Was sent here when my son needed a prescription SCUBA mask and was impressed with the conscientiousness and quality of the work. So, when my glasses that I had gotten somewhere else were so ill-fitting they were driving me crazy I brought them in to get them adjusted. For no charge, they adjusted my fames and took the time to actually bend the metal near the screws to get them to properly sit and fit on my face. I have some bizarre issues with my glasses due to neurological damage due to MS, but needed to get new glasses for after eye surgery. After reading reviews online, I chose to go to Tom Barrett's and I am so glad I did. I got my new glasses, had eye surgery and then needed a new prescription, Shawnna was a great help and we picked out frames that looked great on my face, I've never had so much help from a glasses place. I was just driving by Tom Barrett Optical and it reminded me of something a while back. I had went there previously because my sunglasses had got slightly bent and the lens fell out. These were expensive sunglasses. I was driving home and saw Tom Barrett Optical. I decided to walk in and see if they could possibly repair them. I was of course expecting a fee -- which obviously would have been no problem. But the lovely lady (Mrs. Barrett perhaps?) flawlessly repaired my sunglasses free of charge. She was so genuinely nice. And I think I briefly met Tom too, who was also great. They were just amazing. It was also near closing time, so the fact that she took 20 minutes out of her evening to repair my sunglasses free of charge, well, I just thought that was pretty awesome. Anyway I forgot to leave a review the first time and wanted to do so now. When I finally decide to buy my next pair of glasses I will without question be heading to Tom Barrett Optical. read more

Exceptional in every possible way. This eyeglass shop and the technicians saved my marriage (no joke). I was at witts ends with my husband, not to mention his personal frustration with inadequate prescriptions and inferior lens quality over the last 17 years. Seriously money over the years into the thousands, due to the high cost of eyeglasses that we purchased with all types of additions and he "couldn't see" out of them! Since January, we have been back to Dr. Barrett's nearly every weekend; first they recommended Dr. Schpok (eye doctor in Dallas, see review), my husband and I made several visits after that before we both decided on and purchased two pair of glasses each. In all honesty, we have never been so served and satisfied with a business in our lives ever. This place is truly amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, I was pleasantly shocked to find a local neighborhood professional optical service business with outstanding customer service! I returned from a foreign 14 day trip and after unpacking I was shocked to see that my very expensive sunglasses were damaged. I feared the glasses were a total loss. I began to look for a repair shop and foolishly began to look at the big box national luxury stores for service. No luck finding a reasonable cost effective repair option. I found this shop on yelp and it did not disappoint!! The sweetest man gave me perfect directions to find the place and the shop was clean and well decorated. The owners were both very welcoming and have clearly put in a lot of time and love into this shop. I took two pair of sunglasses to Tom Barrett and they were so helpful and repaired both! one in just a minute or less and the other that was very badly broken in a day. I was almost sure that they would not be able to repair the second pair because they were very badly bent and the side had been ripped out of the face of the lense. I've been going to Tom Barrett for about 5 years or so. There are several things I like 1.) The selection of eyeware is whittled down to just the good stuff (ever been into Eyemasters and felt like you were looking at the menu at The Cheesecake Factory) 2.) They have all the high tech equipment to figure out every needed measurement 3.) The customer service is UNREAL - particularly after the sale (after you sit on them) and need help putting them back together. I personally have a pair of Prada glasses I bought in 2009 from them that i'm still wearing today that they have fixed 3 times (locating parts across the world because the style is discontinued). Addtionally, they made me the most awesome computer glasses (think high tech custom reading glasses) that really made the difference for me at work. If you are tired of that junk they are hawking at the rest of the mainstream places (eyemasters/pearl) and want great glasses and even better customer service, head to Tom Barrett, the ladies over there will take care of you. read more

They are so creative - I hvae a tricky glasses problem, so they have done the necessary research and worked it out with my optometrist. I have been going to Tom Barrett Optical since the 70's. Tom is not only the owner, he is the best optician I have ever been to. For years he made my single lense glasses perfectly, and then when I went to the no line progressive lenses, those were remarkably accurate and easy to get used to with no distortion. Tom uses only the best selection of materials and will guide you to the one that is best for your prescription. His selection of frames is high fashion, and some of the best available. If you want something different, Tom is happy to find your choice and order it just for you. His prices are no more than the franchise optical places, but you get the kind of personal attention and expertise you can't find anywhere else. My husband, for example, got his progressives through our optometrist's office, but hated them because of the distortion. He ended up not wearing them. I talked him into driving over to Dallas to see Tom (we live 50 minutes away), and when my husband put on his first pair, he was so pleased that he could see perfectly with them. We both now get our new glasses from Tom Barrett Optical. I have said that if we were to move away from this area, I would have to come back to Tom for my glasses because nowhere else have I been able to get the service and accuracy that Tom and his staff provide me with. read more
