    Gravy cheese fries
    Cecilia T.

Love this place. The vibe is 1950s Roswell-style diner meets bomb shelter. Even the juke box looks like a space ship. You have to either order at the bar or through their Toast app; although the app is frequently not working. The bartender is great, though, super friendly and helpful. The happy hour is fabulous. $.89 pierogies, $5 pina coladas and figgy pops, and very cheap beer flights. I had no idea what a figgy pop was - it's a cocktail that tastes like Mountain Dew. Highly recommend that and the pina colada. The other star was the gravy cheese fries. They use white gravy, which really takes it to the next level.

Blackened Catfish Bahn Mi & Vegan Valley Cheesesteak

This was such an interesting and cool restaurant! My vegan friend found it online and wanted to check it out for dinner. The inside had a casual diner feel. There was a sign upon walking in stating that we seat ourselves and then scan their barcodes on the table to order. We sat outside and scanned the table barcode to start our order. It alerted the staff we were there because a minute later, we were brought out waters. After reviewing the menu, we ordered Fried Pickle Spears and Vegan Wings to start. The vegan wings were amazing! It had a nice texture and the sauce was very flavorful. I also enjoyed the Fried Pickle Spears which was fried well without the pickle making it too soggy. For my main, I got the Blackened Catfish Bahn Mi while my friend got their Vegan Valley Cheesesteak with subbed Brussels sprouts. My Bahn mi was a good size and was quite good. There were a lot of jalapeños which made the sandwich a bit too spicy for me. I had to start taking them out as my mouth was on fire. The catfish was also a bit on the saltier side for me but it was still a tasty sandwich! The piña colada drink I got was also pretty good. It was the perfect cold drink on a hot evening. Overall, I really liked checking this vegan friendly restaurant out and hope to come back again!

    Steak frites

The steak frites was very good, well seasoned, and cooked to my specifications. Ordering on the app was easy enough, but it's hard to find an itemized list of things you've ordered. My first drink and entree came out fairly quickly, but getting anyone to stop so I could request A1 sauce was impossible, I had to go to the counter (my friend was basically waving her hand in the server's face and she didn't acknowledge us, at all). I ordered a second drink and it took a long time to be delivered to the table. Apparently the service is better than it used to be which is sad. I'd return for the food tho.

This restaurant is out of this world and so vegan friendly! I am fully blown away by the food I got to enjoy here. You can choose your seating at Rocket to Venus and the interior is reminiscent of being in a rocket ship. It is a little dark inside and a very cool vibe. There are also many outdoor tables which have great covering and shade. Each table has a QR code so people can order food and easily pay separately. There is no server so do not wait around for someone to take your order, and make sure your phone is charged. The menu clearly labels items that are vegan which makes ordering as a vegan a breeze! I enjoyed the Vegan Philly Cheese Steak, Vegan Kimchi Fries, and stole some bites of my friend's Tofu Banh Mi. Best I'll my heart the Philly Cheese Steak was phenomenal. It has a generous amount of melted vegan provolone and a hearty portion of well hydrated and marinated soy curls as the steak. It also had marinara sauce and peppers which were so savory and delicious. This meal was thick, extraordinarily filling, and exactly what you should order if you are starving! The Kimchi fries were absolutely covered in kimchi which was fantastic! You could hardly see the fries at the bottom and I can live with that ratio. The kimchi was not very fermented and tasted so light. I think it would be a good kimchi for a first timer to try. It had fresh jalapeños so it was a little spicy but not too spicy for the general public. There was also a little orange sauce that added some creaminess to the plate. The Tofu Banh Mi was a great meal choice for someone that wants their carbs but does not want as heavy of a meal as the Philly cheese steak. The Banh Mi was flavorful yet not heavy in the slightest. This would be the way to eat if you want to avoid a food coma. There was plenty of tofu so you still get your protein without feeling completed bloated and stuffed. I have heard great reviews about their vegan chicken sandwich and will definitely need to return to finish trying their vegan options. I thank this restaurant so much for having an easy to follow menu for vegans, and putting in so much effort to produce fantastic vegan meals. I will definitely be back!

Went for a friends birthday last night and tried the Pork Belly Burger, Brussels Sprouts, and Fried Pickles. The Pork Belly Burger was SO good, maybe the best burger I have ever had- whoever came up with that has a great mind lol. Brussels Sprouts and Fried Pickles were yummy. Love the ease of ordering with the QR code and our food came very quickly. Cool themed atmosphere with dim lighting, UFO art on the walls, unique windows and wall lights that make you feel like you are in a retro rocketship, and rocket shaped water dispensers to fill your own cups as needed. Will absolutely be coming back!

if you want later night eats, this is a good destination! everything here is QR code ordering, and the only role the staff play is delivering food/drinks to your table, so if you want to eat without disturbance this might be a good option. i ordered the chicken banh mi and a cider, and i tried the lemon pepper fries. the banh mi was good with the appropriate vegetables and no (or very little) fish sauce, which is something i like. you can definitely get a better banh mi in the area, but it's nice to have this option. they have local beers and such on tap, and the cider i got was very cheap and tasty. the fries were INCREDIBLY oversalted (both the regular and lemon pepper ones) but still edible. the lemon pepper seasoning tastes how you would expect it to. not a stellar experience, but definitely sufficient. the inside is very cute and almost feels like an arcade.

My partner and I were in the area and wanted something nearby for dinner and he found this place on google. Obviously the fun name caught his eye first but it seemed like our vibe and I drove us over. It was in a residential area but we found parking pretty quickly and easily. There was outdoor seating when we walked up which was full because it was beautiful yesterday, even after sundown. We walked inside to a sign that directed customers to sit wherever we'd like and we could order from our phones with a QR code or up at the bar. Also immediately at the table with the sign and at the front of the bar there were water stations and short glasses. I liked this feature a lot as I was feeling dehydrated and could fill up whenever I wanted. The inside has a fun retro vibe with mint and black but small elements of space travel sprinkled throughout. The restrooms had Earth Men and Earth Women above the respective doors; and the ladies room was a 2 stall situation. I picked a fun half moon booth and my partner was able to get a physical menu as our reception in the restaurant was slow. When we decided what we wanted my partner went to the bar to order for us both. Every person who worked at the restaurant was friendly and helpful with questions about the menu and made the atmosphere really comfortable. My partner got the Bahn Mi sandwich with clam chowder instead of a side salad and I got the beet salad (without the walnuts) and brussel sprouts. Everything was delicious but I think the stand out part of our meals was the clam chowder and we talked about coming back specifically for it.

Behold the Chicken & Waffle sandwich and the Beyond Burger-- perfection!

Why do we love Rocket To Venus? 1. Outdoor Seating! If you are lucky enough to get a table outside you will the opportunity to watch the parade of people and dogs on Chestnut. 2. Happy Hour! You get 3 cute glasses of draft beer for cheap! 3. Chicken & waffle sandwich. Everytime I come here I have the intention of ordering something else. I am unable to do so because this is so dang delicious, especially with honey mustard. 4. The staff! We have always had great service here. Go to the bar to order OR use the QR code at your table. Thank you, Rocket To Venus, for your consistent awesomeness in Hampden.

(Excellent bread) Ban mi and a side of crispy brussel sprouts!

Hard to believe I lived in the neighborhood for years but finally experienced this jewel. I ordered the poutine, ban mi sandwich, brussel sprouts, and vegan fried chicken. Yes, it is decadent and absolutely tasty. The location is decorated as a diner and eclectic bar from another time. A time when great service, drink selection, menu, and experience was a top priority. They also have an outdoor patio. Take a walk off the avenue and enjoy a treat.

Since it was New Year's eve, there were few patrons or maybe this is the usual scene? Don't know. But there are some comfy couches by the front in which a young couple with a baby was nursing. Another couple was just finishing up dinner and started to head out. We were the only two diners for about 20 minutes before another couple came in for dinner. There were also about two or three people at the bar. So basically a very quiet place. No one at the hostess stand, only a woman at the bar. She eventually sat us and took our order. Things were slow but not so slow that I would complain. I would surmise that most of the staff was off that evening. Food was also slow in coming so there might have been a small crew in the kitchen as well. We ordered the mezze appetizer. Nothing to rave about. It was just a plate with vegetables and hummus. We both got the wagyu burger and fries. The whole meal was quite decent. The meat was cooked to the correct temperature and the fries were crispy. It was quite filling for me. Maybe it was NYE but everything was quiet and nice.

The space is gorgeous - super high ceilings, giant chandelier, velvet couches - a very old school elegant vibe. The beer and wine selection were small, but very good. It was a gorgeous day, the first Sunday in January, 2026. We arrived at 11:00 am, when they open, because we wanted to make sure to be ahead of the well documented Sunday brunch crowd. Yeiboh Kitchen does not take reservations (although they do reserve for special parties/events). Yeiboh Kitchen has an intimate outside patio dining area in front for that alfresco experience. When we entered, we were greeted warmly, and waited in comfy chairs for about 10 minutes in the cozy foyer complete with fireplace, before being seated. There was a mix of smooth R&B and mellow Hip Hop flowing on the PA system - and then the DJ set it up, and continued the vibe! The bar, open kitchen, and cheerful wait staff enhanced our anticipation of the food that was in store! We were not disappointed! I had the Jerk Honey Glazed Lollipop Lamb Chops AND Grits! It comes with 3 chops, cooked to your specification. (Medium for me) I was trying to scrape my plate for the last morsel of grits, and suck the Lamb bones, it was so good! The hubby ordered the Deep Fried Salmon and Grits, served with a savory Cajun cream sauce, scallion and tomatoes - and 2, fluffy scrambled eggs! He absolutely loved his meal! We also had the Deep Fried Biscuit Flight. Three biscuits - Salted Caramel Apple, Strawberry Cream, and Banana Pudding - perfectly fried in a way you would not even think they were fried, but for that ever-so light, crispy texture on the crust, and every bite - perfection! I cannot say which biscuit I enjoyed the most - I'll need to visit a few more times to make a determination! For beverages, we had coffee, and I ordered my (usual) mimosa. Our server, "Ms. Sunday," was extremely personable, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The Chef, Mr. Chris Davis, greeted us at our table during the meal, which was a wonderful, elegant touch! He explained about the fried biscuits (without giving away too much!)- and we complimented him on his culinary innovations in the kitchen! The Sunday brunch patrons began to arrive around noon, and by the time we left - close to 1:00pm, it was jumping! If you are in or near Baltimore, or plan to travel to the area soon, please put this restaurant on your list. Parking is at a premium, so if you can, arrive by Uber or Lyft. The experience will be well worth the trip!

I only had a margarita off the HH menu and it tasted a little watered down, which is why I took off a star. I'll definitely be back with a full drink review!

After all, it'd been on our radar since Tom Sietsema's 2019 review in the Washington Post but, because it's located a long way from us, we hadn't made the effort. We're so glad we made the trip to Baltimore this past Thursday for what wound up being a magical evening. The staff was exceptional: Eliza and George greeted us warmly ("that's quite the hat!"). George led us to table #4...the perfect choice (thanks Eliza!) as I'd had my eye on that table thanks to web-based interior shots of Charleston. Jocelyn, our Server, was friendly, attentive, and extremely knowledgeable when it came to the daily menu, the evening's specials, and the daunting wine list. It's no wonder Charleston was a 2025 James Beard Foundation award winner for its "Outstanding Wine & Other Beverages Program." Thanks to Jocelyn's Busser, Dionicio, our water glasses were never empty and we had a constant supply of muffins, sourdough, and the best cornbread ever! He was the master of unobtrusive service. Ah, but whatabout the food?! Perfection. Champagne followed by Chef's welcoming sippable soup set the stage for a mix-and-match tasting tour. Potato & Beer soup, Lettuce & Beet salad, and Grilled Tenderloin for me and Zucchini Beignets, Lettuce & Beet salad, and White Truffle Fettuccine for her. All simply confirmed that Chef Wolf and her kitchen staff are at the top of their game. We finished the evening with our complementary desserts (Almond Pound Cake, Cashew & Dark Chocolate Vegan Cheesecake) and coffee. Even the chocolate Macarons, a parting treat, were delicious. Finally, a word about the room. "Calming" comes to mind. Never hurried. Conversation was easy. Very much appreciated nowadays where, even in upper tier restaurants, it's a struggle to hear your tablemates. The major hiccup we experienced was my gluten free lamb shank pasta being sent to the vegetarian sitting at the table next to us. Watching this unfold and the server's exasperated reaction was very awkward. That being said, the manager (or maitre d?)'s graceful handling of the situation thereafter was great. He told us what happened, played it off well, explained that it would be a bit of a wait for our next course as a result, and ended up comping all our wine. Really classy touch. However, even after the long wait for the pasta, it was ultimately under-salted under-seasoned and not impressive at all. As much as I appreciate the gluten free option, I wish I had just gotten something else especially after all that trouble! The rest of the service throughout the night was also oddly paced. We ordered less courses than last year (only three) but we were there for almost four hours. Tables around us who arrived after us were served their first courses before we even had a chance to order. We were asked to pick out a wine first before choosing our food and since we weren't sure what we were eating, we weren't ready to select a wine. Even just getting the food menu took a bit of waiting around. Our server didn't inquire about any food allergies either so it was tough making decisions when I wasn't sure what was gluten free - and this was an allergy that was noted in our reservation, too. At another point, I asked for a glass of red wine three different times until finally the maitre d grabbed it for me after the pasta debacle happened. As for the rest of my meal, the scallops and lobster soup were both yummy but not anything life changing. However, my boyfriend's lamb chop dish was very very delicious. The one bite I had, paired with the pomegranates, was heaven. By the way, they offer gluten free bread service too. Has the Charleston lost their touch after the recent James Beard press? I'm not sure but I do hope they step things back up again. You come to expect a little more from an institution like this, especially after being totally blown away last year.

Neon lit Edgar portrait reading from a book his Annabel Lee. Complete with a bouquet of flowers. To the right more words of the writer surrounded with a few tables and chairs for those willing to chill in the cold. Inside was no different. Several crows, skulls everything you'd expect. And a well stocked bar. Many writings on the wall, articles, awards, etc all added to the vibe and theme. And of course dimly lit but you could still read the menu. We were guided to the back for our party of 5, in a corner away from everyone else. That made it easy for us to converse as we perused the menu exclaiming this and that of the dreadful names used and deathly ingredients mixed in. It definitely made it more appetizing. After working all day I was ready for a drink and settled on the To Isadore; gin, lavender syrup, lemon squeeze topped with segura cava. That hit the spot. Unfortunately, I had eaten quite a bit on this trip and forced myself to order the Chef Salad. Nothing more to say there. My wife, though, ordered the seafood lasagna. Never had that and it didn't sound like something I could get into. I was wrong. This is Baltimore. The seafood here is astounding. It was delicious and had to take a couple spoon fulls. My friend ordered the double beef patty burger. I was jealous until he offered me a bite. That was really good too, and juicy. If you're looking for an experience and are not too afraid you may want to visit Annabel's. I do recommend it and do insist coming after the sun has been well down.

One was visibly grey and desiccated and made it up to us, it made the entire table smell disgusting. The other 3 looked okay visually, but smelled rotten. I've never had an issue with oysters here before. I'm not sure if the shuckers were having an off day, but man. I was so disappointed! We were seated upstairs and our service was also lacking a bit, not getting refills quickly, etc. definitely not the best time!

I turned back around to photograph the signage, while my party headed to the bar exit door. When I turned back to leave, a manager coming down the stairs glaring at me asked me, "Is everything all right?" Me: Yes, I was taking a pic. Manager: I know. I wanted to know if everything is ok. Still in same weird vein, like a dog with a fav chew toy. Me: Is there a problem with me taking a pic? Manager: I didn't ask you why you were taking a pic. I wanted to know if something was wrong. You were over there taking a pic and the hostess wasn't there. Sidebar: This same manager passed our table at least 3 times during our visit with no greeting, nor stopping by our table to check in with a little small talk. NOW....he asks me is something wrong nary a smile but with a .....what in the world is she doing. Me: YES, this is petty. No, you asked me if something was wrong BECAUSE I was taking a pic. If I needed something, then I'd ask the waiters at the next stand (only a few tables away) You saw us sitting at the table at the entrance and never spoke to us once. I will never return! RUDE MANAGER Interaction 0/5 Note: All managers, stop by each diner's table, greet customers with a smile, DON'T be obnoxious and rude. THANK patrons, APOLOGIZE when something goes wrong, always say COME BACK AND SEE US! FYI: Manager for your information, I'm a Yelper. I enjoy leaving honest and detailed feedback on places I visit. My time and money are valuable to me as I curate adventures. This was most definitely not one of those times!

Got together with a few friends for dinner during the holidays and it never disappoints. We stopped in on a Sunday, early evening around 5:30. It was pretty quiet so we were quickly seated at our table. Our server for the evening, Josh was phenomenal. Josh is pretty much knowledgeable about the entire menu and gave us wonderful recommendations from food to cocktails. And answered any questions that we had, I wound definitely sit in his section all the time. I highly recommend. Our table ordered a plethora of entrees, from the Chesapeake Cioppino( a seasfood stew with clams, mussels, rockfish, Maryland crab and fennel), a phenomenal dish and perfect for cold evenings. The Rockfish entree was really delicious and I was blown away with the crispy okra. Definitely a nice touch to the dish. It sits in a goan curry sauce, so delicious. You can never go wrong with their burger. The cracked pepper bacon along with the caramelized onion jam was really good on this burger and it was cooked perfectly, nice and juicy. We also had the Shenandoah lamb and the shrimp and grits, which were not pictured, my friends enjoyed those dishes as well. They have nice cocktail menu as well, all the cocktails are named after songs, such as Like a G6 for example. If you're in the Mount Vernon area of town, stop in and check them out. They also offer brunch and happy hour service as well. You won't be disappointed SYOY I
