The experience was very positive. Everyone, from the receptionist to the advisor for frames to the doctor were super nice. Dr. McClennan was very thorough and spent a lot of time getting to know my eye needs. The eye exam was comprehensive and I felt good about it. After the exam, there is an extensive selection of frames. An advisor helped my pick one that met my needs. I was happy with the selection. The only downside about this business is accessibility. It is nearly impossible to access if you are going west on Mockingbird. There is no U-turn sign at the Greenville stoplight so you have to turn left on Greenville and hope to be able to squeeze in a left turn into the parking lot. Going east on Mockingbird is much easier, although parking is tight no matter which direction you are going. Overall, I would recommend this business.

I received a text from them stating our visit was covered so I called to ask about the discount and they told me that our visit was covered. At this point I figured I would again ask them when I came in for our appointment in person. So today when we came in I asked them again and the front ladies stated that they didn't check it (even though I asked them too)! So I asked them if they could check it because my daughter in law wanted to come in as a new patient. At this point they said we do not take that and I pulled up the discount site and showed them where Dr Chapman was at the TOP of the list of providers that accepted it. Then they both just looked away and acted as if they didn't care one bit! It's sad because Dr Chapman is great but with staff like this who do not seem to care one bit he just lost a potential new patient and quite possibly my family of five...

To preface: I have worn glasses for 17 years and contact lenses for 13 years…read more Hands down, this was the worst experience I have ever had at an optometrist's office. Here were the highlights (or lowlights if you will) of my experience: 1. On my first appointment I arrived on time and it was 45 minutes before I even saw Dr. Linda. I had the first appointment of the day and I had scheduled it that way intentionally so that I could minimize my time away from work. The technician who ran the initial tests and showed me to my room saw the doctor come in and commented, "She's late again". 2. I had both an eye examination and a contact fitting evaluation.. I was given a contact lens prescription and a trial pair with less power than mine because they did not have my high power lenses in stock (this is typical in my experience). I put in the lenses and immediately mentioned that they right lens did not fit well. In response, I was told that it sometimes takes up to 15 minutes for the contact lens to settle. I was then told that I could check out at the front desk. I looked at the doctor in surprise and asked, "Are you not going to look at the fit of my contact lenses?". I was told to try them out for a week and if they didn't work I could come back. 2A. Unsurprising, the right contact lens indeed did not work out. So I had to make another appointment and come in again. After the 2nd appointment, I asked if another trial pair would be ordered. I was told that they could order another pair and then was pressured into purchasing a year supply right then. I responded that I was not comfortable with buying a year supply before I had even tried my new lens after which a few more attempts were made to get me to purchase a year supply. 2B. I picked up my 2nd trial pair of lenses and when I got home, I discovered they were not the right prescription. I called and the woman who answered the phone first tried to convince me that they were correct (which they were not) and then agreed to ship the 3rd pair to my apartment. 3. I also ordered two pairs of lenses after my initial examination, one for glasses and one for sunglasses. After the time frame for their arrival had elapsed, I called the office and was told that they had arrived that day and I could come pick them up. 30 minutes later, they called me back and I was told that while adjusting my glasses, they had scratched one of the lenses past the point of being able to use it. They did apologize and told me they would expedite the order of the replacement lens and that it would arrive on Monday of the following week. I called on Tuesday of the following week when I had not heard from Optix. I was told that my lens was in. I responded that I would pick them up on Thursday when I was there for my follow up contact lens fitting from 2A. 3A. When I arrived on Thursday, I again booked the earliest appointment available (8:45). Dr. LInda walked into the front door of the office at 9:00 with shopping bags and gave me an unfazed greeting. I was shortly after led into a waiting room. I left the room and asked if I could get my glasses fitted (with the replacement lens and all) while I waited. I was then told that the lens had not arrived. Not only had they NOT been expedited but I was falsely told that they had arrived when I called. So it took me one more trip to be able to get everything that I had ordered. 4. When I first saw Dr. Linda, she suggested daily contact lenses. I mentioned at 3 times during the appointment that I was worried they were cost-prohibitive for the frequency in which I use my contact lenses. Despite this, I was told they were ordering a trial pair of dailies for me in my prescription. I asked what the price was compared to my monthly contacts and they were indeed more than I wanted to pay. When I expressed this and asked for a trial pair of my old lenses I was treated with contempt and the response "So you're NOT interested in daily contact lenses at all?". No... 5. I was charged for a special mapping of the eye. I have seen these services offered at other places when you fill out your paperwork but there was always an opt-in/opt-out option. Not at Optix. I said that I did not agree to this service and they referred me to the sheet I signed saying that I was responsible for anything that my insurance did not pay. I agreed with this to an extent, but pointed out that on my examination sheet (which was left on the table) the box saying 'Patient declined mapping' (or something to that effect) was not checked and was not even mentioned to me. After I said this the receptionist reached over and took the paper saying, "That's for office use, not patient use." However, in the end they agreed to not charge me for the mapping. I will never be returning to Optix EyeCare & Gallery or Dr. Linda Fain Hatton. It was absolutely the worst service I have received. If you value your time and your money, do not go here.

She is kind, meticulous, and I appreciated that she explains everything she's going to do and why. I mentioned this multiple times--at least three times--but I felt pushed toward more expensive options that I didn't want. When I finally chose a frame covered by my insurance, I was told that my lenses required special processing because of my prescription. The price I was quoted for the lenses was over $500. When I said I couldn't afford that and didn't intend to spend more than $300, the price suddenly dropped to $308 within seconds. Why wasn't this lower option presented to me in the first place? The sudden shift in pricing felt shady and left me questioning the transparency of the process. It felt like I was being pressured into spending more than necessary, and the whole experience came across as unprofessional. I hope this feedback encourages a more honest and straightforward approach in the future. Customers should feel respected and confident in their choices--not pushed into something they don't want or can't afford.

She was knowledgeable and made sure that I had just as much of an understanding of what was going on with my eyes. I didn't feel rushed at all going through my exam and she gave me thoughtful suggestions on my next steps to ensure that my eye health was being prioritized. I also appreciated that Dr. Nguyen sanitized the equipment before having me use each machine. At the front desk for check out, the woman who helped me there was also really patient as I scrambled to find my HSA card to pay. It started pouring down raining and she was even kind enough to walk me through the back door to my car so I wouldn't get as wet.
