They are friendly enough but if you book a late in the day appointment don't expect the same care. I went in with an ulcer in my eye, Dr. Diane Mosbacher didn't say anything at all. She looked at my eyes for maybe a total of 5 mins and did a very quick prescription test.I thought maybe she was going to bring me back again to finish the exam after I tried on the contacts. And I was going to ask about the white dot then. No, they tried to get me fitted for glasses which I didn't want. They gave me a new brand of contacts and a new prescription and tried to get me to order $800 worth of them. When I asked if the doctor could look at my eye again to see what the white dot was, I was told she had already left. I had to go to another eye doctor who confirmed it was an ulcer and had to give me antibiotics. Just seems like they were trying to get me to buy things not about the actual health of my eyes. read more

My mom and I have been coming here for well over a decade. We always believed we were getting the best treatment as Dr.Mosbacher and her staff were always so kind to us. My mom and I both have very high prescriptions. Every time I got my annual exam, I would ask due to it being a fear of mine if I would ever have vision loss, Dr. Mosbacher always reassured me that would not happen. Last year, my mom was trying to purchase new eyeglasses from accent eyecare and the prescription was just never right. It kept being blurry. Accent eyecare took the glasses back at least twice to correct them and the blurriness kept on. My grandpa recommended my mom get a second opinion from an ophthalmologist. What she saw at this Ophthalmologists office was unbelievable. Cataracts, MASSIVE cataracts blocking her vision! My mom is 65 so it was not unbelievable that she would have cataracts but it was completely unbelievable that she was working so closely with a licensed eye doctor who failed to diagnose them or even refer her to an ophthalmologist!! I then decided to go get a second opinion on my eye health. Well low and behold, I have cataracts too! At 32 years old! Cataracts don't just appear overnight. They grow slowly over time. We always kept up with our annual exams so for them to miss this is BIG. Also what happens with Cataracts if you don't remove them?? VISION LOSS. How on earth could a licensed doctor MISDIAGNOSE and ASSURE me I would never lose my vision all the while I have something in my eye growing that would result in that?! I also have very large eyes (29) that puts me at high risk for retinal detachment. You know what retinal detachment can lead to? VISION LOSS. How could a doctor that I've been seeing for 10-15 years NEVER tell me that?? Just poor medical care. Simple as that. And cataracts are not hard to see. They are easy to diagnose if you read the exams correctly. By the grace of God, my mother and I are lucky to catch our eye issues early enough to fix them. Something that would not have happened if we remained in the care of Dr. Mosbacher. Do yourself a huge favor and NEVER go here!! Go to an actual ophthalmologist and get REAL care. We went to Dr.Patel and Dr. Herman at Vision Quest and have received excellent care!!! read more

Updated review. My first exam with Dr. Mosbacher took place about 2.5 years ago and it was an excellent experience. I am very squeamish about my eyes, so I really appreciated her patience with my nervousness and her overall kind and personable demeanor. I asked her a stream of questions about how different exam instruments worked, about the structure of the human eye, etc., and I was very pleased with how she happily answered everything without either talking down to me or getting defensive, as some doctors seem to do. (I'm genuinely just curious about this kind of stuff! Ha, I do try to make it very clear that my questions stem from sincere interest and I'm not second-guessing their expertise.) Anyway, I left that initial appointment with a new prescription in hand, thrilled that I had found an eye doctor I liked in a location that was so convenient to my office. To make a very long story somewhat shorter, and to get to the happy ending as quickly as possible, in the ensuing months, I had a series of frustrating (this is an understatement) encounters with two specific members of the Accent staff relating to two different pairs of glasses I had ordered, which led to me reluctantly posting a critical review about how I was treated. I say "reluctantly" because I still thought highly of Dr. Mosbacher, and it was not clear to what extent she was aware of her staff's unprofessional behavior. I'm not going to detail my unfortunate interactions with those individuals here because, as I learned after a long heart-to-heart with Dr. Mosbacher this afternoon, they are no longer employed with the store. Actually, given these changes in personnel, I'd suggest focusing only on the more recent reviews as far as customer service issues are concerned. I myself had an internal debate as to whether I should leave up my own original critical review or take it down, and I ultimately decided on the latter; leaving it up seemed unfair to the current staff and as well as to potential patrons who might avoid the store based on outdated concerns and complaints. I am impressed that Dr. Mosbacher took the time to talk through the prior incidents with me directly today. More specifically, the fact that she was willing to hold herself accountable for her former employees' actions, without passing blame or making excuses, tells me that she holds herself and her business to the highest standards. Dr. Mosbacher is someone who believes in the importance of creating an ongoing relationship built on trust, whether that relationship is doctor/patient or small business owner/customer. My trust and respect for her as a doctor never wavered; and after the personal attention and care I received from her today, my confidence in her business has been restored. Staff more interested in going home than providing customer service. Got turned away for an eye exam twice. Once by Dr, once by staff. Second time I returned at 5, like Dr told me. First of all, I would like to say I am not one to write reviews. I give grace in every aspect of my life but nearly my entire appointment was very uncomfortable and the whole reason I came in to see Dr. Mosbacher was forgotten about. My nurse tech was wonderful. She was polite, a great conversationalist but when the doctor came in to see me she introduced her self by standing in the door way and not moving or saying anything else for what felt like the first minute and a half of meeting her. It got to a point of silence that was so obvious I would have felt like I was forcing her to talk to me which was weird and unsettling. I told her when she came in to the room finally and asked me what brought me in that I came in because 2 years ago, my cat scratched my cornea and I was still having eye pain to this day and that I wanted to get it checked out again to see if I could find a solution to my on and off again writhing pain in the mornings.. so bad that I sometimes cant drive until after 1.5 hours of being awake. I also just needed a new prescription because it had been a few years since seeing an eye doctor. So we start the normal eye exam and it went fine and I feel that she found me an accurate prescription but by the end of my "appointment" she had shown me out the door and to the person in charge of helping me purchase glasses which was not the intent of my visit in the slightest. I asked that person if the doctor said anything about my cornea that I needed looked at and she said " I don't know did she say anything to you about it?" to which I said no, so we went to ask the doctor (as I'm going to check out) if she noticed an abrasion still on my eye and she had completely forgotten to look at the most important reason I booked a visit. So she took me back and looked at it, noticed the slight abrasion but said it was too small to do anything for and said "eye drops might help" but gave me no further info on which ones to look for, or that she would recommend and just overall pretty much didn't seem to care about me. Im hoping this was just an off day for her and her staff but when I told the woman I wouldn't be buying glasses and that I had a question about the reason I came in that day she seemed huffy and put off that they weren't getting anymore than my $10 copay. I went to another doctor today who took the time to really look at me, and who did find a solution to my problem. While at Accent Optical I felt unsettled, and unimportant while there and will not be coming back. read more

The poor service starts at the front desk. You are barely greeted as all the employees are looking down at their computer monitors. The rest of them are standing in a small area behind the counter, in plain sight eating and sitting. It's kinda hard to explain the actual service. Not that I need warm and fuzzy service. But it almost feels like the are robotic. No personality, no smiling of any kind, just feels cold. Even when given the chance to help the client. Accent Optical failed. I was told by one of the counter robots, that I was not covered under my insurance company. Only to come home, call my insurance company and have them call Accent Optical to verify my enrollment. Had the counter person, given the situation any effort, She would have found that I am fully covered through my insurance company. I bought a pair of glasses from AO, years ago, and have been quite unhappy with them, They were very expensive and I'd hope for a far better quality. Sad to say, they are loose and ill fitting and fall off my face constantly. I went to go buy another pair somewhere else and AO, refused to give the store my prescription... So you can see why at this point, I have a very bad opinion on this location. Bad service, high prices, really not much else to say. read more

Wow! The level of service provided here was excellent. Unfortunately, I was running late. Went to take my kid to see about getting her first set of glasses after getting hints of a possible problem when reading at a distance. She normally gets a couple of styes throughout the year -- no big deal. We normally deal with them at home without complications. So when she had one the day of the exam, I thought nothing of it and we went ahead and stuck with our appointment because it didn't bother her. The day of our appointment, a tech and the doctor both saw her during the check in and asked about the stye. I admitted we usually have to deal with a couple a year. Instead of telling me to reschedule the appointment, she went ahead and took her to the back room to do a couple of things and then sent us on our way because a stye can prevent her from getting the right prescription. She told me I had to bring her back in a week once the stye was gone. She charged me a copay (which I thought I was going to fight with the insurance company later because an eye exam should be covered). Turns out, that our insurance fully covers eye exams for glasses without a copay. The doctor had it billed as a medical exam. At the front desk, the tech/assistant said that the eye exam turned into a medical visit because of the stye. We did not come in for a medical exam. The doctor did not treat anything. The doctor just told me to do what we always do. I found it supremely unprofessional. read more

Writing this solely about the customer service. I live just one block down from Accent Optical therefore, I pass by it all the time. Last week I was home sick with a cold and fell asleep with my glasses on. I woke up to find the right arm completely separated from the rest of the frame. I took a chance and walked over to Accent and asked the first employee if she could help me. I wear Chanel frames and a lot of optical retailers in the past have sent me away saying they won't touch them? So when she said "let me try" I was beyond grateful already. She worked on my glasses for less than 10 minutes and made sure they were comfortable on my face. On top of the speed and friendliness she DIDN'T CHARGE ME A DIME!! I have lived downtown for 17 years and been a patient for around 7. Dr. Mosbacher is wonderful, she detected a strabismus in my eye that required surgery to correct which several others doctors I had previously used missed. I want to be loyal to her but her staff is horrible and incompetent. She is an excellent doctor who takes the time and gives patients personal attention. The Doctor is great and the eye care is top notch. When my girlfriend quit going to this office because she got tired of the staff lying to her I kept going because I wanted to keep patronizing doctor M. Sadly now I find myself in the same boat as my girlfriend and won't be going anymore because of the staff. In my experience she is a five star doc with one star staff. If you can get in and out without interacting with the staff you will have a great experience. read more

The selection of glasses at Accent Optical is phenomenal!! They have beautiful, unique, artsy frames, as well as frames that are more simple yet elegant. Their glasses feel like more of an accessory than a necessity. I also ordered contacts from them, just in case, and both my glasses and contacts arrived VERY fast. Dr. Diane is very friendly and thorough, and the staff are incredibly helpful. They literally picked off of the shelf all 20+ frames that they thought would fit my needs based on what I was looking for, and gave me a chance to try all of them on. I went to Accent Optical for the first time few days ago. I needed an eye exam and new frames. The appointment was very easy to schedule and the staff extremely welcoming and personable. Although Dr Mosbacher seems to be more business than people orientated she is very professional and knowledgeable. Ninoska (or at least I think that's her name is) is the assistant that helped me with the additional eye checks and helped me pick out these wicked cool glasses from their extensive selection. She was very sweet, sincere and open about how specific frames looked on me and she was trying to fit me in a pair of glasses that I was going to love and not the most expensive ones. I cannot vouch for the quality of the glasses/frames yet as I haven't receive them yet but I will make sure to come back and update my review if they are of doubting quality. read more

They used technology that shared my exam results instantly with Dr. Mosbacher. Glaucoma test weren't uncomfortable. Overall all, a best experience. Have a family history of eye problems that I felt was appropriately and thoroughly addressed. Dr. Diane Mosbacher is a supremely professional doctor who managers to keep the personal touch. I've been a patient there for years, even after I lost my vision insurance I was surprised at how affordable it is. All the original staff there remembers me every time, even though I only go once every 16 months or so, right down to asking me about a bike accident I had several years ago. I've noticed some of her front desk staff has been there for several years- bonus because they are so conversational with me, and because it speaks to job satisfaction. I think they're honest. The only reason this is not a 5 star is because I've had small issue getting to a rechck appointment due to my unpredictable work schedule, and I've been a little disappointed they couldn't squeeze me in on short notice. But even I'll admit that's not a very fair expectation. I plan to continue seeing Dr. Mosbacher for as long as I live in Dallas. read more
