Best place to come for candy they have some of the best candy you can ever find as well as the strangest which makes it amazing

I have been waiting to write this review until this shop had produced my beloved Dr. Brown's Black Cherry Soda ( http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=u2MTc6rqUcoswvVwdKjlPw&userid=ax7SnXOTIpatbsmqHLqVow ) and tonight it was in stock! The manager / owner even recognized me and proudly stated his stock of Dr. Brown's had arrived. Hallelujah! Rohlinism: I don't always drink soda, but when I do, I prefer Dr. Brown's! I had actually been waiting for this store to open since about May, with the hope they would carry my beloved Dr. Brown's and Big Red ( http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=3uMHelMEZp5xiV7vzdtGSw&userid=ax7SnXOTIpatbsmqHLqVow ) which is my wife's newest addiction. In addition, they make their own brand of Rocket Fizz soda and carry some very unusual brands including Scotty's Butterscotch Soda and Pete's Pumpkin Patch Soda. Most bottles of $2.19, but they give discounts for buying in bulk starting at 4 bottles. Rocket Fizz provides cardboard carriers for you bottles to make transportation of you liquid delights a breeze. If you don't want to wait until you get home because a day is particularly hot, the front of the shop has a large refrigeration unit cooling many of the flavors they have on the shelf. Rocket Fizz is the creation of Robert Powells and Ryan Morgan. Their stores provide over 400 brands of soda which should bring you back to your childhood. Their idea is to become a one stop location for all your soda and candy needs. The shop also carries a number of retro and gag gifts, concert posters and movie posters, and tin signs. You will also find an excellent selection of Salt Water Taffy ( http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=UU23NFzDhnS9VELLwSbEvw&userid=ax7SnXOTIpatbsmqHLqVow ) with small bags going for $5.99 and $7.99 for the large bags (the better deal). Goo Goo Clusters ( http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=rxYjSktBvZU86KG3G65zqg&userid=ax7SnXOTIpatbsmqHLqVow ) are one our favorite candies and Rocket Fizz carries a "cluster" of them. For Harry Potter fans, Rocket Fizz carries Chocolate Frogs and Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans. There are number of other candies and old school posters and signs. This location is family owned and everyone working in the shop are very helpful and friendly. I was impressed when the owner recognized me and remembered what I had been looking for from a previous visit. I am definitely a fan of this location and will be happily making many returns! read more

Need that childhood specialty bottled pop that you missed ... no worries, it can probably be found at Rocket Fizz. Long awaited, it's now open for biz in Irvine Spectrum, located across from Blow Dry Bar, down the way from Nordstrom. Over 500 sodas, candy from all over the world and the prices are not too bad and definitely competitive. The more you buy, the cheaper it is. Buy 4 bottles and save. 90 cents, buy 6 and save even more. They have 4-pack cardboard containers with handles to hold your fizz. My absolute fave is Big Red, kind of a carbonated slight bubble gum flavoring. Okay so yep I admit it, I wanted first to review. Small bag of candy is $5.99 and larger bag is $7.99 and you can stuff that bag full of the big selection of salt water taffy that Rocket Fizz has, you do not even need to close it, fill it to the brim and it is same price and they will put on another bag in case if fallout! Yes you heard it here, not selling by the pound, so it is a great deal. Thirsty for a cold bottle, they have you covered. Cold drinks in the fridge with bottle opener at counter where you pay. Owner and his wife were on hand and friendly and clearly interested in making " a go" of their business. read more

"It's just a candy store!," I said to my boyfriend when he suggested we go in. Boy, was I wrong! One word: NOSTALGIA (in finding the items from your childhood you didn't know you missed) Ok, two words: SUGAR! (you'll want to drink it, chew it, snort it) Keep in mind that the prices will be higher than usual candy prices. Yes, it is mostly candy but this candy is from all over the world! Japan, Germany, Mexico -just to name a few! You'll even find candy you thought was discontinued! They also have plenty of sugar-free options! They also offer a myriad of soda pop! All the flavors you can think of and from so many different places! (I took a picture of some of the wacky flavors you'll find here) And ahhh! I found a bunch of Diet sodas flavored with Stevia! In case you don't know, this is the ideal zero calorie sweetener since it is natural and not chemically-based like Splenda/Equal. They also offer some very cool tins ($15.99) that you can hang on your wall! They are to look as the tin signs that stores would put up to advertise a product back in the day. AND they have really cool life-size cardboard figures of pop culture such as Elvis, Marylin Monroe, The Godfather, Doctor Who, the Tardis, super heroes, etc. All in all, I LOVE IT! I am pretty sure that we'll be stopping by whenever we are in the Irvine Spectrum :-D read more

Way too overpriced for what you get. You can find most of these snacks/candies for cheaper on Amazon or at your local grocery store. For example we bought some novelty chips for $10 and only looked online and at other stores afterwards and it was $2. I would give it a 6/5 for a great place to unnecessarily waste your money. read more

Old School candies, Japanese imported snacks, all kinds of root beers & Ginger Ales, posters and so much more! I happened to stumble in while walking around at the Spectrum, and it's no where near as great as the other candy store by Veggie Grill / Carousel. This one is way better.. you gotta check it out! It's like Powell's Candy shop, the one in Long Beach & Colorado, but I think I like the atmosphere here better. Brighter lighting and more spacious, not as cramped and dark like Powell's, and no Willy Wonka movie playing in the background... Some great finds / candies you could look forward to are: *Japanese Green Tea Kit-Kats (which you could only find at Mitsuwa or Japan), * Pocky flavors (cheesecake, Melon, coconut, white chocolate, almond crush, matcha..) * アポロ"apolo" the strawberry-chocolate bits, * Hi-chew from Japan ("sour" Hi-chew, Apple , Grape, Strawberry flavors) * LION candy bar from E. Europe (the BEST wafer-Snicker-like chocolate bar ever!), * TWIX Peanut Butter and other flavors... * Skittles "Riddles" & "Dark Side" (the "riddles" bag = colors don't match the flavors) * Starburst "Morph" (the flavors "morph" into a new flavor) * Nut Roll, Bun, Mary Jane, etc. * Lucy's Vitameatavegamin * A Can of "WHOOPASS" :) * THE longest row of taffy I've ever seen, * too many root beers & ginger ales to choose from... Whether you're craving chocolate, candy, old school memories, a pop of ginger ale or root beer, you are bound to find something that will make you smile + want to buy a sweet treat for the road! :) read more

This store is a total rip off, and it'll be the last time they have our business. My daughter went into the store with her cousin to buy candy while my sister and I waited for them right outside. She came out with a small box of plain M&Ms that she bought for $5.99!! I can't believe this store would mark up prices that much. How ridiculous! We could've bought 5 of the same candy at Target for the that price. SMH read more

Such a cool store m. So much variety and candy from all over the world. So many childhood memories came back since they have a lot nostalgic candies as well. Definitely worth checking out read more

Must stop here when your at spectrum. Really nice customer service. Go here whenever you are in the area

CANDY!!! Really, that's all that matters! Rocket Fizz must be a new shop, or maybe it's because I haven't been to the Spectrum in awhile that I never noticed this place. Either way, it's important to note that they have a TON of candy! I wanted to eat everything. Highlights: the wonderful wall of soda (including Big Red, which truly tastes like the color red!!), the barrels of taffy (a small bag runs for $5.99 I think), the small table of Japanese candy including green tea flavored Kit-Kats and Strawberry Oreo thingies, the candy cigarettes that I used to buy from the ice cream man (mom never told me what I couldn't spend my allowance on)....I could go on but I'm coming down from my sugar rush. :P Candy is a helluva drug. read more

For a candy and soda store, this is pretty much a one-stop shop. This particular store carries so many different kinds of fizzy sodas -- some which make fun little gifts for friends. They have virtually every flavor and brand. If they don't, they can probably find it for you. Same goes for candy -- you'll find candies from all over the world and in every flavor. Dozens of taffy flavors, Pocky varieties, the elusive Green Tea Kit Kat, and more. Yeah, you can probably find some of these if you travel all the way to J-town or K-town in LA but who wants to make that drive for candy. Rocket Fizz also has NA and SA candies that you wouldn't normally find at Target and whatnot. Either way, soda or candy, this is a great place to satisfy your sweet tooth and get a few cavities. And if you're looking for a beloved childhood sweet or a specialty candy of a certain brand, you are surely going to find it here. read more

Pretty awesome candy store. The other one at the spectrum closed so I had to come to this one. They don't have loose candy that you can bag so that kind of sucks. However, the variety is pretty good and there's a lot of candy that isn't sold in regular stores. They also have a good amount of foreign candies. I don't drink soda so I'm not really tempted to try all the sodas but they look really cool. And they also have random gifts like life size card board cut outs. The pricing seems a little bit higher than usual but it's probably worth it if you buy the right things (: read more

A fun little store to walk through with a lot of interesting sodas and candy. There were a couple rare gems here and there but I wouldn't come looking for a discontinued soda, especially if it is a big brand name. Although almost half of the sodas seemed to be gimmicky flavours like "fog" or "turkey," we did manage to find two that turned out to be really nice. Smuggler's Cove was blue soda that tasted like coconut and we also found a cute Aggretsuko energy drink that wasn't too bad. There were a couple of Japanese Kit Kats but not any which were uncommon in the Southern California area. We did find some larger, seemingly European Kit Kats that we have never seen before. The Cookies & Cream and Tiramisu flavours were very good and we ended up taking them home with us when we left CA. This is a good place to drop by if you are trying to kill time before a movie or dinner. You never know what you could find! read more

The setup is pretty awesome. It has a retro feel to it, well done on that. They pretty much tug at your nostalgic senses while keeping your young ones in awe for those with kids. They have all the niche sodas and candies along with some old school toys. There's something for everyone that loves novelty items. They even have import goodies like ramune sodas and kitkats from Asia. They put a premium on pricing but that's a given with these types stores. Enjoy! read more

My kids love this place. It has perhaps the best selection of boutique sodas in glass bottles anywhere, and a decent selection of candies and other related items. The vibe is all fun, and the displays attract the walkers-by just for the curiosity factor. I was in there maybe five minutes on a Sunday afternoon, and I was approached at least four times by a wanting-to-be-helpful staff member. (Or maybe she thought I was on the prowl to steal a soda?) If you get a chance, pop in and check out the labels on the different sodas. One set was devoted to facist dictators from around the world, complete with handsome portraits. Lots of unique flavors as well. If my youngest daughter was rating this place, it would be a five star all the way. For me? I don't eat much candy, or drink any soda, so it's just a novelty browsing spot. read more

Rocket Fizz - Lots and lots of glass bottled sodas - Candy Stores Near Me - Irvine, California

Ok so what is all the Fizz about with this place? I believe that Nostalgia does play an important role with the theme, but what about good old customer service? How about price vs. value? Oh I can't wait to dish about this... First of all, I am definitely not one to complain about purchasing one of a kind chotchkes, knick-knacks, Hello Kitty Pez dispensers, I have a super collection of my own, and I am supportive of my fellow consumers who want to spend money on one of a kind candies and sodas that are truly "hard to find" or are limited editions. But hold on, and take a moment. Please wake up and smell that "Swedish fish" and notice that this place is totally ripping from you and your wallet. Prices on novelties like tin lunch boxes, singing pickles and Sarcasm signs are astronomically priced as well as British Candies such as Turkish Delight and Aero Bars. There is hope out there at better rates! To inform you fellow Yelpers, I will mention a store with the "world" in it, also a local grocery with "Fresh" and Asian convenience Markets that are further down on Jamboree in Irvine that has everything "Matcha" "Hello Kitty" and more! If you are loyal to the Rocket, I understand that you are considering the fact of two things: 1.) The convenience of purchasing locally at the Spectrum and 2.) You are purchasing at the Spectrum. But there are plenty of other places to find these great items at lower rates. But hey! I get it, this is the time and place, so when its an impulsive buy, you are doing the right thing. But I care about product knowledge and that's why I share. Also the customer service here is horrible. I agree with the other Yelpers that have discussed about a male worker who is just careless, unfriendly and very rude who possibly runs the place. I mean, if you hate this job so much, then leave.. unless you really have to run the place. How can you let yourself be unhappy surrounded by sweetness all day?? It makes Rocket Fizz more of a Rocket Dizz.. Perks: Variety of many, many flavored Taffy. Bag them small or large - be sure to fill to the top. Variety of Soda's that will take you back or form a huge question mark in your brain : Bacon flavored Soda? or Corn on the Cob? Fun stuff to chuckle at. Downsides: Well its pretty much what I had already mentioned. OverALL: Blast off! Far, far away to another wonderful planet of better deals on precious sweet memories. read more

What can I say? Anyone that carries Peach Nehi is pretty darn awesome in my book! Dropped in today, just to check this place out, and there it was....my favorite Peach Nehi! I haven't had this in years! While browsing around I was taken back to my years growing up. All the candy I used to buy with the money I made mowing lawns and painting addresses on curbs to my neighbors! How fun this store is with all kinds of goodies! Love that they have a lot of the Japanese favorites of mine, like the Green Tea Kit Kats, the strawberry Oreos and so much more. Rocket Fizz - Yesss! - Candy Stores Near Me - Irvine, California

The manager was following my friend and i around the store the entire time we were browsing. She continuously hovered over us even peaking into my shopping bag. She was also incredibly rude. My friend picked up an item then put it back down on our way out, the manager then chased after us demanding we give her what she thought we had stolen, which we didnt. We promptly walked with her back inside to show her where we placed the item. She said my apologies then nothing else. Seems like there have been many other reviews with similar accusations. Definitely do not go unless you want to be accused and make sure you dont browse to long as it might scares the employees read more

Terrible customer service. Very nasty and rude. One of the ladies working followed me and my black mom around the store and even tried to accuse my mom for stealing until she realized the merchandise was still in the store. It's really ridiculous that they would discriminate against us and put something like stealing under our belt just because of the color of our skin. I also made a purchase within the store and now I'm absolutely regretting it. I will be going through my bank to dispute the charge and we will NOT be back. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Today my son was in there with friends and was accused of stealing. First of all my son is 12 he had my credit card and cash to spend so he doesn't need to steal nor would he. His friends had money too and in the past they've bought many items in this store which were so over priced. Today they were told they weren't allowed to return back to the store because the woman working in there was so rude and accusatory. How can you run a business when you treat customers poorly. Reading the reviews most of them say worst customer service and employees accuse people of stealing. I'm not going to let this behavior of the owner or employee go. No one should go into a store and be treated so poorly. read more

On the outside, this place looks like your average candy store. However, as soon as you walk in, it features so much more than candy. They have an endless selection of sodas to choose from, some names that I can't even understand how and why they were made. Ranch Dressing Soda, Bacon Soda, Buffalo Wings Soda....I think I'd pass on those, but they sure sound interesting! They have real-sized celebrity cut-outs from TV sitcoms such as Big Bang Theory, a million kinds of candy, a numerous selection of sodas you'd never find at a typical grocery market, and much more. Rocket Fizz has it all. Pretty cool tourist store to visit in the Irvine Spectrum Plaza! read more

The lady at the register was very rude. My friends and I went here to get candy before watching a movie. Three out of the four of us decided that we didn't want anything so one of my friends and i went outside to wait while the other two stuck together in the line. We found some of the seats that were outside so we decided to just sit down and wait for the others. Next thing we see was the lady from the cash register fast walking out of the store towards us. (We had only seen this lady once because we asked where some of the candy was) She came over to us and pointed at my friends bag and asked, "Where did you get that? Why do you have that?" (My friend already had some candy that she brought with her) We we're both really confused so we look and see that she was pointing at the urban outfitters bag by friend put on the floor. So my friend tells her that it's from urban outfitters. (the lady was not having it) The lady then points at the candy in the bag and asks again, "Where did you get that? Why do you have that?" My friend pulled it out and said that she brought it from her home. The worker then says that she saw my friend pick up candy that was on the shelf, so we told her that we put everything back where we found it. Next thing we see is her with the candy in her hand and say that she was looking for the store logo on it. (i understand that it may be for security reasons, but it did not give her the right to take it from my friend before asking for permission) We watched as she flipped the candy looking for the logo, that was not there, then put the candy down and walk away. Not even an apology was said. I get that we are teens and look like we would steal, but she didn't have to right to take something out of my friends personal stuff. She accused my friend of stealing and didn't even apologize for her actions. Not recommended. Never returning. read more

Memory Lane! It's almost like going back to the good old days. They have a wide selection of soda pop and old vintage style candies, gadgets, toys and signs. Inside is well lit and well organized. I found staff there to be very helpful and attentive. Prices are a little exaggerated but it's a shop and well expected. They have a really awesome selection of salt water taffy candy - I like that. I recommend if you are looking for vintage style stuff and if you are in the mood for an old hard to find soda pop. read more

A nice novelty store that leans towards some nostalgic times. A variety of candy and pop for everyone around the world to enjoy. Although a bit high on the price and mixed on its decor, that's to be expected. Why point out the obvious...but of course I will for others that commented. 1st it's in Irvine, and Spectrum of all places, so rent is one of the highest...so there's your answer to the prices. Irvine also keeps raising their rent yearly, they take part of your profit, and they charge heavy for maintenance. If you don't believe me then speak with their property management. 2nd, like every thing in Irvine the places are cookie cut or faux styled. I would give them a 5 Star if they recycled when giving back the bottles. (so I don't feel as bad using them) And carry more of a variety in their refrigerated beverage section. (PS bring the temp a bit lower) I don't like root beer but if you choose to have so many then sell a cup with ice cream to make a float. Häagen Dazs is right down the ways from you;P read more

10/5 star!!! Best customer service ever. Nicole is amazing and she put a smile on my face after walking out with my bag of taffy. Yummy!

Friendly staff place seemed to be clean good variety of candy and other merchandise. There was no line to get in.

Rocket Fizz has a nice selection of candies and sodas that will give you lots of new experiences - you'll want to come back to keep them comin'! Tip: My take is that most of the sodas are pretty close to perfect; they have clean flavors that aren't overpowered by syrpy or artificial tastes - the right level of carbonation too :-) Consider trying this place out, either for yourself or to pick up a selection of unique sodas and candies as a gift. read more

So I was messaged that the owner would like me to update or remove my review because of their "online reputation. " Here's my update. First and foremost they gave me my money back. After almost a month but they did. Only because i was persistent with it. I kept calling and texting. If it wasn't because of that they wouldn't have even bothered contacting me. Overall it's still one star and i still don't recommend this place. Messaging someone to remove their review just because it doesn't benefit your business is a bright red flag. if you don't want bad reviews then do better. read more
