Dr. Jacobs nailed it though. Within a day of wearing my new lenses, my eyes had completely adjusted. My eyes are more relaxed, and it's easier for me to focus thanks to the new prescription. Dr. Jacobs also has a great support staff. Mattie in the front desk is wonderful. I will be back next year for my annual eye exam.

I had my annual eye exam this morning and am happy to say that I have found my new eye care center…read more The ladies that checked me in and out were nice, the tech that did my pre-screening thoroughly explained each step (which was not necessary since I've been in corrective eyewear for 15+ years, but nonetheless appreciated), and the optometrist, Dr. Zellers, was informative and efficient. I went to this establishment for new glasses. I took with me, a pair of readers I bought and loved…read morethe frames on and wanted to have them fitted with my new lenses. I was told it was not a possibility. Picked out frames and had an order ready to go which was gonna cost me somewhere around 400.00 WITH insurance coverage! Next day I call and tell them I cannot do it and they are too expensive, so they say, they will stop the order and when I can to come in and we will draw up an order for a more affordable deal. In the meanwhile, I contact two different optical places that tell me without a doubt, that they can indeed fit the frames I want with the lenses I need. So, I call this establishment back and tell them that I have found someone who can do the job on the frames I want and I want my initial (half payment) outlay of money back. They said no, their policy is no refunds. I have had my insurance people speak with them, corporate from Vision Source speak with them and they are not budging. They both said how badly they felt and feel she is being unreasonable. I filed a complaint with the BBB and still waiting to hear anything on that. This has been going on since Sept 29 and now it is Nov 16! I just want my money back and I don't want the glasses that they said they would NOT order, they KNEW I did not want them. I am ready to call channel 8 news to give them my story. Oh and I did not mention the fact that when I was seated having my eye exam, Dr. Hernandez pulled out her script pad and wrote me a script for eye drops for my "allergy eyes" as she called them without even asking me how my eyes felt. She said be sure and see me back in two weeks. Of course, so she can get even more money from my case as then she would be getting paid by my BCBS for the follow-up. I didn't get the script filled as I did not need the steroid she said I needed. She sells jewelry in her waiting area, leftover from a business she was previously in. She is all about MONEY and getting as much as she can even if it is mistreating the people that walk in her door. There is a five star rating up above, she gets NO STAR as far as I am concerned.

I was running 4 mins behind due to traffic and they went ahead and brought in the appointment behind me since they were already there and waiting. Not ideal for me of course but great if the shoe had been on the other foot. It's a pretty cozy space so I waited for the appointment to wrap up by admiring the small town views and a few new pair of glasses. Dr. Nguyen was a pleasure. She was knowledgeable and made sure that I had just as much of an understanding of what was going on with my eyes. I didn't feel rushed at all going through my exam and she gave me thoughtful suggestions on my next steps to ensure that my eye health was being prioritized. I also appreciated that Dr. Nguyen sanitized the equipment before having me use each machine. At the front desk for check out, the woman who helped me there was also really patient as I scrambled to find my HSA card to pay. It started pouring down raining and she was even kind enough to walk me through the back door to my car so I wouldn't get as wet. I will be ordering my new contacts from here soon and was told the turnaround time is really quick. I look forward to receiving them and I am excited to have a new eye doctor.

To preface: I have worn glasses for 17 years and contact lenses for 13 years…read more Hands down, this was the worst experience I have ever had at an optometrist's office. Here were the highlights (or lowlights if you will) of my experience: 1. On my first appointment I arrived on time and it was 45 minutes before I even saw Dr. Linda. I had the first appointment of the day and I had scheduled it that way intentionally so that I could minimize my time away from work. The technician who ran the initial tests and showed me to my room saw the doctor come in and commented, "She's late again". 2. I had both an eye examination and a contact fitting evaluation.. I was given a contact lens prescription and a trial pair with less power than mine because they did not have my high power lenses in stock (this is typical in my experience). I put in the lenses and immediately mentioned that they right lens did not fit well. In response, I was told that it sometimes takes up to 15 minutes for the contact lens to settle. I was then told that I could check out at the front desk. I looked at the doctor in surprise and asked, "Are you not going to look at the fit of my contact lenses?". I was told to try them out for a week and if they didn't work I could come back. 2A. Unsurprising, the right contact lens indeed did not work out. So I had to make another appointment and come in again. After the 2nd appointment, I asked if another trial pair would be ordered. I was told that they could order another pair and then was pressured into purchasing a year supply right then. I responded that I was not comfortable with buying a year supply before I had even tried my new lens after which a few more attempts were made to get me to purchase a year supply. 2B. I picked up my 2nd trial pair of lenses and when I got home, I discovered they were not the right prescription. I called and the woman who answered the phone first tried to convince me that they were correct (which they were not) and then agreed to ship the 3rd pair to my apartment. 3. I also ordered two pairs of lenses after my initial examination, one for glasses and one for sunglasses. After the time frame for their arrival had elapsed, I called the office and was told that they had arrived that day and I could come pick them up. 30 minutes later, they called me back and I was told that while adjusting my glasses, they had scratched one of the lenses past the point of being able to use it. They did apologize and told me they would expedite the order of the replacement lens and that it would arrive on Monday of the following week. I called on Tuesday of the following week when I had not heard from Optix. I was told that my lens was in. I responded that I would pick them up on Thursday when I was there for my follow up contact lens fitting from 2A. 3A. When I arrived on Thursday, I again booked the earliest appointment available (8:45). Dr. LInda walked into the front door of the office at 9:00 with shopping bags and gave me an unfazed greeting. I was shortly after led into a waiting room. I left the room and asked if I could get my glasses fitted (with the replacement lens and all) while I waited. I was then told that the lens had not arrived. Not only had they NOT been expedited but I was falsely told that they had arrived when I called. So it took me one more trip to be able to get everything that I had ordered. 4. When I first saw Dr. Linda, she suggested daily contact lenses. I mentioned at 3 times during the appointment that I was worried they were cost-prohibitive for the frequency in which I use my contact lenses. Despite this, I was told they were ordering a trial pair of dailies for me in my prescription. I asked what the price was compared to my monthly contacts and they were indeed more than I wanted to pay. When I expressed this and asked for a trial pair of my old lenses I was treated with contempt and the response "So you're NOT interested in daily contact lenses at all?". No... 5. I was charged for a special mapping of the eye. I have seen these services offered at other places when you fill out your paperwork but there was always an opt-in/opt-out option. Not at Optix. I said that I did not agree to this service and they referred me to the sheet I signed saying that I was responsible for anything that my insurance did not pay. I agreed with this to an extent, but pointed out that on my examination sheet (which was left on the table) the box saying 'Patient declined mapping' (or something to that effect) was not checked and was not even mentioned to me. After I said this the receptionist reached over and took the paper saying, "That's for office use, not patient use." However, in the end they agreed to not charge me for the mapping. I will never be returning to Optix EyeCare & Gallery or Dr. Linda Fain Hatton. It was absolutely the worst service I have received. If you value your time and your money, do not go here.
