. I picked out my frames and gave Kinte my prescription. He informed me it would take a couple of days to get my lenses put in. I explained to him that really needed my new glasses ASAP, as my old pair were ok for staying at home, but it probably wasn't safe for me to drive wearing them. No prob, they put a rush order on them and didn't charge me extra. Kinte also informed me that I could use my Care Credit card for sunglasses, prescription or not. And let me tell you, their sunglasses selection is just as killer. I found some sweet Gucci shades, which I ended up getting a few months later. I'm due to get a new prescription for contacts and I'm thinking I'll call Optique. Especially after reading these other reviews... read more

Doctor was so quick to just move on to the next patient. He spent a total of 5 minutes with me and took no time to listen to my concerns. So much so that I had to come back a second time because he had gotten my prescription wrong the first time. They also blow up your email, phone and any of your relatives contact info with their automatic reschedule system. Needless to say I will not be coming back. read more

This was my second time coming to this place and will never come back. It was like dejavu. Last year my appointment was at 11:15. Waited for 30 minutes after my appointment then they brought back the lady who got there after me that had an 11:30 appointment. I didn't want to be that person complaining but I got up and asked the receptionist why she got brought back before me even though her time was at 11:30. She said it's not true and she had an 11:00 appointment. That was a lie because I heard her say she had an appointment at 11:30. I sat back down. Exam was quick and the older doctor didn't seem to care about my concerns. I asked for lenses that I can sleep in come to find out a couple months later they were not for sleeping---found this out when I ended up in the ER for corneal abrasion. I ordered contacts from them and it's so overpriced my allowance of $125 was only for 3 months supply?? You can feel that it's all about the money because the front office and the doctor don't have the warmest attitudes but their team that sells you frames and contacts are so overly pushy. I was shocked this year when they emailed, texted, and called me to remind me of my appointment. I don't remember setting an appointment up because I swore I would never come back. I guess they set it up for me? My appointment again was at 11:15. Got there on time. Receptionist was busy on the phone for 10 minutes after I got there. Didn't make eye contact. Didn't acknowledge me while I stood there for 5 minutes. I sat down. She finally hung up the phone and I asked to be checked in. I checked in and sat back down. WAITED 45 minutes before I complained because AGAIN a guy that came in after me and said he had an 11:30 appointment was brought back before me. The same receptionist from last year told me he got brought back before me because he is seeing a different doctor. I sat back down and the lady next to me said that they're always late so it's not shocking. One person at the front answering calls, checking insurance, checking people in. One person bringing patients back. And it seemed like 2-3 people just selling frames etc to you after your appointment. So you can see their priorities. Not patient care a d experience. They finally brought me back. Did some initial tests and was told I have to go back to the waiting area. I asked how long until I see the doctor she said another 15 minutes. I was so pissed. They have no respect for your time. I have other commitments that day and I had to push back my schedule because they can't handle their patient load. Waiting an hour after your scheduled time is unacceptable. I work at a doctor's office as a nurse in a big hospital. We see 220 patients a day and if we have 1 patient who waits more than 15 minutes our clinic gets dinged. Or if we are running behind because of unforseen circumstances from procedures, we notify every patient in the waiting area and the front desk so people coming in are also aware. Will not be coming back. I guess it doesn't matter to them because they compensate by selling you overpriced frames and lenses. read more

I have had one not so great experience here, but my current experience made up for it. Dr. Orm may have been having a good day today and not such a good day the first time I went. Who knows. What I like is the way he makes sure your contacts are right for you. The last time I went (2010), I was told they didn't sell the contact lenses I wanted (which was not true). I wanted Acuvue Advance but was talked into Acuvue Oasys -which I'm allergic to. So, after requesting and requesting what I knew I originally wanted, I ended up buying both. Ugh! This time I am trying something different. While I see well with Acuvue Advance, they tear easily. The ladies at the front desk are always nice & I've been able to get an appointment the same day I called - which was perfect since I tore the last pair I had the morning of the current visit. :-( You can usually find parking along the side of the business or just down the street. read more

Don't go here. The management of this company are unkind, rude and unaccommodating to the needs of their patients during Covid-19. I was denied a contact lens order refill because my prescription had recently expired during the Covid-19 lockdown and though I now live in California and still under lockdown here, unable to get to a doctor, Optique would not make an exception under these extenuating circumstances and fill the order for me even though Texas has re-opened from its corona virus lockdown. I had been a loyal customer for 3 years having spent thousands of dollars at this establishment in designer glasses, sunglasses and expensive custom contact lenses. Where is the compassion and understanding for good customers in their time of need, especially now? What a slap in the face! Haven't we all gone through enough pain and suffering with Covid-19? You suck. This is why I left Texas and moved back to California..You people are phonies, never willing to go to the extra mile to bend the rules a little under any circumstance to help anyone. One star for a really bad sales person. She would just drive me out of the place with not even try anything. I ordered contacts and I asked Liliana to help me to find a frame that matched my broken one. At one glance she said that she didn't have it. I asked again and she said that for sure she didn't have anything like that. I said "you probably have something similar" she insisted " no I don't have anything like that" then, when I told her " I think you're not even giving it a chance" Edwin heard that and said "please let me see" I'm so thankful that he did. Then she decided to talk him out of it. And she said to him "are you sure you REALLY want to look into that?!" I mean WOW! That was really bad and made me fell horrible. What kind of sales person talks like that? I just needed a frame. Didn't she supposed to sell me one? Or she only sells " high tickets " ? What a rude person. I've been going here for years but will not be returning. I went in for an exam early in the morning without make up on. Midway through the exam I noticed that the eye piece I was asked to put my eyes on had a lot of make up on it and was very dirty. When I told Dr Orm, he apologized and got a tissue to clean it off!!! A tissue?!?!?!? How is that sanitary? The fact that he thinks using a tissue is normal speaks volumes read more

I came in here for convenience because it was near where I live, and I'm glad I did. My experience with the doc was fast and enjoyable, great humor and very professional. By the time I walked out, I was wearing contacts that had me seeing 20/20 for the first time in 10 years. I left with a 3 month supply of contacts and insurance covered my frames, which I picked up the next day. I had a change of preference with my frames later in the week and was afraid I'd be stuck with something I didn't like.. I called back to see what could be done about exchanging my frames and spoke with the manager Megan - she was unbelievably helpful and understanding, very very cool and genuinely wanted to help. I came back in and chatted with her for a while while we picked out something else that I liked much more, now I couldn't be happier. Many other people/stores would have turned me away and told me it was final sale and nothing could be done, but Megan didn't treat me just like another customer. You can tell the whole staff thinks the same way as her as well. Very very satisfied with how they were able to help me with the entire experience. Five stars. read more

This is the WORST optometry office and store manager ever!! I was there for new prescription a week ago. Took my new prescription to LensCrafters for new glasses and when I put on my new glasses, I have noticed vision was very blurry. The employee from LensCrafters asked me to go back to my optometrist to make sure he didn't over prescribed me the prescription. When I went back they found out they wrote me the wrong prescription and gave me a different one. When I went back to the LensCrafters I have noticed my bifocals is +1.50 instead of +1.00 this time. I call them back and asked why it got change, they told me that was wrong as well, it's +2.50. REALLY!!!! One exam with three wrong prescriptions!!! So I askd for a refund and wanted to see better doctors, the store manager refused to refund. He said LensCrafters should of called first before making the new glasses. WOW! Never heard that before. So they need to call to make sure you didn't screw up !!! This place is a joke!!!!!! The store manager won't apologize for their mistake! read more

I was in need of new glasses - because I was having headaches, and thought it might be my prescription! I thought my insurance was calendar year, but I called up Optique, and I spoke with the ABO Kinte Walkera, and he looked it up real quick for me - and said nope you are eligible right now! So I put my name on the appointment list, and went down there. Dr. Orm, was fantastic! He was swift, and very cordial. And he confirmed my suspicions, that my prescription did indeed rise. So he wrote me a new prescription, and I was off to see Kinte for some frames! He hooked me up with some awesome Gucci frames, and now here I am! Hip and happy!! This was my 3rd time here and I don't think I have ever had such a rushed checkup. The staff is extremely courteous but also beware although they have an excellent selection of frames everything is way overpriced in my opinion so make sure to shop around before you buy. Back to my check up, the doctor saw me for a total of 5 minutes. He asked if everything was okay and I said no my eyes have been getting very very dry at night and he seemed to dismiss it or not really pay attention. He went on checking my vision and when he was done he said okay that's it and I had two remind him about my vision dryness, at that point he was ready to move on to his next patient so he ends up giving me two samples of eye drops and said try these and that was it. I then asked him about LASIK surgery and his ears perked up because he said Oh I'm a partner with a LASIK firm let me refer you to them, at that point I decided not to continue on with them because everything seemed to be about the money. It wasn't like that before. Maybe it's because of the area they're in. I am all for businesses making money but there has to be a balance between profit and service. It's not just these guys I think most services in Uptown are like this now it's all about churning out people making the most money but doing it in a pretty office. read more

I'll be honest, I don't know how this establishment has received nearly 5 stars. I'm never going back. I ended up going to Uptown Vision for my needs, and I had wished I had gone there from the start. The reason I won't be going back: -Felt RUSHED - I was in and out in less than 30 minutes, because he had a waiting room full of people when I was done -Doctor was not personable nor provided explanations of what we were doing -Girl who conducted pre-screenings didn't know what she was doing -Had no idea what was going on in the process as we transitioned from person to person -Girls helping me find glasses at the end treated me like a second-rate retail customer. Only Pro, the nice older lady who greeted me when I came in. She was fantastic. Overall Story The girl doing the pre-exam measurements was not very friendly nor described well to me what was going on. She had no idea what she was doing, and seemed like this was her first time conducting the exam. The doctor's bedside manner was lacking: no communication of what was going on, barely an introduction, it felt rushed, and it was only when I prompted him that he explained what was going on. Then when he brought me to see the people to help me find glasses, he just left abruptly without so much as an explanation of what was happening. Finally, when I was looking for glasses, the girls helping me treated me like a second-rate customer at a retail store. The only thing I really remember is the one who did my pre-exam measurements complaining about her hair. So I went to Uptown Vision and bought my glasses and contacts; I wished I had gone to them from the start. read more

If you're looking for frames, look no further. Veronica and Jean are the absolute best, they are genuinely invested in finding the perfect frame for you. It's more than just a job for them, you can tell they are passionate about making sure you're happy. From the moment I walked in, Veronica and Jean made me feel like I was at home. The exact opposite of how I felt at Eye Pieces (DO NOT GO THERE), the snobs working there didn't even ask if I needed any help when the entire store was empty, and they weren't even busy. They probably thought I didn't have any money to spend because I don't dress extremely fancy (their loss, I ended up purchasing glasses that totaled up to $800 at Optique). Not to mention Eye Pieces' selection is god-awful, Optique is vastly superior in both products and customer service. How else can I say this? Veronica and Jean! Veronica and Jean! Veronica and Jean! Twenty seconds after talking to them I knew that I would not be visiting any other store to look for glasses, they're that good! Totally worth the time, totally worth the drive and totally worth the money. I have never written a yelp review in my life... That's how good these ladies are, they were so amazing I was compelled to come here and spread the word. Run from this dentist. double charging me for 2 office visits just to write a prescription for restasis. I was diagnosed with dry eye years ago after lasik surgery. I've never been double charged. I told them this time it would be my last visit so they just charged me for the eye exam. If your going to be greedy don't expect the clientele to keep coming back. Wrote me my prescription in Nov 2015 at this office visit but due to the cost I hadn't filled it yet. Tried filling it last month and due to the cost of medication it has to have pre approval. Well now these money hungry greedy jerks won't fill out the form because of I didn't like their bad practices. Told me the doctor said I had to come back in 2 months. Wasn't told that, they are just being jerks and holding my prescription hostage, wanting more money. I have filed a complaint against this Dr with the Texas medical board as we as the Texas Optometrist board. read more

I'll preface this by saying that this is my first review, ever. Never really felt compelled to share my shopping experience with the world...until now. Dr. Orm and his staff raises the bar in great shopping experience and exceptional customer service. I first visited Optique in November for an eye exam and contacts but only because they were close by my house and accepted Care Credit. Also, because I was headed out of town and ran out of contacts. However, my perception quickly changed as I realized how friendly and helpful everybody was and the prices for the exam, contacts, and glasses were all lower than what I have been paying at retail franchise stores for the past 15 years. When I went in to buy new glasses a few days ago, I was in and out in 15 minutes because they were so helpful in finding me the type of frames that I was looking for without showing me just the expensive stuff. I gave them a budget and I got out $50 UNDER budget! Pretty cool... Long story short. If you are in the area and you need stuff for your eyes, go to Optique. Period. Also, I would suggest exploring their website for any promotions. When I went, the promotions were really good. read more

Dr. Orm is great. He's fast, efficient, and competent. I've been going to him for years, no complaints there. Why the four stars instead of five? I was incredibly offended by one of his staff members last year. During his first year at the new Uptown location, the arrangement of the store had been completely changed compared to their old location at Valley View Mall. After completing my exam, I went over to the clerk, who led me to a table in the glasses showroom and we sat down. She started writing something. At that point, I asked "Where's the cash register?" She stopped writing, eyed me VERY suspiciously and asked "Why do you want to know that?" Hmm, because: 1) I just had my exam. I want to pay and get out of here because I have things to do. Why are we sitting at a table? 2) In your old store, the cash register was in the showroom, and I was expecting it to be there so I could pay for my exam and leave. I was incredibly offended by her tone of voice and body language, which overtly suggested that I'm scoping out the place for a robbery. I'd been a loyal patient of Dr. Orm for YEARS. This incident won't deter me from going to him Dr. Orm in the future, but please tell your staff to try and treat your patients with more respect. read more
